A story of King Hyeonjong (Kim Dong-Jun) of Goryeo and Commander-in-Chief Gang Gam-Chan (Choi Soo-Jong). They unite the people of Goryeo to one and lead a war against Khitan.

Notes

Ep.25 & 26, will skip the weekend of February 10th & 11th, due to the Lunar New Year holiday, and instead air on the weekend of February 17th & 18th.

twimomako Dec 23 2025 11:27 pm Despite being a war drama, I appreciate that it was not made gory. That said, I enjoyed it so much and I can watch it over and over. It didn't surprise me this: Best Couple Award (Kim Dong-Jun & Choi Soo-Jong). Can see in their eyes the respent for each other.

And watching this makes me want to rewatch the iron empress ,since lots of historial characters appear in that too

W. Lawrence ESQ Feb 20 2024 8:39 pm I am a retired teacher/soldier, and I loved every episode about Korean history. I served in Korea for 4 years, @ 2 years in the JSA at Panmunjom. My 2 favorite actors were Choi Soo-Jong and Ji Seung-Hyun, who demonstrated the true meaning of services. Great series, no other Asian country can beat the Korean series. Great plot. Well done................

joseph Dec 07 2023 1:26 am Korea-Khitan War is more of an drama based on official history, whereas Empress Cheonchu and Empress Ki are exaggerated and fantasized dramas that have neither reality nor historical facts. Not all dramas are based on on real peopel, but some, like the two mentioned, are non-sense and misleading.

@Renea King, this is based on real event. Most of the character roster shows real historical figures that was important during this event.

Nonetheless, I am going to enjoy 2023 modern cinematic Korean historical drama. We don't see Goryeo historical drama often. They need to venture out of boring and weak Joseon settings.

Siavash Jul 22 2023 3:37 pm Main events:Kim chi yang's rebellion-Gang jo's coup and Mokjong's death-Yang kyu's battles-Gang jo's battles and death-and the most important one to be seen: The Great Victory of Guijo achieved by Gang Gam Chan at the third war between koryo and Liao (Khitan). Chae shi ra and lee deok hwa were very good as cheonchu taehu and Gang gam chan. Let's see how the actors of this drama will be.
