Han Ji-Hyuk (Namkoong Min) was the best agent at the National Intelligence Service (NIS). He was admired by his peers, but he put the NIS in a crisis. He then went missing.

1 year later, Han Ji-Hyuk returns to the NIS to find the traitor that caused him to fall into the bottomless pit.

Amjaba Dec 05 2024 1:59 am Great action drama. I would have loved one more episode. It’s finished so fast. But whoa those last 3 episodes are worth the wait. The drama leads us down so many rabbit holes. The way it comes together in the end does justice to the ML and FL characters.

Park Min Aug 01 2023 9:59 am It's really disappointing to see a drama with a good and enjoyable start just to wither away later on, that includes everything even the cast. As if every single person that was involved in making the drama got tired of the project. Although the earlier parts were enjoyable but I was rolling my eyes every single time Je Yi & Soo Yeon show up on the screen and broke the momentum. They were both easily the worst part of the drama in general. As expected, by the time we got to see the real culprit, it turned out to be a caroonish joker knock off with zero effort put into writing him. To state the obvious, Namkoong was doing an unbelievable amount of heavy lifting to keep this drama afloat. The OST was decent at the right time, while other times it was just some background noise. It's still a decent watch and the slightly shorter runtime was helpful but temper your expectations a bit.

Actually came here because episode 10 of One Dollar Lawyer is not yet out, and search for other NKM dramas and found this. Oh and Park Jin Woo and Kim Ji Eun worked together here and reunited in One Dollar Lawyer? Wow!

NEVER regret watching Namkoong’s drama. He always let me enjoy watching the whole series without feeling boring. Don’t wait, and please watch this show if you love mystery and action. It is full of exciting and joy

Very charming and yet excelled in acting!Just finished watching A good manager thru netflix. Very good story about a big private company. The Politics, conspiracy and corruption among the top officials and how Manager Kim helped the company unfolds the story. Back then he worked in not so popular town. Transferring to a big company , the injustice to majority and see the how the real world works, made him a better person! He's a true hero.❤

nobi Apr 23 2022 8:34 am If you love thriller action packed dramas, this is for you. I have never seen such detailed action scenes in kdramas until now. It was too the point where it got too gory and bloody for me. And the psychological battle and mind games blew my mind every episode. I'm the kind of person that picks up on the smallest details and scene but the story was unpredictable as the characters have different perspectives on the events that lead up to where they are now. I am amazed of how well executed the plotline was and how amazing the characters were. Its no wonder they won the best script. And Nam Goong Min never disappoints. I dont know if he uses method acting but its as if he is the character himself and not just acting. Kim Ji Eun is also amazing. I've seen her profile and she has been leading minor roles but she's the perfect main lead actress for this particular role. She grew up so well in this drama. Her rookie mindset involved into this mature and intelligent person who could handle even the most complex character that is Ji Hyuk. They are the perfect partners indeed. She deserves the new actress award. Kudos to all the actors and actresses as well. I was hooked until the end that I ended up binging all episodes in one sitting. It didnt feel like it was only 12 episodes because the storyline was rich and never a dull moment. Truly one of Nam Goong Min's masterpieces.

Was there an explanation given in the episode? Was it not clear from the English subtitles but spelled out in the Korean dialog, or did I just miss it? [A] had been secretly romantically involved with another character, [B], who was murdered, and [B]'s name was mentioned during the prison visit, but it wasn't clear whether [A] was in prison because of that murder, or was just being stoic in accepting punishment for a different crime, because [A] had failed to protect [B]. If that's the case, what crime was [A] convicted of?

Buuuut.. 12 episodes are just too short. Like, you already spent so much money. They could just extend it to 16 episodes, So they didn't have to cut so many lines / scenes. I felt like i was rushing from one ep. to another ep. Nam-Goong Min put a lot of effort to built the body T.T I believe they had so many wasted scene/footage.. Now, they just gonna throw them away

Cool Nov 25 2021 5:31 am Park hasun wig was very bad. Her entire look and character was ruined by that wig to tbe point that i was happy her charactdr got finished early on. Her whole face was covered by hair. Also her dialogues were all same and repititive. In a multimillion dollar production they should have spent some money on her wig.

I think the story about Seo could have been developed better. I don't understand the relationship between her and Chang Chun Woo for example. Overall I think it's a 6/10 for me.

I'm yet to finish this series, so far I'm so invested and very much interested! Action scenes though so far not that much, are awesome!

Beware: This is not for faint hearted people, the action scenes and how he easily kills people (though bad guys) are quite brutal. He's really such a great actor...

Something weird though, why do I find his walk kinda strange/weird, it doesn't look like a normal walk to me...

I will re-watch Awaken after I finish this cause I know I'll miss NKM

She died really early and I ddnt feel like she brought anything to the story. After she died the drama ddnt feel like it is was missing anything.. She was more of a side character than the main character.

I like namgoong but hes always choosing characters where hes the weird guy or has zero personality. In this drama he looked more like a robot. No human emotions at all. It would be nice to see him in a drama where for an example he has a love interest even if its not romance drama but something that makes him look like a human being. In awaken it was still the same thing, the weird guy that nobody gets.

I am not sure if the show can be compared to Stranger, as both drama were gripping and kept me in suspence, but one thing is certain - Korea rocks! Love it.

Imran Oct 25 2021 4:35 am One of the drama i watch while it was ongoing. My honest review, the plot is great, it’s interesting to watch all the mystery unveiled, with all the unexpected answers. I keep guessing wrong about most of the things hahaha. Overall it is an excellent drama, highly recommended. I just would wish for more action scenes to be added, that’s what kinda lacking for me because I wasn’t really much satisfied with the amount of action here, it put much focus on solving the mysteries. But still the action scenes were all excellent, nam kong min is truly a very talented actor.

The actors/actress were great and hope Nam Goong Min wins the Grand Prize again for this, one of the few great actors.

aerin Oct 24 2021 11:07 am Wonderful acting by all the casts....especially Nam Goong Min. The story was good. All the action scenes were exciting to watch. Yoo Jae Yi character was also nice. Good to watch the partner bonding between jihyuk and jaeyi. There are some minor flaws...but as a whole the drama was really good. With only 12 episodes, the story was made short and simple without adding unnecessary things. Thank you for giving a wonderful drama. Nam Goong Min....definetely will get daesang this year. No any doubts!

A bit complicated at the beginning of story but it builds up as the story continues in the later espisodes. Great acting by NGM and the rest of the veteran stars. You need time and concentration to watch and listen through the conversations to understand this exciting drama. Highly recommended to watch.

There will be a 2 epi spin-off of her story, after The Veil ended. The actress has confirmed she has finished filming scenes for the actual drama before the airing started and finished filming for the spin-off last month. It is unlikely she isn't dead, although I wish they will pull off some Penthouse here lol. Weird arrangement, why put her as the main female lead then.

I agree this drama started with bang but the last few epi were so meh. Then the controversies behind the female lead's sudden death made it worse.

With regards to Park Ha-Sun, I don’t think she’s dead. Her superior probably put her somewhere to recuperate and she would be back in the coming episodes.

I hope One The Woman (the rival) keeps getting higher rating as my petty revenge for my girl Park Ha sun who was treated unfairly by this drama. Can't believe she even promoted this drama and appeared in some tv show to promote it - only to be killed off halfway of the drama!

No wonder the production didn't get to cast a big actress for the main role despite of it is being a blockbuster drama. Who wanted to be credited as the main role only to get killed off in epi 6 ?!

Gladly dropped The Veil - let's be honest the drama itself is not as amazing as what we expected. Namgoong Min has put a lot of efforts, so most credits due to him but it doesn't mean this drama is the best, It only stands out because MBC has not many drama this year, well obviously most budget being allocated to this drama but the rating hasn't even gotten two digits yet. Last year's Kairos was far better - for MBC thriller drama.

But I will see the spin-off, just to see Ha sun and what are the so-called secrets, hopefully something grand and worth her to be killed.

Let's Namgoong Min and Park Ha sun reunite in some good drama, their chemistry was wasted. Just like in Awaken, Namgoong Min again has to promote younger and less talented actress!

and i'm dying to know who seemingly NIS person helping jihyuk is. the one who sent jihyuk code with light, whose calls led him to the usb containing a clue about chang chunwoo, who tipped jeyi off about the deep fake project, and maybe even the one who helped that agent's son messing with NIS computer system

He deserves to win the Daesang Award. Hopefully, his talent will be recognized and the series, drama or movie he stars in can be shown on larger platforms like Netflix. Every role given to him matters to him. He gives justice to the way he portrays his character.

The high authority in NIS are amazing actors. It's so rare to see them all together like this so I'm going to enjoy it. However, Kim Jieun looks too cute for the role of Yoo JaeYi character, doesn't she? She, like Kim Soeun or Shin Sekyung, fits innocent character better I think.

I called it, he is going to win the Daesang award for this year. This is also a big budget drama, I heard that the average cost per ep. is around $1.1 million. Whoa, big respect to the writer/director for this complex drama with little to no dull moment at all, and thank you for casting NGM, we love that!!

aeshin Sep 27 2021 4:22 am Probably one of the best drama I’ve ever watched! I always into a story about life of an agent NIS. Some of the good ones were Athena G.O.W and My Secret Terrius. I LOVE those two so much! I definitely also add The Veil to my collections. The story is well written and got good twists. Might be a bit confusing at first, but you’ll understand later. The drama also feels like a movie, I dont know why haha. Nam Goong Min is such a versatile actor. He bulk up to suit the character better. Ngl, I always see his Baek Seung Soo’ vibes everytime he speaks Hahaha I just love it!!

"Don't trust anyone"- i keep repeating those words in my head. So far Yoo Jae Yi, Kyung Seok (his dying comrade) and the Executives are suspicious. I don't know why I didn't suspect Soo Yeon until now. I feel like she's just pretending to be tough and (act like an) evil so she can find out and investigate what really happened a year ago, just like Ji Hyuk. And also, Baek Mo Sa looks like Jae Yi's father??‍♀️. I could be wrong?

But then just who the traitor that tell their location. Honestly, kyung seok will never betray his team cause he had soo yeon and he get killed brutally. It doesn't make sense if him betraying team. For dong wook Idk but seem he get killed He's not the traitor but can be he's traitor because someone want to get rid of the evidences he hold. That could be a turning point but I don't think them being traitor. I think it's someone inside NIS higher up. Like In Hwan, Young Tae, Young Chan could be the one who leak the info or even be the mastermind. Jin Sook is somehow want more power but not a type of person who will work with those mafia or drug dealers. Pil ho I want to trust him tho,untill this way he protecting Jihyuk but somehow he keep telling Jihyuk but somehow he keep telling not to investigate this deeply make me sus about him, why he really want to stop Jihyuk? 1. He just want to protect Jihyuk cause he knew something were sus and might get Jihyuk killed or maybe he even knew who the traitor but keep silent for Jihyuk sake.2. He is the traitor and he using Jihyuk showing him how Jihyuk can trust him, make Jihyuk believe him and then Jihyuk tell those info on what he's doing like their conversation in ep 3. But he's not alone and he's just a tool for the mastermind. I hope he's a good guy tho. Soo Yeon I still don't like her at all ugh you know how she like. And Ye Ji well she's okay, but Im really curious what happen with her dad. Does it's related to the case? First time seeing that face hmmm. The action is so 5 star chef kiss lol.

From the plot untill the epic car fighting scenes and other scene, so delicious to watch it. Well I have consider in watching this drama in the first place of my to-watch because of Namgung Min but the unexpected thing is that this drama captured me in the plot, all the character, the question about jihyuk memories and all the mystery hidden in the agency. I wish for more Jieun scene cause ... Why not she's okay so far, and Im curious too on why she suddenly want to be partner with Jihyuk. I personally don't like romance drama so much so I hope this drama will keep it like this and just having JiHyuk and JeYi a sunbae dongsaeng relationship. The situation is cool right now. The character to tell you guys are soooo good. JiHyuk's character obviously beyond my expectations and moreover he's not a person who show his emotion easily, so all the rumor/harsh words about him not care about his partner or his teammates, I think that's not true at all. Why? Gosh he's crying while rethinking about his partner who died and, I could say he not disregard. Im dying to know what those mafia want from Jihyuk or could I say what Jihyuk HAVE in his hand and memories that made those mafia chase him . And for Sooyeon I think that woman need some help tho. Personally so far I don't like her. I mean her character, cause she just like blaming all the thing happen at her byfnd is Jihyuk ONLY fault. Imagine one year resenting Jihyuk without herself searching for the truth. I know she lose dear person to him (like yeah she got ring) so I assume things going to marriage maybe with kyung seok but open your eyes gurl, your surrounding is not so decent. Find the answer or help with anything rather than hate, resent him. Yeah to you, Jihyuk is a jerk with his personality and other stuff happening but still. I hope later her character will improve tho. Overall I'm in love with this. Can't wait for next ep!!! And also whyyy this got only got 12 eps. Last but not least, the OST really MATCH. I love it got chills when hearing that.

When madness runs wild, that is the visual, then aurally, the opposite shall be presented for the maximum impact upon the viewers. Sort of ying and yang. The output is aesthetics at its finest. The choice of the ost for the car chase scene in ep 2 is so perfect. An oxymoron between the visual and aural is one recipe for performing arts at its finest. However, it is that difficult to figure out what would be the perfect audio output to accompany the visual. I mean, so difficult many have failed. But the PD nim of "the Veil" passed that with flying color. My utmost respect to you! The ost was so perfect. I didnt know the singer is Korean. Being an ignorant country bumpkin, i thought she was a westerner. My concern now is that i got hope so high on the Veil, i might get disappointed later. Fingers crossed.

Glad this drama get it. Anyway, the demographic composition of Korea is tilted to the older population side already. Maybe about 3/4 of the population is above 28 years old. It paid off to cater this biggest lot. Fresh young looking faces are not expected in story theme like this drama. Sorry millenials. Your lot are over rated. Go to school theme for cuteness. NKM is so immerse in this. A field officer surely got that no frills aura. I dunno about his minion, KJE. She walks a very thin line. Might end up at the wrong path. I sincerely hope she will survive her role. The rest of the team would surely be great. Regarding the story line, Korea, no doubt, got thousands of stories related to national security matters. Not an envied position, but, hey, being positive about that, at least you got a huge base of story-telling sources from those who are in security matters. Btw, is bangs hair style has run its course? NKM hair style is great. But really, ajussi group are a bit too much with bangs hair style. Especialy national security people. Glad this drama might change the tide. Looking forward to ep 2. Could they change the dubbing sound of cars? It always sounds like a 1964 diesel engine GP vehicle regardless the awesome latest model look.

So stoked for him to be in another role not too long after Awaken!
