Tzveeble May 18 2022 10:24 am It's easy to view those Korean comedies simply as light entertainment, but that is never the case. To take this drama for instance, there are so many underlying profound pieces of wisdom embedded in all the details of the story, like the insemination of youthful energetic but inexperienced minds with the qualities of maturity. The philosophical depths of K-dramas is inspiring and stunning in many aspects.

The way it opened with her being SO MEAN to her daughter in law but SUPER NICE and thoughtful only to her son and grandson is really annoying and never addressed. Why people think its ok to be MEAN to daughter in law but expect their own family to be treated kindly, I can never understand.

I also cried when her son told her to go away and live her life but she said even if she had another chance she would still have him. I have always wanted to meet my parents in their youth to get to know their true personalities but it’s impossible lol

Kitty Jul 26 2020 6:08 am This movie was hilarious. It’s a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is easy and light to watch. I absolutely loved the scene where doo-ri was talking about her breast milk to the woman on the subway! That was comedy gold.

Alexey Apr 17 2020 9:51 pm I've watched couple of Korean movies that was pretty boring, but this one just amazed me! Story was so touching, characters are great, plot is interesting. Hillarious humour! Ending was pretty sad, although with Mr. Park getting young (didn't expect Kim Soo-Hyun there :D) gave me hope that their amazing adventures aren't over. Just amazing movie... Deserves all the good!!!!

b Apr 06 2019 2:08 am Miss Granny is amazing but I have a couple of general questions.

Is it normal to address someone as their kid's names mother, for example: hi Ji-Ha's mom. Even adults addressing each other get translated this way even when the kids aren't around.

Is it normal to explain to someone that you've been too nice to them while you attack them? I first noticed this when Miss Granny was telling Ji-Ha about the good air conditioning, but I have since noticed it in a bunch of other movies. (It also seems common to ask someone if they want to die if you want to hit them but you are not going to)

Is it normal in Korea for people to talk to themselves? I notice this when people are alone or when they want to criticize someone that they are with but they can simply say that they are talking to themselves if they get called out. Every character in every show talks to themselves at least once.

This is a perfect family movie, with very light hearted humor but an underlying story that really makes one think. I absolutely loved the characters and found the plot unbelievably hilarious, especially that very last part;)

To avoid spoiling, definitely worth watching. It's a unique family movie that I (17) and my parents (55) all enjoyed. You won't regret this watching this masterpiece.

Cry level was an 8, when Granny's grandson was injured in a vehicular accident, and was in the hospital. But this movie has a happy ending, and the handsome Kim Soo-Hyun made a cameo at the very end, that made me laugh loudly.

I didnt watch it from the start but it hooked me because the movie is so funny, shim eun kyung's act is really believable (i thought she's park bo young at first, with her big adorable eyes and cute lips), ahem, anyway, the songs are great, the (almost) ending where her grandkid rushed to the concert up to donating blood is so cliche but the dialog among she and her son is so sad.. I thought they gonna end it right there but a bit surprise on the end with cameo of the guy who rides the motor lol..

So, it's a enjoyable movie with some of catchy songs.. Shim eun kyung deserves an award for her role, curious about her other movies..

Fascinating plot to keep you interested and guessing along the way. Best imaginative ending ever! What more can I say? It's now on my Favorites list. Really didn't expect anything from this movie (couldn't find anything to watch on Netflix to fall asleep with - I didn't fall a sleep watching this) but what a touching and funny movie. It made me cry AND laugh! Rare thing in these days. The Grandma made me cry; the actress who played the part has always been a great at any part she has played in last 30-40 years, so that was no surprise but still the look on her face when she was looking at Seung Woo (PD) from far after she returns to her old age was pure gold. It made me want to go back to my younger days. But the young actress who played the Granny as young lady really shines. She is very different from most Korean actresses who are all similar in looks and behavior. She is not afraid of looking silly and not always made up. She made me laugh but also cry, specially when she was talking to her son who told her to go and live her life without sacrificing herself for her son.

Great find - very nice. Check it out especially if you are at an age where the end is closer than the beginning.

Especially when the song Oh Doo Ri sang at the cafe repeats again at the end... my emotions bursted out. Am I only one feeling melancholy after watching this film? I loved this film. I wanted to see how Shim Eun Kyung acts because I know she will be in Cantabille Tomorrow. I must say I am very very very impressed. Can't wait to watch the drama now!!!

One tackle on our superficial society and another is about the aging population. Both movies are hilarious and fun to watch, but at the same time delivers an important message to the audience. Love it! :)

daebak9 Jun 02 2014 10:15 pm I saw this at the CGV theater in LA (only Korean movie theater in California i think) by chance when my friend and I were walking around Koreatown. It was great seeing a Korean movie in a movie theater instead of just my computer screen. I t made me laugh and it made me cry and squeal(along with 1/2 the moviegoers) when Kim Soo Hyun showed up on screen. If anyone lives in Southern California you should definitely visit CGV theater.

Miss S Mar 09 2014 3:44 am I just came back from watching the movie, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I laughed most of the time, but there were some poignant, touching scenes as well. There were themes of family, old age, and modern culture running through the film, but it was hilarious. The main female cast was brilliant - Na Moon Hee as the foul-mouthed grandma and Shim Eun Kyung as her 20 year-old self. SO GOOD. You will laugh, and you might cry too.

P.S. Shim Eun Kyung has an excellent singing voice!
