Nyan Jun 21 2022 3:29 am @La I wasn't going to watch this because I thought the original series was enough but this sequel was definitely needed to hear the side of Suyeon's story since she was originally the lead actress in The Veil. I'm glad I watched this because it explained the relationship between Suyeon and Chunwoo and their favors they owe each other. I didn't understand that in the original series because it wasn't explained.

I agree with some comments below that Suyeon's acting was better here. Didn't like her attitude in the original series. She was edgy for no reason. She had more character here and her chemistry with Chunwoo was interesting at some point.

AztecReviewer Dec 02 2021 9:38 pm This is what happens when you rush in order to give a spin-off series to one of the least likeable characters in the original show. I had to force myself to watch the entire show just so I could give a complete review (and so no one says I didn't watch it in its entirety).

Let's get the good out of the way.

The action sequences. Park Ha-Sun really does well in the scenes. Namkoong Min is definitely the best. It's not just the fact that he has the physicality for the role (check out his training), but it's also because of his acting. His character has a rage simmering just underneath the surface. Combine his physical prowess and his acting, he brings a raw brutality to the action sequences which makes them that much more intense. Regardless, Park Ha-Sun does a fantastic job and I enjoyed watching her.

All the characters are fairly well-written. Nothing special, I tell you. But you don't need complex storylines for an action series. You don't want to debate the meaning of the universe or understand quantum mechanics. You just need a simple storyline you can follow while enjoying the action, drama, and twists.

But that's where all the good ends.

Park Ha-Sun's character, Seo Soo-Yeon, is easily one of the least interesting and more annoying character in the original The Veil. Apparently, writers think that strong female character means that they should become antagonistic towards the MC, keep blaming him (or verbally abusing him), and that's okay. It's not. It's poor writing and it is a lesson in creating insufferable characters. I hoped that this show might reveal more about her. While you do end up gaining a fair bit of sympathy for her, it isn't enough to justify her actions against Namkoong Min's character.

Park Ha-Sun's acting is not great. Her acting varies between "not bad" to "cringe" levels. This is especially noticeable when she tries to act tough. She isn't a bad actress, but her acting in this show is just poor.

You can see that the writers wanted to give the female character her own show. Now this is not bad in and of itself, but when you force it to happen, you'll see the results. This show was a mess. They forced situations to happen just so Park Ha-Sun can have something to do. The show is one episode that progresses, followed by numerous filler episodes, and then another episode that progresses.

In the end, there is a good reason why this show is ranked lower than the main show. Apparently, since the MC is a female, she is beyond criticism or this show cannot be called out for the poor spin-off cash grab that it is. But the truth is, you are better of watching the main show.

This series is a borefest. It's obvious the main show is the superior one.

ha Nov 01 2021 8:46 am im sorry but no one is gonna talk about the chemistry park hasun and jung moon sung had?? i mean the storyline is not related to romance but we can see how much chemistry they had when they are tgt?? the spin off was good bcs i was wondering why chang chun woo was shaking when han ji hyuk asked about suyeon in the veil. so now it is revealed. i literally thought they were couple before lol but im sure their eyes tell everything.

But I can't wait for Chang Chun Woo. His so mysterious and dark in The Veil. Still can't get over that he is Dr Do Jae Hak from Hospital Playlist?

Kite Oct 23 2021 3:53 am Honestly, Do Jin Sook is one of the most interesting character in the series and also pretty mysterious. I would have preferred her to lead a spin-off if there ever was one. She seems to present herself as a righteous person, but there are always questions regarding her motives. I would love to see her story, to see things from her point of view, even if she's not the "good guy" in it.
