30-year-old Akira Shinkai (Yui Aragaki) always smiles and she is perfect at work. She cares about those around her too much. 33-year-old Kosei Nemoto (Ryuhei Matsuda) works as an accountant. He is friendly and popular among women. Nevertheless, he dos not trust anyone and he does not fall in love easily. Akira Shinkai and Kosei Nemoto meet at a bar and become attracted to each other.

Aloki May 24 2022 8:38 am Probably the first j drama i have difficulty watching that I don't even know if I should stop or continue.

Shuri is too annoying. She does nothing for 5 years but playing games, eating and sleeping as a freeloader and yet envies someone who work her butts off under a toxic boss and colleagues who make use of her to the point that she almost committed suicide at the train station several times but did not. She endured and survived while Shuri is wallowing in self pity.

wayer May 04 2022 3:49 am It's 2022 and I am still addicted to this drama. It's been on my playlist ever since 2018. And I think I'm gonna grow old with Kemono. I love how realistic the approach on each human characters.

But Shuri has been making it very hard for me to fully enjoy the show because she’s literally the epitome of ungrateful and annoying. I 100% agree with the user who commented before me (Ramen) when they stated that Shuri is such a freeloader who takes everyone’s kindness for granted. I couldn’t care less about her “pitiful” backstory because she’d be more happy if she actually tried harder to get a job in the past 4 Years that she’d been living in Kyoyo’s apartment for free which he has now Given to her. She’s so ungrateful that it’s infuriating. And istg if she ends up Kyoyo, I will kill somebody because that’s the absolute last person he deserves. Wish she’d get off the show already lmao.

How I loooove the main characters' natural interaction, their cute yet meaninful dialogues, and all the morale values this drama delivered... Oh... I want more yet I know it's all perfect.

I wasn't a fan of Gakky but I see she improves a lot and acts reallly good here, and I know Ryuhei's acting skill charm and his small changes in expressions are simply gorgeous. Kikuchi Rinko is always my fav, and she nailed it here as always! Felt very fresh seeing her character here. All in all, I'm very thankful Netflix starts bringing in more quality Jdrama!!

Riza Yuliawati Apr 07 2021 12:40 pm This drama is the best. It may seem boring, but it really portrait our reality. Annoying boss, useless co-workers, losing ourself to please partner, and difficulties to be honest on what we feel.

I don't know why but this drama reminds me of the before trilogy movies.

I think I've watch for hundreds times. My obsession to this drama is unhealthy. :D

FeKimi Dec 03 2018 1:00 am Hi @hotarumaruchii, So glad we can discuss KemoNare here. Agree with you that Ryuhei's acting is more into the depth of his tone with very subtle facial expression. His acting when confronting his brother was amazing. Proof that an actor doesn't have to use high tone or cringing eyebrows to show anger or high emotion (I look into you, some young actors). And, of course there was that famous crying scene, only with a little gesture and he delivered that bomb of emotions. About the romance, I think we can only hope... hahaha... because, I think it's already clear KemoNare is more like character driven human drama than romance. Although there is, I don't expect it will have the same amount of romance like in Korean drama. Hehehe... Anyway, this dorama is getting more exciting and I cannot wait!

Hi @wayer, Too bad you have to watch it raw :( (I watch on S-Gem cable network). I also expect Gakki's fan base (I have to admit she has more fan base than Ryuhei's) will pick up this dorama to be subbed, so I can rewatch it again and again ^^. What is due at the end of November is Kosei's deed to do something illegal which at the first time he had to do it to save his brother. But, now, he has to do it again and for that he received such amount of money. That bomb is a metaphor for something he has to drastically do to avoid such illegal thing.

I google translate it into bomb??) And that lots of money that Kosei had. I am clueless about that too.. but had a gist about it being related to a family member? I wish a fansub team picks up this drama (-,-)

hotarumaruchii Nov 28 2018 10:01 pm Hi! @FeKimi thank you for your comment & thoughts about Ryuhei Matsuda, I appreciate it ^^ last night's episode was one of my favorite ep in a while because finally! they scope it to Kosei's storyline & honestly I found the answer to my own question. There's something about Ryuhei Matsuda's acting it's like a Practical Aesthetics (where analytical approach emphasizes the simple pursuit of an action; Actors’ attention goes to text-analysis, script work, and a literal understanding of a scene’s driving events.) the way he delivered his lines, there's tone, expression & depth though it can't be seen visually as most actors do in their actions & viewers who aren't used to it might find it bland but you can feel his dialogues because of Ryuhei's voice tone quality. The episode last night really picked me again for this drama to continue & next week's episode seems to get interesting since we only have 3 eps left before this drama ends tbh I don't know if Akira & Kosei will end up together because there are setbacks & though there are hints of attraction but it's not fully stretch out but I'm still hoping though ^^;

I am FeKimi and I'm a big fan of Ryuhei Matsuda since his early career on Blue Spring. So, maybe I'm a little bit bias in explaining that Matsuda's acting as Kousei the sharp tongue for me is a spot on. He can actually show the cynic side of Kousei by his flat face and this character is on the track until the ending of episode 5. The way he looks Akira after he said it's the first time he did it sober had made me melted. Hahaha... sorry... a little bit bias here. I like him as an actor, though. He gives a soul to the character he plays (see him as Gyouten in Mahoro, he can nail a very weird character without giving too much comical expression). I also hope there will be more interesting development since episode 5 was the best episode so far. Even Akira's humming became trending in Japan and there's a discussion what is the humming about.

hotarumaruchii Nov 07 2018 10:12 pm hello! friends; update: I'm still watching this despite the big turned down of ratings last week but yesterday's episode actually caught the ratings again on track. There are times that I think some content & pacing are slow & dull, the characters conflict somehow a bit force to impose & the monotone of events really wears you off; I haven't watched a lot of films/shows from Ryuhei Matsuda but is he usually like that? awkward, blunt, not too expressive? or is he just really good in acting awkward for his character since his character is supposed to be like that but his awkward vibe has that attraction, I'm not asking in a rude way I actually root his character Kosei to end up with Gakky's character Akira, yes the unlikeable pair ^^yesterday's episode trended in Japan that I guess it reflects to the ratings that put them back on track again, I hope after yesterday's episode, the story will catch up with interesting developments between the leads & supporting characters. I don't know how many episodes this drama is but mehn this will take you patience to see the turning point of events lol

No story and whenever Matsuda Ryuhei is on it's like looking at a black hole, no talent, no charisma, no talent just a monotone performance. I love to watch Aragaki Yui but in this series I can't bear to watch.

FeKimi Oct 24 2018 7:49 pm I am so hooked with this dorama right now!! So hooked until every Wednesday I stalk the screen capture and teaser on IG and Twitter. The 2 main leads have an awkward-romance chemistry since they visit the bell. So far, I like how they develop the character and romance slowly, I love the pace and even the supporting casts have their own lovable characteristic. And, until now, I like how the story's flow is unpredictable (well, of course, I know the main leads will be together eventually, but how to go there is something worth waiting for)

Moreover, this is a reunion drama for Matsuda-san, Kikuchi-san and Gakki-chan since Koisuru Madori (even Matsuda-san posted it on his IG), so excited!

I guess there will be some who won't be hook on the first ep because the story still in the process of revealing things, they take things slowly, especially in ryuhei's character because of that ep.3 teaser might probably others too. The story seems more focus on the lives of Akira & Kosei with their work, how they handle their stresses, love and personal life where they go to this bar drinking away their problems/stresses connects them somehow. In terms of romance, I'm still in that neutral state where I enjoy both the main & second leads moments. Yui Aragaki & Kei Tanaka's have that lovely office romance chemistry since in the story they are lovers here while Yui Aragaki & Ryuhei Matsuda though for me, they look awkward but I'm loving bits of it lol but despite it, there's this depth in their chemistry. I'm at awe with their scene where they both look for this place & the camera angles & cinematography while sharing conversations really tell how they gonna end up falling in love with each other lol (IF! things won't change in the last minute lol)

to be honest I can't wait how the story goes on because there are so many things that can happen and there are so many potentials for each character, not just the main leads but also the supporting characters.

I hope someone will pick this drama up and translate ^^
