A story about a man employed in a psychiatric ward and a woman, with an antisocial personality disorder, who is a popular writer of children's books.

Moon Kang-Tae (Kim Soo-Hyun) works in the psychiatric ward. His job is to write down the patients' conditions and to deal with unexpected situations, like if patients fight or they run away. He only earns about 1.8 million won (~$1,600 USD) a month. The woman (Seo Yea-Ji) is a popular writer of children's literature, but she is extremely selfish, arrogant and rude.

Ellen Jul 26 2025 7:42 am I’ve watched many K dramas over the years but keep coming back to this unique dark drama full of messages, brilliant folklore, artwork, great dialogue and the hope that injured souls can be cured. Part of its success has to be in the brilliant casting, MK, FL perfect, seniors only the best ones picked, psychiatric staff and patients a delight, villain well played. The plot keeps us guessing until the end, humour always there and the love of brothers, leads, mother daughter, father son - there’s nothing missing. This drama outstrips even CLOY. There’s nothing not to love about it. Utterly fascinating and exceptional. It’s far more unusual than good shows like Queen of Tears or My Demon. Seo Yi Ji and Kim Soo Huyun should be commended along with Oh Jung Se for making us believe in redemption and fairy tale endings.

It’s Okay to Not Be Okay is exactly this kind of production. Although it may seem like an ordinary romantic drama from the outside, it actually takes its audience through the labyrinths of childhood traumas, repressed emotions and recovery with each episode. While its visual world resembles a fairy tale, the story it tells is based on confronting the darkness behind the bright face of fairy tales. This series conveys the idea that "to recover, you need to be understood, not loved" from heart to heart.

Kdrama Llama Feb 13 2025 7:45 am I couldn’t begin to think how to review this drama when I first watched it last year, but after a recent rewatch, I have lots to say!

I loved this dark, spooky love drama so much. Following a fairytale theme, it looked and often felt Tim Burton-esque (think nightmare before Christmas). I so loved the found family message and the deep love that grows between the lead couple, the two brothers and the trio as they form a family and begin to rely on each other and crucially the others around them. None of the side characters were wasted, I particularly loved Jae Soo as the MLs best friend.

It is over the top, it is challenging, it is sad (there will be tears!) and unsettling in places it’s also funny and the depth of the characters and their stories was impressive. I’ve genuinely never seen a show like this before. The acting from the three leads was astonishingly good in their respective roles, props to them all, but Kim Soo Hyun gets my best crier award, he really gave it his all!

Hyebin May 25 2024 5:01 am Watched till episode 6 and could not bring myself to watch more further. The fl is so annoying even with only listen to her voice. I just could not enjoy this drama even i like KSH.

RachyT May 12 2024 1:30 pm I am now 9 episodes in as a first time watcher and I have to say I do not fully understand the hype of this drama. I can start with the good, I do like the diversity in the characters: their personalities, their obstacles, their story. That being said, I think it boils down to the script and the director’s choices, but there seems to be no real premise for the 2 leads to be together aside from escapism. While that works for the short-term, it does not speak to a relationship that could last. In fact I would argue that they are not good for each other but rather bring out the worst in each other. Also I found it very hard to ignore her very predatory behavior (which for me is okay for the plot) but I’m concerned that it was portrayed in a romantic light. This is not character traits that one should be seeking to exemplify. The acting was great, but the script for me was difficult to accept.

It is a very good movie with many good advices to live your life to highest point of your life. Especially do not let emotion control over you and do not let other's people mistakes to eefine your happiness.

"Girl Power Does not mean being arrogant and rude, cursing people out here and there" if this were to be in real life, most men will run far away from her, the few guys she'll attract, may see it as different than what they're used to. Few guys will be attracted to her personality is different and new experience. Thank God she's rich at least he can suffer emotional abuse while enjoying her wealth,cars & house. People may argue that she's rude to other people but nice to him, Yes cos the early stage of relationship is based on infatuation, ones they get comfortable with each other, her true self will emerge & he will even have it worse than others cos she'll say (He Already Knows That I'm Like That) He'll definitely get fed up along the line cos no one wants to suffer a relationship with a toxic person forever. d33rama Jul 10 2023 9:56 pm A solid 8/10 recommend. Touches on much needed topics of mental health, family instability, financial hardship, etc. in a sensitive and compassionate way. It's an eclectic K-drama, so it's likely to be either a love-it or skip-it type for most. Oh Jun-se's performance as Moon Sang-Tae, autistic older brother, was outstanding. He's the all-star of the series. I'd be bold enough to say it gave Dustin Hoffman's performance from Rain Man a run for his money. Great character performances and an eclectic story made for good entertainment.

Didn’t like MF, it was painful to watch her behavior, so cringey. But actors were great. I just didn’t like the story. But I enjoyed Kwak Dong-Yeon part, it was funny.

The plot was unique, even the hospital didn't use orthodox methods for treating the patients. I live how they took out time to help the audience understand each characters dilemma,the acting is outstanding,the cinematography,the scenic directing and everything. I'm not really a fan of romance but this one wasn't the average romance drama it was relishing. Anyone that calls this series overhyped doesn't see this drama as their favourite genre type and it's also disappointing how most people misunderstand Seo ye Ji's character in this series, people view her as a badass but she's actually a broken young woman whose inner child needs healing her attitude was just a facade. It really deserved the awards, nominations and praise. It was also nominated for an Emmy awards too, c'mon this drama was too good

Seo Yea-ji is Gorgeous (her outfits, make up), her voice is mesmerizing. Oh Jung-se and Kim Soo-Hyun are incredible in their acting : their story and relationship is so sad yet touching, I cried almost all the time, especially when Sang-tae starts to want to be the "big brother" and be in charge (I am very sensitive to the topic of disabled people), or when he explains why he wants so much to save money etc... Clearly Oh Jung-se is "the best" in this drama for me, his acting is amazing (not easy portraying an autistic), Kim Soo-hyun too of course. Seo Yea-ji is also really good, I loved her for her looks and voice mainly, but her character had very funny scenes also !

The tales are beautiful, I liked that there are life lessons every time. And the soundtrack, wow...

It is a beautiful drama, very mysterious and touching and sometimes very funny, I will not watch it again immediately because I do not want to cry, but it is really worth watching (hopefully I will be less sensitive the second time I will watch it). The end is really good too : this drama gives hope...

Ciepao Nov 30 2022 8:42 am The actors and actresses in this drama is so powerful. If I can rate them more than 10 I would. Even the side characters and extras are awesome. But sad to say I didn't like the story. The plot is fine, just not enough for me to get hooked up. The first few episodes where the main female lead was so controlling is a no for me. I also got a little confused from the start if this drama is a fantasy drama where the female lead has a power since that's what they portray her so I was anticipating when will she show her powers. Maybe I just interpreted it in a different way. Though the ending was nice, I like the improvement of each characters and how they all build their relationships. The OSTs and outfits are a banger too. I would rate this a 6.5 out of 10.

Someone’s life may change after watching this because it helps your thinking about others. I really admire Korean series, especially this one. Give good messages and enjoy at the same time.

I loved the plot twist I did not see that coming. They way Ko Moon-Young goes to him first and loves him first, I loved that she was the dominant one. And the acting of Oh Jung-Se (Moon Sang-Tae) was just amazing. This deserves all the praise and more. I honestly think it should have won an award -maybe there is one that I don't know of- . I loved the character development. This is definitely a recommend!

The producer and director was too confused- he picked up one topic didn't finish it went to another- the two brothers love is so strong but gets very weak . The hospital scenes are ao out of line. No story line . The girl is shown so crazy killing thinhs and overnight becomes dane. Most confusing drama. Just shipped episodes . No sane person would go out with a crazy person like ko Moon Young. Money wasted. Sorry.

Her foul mouth & sharp tongue kept me laughing! My favorite scene was the 2 brothers having dinner after Gang tae had a long day, autistic brother Sang tae cuts his younger brothers cutlet, paid for bill & gave him an allowance. Sang tae kept repeating, “that’s what older brothers should do.” It definitely touched my heart.

But her cold face somehow light up the whole thing. Not to mention her fashion style is fantastic. It doesnt feel strange to me if she can manipulate everything in this world, where she walks, when she appears. Such mysterious actress..

It's okay to acknowledge that, overcome one's fears, traumas, abuse and risk opening up, getting rejected, accept love and self love, overcome loneliness. Scary and dark i/t beginning (which put me off at first) glad I persevered. Bravo to writer, cast and costume advisers.

The scenes are all too boring and slow paced. I don't get the relevance of minor scenes on the main plot. I also don't get the attitude of the leading lady, her rudeness does not equate to girl power as what people are claiming, also i cannot relate on the emotions and actions of the leading man towards the leading lady and the minor characters has no impact on the story.

I know this is about mental health and I get it. It's just lacking an element. Also, if the lead female has a mental illness why they didn't provide medical intervention in the end. Again, the way she acts towards people does not justify her mental illness. Having a mental illness does not mean it's okay to treat people like shit.

The only thing I love is the acting of the older brother with autism. His acting is very impressive and realistic. I commend him!

It is just perfect, the two leads have perfect chemistry, the two brothers also have perfect chemistry. The study into fairy tales, autism, romance, damaged characters healing is all out of this world. KIm soo Hyun has his best interaction with SEO Yi Ji. I can’t believe she’s been dumped because of scandals when she is so talented and beautiful. Korea is so straight. High school bullying goes on all over the world and couples getting jealous of each other. Just let her back in, the world needs her. Kim soo Hyun needs her, he was relaxed and perfect with her. The brother Moon gang Tae is a star in his own right and the support actors are all great, the script, music, direction all just wonderful. Only bad point was the mother, that just didn’t ring true, but it’s a semi fantasy so we accept it. Please let’s see those leads again, this drama is too good to forget about. The sexy scenes are cool and the trip with the mad escapee so funny it made you laugh and cry. I’ll watch it for a fourth time. I hope Netflix doesn’t drop it like they did with Reply 1988, that was just sad.

In reality nobody would want to be near the FL as she is so evil / bad / psychotic, I mean won't you worry that she will suddenly kill you? But since this is a rom-com (and fairy-tale-turned-Kdrama), so it is overly sugar coated with the romance and how ML cares for her.....I'm similar to her and nobody wants to be friends with me.....so I spotted how fairy-tale this kdrama is. This drama is only good if you are in a mud pit in reality and would want some fantasy-romance to help you tide over the hard times but back to reality, reality is still reality....nobody would want to be near a nut case in actual fact. Just becos the lead couple known each other during childhood that's why the romance easily sets in plus the ML is patient and caring, understands psychiatric patients well and also the FL is gorgeous. This is the reality. If you are an ugly, old, nut case woman would anyone wants to be near you?? think about it.....

Been watching k-dramas for a very long time now and I think this can sit comfortably in my top 3. I don't really care for all the drama surrounding the female lead IRL, her acting is actually beautiful and compliments Kim Soo-Hyun's so well. I agree that a lot wasn't explained but that happens a lot with k-dramas so never expected it to begin with. Brilliant! Please watch!

I was mesmerized, captivated by Seo Yea-Ji's performance, her wonderful expressions of sarcasm, sadness, pain, childlike behavior, and ultimately, happiness. I hated the korean drama Youth of May's tragic ending of the FL, whereas I love the feel good ending with this drama It's Okay to be Not Okay, this is my type of ending. Whatever flaws that some may feel about this drama, I, for one, like these movies that I don't feel sad after it ends.

xin Jul 27 2021 7:57 am this drama was amazing, it was so emotional, enjoyable and heart-mending at the same time. each episodes leave me feeling so blue yet joy as well, the plot is amazing and i'm blown away by the uniqueness of this drama, the characters and the flow. though i am dissapointed with the cartoon-ish acting or even the writing of the villian character. it felt too rushed, and also way too comical, but i'm glad it's rushly finished because her character was... embarassing to say. the villain was more fun without that reveal. either way, i enjoy this drama!

She also kidnapped his brother just to get him to move in with her...gosh I can’t believe people can love her character and call her badass, in fact I hated it when she slapped juri. Great script writing, brilliant acting by everyone, too many to mention, but in both the 3 leads in IOKTNBOK and the 4 in CLOY stand out as remarkable. The comedy in both is perfect, the setting, the direction and the OST. They will both go down as classics. I hope we see Seo Yi Ji back on screen again. The autistic brother is just a brilliant actor and the chemistry between the brothers and Ko Moon Young is sizzling and true to life. The writer deserves a medal for weaving it all around fairy tales with the theme of healing.

I also loved the way the drama gave fairy tales different perspectives. And I don't know why people would hate Ko Mun-yeong. I really love her guts and boldness. Anyway what I want to say that this drama is like a fairy tale with a fantastic plot story. The storyline was really interesting. Both Kim soo-hyun and Seo yea- ji act well here. I already knew that Kim soo-hyun is a good actor but got to know that Seo yea- ji is too a talented actress only after watching this drama. up to this I have only seen her doing a negative role in Hwarang. So I was so excited when I see her as Ko mun-yeong.she is doing her best to this character portrayal.Oh jung-sae is also doing an amazing job here. Actually he is a versatile actor. No wonder that he won a Baeksang award for portraying the role of Moon sang-tae who is a diseased person with autism and trauma. He is acts as a real diseased person. His acting is very natural and realistic. Apart from the main cast other actors specially the actors who represent the psyche of the patients of the Ok hospital with mental disorders act very well. In fact the whole story is a success as both the cast and crew has done their job well. However what I have to tell is this drama will make you entertain if you are in to fantasy dramas. Highly recommend this to all who love fancy kdrmas.!!!This drama has well represented the human psyche and how it is get differentiated from to each other.So just watch and see!!! No regrets!!! LOL

The cast was fantastic, she was an amazing actor I am actually a new fan of her now, but the first half kdrama was pretty good, then I realized that they used the same 3 places for the whole drama. Was their budget low? I don't know. Maybe that's why it felt boring to me because they are either at the house, the hospital or the mansion, rinse and repeat. I will give it a 7/10.

I have watched it probably more than 10 times now and I feel ko Mun Yeong, Moon Gang Tae and Moon sang taes emotions with all the heavy scenes. The chemistry between Kim Soo- Hyun and Sep Yea-Ji is by far the best I’ve seen and they truly deliver all the heavy scenes with such sincerity. I can’t believe it got such low ratings because it is such an amazing series. I truly hope Netflix will continue on to make the Season 2 with the same cast! The three leads definitely deserves awards for their performance!

irene May 18 2021 11:39 am i've watched this drama twice and really did enjoy every single minute of it. i would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a psychological-romance based drama. the first half of the drama was satisfying as each episode has its own story. however, the second half could've been better. they dragged the psychotic mother and butterfly too much only for it to end after kang tae got dosed by moon young's mother, and moon young's reaction was a bit exaggerated at the time. the more i scheme thoroughly into this drama the more flaws i find. i rate this drama 9/10. enjoy watching it :)

Especially pleased Jung Se also thanked Seo YeJi who has been having a lot of online bullying but who is a great actress, lovely person and we should see more of her. When netizens decide to blacken someone, they are heartless. High school bullying is impossible to prove and 50% of the population experience it. It is a very easy stone to throw.

This was an out and out amazing show, all three of these actors deserve a medal and the writer is just out of this world talented.

The acting is great, both KSH and SYJ portrayed their characters well. OJS is simply amazing, I saw him as a villian in Good Detective before this show and I am amazed at his duality. Halfway through the show the story got a little slow and boring for me. Also the story about Ko Mun Yeong’s mother as the head nurse doesn’t make any sense at all. The last few episodes went downhill, felt like the writer just gave up on the story. There was no explanation or backstory given. They didn’t explain anything about the head nurse, why she decided to get revenge and also change her entire face...Overall 7/10 honestly feels like another of those “overrated and overhyped” shows

That's why I read the critics have to say and they also asked about how the " murder " wasn't justified or.explained. ep. 14 showed the mother that Ko myoung died from the stairs some years back Nad was left dead for days before her dad threw her in the ocean.

Fast forward in the present 20 years later the Head Nurse is the mother of Ko moyoung?! How can that be ?!?! When the 1st mother was the one who came in at night feeling happy that she murdered someone, asked by her own dad. who happened to be the mother of Gang tae and SangTae !?!?

Then during eo. 14 last Parthenon Head Nurse is back and Sangtae was sedated in the couch....confrontation scenes bet. The head Nurse and Gang tae. Why would she take revenge with the 2 brothers as they were the victims already in the past . What's their sin against the " Head Nurse " ...now the mother of ko miyoung!?!? I am lost there !!!

That is why there were some comments asking " why was it like that in the Finale.

In kdramas in support to the child stars they will always have a participation during the flashback scenes. Usually, the kids will meet and will have a " fling or love interest as young as age 10 " ... then after more than 15 years they will meet again in present time ( perfume, #whatswrongwithsecretarykim #privatelife ) etc. No wonder they have 8 nominations in #baeksangawards 2020 !!!! I can't wait to finish . Great screenplay, actors, cinematography etc !!! Theater playing with autism amazing performance!!!

Second for character development, this was second to none as all the characters were well cast and acted well, and the characters all grew and changed, making good use of the title. The last time I watched was for script writing. I actually think this was inspired. To weave the whole plot around fairy tales, both existing and some written specially was exceptionally brilliant. The photography and music matched this theme, but the fairy tale setting and plot type was unique. I hope the writer won an award. Also, the director managed to pull it all together.

The title is a winner and completely describes the theme, it is OK to not be totally OK, to be different. Great work by the leads and showing the change and growth. Not enough recognition given to the autistic actor, he was also a lead and was just stunningly good, Oh Jung Se, just looked up his name. He should get an award. Another good part was that the psychiatrist, head of the hospital - I’ve seen him in different roles, always good. And the Mum Kim mi kyung, very versatile. Also the mad crazy boy who has fun and runs naked, and the agent - very good casting, so much talent.

Worth watching a second time as you pick up more little gems.

Unusual cinematography, well done. Just love it.

This drama had everything and each character was a joy to watch and I can’t say that about every drama I watch!!!! I love the relationship between gang-te, sang-the and Mun-yeong.....they had me laughing out loud during one episode and had me near tears in the next episode because of the trauma they suffered collectively!!!! Romance, suspense, mystery, mental health issues, the tireless role of a caretaker.......this drama is worth the watch. Kim Soo-Hyun, Seo Yea -Ji, and Oh Jung- Se...... rocked it

I have a been a kdrama fan for 10 years but the leads have no chemistry at all, the plot was really lacking & the drama emphasised more on the coldness, psychopath mindset of the lead Ko Mun Yeong when they could've showed more about her past,and what exactly happened that caused her to become so cold. Kim Soo Hyun had no charms, he's the stiffest actor I've ever seen, worse than Lee Minho, Kim Soo Hyun is not even good looking at all. The drama could've been better since the budget for this drama 's cinematography was set really high.

No drama is perfect, I will give it that but honestly the conflict is amazing, the relationships are amazing, the character development is impeccable. The influence each character has on one another and the bond they create over 16 episodes. I can't wait until I forget the drama so i can watch it all over again. ALSO, the OST is definitely up there for me, great music.

Kim soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji great for the parts, Oh Jung Se amazing as the autistic older brother, he is also a lead. I’ve seen him before in Suspicious partner, very talented. Kim mi Young and Kim Chang Wan always good in so many dramas as the older generation. Others good too.

I can’t recommend this enough for mere fascination, daring and thrilling expectation until the very end. Well done. I hope it rates well and gets many awards. I know it got some.

I decided to watch this again for the 3rd time as it’s exciting, plot driven, interesting on psychological and behavioural problems, well directed and above all, excellently written.

There’s nothing about it not to like, the stars are perfect, the support parts are superb especially the older people. The plot, camera, emotions, music - got it all. 
Well done to everyone, this and Crash Landing on You are the 2 best dramas of the last few years.

So good looking leads! And when I googled - the guy is the highest paid actor! This is my come on after epi 1, but as the story progressed it was not their visuals only that got me! This show was an emotional roller coaster and some of the stuff they said/address touched my heart in a way that other dramas haven't. The actors are amazing and I love Ko Mun Yeong's badassery and independence. The cinematography is beautiful and the slow burn romance makes sense and seems realistic. I just love this drama, the OST is one of the best I've ever heard too. I recommend this drama (if you're interested).

Mun Yeong is hilarious to watch but I dislike that a drama about mental health did not address MunYeong's codependency and control issues. There was also a HUGE opportunity to spotlight some legit mental health issues in a rural town, with the patients at the hospital, but the production of this drama seemed more focused on giving us Gant Tae and MunYeong screentime which sometimes were long and boring because they were unnecessary. Loved the story and relationship of the two brothers. Everything else was quite dull to watch and the last 5 episodes dragged on forever.

Without Sang Tae this would have been quite a mediocre drama.

I can’t describe or understand why exactly I am so invested in the characters, Especially Gang Tae And Mun Yeong. Ever since I finished it, my heart aches every time I think about the show. It's like a have a void that will never be filled, and I'm not even exaggerating ? I love it so much and I really hope they somehow renew this for another season, although unlikely. The chemistry between the actors kills me, each scene they’re together hurts me even if it’s a happy one. I loved the magical realism and the little details they put into the plot, which just further enhanced the great acting of all the actors. If you’re planning to watch this, I recommend preparing yourself ’cause you’re gonna feel empty for a while after finishing it. Try to not miss anything and dedicate your full attention when watching it – that’s how you’ll enjoy it the most. I don’t think I have ever shipped a couple so much, the dynamics and their backstories and the way they healed through each other are just perfect. The tension and the stares during those sweet and intimate scenes are what really pushed me off the edge. And of course, the funniest faces and lines at the most unexpected moments. I am 100% sure that this will probably be my favorite k-drama forever, I got so lost in their world and I find myself going back to it every now and then. I find comfort in them and I’ve gotten so used to it all. The familiarity you’ll develop with the show is the best part of everything. I don’t think I’d ever be the same again, I love the way I feel whenever I watch/think about it, it makes me smile and cry at the same time. My greatest wish is for these two to work together on the same project again, even if it’s not for a season 2 of IOTNBO.

Anyway, my first kdrama crush was him ever since I watched My love from star. He kept his position. Thanks to him. Hope he will create another masterpiece soon with song hye gyo. I love how almost each episode highlights a mental illness and shows the patients' point of view through the editing instead of the characters just explaining what it is and made it more impactful. Although the romance was not healthy at the start (thanks to our very forward female lead), I love how it got healthy as it progressed, as the characters themselves change for the better. The cast did such an amazing job, and it solidified my love for Seo Ye Ji, the OSTs are great, the visuals are great, the character development is great, and has the best ending I've ever seen in a kdrama. It's such a one-of-a-kind drama because of how it was executed and it deserves all praises and recognition it's getting. A definite 10/10.

I love how this drama highlighted about mental awareness and how to deal with your painful memories, emotions and past. This drama shows that everyone deserves to be happy despite what they have been through. On the other hand, Moon Sang Tae's character deserves an award. I love watching him grow and try to act like an adult . This drama had 1001 emotions and it was so wonderful & precious

There was a scene where ko mun young was looking at the suitcase inside the river and eventually leaned forward to pull it out. Thats how her mother survived I think. And that's why Mun Young had always been afraid of her mum reappearing because she was the one that kept her from dying in the first place.

Watched it cos of KSH at the start but I quickly fell in love with SYJ! <3 She portrayed the role perfectly and she’s just simply gorgeous throughout the show with the superb wardrobe choices. Great cinematography (mostly at the start tho) and a meaningful plot that brings awareness on mental health issues in current society, but the plot twist was just weird for me. Nonetheless, it’s a good drama to watch!

The cinematography, characters, actors and their dynamics is what made me give it this rating. The drama also presents a unique way of learning how to heal by introducing viewers to fairytales and short stories, which are full of life lessons.

The only minor lacking aspect of it is the plot. There are certain details, and points that could've been made clearer. I noticed that this drama is more of a character driven drama. It focuses more on the characters and their developments. I think that by the end of this drama, you will feel satisfied, happy and healed after experiencing their journey of growth.

Personally, I believe that the drama is worth watching, especially of you want to observe the incredible performances made by the main actors Kim Soo Hyun, Seo Yea Ji and Oh Jung Se.

After finishing it I was underwhelmed. I’ve seen better dramas in portraying mental health issues and a gripping emotional plot in tackling difficulties in life tbh. I can see why it didn’t hacked viewership in Korea. The other characters lack dynamic storylines and they want to execute “funny” ship-worthy scenes to start the trend on social media. From the moment the camera focused on Kim Soo Hyun’s abs, I prepared to keep my expectations low.

I was not emotionally invested with the characters (except for Sang-tae) and the storyline doesn’t make me invest to watch the next episode immediately. This drama is overrated. I certainly cringe when some people are over protective with this drama to comment something like “you have no brain to understand the story” or attacking comments with valid criticisms just to please viewership.

Gangtae and Sangtae's bond has an amazing development. I can understand the point of view of each characters and see how they overcome their childhood trauma. The ending was a nice touch and I love how the main characters have their own happy ending. The other characters gave a new addition to the drama to depict other mental health issues. I just wish that there are more plots connected to them to really contribute to the story. Even though the plot is not good because of its consistent plot holes and some unresolved character arcs, I like the mental health aspect of the drama.

Moon-young's actions stems out because of her childhood trauma that is why she is acting that way but it is wierd how people would call her cool or badass because of her personality. I guess some people are uncomfortable watching this one because of the female lead and I understand that because if the genders were reversed, touching of any body part would be really controversial to many if Gangtae had the mental illness. Her actions are excused by some because of her condition but it is not the right way to treat other people. This drama has a confusing way of conveying their characters. People say that it is about character development but they also cannot depict the inconsistencies of the characters during the course of the story. It's not the lover's job to fix someone who has trauma. Just like the couple from the OK psychiatric hospital, they separated for a while knowing that being with each other will make their relationship vulnerable and tragic if they will keep this up. Love alone won't magically heal anyone. But the drama romanticizes mental illness as something to be coped up as an easy hurdle based from the relationship of Moon-young and Gangtae. Based from my personal experience, I encountered someone who has a traumatic condition, but we didn't end up well in the end. The healing aspect that people said is not something to be dealt with in just a snap. It takes time and in need of professional help. It drains you and almost suffocates your own identity because you want to heal the other person but in the end, I was the one who became lost. I hope people will realize that this drama is not just what it seems.

erin Oct 12 2020 9:04 am the drama overall is good. they may have only tackled the supposed plot twist in just 2 episodes, it is completely understandable since the drama is character based. the only focus here are the trio and their journey to heal themselves from their f-ed up childhood. oh jung se is such a great actor and did a very good job in portraying autism. the lead's chemistry is over the top. they matched each other perfectly. the people in the hospital in my opinion, are the reason why they had the courage to face their problems tbh. i loved how lee sang in stayed by moon young's side despite creating a whole ass mess. and i also liked how they gave off a whole new meaning to food as comfort through soon-deok's cooking. (the people who kept on saying that the fl, Moon Young is annoying, manipulative and just loud clearly failed to understand the story.)

If you want to watch a drama mainly focused on the two leads being “romantic” with each other with their top visuals this is the kdrama for you. I am honestly disappointed with this one. It’s really bad that they started it off with a female lead that is just manipulative, controlling, and rude but people call her “badass” since she speaks out for herself.

The plot is all over the place. How did the mother survived that fall and how did Gangtae even managed to swim upward to the freezing water when he was unconscious? All Mun-yeong did was throw a floating thing from the water (which did not help since it is far to reach) then Gangtae suddenly woke up and swam upwards which was weird since he was frozen to death. The plot twist for the mom is also underwhelming. Everyone is so hyped up about it but the way that it’s executed was done poorly. The way mental health was envisioned for supporting characters were not shown well. It looks like some of the characters are there just to be there. I would love to see different perspectives of different characters with their own lives, but I was so fed up with the two leads having their own love thing then their dynamic is confusing because they can’t keep up with their own convictions.

On a positive note, I adore Sangtae’s character. He was a refreshing character that even though he is flawed, he still picks up on his own battles and constantly revives himself with the help of other people. I love his character development and I wish I could see more from him. I also like how the storybooks have a creative way of expressing one’s mindset in a world full of chaos and doubt. I honestly feel that the drama could have been better if they do not go over-the-top with the spooky plot that they can’t even execute properly and give more depth to other characters that have their own stories to tell.

After knowing who was the Mun yeong mother, nothing more really intrigue me, then I stopped watching. Tbh I think this drama is a bit overrated, most probably because of the cinematography and its So Hyun first project after returning from army.

The only other actor to successfully act an autistic man was Dustin Hoffman as Rainman and Jung Se is better, he is remarkable. Great direction, the girl as Ko Moon Young was thrilling too. It’s not usually my genre, but there is nothing new that’s good coming out at the moment so I watched it to fill time and was drawn in to this haunting tale.

Am making my mind up about Kim Soo Hyun, sometimes I believed him, sometimes not. He was great acting with his autistic brother but not sure he’s cut out to be a lover.

First, the character of Ko Moon Young was so annoying and unlikable. Yes, I know we’re supposed to feel bad for her because of her childhood but there was like zero character development. She was mean for no reason and manipulative beyond belief! I honestly did not find romantic her relationship with GangTae. She was always manipulating him, threatening him, making him feel like shit, she was just obsessed with him. And every bad thing she did was made to seem like it was right!! Moon Gangtae was always apologizing for shit he didn’t have to apologize for. Juri was also annoying at the beginning, she got a bit better by the end but still not crazy about her character. The CEO and the assistant were pointless!!! And them moving into Juri’s house just Why?!? Whyyy?!? I usually like the characters Jinjoo plays but here her part just didn’t add anything to the story. The so called “plot twist” I saw it from a mile away! I’m sick and tired of ill fated plots, them knowing each other when little ugh! The nurse being the evil mother who got plastic surgery was soooo stupid and predictable. I knew it was her since the beginning.

Now let’s talk about the few things I did actually “liked”. Most of them were not even about the leads but the hospital people. When Sangtae helped the old man in the bus that broke my heart and when the doctor gave him the shoes. Sangtae’s development was okay also, I like how his relationship with his brother got over time and him growing independent. The best characters were without a doubt the doctor and Juri’s mother. When she read the book Sangtae dedicated to her as his “fake real mom” that was another scene that got to me. Jaesu was a freaking awesome friend who deserved better. When Gangtae finally called him hyung that shit got to me too. Anyways, that’s about the only things I liked.

Which is very new to K dramas. It felt like they were trying to execute everything from styling to ost to filming so good that they forgot the amazing plot they had in their hands it was so pretty that it felt fake. Thats a problem that these days most K dramas have in my opinion. Too well done. The old K dramas like “full house” and “princess hours” or even “My lovely Sam Soon” had kind of magic that today dramas lacking. The acting of Moon Sang Tae was the absolute perk of this drama he made me feel emotional, sad and happy! It felt so genuine! And I really think the overall plot was quite fascinating at start but they lost it in the end with the overdone beauty that Korean culture so obsessed with. Its not like I’m not appreciating beauty but sometimes its too overpowering. Ohhh and I wish situations in K dramas will stop being so predictable for example the pretty man is making dinner and the woman grabs and hug him from behind. Its cool but its like they have a recipe of how to make a sexy satisfying moment that everyone in the industry use. Or maybe I just watched tooooooo many K dramas. In summary everyone did their job well but something lost in the way and the overall result was disappointing for me.

P.s the story of Ko Moon Yon’s mom ended so fast It was kind of weird.

Honestly, the best happy ending out of all happy endings on all k-dramas I've ever watched! It gave me such a disney-happy-ending-vibe where it's just overflowing happiness that it heals my soul. 11/10!

It made me learn a lot that's for sure, I can even say it healed me. What I liked the most about this drama is that every character is real .. there's is almost no character that's just there to fill a gap, every character has a reason, a story, and so much depth that everyone felt like a main.

The storyline, the script, the OST, the camera work, the illustrations, the laughs, the cries, the plot twists, the romance, the friendship, the character development .. everything was perfectly beautiful, everything.

Definitely not only one of my favorites but my all time favorite. I highely recommend this ❤️

Every sentences, every conversation and every actions has meaning behind it so I just cannot help but rewatching it again to try understanding the hidden meaning at the utmost. The story is well-written and so well-detailed. All the actors/actresses nail their roles. Oh Jang Se in particular is amazing. Portraying an autism isn’t an easy role but he nailed it in every single act that we cannot compliment him enough. Seo Ye Ji is so charming as KMY, her voice is very unique and strong which makes her even more attractive. She has captivated our heart since ep.1. Kim Soo Hyun is also fantastic in portraying MGT. We really hope they will do season two and strong recommend to watch this drama. The Best!

This series is undoubtedly one of the best I have enjoyed as I have never re-watched a series twice before until now - acting and story line was superb . The character Seo Yea-Ji portrayed was strong, powerful and endearing and could not help but embrace her role. Oh Jung-Se was absolutely amazing throughout the entire episodes depicting a brother with Autism. I have known and worked with some young people with Asperger and Autism and Oh Jung-Se emulated the role very well. Similarly, Kim Soo-Hyun performance as an experienced actor shone through and provided the balance within the story line. Overall, the direction and supporting cast was executed very well. However, character of Park Haeng-Ja was not explained how she survived (a) the massive loss of blood and (b) from being dropped into the water within a body bag. Notwithstanding that flaw, the series was brilliant and thoroughly enjoyable. Well done to all and has a spin off capacity for a second series with the same cast.

And here is the list of what I kinda feel like meh in this drama: 1. They never explained to us about moonyoung's mother like how did she survived that fall? Even if it was not her, then who is it? Who is the one that moonyoung's father pushed? Lets say the father didn't pushed anyone but I still need an explanation. From moonyoung's pov perhaps. 2. Moonyoung 'groped' gangtae's body when he was changing. This is an absolute turned off. Why are people still find this sexy? It's still a harassment.

Aya Aug 22 2020 6:18 pm I really enjoyed this drama, mainly because it dealt with trauma and mental issues. I think the actors did a wonderful job portraying their characters. The character that I looked forward to the most was Ko Moon Young and SeoYe Ji did not disappoint. I didn't completely agree with her description as someone who has antisocial personality disorder though, because as far as I understood the definition for that is someone who is immoral and has no problem using manipulative and aggressive behaviour to exploit others for their gain. Ko Moon Young was never immoral, but seemed to be overprotective of herself, resulting in her lashing out when she felt cornered. Her lashing out however was crazy in size compared to the insult (imagined or otherwise). She did seem to show some the symptoms, because of the values that were taught to her by her mother, but was never really a full blown sociopath. I think it was portrayed really well. Moon Sang Tae as a character was very endearing and I liked how his journey lead to independence and he was able to find something that made him happy that wasn't linked to his dependence on his brother. Out of the three main characters, Moon Kang Tae seemed like the least interesting character on paper, but ended up being the most human one. Weak and in need of love and help, but unable to show it because he had to grow up really fast and take care of his brother. Kim Soo Hyun did a wonderful job. All in all, this was definitely one of the best dramas of 2020 so far for me, because I personally enjoy this subject. It was very emotional and introspective. For people who enjoy these type of stories, it's a must watch.

Sila Aug 19 2020 12:02 pm I couldn't finish this one. The vibe is sometimes like a Tim Burton film, though not really, it is trying real hard to be one but fails miserably. Sometimes it is a modern drama-vibe, other times it is trying too hard to be like a bad horror movie. All of these atmospheres does not mix well together and makes it seem very childish and poorly made (not talking about budget). The story is too unrealistic for me, I can't bond properly with any character. The boss lady, Mun-Yeong, is faaaaaaar tooooooo much of a boss lady. Like, I get it. It's cool to have a strong woman who knows what she wants and doesn't let sweaty men fool her. But she's just plain old annoying at times and very unlikable for most of the series. All she got going for her is how pretty the actress is, which doesn't really help that much. She stalks the male lead, she tricks him, she is borderlining for sexual harassment, she threatens him, she treats him like an object she wants to own, she forces him to do stuff he doesn't really want to do - not yet at least - she is straight up mean and offensive to people who did nothing wrong and it is tiring to watch her be all cold and rude to the world, but not towards that one dude in Korea she fancies. i'm stupified that Kang-Tae actually falls in love with this woman. He'd be better off with someone who doesn't treat him like trash and an object. I just keep thinking that if the roles were switched and Mun-Yeong was male, people would find it creepy and vile to watch. The female lead is nothing but a female predator. I don't find it romantic nor engaging to watch. I get it, she was damaged as a child, but that does not mean she gets to treat people like shit and still win her prince. There are much better dramas out there, but if you like a cheap knock-off tim burton vibe here and there with ridiculous leads wearing vogue-outfits at all times while and idiotic drama, please go ahead.

Something different from your usual K-dramas, highly highly recommended. It was so meaningful. I honestly did not want the drama to end. But all good things come to an end :(

A great story full of deep life lessons of accepting oneself and their surroundings, recovery and healing, being there for each other and saying "it hurts" when you're hurting and not just bottling things up. I liked how each character had a development process and how each character's story was given an ending. I was amazed by this perfect work!!! Deserve an A+

The mysteries left unanswered can all be because of the characters' unreliable memories.

The drama wasn't really supposed to dive into the creepy past stories and make reaching plot twists. All of the thriller scenes are just to show their lives.

It was for their growth. So, I highly recommend this drama if you want to see them getting better for their own selves.

For me, Oh Jung Se was the star of the show. His portrayal of a character with autism was absolutely fantastic and he played Sang-Tae with such warmth, elegance and emotion. I loved watching him grow throughout the show and become more independent, it was really heartwarming to see.

Seo Yea Ji was also amazing. She is just perfect for the role of Moon-Young and I can’t see anyone else playing that role better than her, her voice is just so captivating and her acting is incredible.

I found Kang-Tae to be the most relatable character. I think we all hide our emotions and try to be strong for the people we love but we also need to take care of ourselves too, and it was nice to see him realise that in the end.

Lastly, I think it was really commendable how the writer raised awareness about mental health issues and portrayed these illnesses in a really humane way. We need more shows to include topics like this because there is such a big stigma around mental health that needs to be tackled.

Riceboy Aug 12 2020 10:20 pm If this were a plot-driven story, the lack of information as to how the mother could have survived is glaring. But this is a character-driven story. The sequence of events is highly dependent on the reaction of the characters involved. In this case, we have Moon-young, Kang-tae, and Sang-tae. The reveal (aka no plot twist) might have been disappointing for those who are expecting a rather “thriller”-like plot, I find it quite satisfactory for a drama that is supposed to be character-driven. It’s just like how Sang-tae tossed her detective book in episode 15, saying he isn’t interested. Moon-young is not interested in how her mother is still alive. Once she was dealt with, she just wanted her mother out of her life. It’s similar to what she did to her dad. Remember, Moon-young never bothered to clarify a single thing with her father. She never asked why he wanted to kill her. The same treatment she did to her dad, she applied to her mom. She wants to close that chapter ASAP.

It’s similar to what happened to Sang-tae. Kang-tae never really told Sang-tae that the latter was the one who fell in the river. He just apologized for all the shitty things he thought of and for wishing that Sang-tae would die instead. Why? Because for Kang-tae, it didn’t matter if Sang-tae finds out the whole truth about it. This treatment was applied to Moon-young’s case. If the show would make a spin-off about how Do Hui-jae or suddenly change the genre to thriller or crime, now that would be interesting. Until the end, the show did stick to its ultimate goal as a character-driven story. It focused on Kang-tae, Moon-young, and Sang-tae’s journey together and individually, and I think in one way or another, we all appreciated the warmth in that.

You can see he put a lot of effort in researching autism. Seo Ye-Ji was also very good in portraying her own dysfunction. Kim Soo Yun not so much, he paled in comparison to the other main actors. This drama really took one through a roller coaster of emotions very reminiscent of another psych drama, Kill Me, Heal Me. I hope Oh Jung Se & Seo Yi-Ji get the recognition the both deserve. Amazing acting skills even the supporting actors were good. I highly recommend watching this drama it was not just your normal romcom fluff, this drama actually had substance.

I like the character development and just like the actors said during their interview, it is about human healing... Kim Soo Hyun growth as an actor is evident on this drama. I understand why people will always revert back to his My Love From Another Star character but in my humble opinion, his evolution as an actor begins here... Seo Ye Ji was not a fan favorite but she was the perfect choice and she's definitely different from all the Korean actress that I have seen so far... It doesn't hurt that she looks good in all the clothes that they put on her and she is pretty.. There's no in between with this drama. You either like or hate it. I personally love the story and every character portrayal... Oh Jung Se was excellent in all the scenes... Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji portrayed their character very well. KMY lines are the lines that you would really say in real life esp those she throws to KSH ? they are not the tweety sweety lines. She is frank and tactless but how beautiful those lines roll from her lips. I ??? agree with KSH that her voice is so sexy and very attractive. She is beautiful and wonderful as well as the development of her character ? Because of love she is forgiving. And the brothers words are not enough to praise you two, this trio. KSH and you made me ??? Thank you Netflix and director and producer and Gold medalist and actors and all! I am crazy with you all! I will replay coz I cant get over it yet. My only consolation is to know that KSH and SYJ are under the same agency. They can still continue their story whether friendship or ❤️! Salute to all!

Well if you expect this is a typical easy rom-com drama, then this is not it. I feel like we all can relate a little bit from each character. Many people have a little bit of mental health issues, right? From Gang-tae, The Masked Boy who always conceal his true emotion because of all the heavy burden that he carried. Sang-tae, The Box Man who has big childhood trauma from witnessing his mom's murder and also born with autism spectrum. I can't imagine how these two brothers cope with everything. And there also Munyeong, The Empty Can Princess, the antisocial one who always hide behind her extravagant dresses to protect herself from getting hurt and push people away. I Love Them! I love how throughout the drama, they take the courage to overcome their scars, accept themselves and healed each other. Gotta give so much respect to Kim Soo Hyun (i love you always since way way back from dream high haha, whenever you cry i cry with you), Oh Jung Se (wow award please?) and Seo Ye Ji for giving their best interpretation to the characters. Shoutout to the illustrator for making those incredible art! Also it was nice to have friends like jae-soo, juri and sangin that always there, gave them support and also space. Once again i feel this is so relatable, if you can understand all their problems you can learn so much from this drama. It is okay not to be okay, we have to accept ourself with all of our scars, flaws and insecurities, love who we are, and that way we can find happiness. Now i feel healed but a bit sad that this drama is over

I think if you are looking for a light hearted and a drama to watch without having to understand the underlying meaning behind it, this drama is not for you. Skip it instead of having to watching it and then complaining that it's bad.

Oh Jung Se is fantastic in his role! I love how he wanted to protect KSH and SYJ as a big brother and overcoming his fear. I have friends who have autistic children and yes they can be very hard to handle but that doesn't mean they have no idea what is going on around them. They know their love ones and people who care for them. I hope OJS wins an award for his performance in this drama.

KSH's broke down scene when he finally learns that his brother heard and knew everything he said in the past was fantastic! That acting is so real and it breaks my heart.

Does anyone else loves SYJ voice as much as I do? The scene where she was reading her newest story, I would love to listen to an audiobook read by her! The voice is so soothing and it's just perfect!

Of course, some of the funny scene are hilarious. SYJ did a great job in this role, being a cold ice princess, a crazy woman and also one who cares for people around her. Even my mum who wasn't a huge fan of kdrama commented that she acted really well in the initial episodes as a cold emotionless person.

Overall, I enjoyed the drama and love the meaning behind the drama. Watch it and try to understand it and you will enjoy it too.

First of all,whenever I came back to Asianwiki for this drama, the voting for this always increase from time to time which means that this drama is really wonderful and best over the best..So for those who did not like this one I suggest you to make sure watch this drama just for 4 episode and trust me you will like it further more unless you hating the female lead then you will never start to watching this. Next, I Would like to thanks the writer who wrote this storykind, you all are he best! Why I said that because I also a writer so I Knew that the basic thing to write a story is about viewers feeling not about what they want to watch and what they need..Its all about your inner feeling which sometimes when you watch drama you will feel like "this role is exactly me" and from that you will watch how the role play and solving their problems. And thats what you need to do also..

Lastly..this drama popularism not depend on who play who but its depend in the flow of the story..what is in it?? Its a hope! So whoever play this role will be okay for me but I Am Glad They Put KSH And SYJ Together...Hahahahaa

I loved it more because the storyline was different than the others.. U like every other kdrama with the normal cliché this one is different and it's special in its own way so it's okay if some people do not like it.. But as for me.. 100/100..so far this year, this is for reals my best series so far. No cap. I loved every aspect of it and I super loved the fact that it was not predictable at all. I loved all the twist and damn Ko Mun Young was killing it with all her dresses.. They were on fire.. I really couldn't pick of I loved her long hair more or the short one.. Lol Moon Gang Tae ×Moon Sang Tae.. I'm really gonna miss you guys... I like the fact that they extended the end a little bit. The fact that they didn't rush the ending like some other kdrama, it was nice.. And at the end of ep 16 I love the BTS that they showed. It made me laugh sooo much.. I was happy to see them having fun Behind The Scenes.. Especially the part where KSH danced like a robot.. I had to watch it twice it was soo cute.. I think I've written enough.. Lol.. Okok.. Lastly.. If you are thinking of watching I recommend this if you are looking for something new and fresh + the genre are; Comedy, Romance, Psychology, Hosputal(if that's a genre.. Lol) and Romance.. Sunday Aug 10 2020 4:10 pm I want to say one of the best kdramas of 2020 ever, but it's actually one of the best kdramas that have ever been produced in kdrama history. I love it so much! From a certain point, I found myself shedding tears at least once each episode. The scenes were either touching or heartbreaking. The messages in this drama also felt like they could heal a few broken souls. Everyone has demons, but it's up to us to overcome them rather than let them control our lives. I want to say more, but I may end up writing an entire essay so I'll just quickly end it here. Give this drama a try if you want to see broken characters heal as they overcome their fears and learn to love themselves as well as accept love from others.

jessica Aug 10 2020 7:43 am thank you for jo yong for writing this drama so well, also the casts, pd, and staffs that put much efforts to bring this drama came true! iotnbo is really that one drama that is perfect at everything. this series is a masterpiece. i like that this drama portrays about mental health issues and opens up people's new perspectives about it. this series also teaches us a lot of lessons, good deeds that we can do in life. the plot, the storyline is unique, it's really fun, like, i immediately started watching this because i saw that scene where munyeong made a small cut on her finger with a knife, where can you find a character like ko munyeong? once again, it's really a human healing drama, i really enjoyed it and loved it! :) feel like it will take a while for me to pick up another new drama to watch, this one really left a strong impression on me, haha. lastly, hands down to oh jungse who portrayed someone with autism spectrum disorder very well, and jang young nam, who acted as the head nurse (and the mom) should get a lot of credits too!

I’m so glad that some aspects of it and the plot weren’t milked to exhaustion (never felt once compelled to fast forward!) as in quite a few Korean dramas. Seo Yea Ji and Oh Jung-Se shine particularly brightly. Shout out to Ms. Kim Mi-Kyung. I’ve seen her in a few different series & I love watching her! She’s a brilliant actress who often outshines her ‘younger’ lead role colleagues. Why is she so typecast?!

Zam zam Aug 10 2020 7:14 am This kdrama is the best of 2020 period. It's a masterpiece! Totally different from other cliche lovey dovey type of kdrama like cloy or tkem. Itaewon class was gd in the beginning but it died down in the end. Iontbo makes me excited and wait every weekend to watch the next eps. The cast is amazing. Even the kissing scenes between the two main actors is hotness and amazing.. And that's the way to do real kiss.. Not just a peck and fish face like most kdramas hahaha. Pls do season 2. I've learned a lot from this movie. And I see mental patients in a different way now. Thanks to the director producer and cast for this masterpiece. Don't listen to the negativity. It's okay to be different.. U will not regret this drama.

noneedtoknow Aug 10 2020 5:18 am this is one of the best dramas I've watched. some may say that story was simple and lacking but in all honesty this drama was never about it's story, it was about characters, and how they changed and developed throughout the drama. actors where amazing portraying their characters. not only the main cast but supporting ones as well, they did amazing job, u could feel their sadness, happiness. some people tend to think that female lead was annoying but she was amazingly written character, and she is a reason i gave this drama a try. she was really complex and in my opinion quite misunderstood character, who went through a lot being all alone and being raised by shitty parents. she deserved "turning into a human again after being an empty can for too long". sang tae's and gang tae's brotherhood was simply amazing, especially with them realizing that they only belong to themselves and can live without each other. if i continue to talk about them this review will be endless so i going to move on to other things which made this drama simply breathtaking. first of all cinematography was wonderful. secondly- soundtracks were magnificent, each of them were well suited to story and it is one of the few times when i liked all songs used in drama. honestly i can keep on praising this drama but i don't want to spoil anything for future viewers so i'm gonna stop now. <3

Eventhough, honestly, I'm still curious and want to know more about the relationship/trauma between Munyeong and her mother, but it's okay, since this drama is focusing on how the characters heal themselves. This felt like.... a rollercoaster ride? I laughed, cried, and even got mad too while watching this. But even so, I also like that the conflict doesn't appear too long and is concluded quickly. This drama teaches many lessons, values in life. The character's development and growth is very beautiful and seeing that it was very touching and I couldn't help but cried too. As someone who's rarely satisfied with a drama's ending, surprisingly, I feel really satisfied with this one. Good job to the actors, the writer, the PD, and the staffs! If you haven't watch this drama, please give it a try, this one is fun and is very touching! (p.s. to DaebakFran below here, honestly? What's wrong with your poor comment? If you liked 'Crash Landing on You' and found this boring, then it's okay, it's about one's preference anyway. But I don't think you should write a poor comment like that just to justify your preference, and to think that you only watched the first episode. Finish the entire series first, then you can write whatever comments you want!)

But the drama I watched was wonderful from start to finish. A story about 3 individuals who grow into a family in the backdrop of mental health issues. This is one of the best K dramas broadcast this year. The storytelling was top-notch and the cast was stellar.

It draws on folktales as well as fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast as well as the Wizard of Oz while creating its own world of children's stories. As someone with a literary bent, I have nothing but praise for how these well-known tales are incorporated into the storyline here.

jjing Aug 10 2020 3:46 am quite the emotional roller-coaster. i had aloot of feelings trough it. and most of episodes were interesting in a way or another. ofc not every episode was a epic one. but i'd say that's normal after all this is more about ppl problems. and i'd consider it more of a slice-of-life kinda off. and ya it had it's problems. which is ok. only thing i actually think they did wrong was rushing things on episode 15. and making the 16 having aloot of boring stuff. though early on and the ending was rly nice, and sweet. last thing. you should give it a chance.this was prob the best drama of this season.

Because of the pandemic I found Kdramas and I can say I watched a lot of them,from medical,historical,law,fantasy etc. I always read the comments and respect the opinions, but I can’t agree why people make so mean and hurtful comments. This is my first ever review, is true I didn’t like all of the ones I watched, is true I don’t always like the endings, it is true I like some more than other ones,but I will never say something mean or ugly about them or the actors or the cast or anything that can hurt the feelings of all the people who work so hard to give us pleasure. I did love iontbo,I my opinion one of the best that I watched in any language. But the reason I write this is to remind fans how hurtful words could be, so if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it or find the way to express yourself with love instead.

Her character, voice, beauty are so unique. I also fell in love how deep all the actor and the actress portrayed their role,, and the plot is not mainstream, creepy, funny and healing at the same time. I would rate this 10/10. Wow! and Wow! I can't say enough about this drama. Acting: Stellar. Storytelling: Consistent and Beautiful. You will laugh, you will cry and you will be annoyed. This drama takes you through it all. I feel as if I know these characters, and they will stay with me for a long time. I didn't know what to think when I saw episode 1 and 2, but I am glad that I continued! I love that it does not sugar-coat the traumas, and that the people work it out instead of running off to the woods. Lastly, there are many 'sayings' in this story that I will take with me in my life. I have been enriched by this story.

I really liked the usage of fables and fairytales (example, the reference to the red shoes in episode 2). Main actress style of dress is outstanding. I suppose, the psychosis of the main actress could have been explored to greater depth. But overall, one of the best drama I have ever seen.

From their parents, Gang Tae grown up to be responsible,patience and self-control, Sang Tae to be the best he can be using his gift and even reminding others how to behave well and Moon Yeong became a children book author because of one good memory with her father which she continue to remember even after his death. Gang Tae received great help and sound advice from his best friend Jaesu, Director Ko and Jisu’s mother. This is the best drama I have watched over a decade watching kdrama. All the casts did well especially the 3 mains. Every episode have loveliness to admire and bring smile and humour. It is one drama I’ll collect for repeated future viewing. It encourages me to be gentle with my words. As for rating, it just reflect the percentage of Koreans watching during airing time but this drama is for paid tv which people subscribed to watch more quality programmes in addition to free tv and at their own time and pace.

Truth be told, i can clearly see what the end of this drama will be. Instead of focusing on the MC's, at least they could give the other characters more screen time, as well as comedy content to lessen some of the drama. For the fans, don't be angry with me as this was my opinion, but i don't think this drama is by far the best.

I will watch them but as the show progress, I feel to abhor the development. There’s a lot of disappointing drama for me. And a lot drama for me feels underrated. Maybe it’s simply difference in taste.

However, this drama just got the genres I like drama and psychology.

I gave cried in other shows too, but because of character's pain, this time, particularly ep14, had me crying because I felt every single of Ko Mun Yeong's tears. It is such a beautifully made drama... I just love it. Every single character in this show is broken someway, be it Moon Gang Tae or Moon Sang tae or Jae So, or Lee Sang In or Oh Cha Yong, or Nam Ju Ri everyone has some problems, some have it big, some have it small, but they all are coping. It shows how no one is perfect. It is really a must watch. The OST? Its just other worldly good. I even have Elaine's Wake up as my ringtone. You gotta listen to that song if u think something is stopping you. Its awesome.

KSH acting is fantastic (that's why he expensive). everyone think that their chemistry are on another level but i think she looks wayyy comfy with LJG in lawless lawyer (if u only looking at backstage actually). the point is, this is a great show to spend my 16+ hours of my life. thanks.

Kim Soo-Hyun was the initial reason why I had it in my radar months before its release. The unique and profound story and characters superbly portrayed by Oh Jung-Se, Seo Yea-Ji, Kim Chang-wan, Jang Young-Nam, Kim Mi-Kyung and, of course, Kim Soo-Hyun made this drama worth waiting for week after week after week. As I've said, the storyline is unique - it veers away from KDramas' usual love story, mystery, drama and twists. This probably explains why the ratings are low in Korea? I love how the stories of the patients are unfolding - Kan Pil-Wong the soldier, Yoo Sun-Hae the abused child by her stepmother and abandoned by her own father etc. Yes, @sf, there are a lot of crazies here but this is OK Psychiatric Hospital afterall. :) It's Okay to Not Be Okay will be one of my faves along with Mr. Sunshine.

I love the story line(s), character development, and realistic interplay between childhood traumas and present pathologies. Just read that Ko Moon-Young was diagnosed with Anti-social Personality Disorder. Not sure I agree. Folks with this diagnosis don't usually have remorse or shed many tears or show interest in others. Maybe some post traumatic stress with defensive self protective behaviors. I admire the great acting of Oh Jung Se as Moon Sang Tae. I have worked with children and adults who have autism spectrum disorders. Each is unique. His portrayal is superb. Not since Dustin Hoffman played "Rain Man" have I seen such true representation. Award winning.

Maybe Ko Moon-Young's mom is one of the Parks. Would explain why Ko Moon-Young did not recognize Park Ok-Ran when she arrived at her house to wish her a happy birthday and why she left a note like that.

If Park Haeng-Ja (nuse Park) is actually Ko Moon-Young's mom then it would explain the same exact outfit/nail color/butterfly pin as her mom's.

BTS Fan in the Making Jul 31 2020 2:10 pm When Ep 10 was broadcasted, I thought it's nearing the end and it made me feel sad. This is the first drama that I felt I don't want it to end. I've been a fan of k-drama since Something happened in Bali (don't ask for my age hahaha). Before I was so obsessed with Gentleman's Dignity that I re-run episodes everyday. This drama is so beautiful and I must agree with Kim Soo-hyun, it's a human healing drama. I cried, I fell in love, I laugh, all emotions are strongly shown on their characters. Shout with me, if this is not going to be extended, please let them lead for another drama or movie!!!!!!!!!!!

I like this drama a lot, a very fresh one. Each day waiting for each episode is totally worth it. The first 3 main lead acting are really awesome. You will not be disappointed with the currently highest paid actor Kim Soo-Hyun, and definitely Seo Yea Ji deserves an award, but I will also give vote for Oh Jung-Se to be the excellent actor for his spectacular acting here. Not only to mention the acting of this drama, the cinematography, OST,s , scripts, every scene , and more...this is one of the drama that will definitely will catch your attention.

He has few works than his peers, but all are quality works and award winning. His latest work is no exemption. Its a masterpiece. The writing/story, the production, the other actors, crew, PD, are all brilliant. And the life lessons, are relatable and timely. I've experienced a roller coaster of emotion watching this. But overall, overwhelming happiness is the high emotion I feel specially that millions of fans in many countries feel and think the same way. I hope they win many awards in the coming award season. They all deserve it. Its realistic, raw, no BS, no knight in shining armor complex, everyone has vulnerabilities but they also help each other become strong.This drama will go down in history as one of best Kdramas in history. Sociopaths are the most repulsive of all people with personality disorders, because they are manipulative, they have no regard for other people's feelings and they border into being criminals. She somehow forces herself into him by always being there until he gives in. It's the actors and the rest of the characters that really made this interesting but Ko Mun Yeong is the weakest link here. Sorry.

The king donkey ear. i think the moral of the fairy tell is misinterpreted by the writer. the only common things are Sang tae is yelling the secret of Kang tae. which is we know the other truth. as we live in society law and secrecy we tend to lie a lots of thing. just to make things go easier and moving on without issue, but for sang tae who can differentiate a lie from kang tae it's becomes a problematic. and Kang tae should realize it and let it go, we still don't know the more reason Kang tae is holding on Sang tae too much, not just because a promise. there must be other reason and secret.

The small kiss scene on ep 9 is just so beautiful. If you pay more attention to the actors' emotions, you'll definitely feel blown away. Kim Soo Hyun's eyes said it all. It showed how Gang Tae was a bit taken aback by what he did, how he was looking for confirmation, and how happy and relieved he was when Munyeong smiled back to him. His eyes were a bit teary even.

But it's kinda scary how they potrait obsessiveness as love but sure maybe she'll change over time and that's great. Oh, don't make me start talking about the the FL wardrobe it's beyond this world extremely pretty and the way they do her hair is just *chef kiss* I haven't watched any dramas with the ML since dream high, I got hooked into him there but he's kinda slip over my mind now and then. He's just... What can I say? Too good to be true that's why he's forgatable (for me) you know when you have crush to someone beyond your league? This is the important note : this drama is going to be the one that I regret to watch IF they have seasons cause it's Korean drama I just want to watch it 16 ep happy ending and that's all no dragging things and This is the catch, if TV shows ended up having seasons it's going to be hard to end the seasons with and open ending cause that's just mean we wasted our time to have no closure at all after all of the seasons we watched OR the characters going to die and that's not the thing I want to watch especially on korean's drama

The writer and actors (lead and support) have succeeded in making the audience cry in one minute and then laugh out loud in another; brilliant. Nevertheless, I am not here to talk about all that or how much I am enjoying watching ‘It’s ok not to be okay’. I am here to praise Mr. Oh Jung-se’s remarkable depiction of Moon Sang-Tae. Thank you. And if you are one of them, I highly recommend this drama. It's a very good watch if you're sick of the same plot and theme of Kdramas. It's is so fresh and the actors, the actors, when I say the actors I mean every one of them, they are the best! Best casting ever. At first I was not into the theme because it was kinda dark and odd but the acting really touched my heart. The way they portrayed their characters were perfect. The more I watched every episodes, the more I got into the drama. The story is very heartwarming as well. I remembered the synopsis on this page when it was not yet release was "their journey in healing" which is no longer there. And I think that is really the message of the drama. This is the best Kdrama of 2020 for me so far. Although it has received a lot of criticisms, it does not matter because this drama is sooooo worth it!

This show gets me through the week as I stress myself with my online classes. It really gives me something to look forward to. Pacing and storyline are not for everyone but this is definitely on the top of my list along with 2 other Korean dramas. Every episode got me waiting. It's either because I love their chemistry so much and I want more, or because of the slow burn hints about their past.

Actors are all amazing, especially our main three. Comedy and drama on every episode are all so good and well-played. Cinematography is so good. Everything is so creative.

Hyun Bin for example (Jekyll, Hyde and I) except for Song Kong Ki (DOTS). I think Koreans still remember his last film "Real" which was a big flop... i hope Koreans did not lose their trust in KSH...Though this drama was not able to capture the hearts of its motherland---Korea!

This show is not for everyone but the fact that so many ppl all over the world are relating to it says that we all needed this. Kim Soo Hyun has always picked good dramas no matter what the ratings. He didn't go for a cliché role but he picks this character as his comeback role, I have cried and been touched by this show so much that no other movie or drama can come close. I have also learned so much. Such an eye opener. In addition to the concept everything else is on point too. For those who have experienced some form of mental issues, this drama is really the healing type of drama that the cast kept mentioning. For those who never felt bad in their life , you better not waste your time here cuz you won't get it.

jjing Jul 15 2020 6:23 pm as of ep 7 story inst necessary bad. it's pretty interesting actually. but the downside is pretty huge as well. here what you will feel more than anything is bad for the male lead. as from the start his only reason to live is to make sure his brother would be fine.and then the female lead appears. the actress does a rly good job the same as the male lead. but the woman she's acting at. is pretty fked up. she's possessive. and manipulative. tho she's rly charming. it's just feels like even more burden for the ML at this point tbh. and it's seem's stuff get even more complicated on ep 8 with her secretary. don't even remember his name tbh. all in all it's stil a nice story u'll prob be rushing all episodes at once. cuz the pace insn't bad

mei Jul 14 2020 7:13 pm hands down best kdrama i’ve watched this year!! i love how it delves into mental health, a sensitive and stigmatized topic that even the real world avoids talking about. it tackles topics from mental illnesses to mental & emotional healing, and the struggles that come with it. the show perfectly portrays just how complex the human mind is, and how we shouldn’t be too quick to judge someone’s behavior and way of living. you’ll really learn so much from each character.

i am in awe of kang tae & mun yeong’s chemistry— how both of them play a huge role in each other’s lives. their relationship goes way back so it’s exciting to see how their relationship develops. i also admire the brotherhood of kang tae & sang tae, even if their relationship can get a little rocky sometimes!

also if you’re wondering how much this drama has affected me, i cried like 20 times watching this drama ? especially when mun yeong was having nightmares and kang tae showed up. mun yeong kept pushing him away that night, but kang tae knew she was only pleading for him to stay ? don’t we all need a kang tae in our lives? haha

super unique and intriguing storyline, romance and mental health, with a hint of comedy (i love mun yeong’s occasional dirty jokes!) and most of all, an eye-opener! kudos to everyone behind this amazing drama! if you’re thinking on watching this drama, Go For IT. could easily give it a 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I especially love the fact that this drama is being streamed during these trying times. Mental health is such a sensitive topic and I’m very much amazed at how it is presented creatively in the show. Highly recommended, especially for those who love complex storylines, subliminal messages and Tim Burton-like animations. Last but not the least, the chemistry between KSH and SYJ is electrifying! Really hoping that the ending will be satisfying for us fans :)

It was so good that everytime I watch it I still laugh so hard. This drama is beyond what I expected. All the cast is handpicked perfectly. No one is overpowering the other. They act so well. I remember how much I hated Tempted/Great Seducer because Moon Ga Young, Woo Do Hwan and Kim Min Jae played it so well but whenever I see Joy, I dont see her character. But this drama is on the highest level of quality acting. Like they were bor. to be an actor/actress. Please watch it every week. You'll understand what I mean ❤❤❤

When he see butterflies, or someone simply mentions the word butterflies to him (like the OK hospital director did in ep.5? when Sang Tae was painting the hospital’s wall) he goes into a panic mode. So how was it possible for Kang Tae, the younger brother, to teach him the Butterfly Mind Calming technique (ep.2) in order to get him out of ... panic mode? It’s kind of contradictory. Even absurd. Anyone?

Seo Yea-Ji's performance in the drama is 10/10 in my opinion. The way she potray's her character's hardship is really to admire. I think this story has a lot to offer and i cant wait to get more to come. I'm honestly surprise with the viewership cause i think this deserve better.

For me, Gangtae and Munyeong looks the same (ateast a little resemblance) dont you think? Adding the mini stories each episode creates a consistent story line. Smart move for the writer :)

shiningKat Jul 12 2020 3:25 am Honestly, this is one of my must watch dramas this year. The story is not that typical romance that we are all used to. Probably will not be liked by those who are only looking for that romantic moments but this has a lot more to offer than your typical drama. Sensitive issues are being addressed and the build up of each episode to the main character's issue is great.

This drama is really making me rethink how I view certain things in life and really it makes you see that it really is okay to not be okay. We don't have to pretend to be brave all time, we can admit that we need someone beside us to get us through things. This drama is just halfway but I am totally hooked to all the characters and the plot. I cried a lot on Episode 07 and that says a lot for my type of personality. Can't wait for the next episode tonight and all others!

Hope everyone finds the artistic and sensitive side to this drama! This is really something that I can put on my re-watch list (recent additions: My Mister, Find Me In Your Memory...).

This was supposed to be Kim Soo Hyun’s come back drama to remember and rewatch. That’s why his fans aren’t happy. Because this drama will be remembered not for his acting, but for the writer’s shitty script and plagiarism. Not one episode or idea in this drama is original. Every dialogue, every scene is created from bits and pieces that are brazenly lifted from other dramas, famous fairy tales, Hollywood movies, even recent American news stories ( a month ago autistic teen was left to drown by his mom who couldn’t take it any longer ) Even a late Korean songwriter wasn’t spared, his lines were put in the drama’s dialogue.

jennie Jul 11 2020 10:36 pm some of you needs to get educated because you guys seriously do not understand the whole point of the drama. i'm 35 years old and I have watched multiple dramas, even from the veterans. but this drama is just so different. everything about it is perfect and every single thing falls right into their places. from the cast to the script writing and cinematography and to IOTNBO's soundtrack is amazing. even with the book Ko mun-yeong writes as it plays such a big role on her character. Seo Ye Ji (Ko Mun-Yeong) and Kim Soo Hyun (Moon Gang-tae) acting skills are top notched. i've always been a fan of kim soo hyun's acting skills but his performance on this drama made him set the bar high. he's like possessed, he's a completely different person and you can feel his emotions through the screen. as for seo ye ji, she's truly amazing. she's really fit for the portrayal of Ko Mun-yeong. she can change and switch of her emotions through her eyes. it makes you sympathetic towards her scars and every hurtful thing she's been through in the past. both character leads have their deep stories and it just makes me want to look forward on it. i love this drama so much and it rightfully deserves all the praise it receives and in fact, it deserves more.

KM Jul 11 2020 10:09 pm Looks like Moon Young’s dad is not a monster. Did her mom kill Kang Tae’s mom? Then the main leads can’t be together. Did her mom kill the mental patient in episode 1 too? Is there a serial killer on the lose? Someone we haven’t seen yet? It doesn’t make any sense. Also. We find out that Kang Tae’s mom loved him. Why does he have to read some idiotic stores to realize that he was loved? I’m not holding my breath for the “butterflies horror story” that makes the two brothers move to a different place every year. Doubt it something that makes sense. Nothing really does, as the stories unravel. Everything that previously looked tragic, comes off as trivial.

When she let go of the shawl, she felt as if she was finally free from the tree, which is the guilt towards her mother. The same applies to Munyeong when she cut her hair but the true story of her mom is still unclear

Lolita Jul 11 2020 8:59 pm In episode 7, did they or did they not call Kang Tae a Dog on a leash? It’s the name of the children’s book by Moon Young that his older brother was reading on the bus. The writer puts a new book or a fairy tale in each episode. These stories supposed to carry a “great moral” of the day for Kang Tae and explain his behavior.. Why exactly is he a dog on a leash in this episode? Is the FL saying that he should unleash himself on her? Or on his mental patients? She IS his patient. He himself diagnosed her with antisocial disorder in episode 1 AND 2, remember? So he should behave ethically towards Moon Young character as a professional nurse he is. What does she want him to “unleash”? He is respected by his coworkers, loved by his brother, friend, and other people. Should he just go crazy and do what? Have sex with a disturbed girl he is trying to help?

The topics the drama address, are the usual points that society neglects. The mental health issues are portrayed absolutely well. And episode 7,will have your eyes filled with tears, when you witness the love of a mother. And the chemistry between the two, is on fire ?. I am so glad that, these cast and crew launched a script which portrays mental health and healing, rather than usual RomComs. Will definitely miss the couple after finale ?

Mandy Jul 11 2020 3:28 pm I just have to say, Seo Yea-Ji's clothes in here are beautiful and she always looks stunning. Kim Soo-Hyun's are more simple yet he looks absolutely gorgeous in them. Which is a hard thing to do as most of the male actors in dramas need clothes to accentuate themselves and their personalities but he still shines through without all that. My favorite drama, hands down. I wish I had of waited until it was finished first though, waiting is torture.

Waiting for the drama is torture and watching the drama is giving me so much heartache, making me deal with so many emotions at the same time. If Kim soo hyun is on the screen, I forget to breathe and if he is not I'm frustrated. As if this is not enough gang-tae's grief is hitting me hard and is reminding me of my own suppressed issues especially episode 7. I hope I can heal along with his character by the end of the drama or my opened wound will leave a scar. At the end of every episode I end up with a burdened heart and angst as if I just experienced a bitter breakup. Everything said I won't/can't stop watching this drama and love all characters in it.

I get it why it has low ratings but I think most people just watch it on Netflix as it is always number one in other countries and it became most-watch as it was included in top 10 movies/series most-watch. At first I was just like "okay his mom was bad...like so many other k dramas." But this episode really added another layer and went deeper.

And can we just appreciate that staircase scene?!?! (not the one where Kim Spo Hyun caught the director--though I loved that too xD) Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yejin's chemistry there was Crazy.

Like Ko Moon Young's book, a lot of people say it is too dark and cruel. They just do not understand the message behind it. K-Drama fans mostly like something fluffy, pretty, and easy. If this was released in J-Dorama version, i think this story will be more acceptable.

Anyway, i want to say I love all the children stories tales on this drama and the hidden messages that the writer put on this drama. The writer draw another perspective of mental illness. The CG, Anime, and The OST also bring a beautiful element. Seo Ye Ji is the jackpot for this story. It is not easy to portray an aggressive, hot-tempered, and heartless Ko Moon Young and she did it beautifully. She looks like a queen of the dark.

Accepting someone like Ko Moon Young is hard, that is why so far there are only Moon Kang Tae and 5% SK people who did it, those who think it is okay to be not okay.

Aze Jul 10 2020 4:55 am I think this drama has potential to be great. I just finished ep 6 and i'm loving it. The storyline is unique and very mature, maybe the reason why some don't like it. If you are into sweet romcom type of drama then don't watch coz you may not like it, although I find it funny and romantic at times. I've watched so many korean drama since 2005 from all genres and i can say that this will be included in my list of great dramas. I'm a fan of kim soo hyun since his moon embracing the sun drama, he is a great actor, one of the best. My first time to watch the lead actress and i love her already, she's also very good. Her facial expression alone is a killer.

Seo Ye jin has nailed her character as a patient with Anti Social Personality Disorder, who had a terrible childhood. Those who needs the usual RomComs etc.. please come out of your shells. The drama has already embraced by the word wide fans.

She became like that because of what she experienced when she was young. That's why this drama is about the journey of every character's healing progress.

I want to see the development of the girl to embrace her feeling to come to realization that she fell for the guy not because of greed. I hope later on the girl will be a shoulder to cry on for the guy, because I think it’s only fair that the guy needs a break for everybody to rely on him. This is going to be a “daebak” drama that I’ll rewatch it again in the future. I secretly ship them together in real life. They’re so cute together!!

In addition to a brilliant script, a wonderful cast, the story presents the Korean drama from a new perspective. I never imagined that I would love Tim Burton's fantastic world so much, but this is what has been happening to me since I started this drama. The chemistry of KSH and SYJ is something that transcends any explanation. in addition to the plot being complete and pleasing all tastes, I have never seen such beautiful clothes and accessories in an actress. She is perfect, beautiful, sensual, different. I love each episode too much, which in the end, I end up repeating over and over again.

I kick myself for accidentally stumbling on to this series, and watched it without realizing that it's not completely released yet (7/5/2020). Binging is now not possible. Just wait until the season ends in August to watch the whole thing in one shot? Ludicrous! The hook has been set. Now, I am fumbling for Netflix to find out when the next episode is released.

The music and the camera work are awesome!

ASD stands for Autism Spectrum Disorder so when you say "this one has ASD, this one is autistic" it sounds weird and is misleading. Also, Aspergers is no longer in the DSM-V or the ICD-10 (the guidelines for diagnosing mental disorders), Aspergers is grouped in with ASD. So to say "indicates Aspergers more than autistic" it's just plain wrong. It seems to me like you have simply googled mental disorders just like you think the writers did, and have claimed some authority of knowledge. Finally, it sounds to me like you are confused why Moon Sang Tae acts like a "lower functioning" person, but still is literate, witty, and a very loving and kind person. That is actually the only thing I think this show has done well in regards to depicting an autistic person. Moon Sang Tae could be an independent person if people were more willing to understand him and his situation (i.e the family in the bookstore, and his employer who fired him). *note i'm only partly into episode 3 so I apologize if later episodes show something different.*

The focus is on caregivers and staff and portrays it in a quirky and fun way through fairy tales. All those saying The medical conditions are not diagnosed or not treated should know the focus is not on treatment But the focus is on the simple activities and how they have their wown life and have fun in that way. Nort to be afraid of menatl health patients and consider them only that.

The shows focus is more on caregivers and the quirky staff including the director. They are not directly doctors but they play an important role and this show just focuses more on that. The fairy tale twist is just to spice up the emotions and look it in a different perspective. So that normal people are not scared of such patients and their situations. Rather seek different fun angle. Also this romantic comedy not a medical drama. Let it remain fun for us.

It’s like the writer Googled every mental illness and copy pasted on every character. This one has ASD this one is autistic, this one is a sexual exhibisionist, and so on and on. Who diagnosed them? Joker? Looks like it. Looks like Joker also trained the mental hospital workers as well, their behavior is so inappropriate. The use of many different fairy tales themes distract from the seriousness of the situations, make it into a farce when we are ready for a heartbreak. The FL character looks like someone with PTSD not ASD, after we se the horrors she grew up with. The KT brother’s episodes being triggered when someone is touching his head, indicates Asperger’s syndrome more than autistic. Besides, he comes across as highly functioning and witty in his dialogue. Seriously, did writer just Googled all the fairy tales and mental disorders in order to come up with ideas for this script?

Jen Jul 02 2020 1:41 am I’ve only watched the four episodes available, but I can confidently say that I am in love with this drama. Kang-Tae and Moon-Young’s relationship and chemistry is conveyed very well through their respective actors. I absolutely love Yea-Jin’s character, she’s so unlike most female leads and I’m very interested in seeing her development throughout the series amongst the rest of the cast. Sang-Tae is so lovable and I find myself loving him more with each episode. Jung-Se does an absolutely amazing job in portraying him. Dong-Yeon’s performance was especially superb and despite his albeit short appearance his character left a long lasting impression and managed to pull at my heartstrings. By the end of the fourth episode I found myself in tears while Kang-Tae was reading “Zombie Kid” and reminiscing his childhood. It reminded me a lot of my own and how I also struggled with not receiving as much attention as I would’ve liked from my mother as she cared for my mentally ill brother. Relating to the drama on such a personal level was definitely something I least expected and for that I want to applaud the writers. Mental illness is sadly a taboo topic in many societies around the world and to have a drama covering it means a whole lot. Hopefully this drama will help people realize the importance of speaking about mental illness and that those effected by it are no less important than the rest of us. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the drama!!!

The theme of ‘trauma’ and the exploration of mental illnesses is so enticing to me. Not to mention the male leads beautiful acting skills. So far this drama is easily my top pick for 2020.

I find that all of this is performed in a very childish and overly fanciful way. It would have been so good if it would have been treated in a more realistic and more mature way like It okay that love. I really think that's one of the reasons the rating are so low in SK. It is a drama that may appeal to adolescents, but most people aged 25-30 will surely find it too childish.

Every episode has a lesson to learn with a beautiful ironic fairytale to enjoy that related to the lead couple story. I think the story makes me think a lot about human and their hidden pain. This drama is more than romantic comedy eventhough I laugh a lot at some part. idk if it will be a big hit or not in the future, but yes Kim soohyun choose a right comeback project after his long hiatus. So far, really enjoy the story.

The characterisation is first-class, and the storyline goes into very dark but fascinating places. Although the narrative can be understood in terms of Jung's analytical psychology, there is an attractiveness and energy about the action which makes this drama unique and outstanding in the genre. I'm looking forward to the next episodes to see what unfolds. I can't possibly make predictions at this point.

His mom probably has some connection to the mom witch, maybe a huntress or just simply trying to discover the truth. The witches probably get new bodies after their old ones die or something, that's why their soul stays around.

I'm loving the plot of this drama. It's giving me the 'Haunting at Hill House' type vibe which is top notch psychological horror! Btw... I think the synopsis of the story has been lost in translation. I guess Ko Moon Young is a sociopath and not having antisocial disorder? I maybe wrong since I'm judging it with just 4 episodes in...

I love Seo Yeaji's acting in this drama. I wasn't sure about her but she's making me love her character so much! the story of the zombie kid made me bawl my eyes out! I love the chemistry between KSH and SYJ. he acts like he doesn't care about her or is afraid of her... but then his little burst of possivenes makes my heart flutter! I thought Moon Gang Tae's character would have been overshadowed by such strong female lead, but KSH is proving me wrong. Can't wait for the next episode!

However, she is also exhibiting symptoms of Impulse control disorders(ICD) such as kleptomania, conduct disorder (CD) and intermittent explosive disorder (IED). I still am not sure if her hallucinations are recurrent but these symptoms could probably be caused by the trauma that she had when she was younger (physically by his father and emotionally by her mother) which could justify the actions that she did even in her childhood.The female lead's character has been established. Thus far, I'm still intrigued with the male lead's character, although I have speculations about his personality I'll be keeping it to myself in the meantime. The butterfly will surely play a huge role in the following episodes. I've only seen three episodes and I can already say that this drama is well made and totally binge worthy. I really like these type of drama which not only gives you the feels but also makes you think deeper.

It's powerful to actually see that although he came to the psychiatric hospital to cure his manic episodes, the manic episodes itself is the very thing that helps him detach himself from his cruel reality; the reality that drove him crazy in the first place. It's beautifully paradoxical. And not to mention the chemistry between the leads...well, I had a good pillow thrashing moments. The honorable mention for me is the nurse that has a crush on the male lead. I found her a very unique character; the kind that feels really passionate and possessive towards the man she loves, but disguised it under the pretense of a mild-tempered, good girl-like mask. From the moment I saw her, I knew she is capable of being an evil bitch. Don't believe me? Just wait until she reaches her breaking point. And we know that there is a hidden past between her and the female lead. I can't wait for the next episode.

First 2 ep was like description about moonyoung and kang tae. I wanna know why juri looks so annoyed with moonyoung, what happen on their past. What happen with kangtae's mom? Moonyoung's parents?

Overall, i really enjoy the story and cinematography.

Before the drama aired I didn’t like female lead that much but as I see her acting ability and her chemistry with KHS , I’m starting to like her. As for KSH ..he never fails me, he is always very good in every role he plays. The story is not so difficult and has some funny part that’s why it’s easy to relate and a stress reliever , well at least there’s also mysterious but lovable part for the spice. Thumbs up!!!

The director did a really good job with the cinematography, It looks visually aestetic and the sound is so clear like we are listening to asmr. When i read the synopsis i thought it gonna be an emotional mellodrama. But first ep actually has comedy, fantasy and even thiller in it. This is one of a kind, not saying this just because i am a fan of kim soohyun. SYJ needs to accept or decline the role of GMY the children’s writer so until then we’re pretty much waiting....It appears from the synopsis that PGY character has a one sided love with KSH character so it does appear confusing because PGY has confirmed ahead of SYJ which makes us believe she is the lead...which she is not. Hope this clarifies the situation.
