My wife and I just finished watching the twentieth and final episode of “Our Blues,” which was extremely impressive from many points of view (writing, settings, cinematography, multiple plots, working-class setting, and, finally, acting).

Your role, in particular, as Ok-dong Kang, was magnificent, as you simultaneously portrayed the very sympathetic, cancerous diver, who, mysteriously, seems to never have cared for her son.

The emotional directness and relatively simple life settings in which you and your co-actors worked only intensified the impact of the struggle for recognition and rectification between your character and the character of your son.

I would suspect that there will be increasing world recognition of the depth and power of your and your fellow actors’ work in this series.

Jim Jul 09 2016 8:57 am I knew a Kim Hye Ja back in 1964-65, in Seoul, a recent grad of Ewha (as I recall). She'd be about the same age now as the movie star and humanitarian Kim Hye Ja. There are undoubtedly many, many Kim Hye Jas in Seoul, but the age and the school narrows it down a bit. She played piano or organ for church services on a US military base, as I mentioned in an earlier comment.

I have been unable to totally rule out the slim possibility that the Kim Hye Ja I've seen in movies is the one I knew way back then. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Mary Apr 25 2016 6:19 pm Why am I here? I came here from watching Ms. Kim Hye-Ja wonderful portrayal of Great Queen mother, in "Goong" (Princess Hours). I was really taken by her calm and unwavering countance through out. And I'm very surprised she didn't get an award for it. She kept the drama glued together. Don't miss seeing her in this.

But not in the theater world is she a "Great", her charity work in countries in Africa is amazing and worthy of so much praise. Thanks you for all you do.
