Jung Jin is an ordinary 28-year-old woman with a job and a boyfriend, but her boyfriend dumps her and she gets fired from her job. Jung Jin then decides to open a restaurant with her mother. The restaurant goes bankrupt. Her mother goes down to the country and Jung Jin is left alone at the restaurant. At that time, Jo Hee-Ra (Song Ji-Hyo) appears in front of her. Jo Hee-Ra is a witch and she wants to borrow Jung Jin's restaurant to open her own restaurant. Jo Hee-Ra's restaurant would make food that grants a customer's wish. In exchange for granting their wish, the customers would give Jo Hee-Ra something that she wants from them. Jung Jin is skeptical at first, but she has an incredible experience from eating Jo Hee-Ra's food. Jung Jin soon works with Jo Hee-Ra and the restaurant becomes popular.

Park Min Sep 20 2023 5:00 pm No matter how you look at it, the drama was a missed opportunity for something much better. It's a very dumbed-down secondhand tacky "be careful what you wish for" type of story. Little to no dynamic between the female lead and the witch until the last episode. The introduction of the female lead and her "wish" was definitely a weak start for the drama. Poorly written and executed love interest for the female lead, it wouldn't have been an issue if they didn't give her a trashy pair up but instead something that would serve the narrative and the resolution better. None of the clients were interesting and the outcome was always lacking the x-factor other than the obvious trade off of the deal. At least the drama looked nice and the cast was good enough.

Jane May 05 2022 1:45 am FYI, this web drama did great! The ratings Jen got was the ratings from the re-run on tvN so it doesn’t mean that it didn’t perform well. The re-run was last January 2022, and the drama itself was released at around July-August 2021, so it’s surprising that people still tuned in. The amount of subscriptions on TVING increased during the release of this drama.

The Witch’s Diner is a great fantasy drama, short but there are a lot of life lessons. The actors, CGI, writers, and staff did a great job! I would like to commend Song Ji Hyo as well, even though she has a bright and bubbly image on variety shows, she was so convincing and effective in portraying Witch Heera and all the character’s layers. JH3 (Jihyo, Jihyun, Jonghyeop) had a lot of natural chemistry and I also enjoyed their dynamic. Kudos to everyone!

Water Mar 23 2022 6:21 am Smart compaction, it ended neat and clean—in comparison to another short dramas I've watched, which usually ended abruptly, in hurry, or cliffhanging. Although I think binge watching is the best way to watch this, to enjoy and get full understanding of whole package. Once you're losing focus, you'll find the pace weird—maybe that's where Jen coming from with their comment below me. But, no, Jen, the script isn't poor at all for 8 episoded drama. It's just short.

As for acting, it came back to one own preference. For me all did good, good enough for me to dislike Tom Kim's character. Song Jihyo as witch is a pleasant to the eye, and she makes cool duo with Mr. Oh. And good casting of Nam Jihyun for Jin. She's the typical nuna that younger boys like and it's not cringe to watch her interaction with Gil-yong.

Speaking of Gil-yong—Chae Jonghyeop is so bae. I'm glad he'll become a lead role soon, it's about time.

One thing I agree with Jen is season 2 is not mandatory—despite of the rating. The ending is already satisfying, but later if they'll gonna storytell how Jin and Gil-yong are doing with their new job, why not? It's gonna be interesting to see how they do the job in their way.

Ps why do i got the feeling that in the end Ms. Witch and Mr. Oh are going to Wizarding World ㅋㅋㅋ

But whole storyline is not same at all. And regarding the romance genre, this drama almost does not have romance but male lead (CJH) did fall in love with NJH. However, there is no development of their lovestory. I can say it is unrequited love. Romance is not even in the list of this drama genre. This drama is about morality, family, fantasy.

Poor you for skipping a good drama. Lucky all of those viewers for having good taste in dramas.

Still hoping for season 2 since it will be aired on TVN on this January after being successfully promoted as webdrama in TVING (online platform in Korea, similar with Netflix concept)

I've delayed watching this series a bit thinking that it's a bit scary (and I don't like those), but it's seriously good. Writer-nim(s), you've created an enigmatic and intrinsically woven story. Thank you! The main actors suit their characters well and the extra characters were also interesting to see their stories unfold. I keep worrying that we would not get a good closure in just 8 episodes. TVING should make a 2nd season. :)

OMG! It's been so long since I've watched a really good series, like I've been rewatching a lot of past series just cause there's no good series these days or at least the series I want to watch hasn't ended yet (hospital playlist 2)... I can't believe Song Ji-Hyo is so so so good! I just watched her on Running Man all the time didn't know her acting prowess until this series, she's so so so good! Perfect for the role! The story made me cry a few times, specifically the story about dementia, the story about Jin's childhood, and that epilogue on Episode 8, gosh I forgot that picture totally but after watching that last epilogue I felt that the story is complete... 8 episode is good enough, I'm happy with how short/long it is... By the way so nice to see Jong-hyeop, Do-kwon and Kwang-eop on the same series again - watched all three previously in Hot Stove League

But, no I did not quit it as the story is short and bearable (40+ minutes per episode and only 8 episodes in total). This drama may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you decide to give this a try, there is one thing you should look forward to, and that is actress Song Ji Hyo's performance in badass outfits ;)

Just like a little mermaid, she exchange her voice with the witch only to be beside the prince. But her boyfriend, and even the prince in the fairy tale, doesn't deserve with their love. They repudiate themselves for their lovers. But... When you repudiate yourself, how could you be deserved to have love? In result, the little mermaid disappeared, and Sun Mi lost both her dream and her love. It is a sad story.

It also has a suprising plot twist. Song ji hyo is gorgeous as always and did a great acting in this kdrama. She really has that witch vibes, like fierce and feisty attitude. I love nam ji hyun. She's the real reason why I watched this because she's one of my favorite korean actress. I just wanted to have more romantic moments between nam ji hyun and chae jeong hyeop coz they were cute together but too bad, it was not focus on romance..

Kdrama fan Aug 16 2021 5:20 am The plot tell us that there is no free lunch in this world. You need to work hard for whatever you yearn to have and even if you had worked hard for it , it doesn't guarantee that you would definitely get what you yearn for.

E.g. The story on the musical singer. She yearn for her bf to comes back to her. Who knows, he wasn't sincere to her actually and she end up losing something which is more precious to her which is her beautiful voice. I feel sad for her. As lead gal's said in her voiceover at the beginning that everyone need to make decisions/choices everyday. Some are big/important stuff and some are just trivial stuff like what to eat for dinner etc. The choices you made is very important in the singer's scenario of this kind. It will affect your entire life.

Haven't watch the last two epi. Hope the last two episodes would be better.

I always love Jihyo and Nam Jihyun since forever, seeing them together in a drama is really amazing. Also I really like the characters Jin and Gil Young so much, I wish they end up together. beth Aug 10 2021 12:41 am I really love the cast, as I am an avid fan of Nam ji Hyun, I like Jo Hee Ra and \Gil Yong. They seem all to fit their characters. Song Jihyo is a very beautiful, scary witch. But seeing her pretty face, you will be distracted from being scary. The drama is light on fantasy, love story, etc but still very exciting and very recommendable if you want to be entertained. Their acting skills are really fitting especially Nam Ji Hyun who portrayed lots of emotions on this drama

Instead, ep 6 caught my attention with much deeper afterthoughts in regard of filial duty. I know a person who think of filial duty as a burden until the 'reckoning day' arrived some fortnights ago. The s.o.b. wept like a gumiho since that day regretting things. Humans!.... Good job writing team!

Limolime Aug 05 2021 10:07 am I have to say Nam Ji Hyun' s looks are so ethereal and heavenly in this drama..They did het justice in terms of make up and hair styling. She's become more beautiful and mature..Such a great actress.

Also, I've never watched any drama for Song Jihyo or Chae Jong Hyeop but I absolutely like their acting here. Jihyo looks like an elegant witch, but frightening at the same time. Jong Hyeop is so cute like a puppy esp when he smiles just like a high school kid.

Sad this drama is only 8 episodes I hope they'll add at least 4 other episodes. Also, I'm wondering how are the ratings of drama so far? Someone answers me pls.

The main story of each ep is interesting in the same time the story give us some sceptical information and the progress of the cheracters . I'm sure they will not be the same at the very last of the show. Great script , worth every minute

GM Jul 17 2021 4:04 pm Words are not enough for me to emphasized how much i am in awe with this drama. I’ve only seen two episodes but i can absolutely tell how good of a drama this is. The storyline is very interesting. But of course no matter how interesting the storyline is, the success of a drama will always depend on the actors portraying the characters. With that being said, the actors, especially Song Ji Hyo, did an awesome job. This drama is a must watch for sure. ?

And yes I'm agreeing to that opinion but technically there should be no issue regarding who copying this and that. Because... Come to Witch's Restaurant won award aroun 2015 and the novel was published by Dasan Books on early 2016 which is march. And.. Mystic pop up bar web novel is published a little bit late (first ep published around june 2016)

Obviously Come to Witch's Restaurant is published earlier ?? (in case, haters want to 'fight' over this issue because haters are everywhere ??)
