No Ae-Jung (Song Ji-Hyo) is a single mother and works as a producer for a movie company. She has not had a boyfriend in the past 14 years, but 4 men appear in front of her. Oh Dae-O (Son Ho-Jun) is a mysterious best-selling novel writer. Ryu Jin (Song Jong-Ho) is a popular actor. Koo Pa-Do (Kim Min-Jun) was once a gangster, but he is now the CEO of Nine Capital financial company. Oh Yeon-Woo (Koo Ja-Sung) is a PE teacher at a school.

Jaine Oct 11 2022 9:29 am My favorite character of all was the bar tender. That is why I attempted to watch this a second time and then left it for the same reasons. I wanted to find the writer and see what else he wrote but he isn't in link here. Why did he had such a selfish combative female lead. I just couldn't warm up to her. I agree with the June 3 comment :"Honestly, she’s super selfish that’s all I could read from her." I like what couchpotato said: "selfless love of the female lead’s mother and the dilemma of her teenage daughter who resents her yet simultaneously adores her" and I agree, and I do love that actress who played the mom. I can see why Avi was sympathetic to the female lead for having to struggle so much but I wish the writer had brought some pysch dynamic in for a growth arc...and as Avi said: " I just wished that Hanee would have a scene in the end where she called Dae-o her "dad". (That is the reason I gave up on the show. The resolution would have been nice, so I figure the writer didn't know any better.) I was adopted and so I too wondered about my father so I expected more if that was the supposed theme...basically was the girl's conception love or not. Or was it like mine, two people and a bottle of distilled sugar...uff!!).

I judge oh dae oh from the start but I now see that he's not to be blamed Noh Ae jong misunderstood she supposed to confront him and tell him about what she saw. I must say oh dae oh is wrong in keeping things going on with him away from his gf fine he didn't want her to be hurt but she hurts more cos what he passed through made him to be cold which made Aejong to think that d relationship is crumbling. ANYWAYS thanks 4 d movie and the ost omg can't do without listening to it especially 'dreams'. Great drama I recommend it it's so funny ????

Withjoyfulsenescence Jun 04 2022 10:27 am Rewatching this again in Netflix after watching during the original airing and I think I appreciate it even more while rewatching it. I found it funnier, I even laughed out loud at the scenes. I am a sucker for romcoms so I was sad that it didn't have many "romantic" scenes when I watched it the first time. But knowing that while rewatching, I liked the story even more and got to explore the sides of the people in the story. I understood their feelings from their point of view -- as a misunderstood or abandoned person for 14 years. Such great actors, the 5 main leads, and supporting characters as well like the mom, imoo, and hanee. So while this received low ratings during its broadcast, I surely know I will rewatch this again in the future. Thank you for this wonderful story.

Was it Love? Jun 03 2022 11:04 am It’s a great drama overall. At some point Ryu Jin and Oh Yeon-Woo were annoying, especially cause they made Oh Dae-O feel like he was a terrible human but who’s to blame in all these? Definitely No Ae-Jung. I understand her misunderstanding considering Oh Dae-O didn’t know how to communicate his problems 14 years ago and she saw a wrong image of him with Joo A-Rin. But I must say No Ae-Jung is actually very self centred. She literally made everyone hate Oh Dae-O and till the end never corrected that misunderstanding even with their daughter. She had many opportunity to explain the real story and left the daughter wondering till the end. Honestly, she’s super selfish that’s all I could read from her.

Avi Dec 06 2021 1:55 am You don't know how much I love this drama. The casts are perfect, same goes to the storyline. The emotion goes well if you would try to understand all of the characters, they are not perfect but still tries their best.

I don't get why y'all are hating on Ae-jeong, of course she'd feel that way. She's blaming herself all the time, more like victimizing herself all throughout but that's understandable. She was left out in the dark with no explanations, only with her mother by her side. After 14 years, she's still guarding her heart and having trust issues all those years because if not, she's not the only one who will be hurt and be affected greatly but also her daughter. Dae-o's character was a self centered immature man but still a pure hearted and loyal person. This drama made me realize that misunderstanding can cause something big on someone's life and regret it later on. What I love the most in this drama was the college flashbacks, showing how both leads love each other way too much that causes them to break and ruin their own life too. Their sweet and cheesy scenes made me feel something to the point that I can't stop smiling. bakahaido's right, "the 3 men were there, but they were never in the game", it gives the main couple a chance to reconcile and understand their selves and each other then. I just wished that Hanee would have a scene in the end where she called Dae-o her "dad".

Love Kim MinJun's (Koo Pado) character here the most, hoping to see him and Song JiHyo in one frame again soon. Kudos to my comfort and favorite romcom drama. It's the best.

CouchPotato Dec 01 2021 2:06 pm I am a drama addict and have watched many asian dramas be it Korean, Japanese, Taiwan, Chinese etc to be able to separate the weed from the chafe. All I can say is that if you like slice of life and mature content (emotionally not sexually) you will appreciate this drama. It has a similar vibe to an old kdrama “Alone in Love” casting Son Ye Jin. It doesn’t have an interesting story plot, grandeur scenes or typical idol drama troupes (fantasy, aliens, handsome men in uniforms) which I think it was the reason it didn’t sit well with the Korean audiences when it was airing. People who watch dramas on television with friends and family in the living room do not “feel” the characters much and they simply watch the story unfold scene by scene. But this drama is slower paced and requires you to soak in the emotions of the actors and actresses and put yourself in the shoes of all the characters. Soon you will find yourself rooting for their happiness as if you are rooting for your own! Another point is that this drama is not for the narrow minded, emotionally immature or morally self righteous. The characters are flawed in some way or another and did some regrettable things which caused unnecessary misunderstandings. One started of as emotionally immature, vindictive and insensitive person but turns out to be loyal person who loves too much. Another appears outwardly cheerful, positive, hot tempered and hardworking but is inwardly distrustful, self conscious, emotionally repressive and sensitive. Apart from the chemistry and slow burn romance among the leads, there is also the quiet but selfless love of the female lead’s mother and the dilemma of her teenage daughter who resents her yet simultaneously adores her.

Snail Nov 29 2021 6:49 am I'm hesitating to watch this drama at first since the reviews are bad bad. Not gonna lie, the first few episodes hooked me in and I certainly love it. The only flaw of this drama was the ending and the relationship between Dae-O and Ha-nee. Overall the drama is good, 8/10.

Ae Jeong bugged the hell out of me. And in all honesty Oh Dae O needed to man up in the later episodes, and tell her to be honest with him, herself and most importantly Ha Nee.

My fave apart from Ae Jeongs mum, Hyang Ja, was Pa Do.

bakahaido Oct 05 2021 3:27 pm To be honest, I'm a serial quitter of kdrama. Even shows I find interesting, I can't finish especially if I find it predictable. So I can't say this is a bad drama considering it took me 2 days just to finish the whole thing. The show keeps me engaged. SPOILER The main reason would have to be Son Ho Juns performance. I feel for him and his acting is very well-paced. He usually acts casually in the laid back scenes, so when it becomes melodramatic, his emotional acting really stands out. He doesn't act in the way that makes him righteous even though he clearly did not deserve the 14yr absence of his child - you can tell that he too was wrong. Song ji hyo, though. Man I love the actress BUT I really hate the character and her acting. She was just so stubborn and close-minded, and victimizes herself in everything. She suffers and stresses everyone with her tantrums, yet refuses to let anyone in. I know there are people like this, but IRL, she would not be worshipped as the 4 men around her would. Instead she's portrayed as tenacious (vs stubborn), fiery (vs hot-tempered), struggling (vs keeping stuff to her own/jumping into conclusions/doesn't communicate well), independent (vs major trust issues) ... Just a difficult person who the writers want us to believe to be a person to root for. The final thing I'm miffed about is the sole main focus on aejeong and daeoh's relationship. For me, this is a good aspect of the drama. It really is concluded well - and the changes in their complicated relationship is fleshed out properly. I also like that it was clear that there was never a contender for aejeong's love. The 3 men were there, but they were never in the game, giving gravitas to the main couples love and how it can still persist despite all the miscommunication and issues the ML and FL each had. HOWEVER, ML never had the chance to explore his relationship with his daughter, who should be equally important to him. Whattt?? This is a girl who had daddy issues her whole life, shouldn't they properly buildup a relationship between the two of them daeoh and hanee. It seemed like his whole goal for redemption is just to make FL happy, and no need for the daughter. The mom and daughter are equally the main characters for the drama and should have proper relationship development with the ML as a boyfriend and father. Tldr Pretty good drama, just a few jarring flaws due to bad writing towards the end & one bad acting choice.

Until the end of the drama, we still do not know either Hanee already accept her father or not..Not make sense at all..I hope the ending will be the wedding of hanee's parent, not her...And also not make sense her parent and other actor/actress still look young and same just like when she was a teenager during the wedding scene?? I hope when Song jihyo got a new drama again, she will choose a good drama storyline because actually she is a good actress...Its just she get a wrong choice in choosing the drama...Just like her latest drama The witch diner...It was a very good drama and she slay her character as a witch...I really like her character in Twd although only 8 episode..So, I hope there will be season 2 of Twd...I can't wait to see jihyo in another project either drama or movie :) :) :)

La Lune Aug 22 2021 1:22 pm I don't love this drama, but I didn't hate it either. I don't get why most people blamed the lead female so much. I've been in her place, so I can understand her. It did dragged a little, and rushed a little too. But towards the end, everything happened at the perfect timing. At the moment Ha-nee denied her father's love, there were 2 fake fathers whom actually listened to her and enlightened her. Maybe Ae-jeong was impulsive at first, I mean, if I were her I would've face the man and yelled "who's that b*tch I saw you kissed?!" But I think the 4 "knights in armors" and her daughter were more impulsive and frustrated me to the point I almost quit on it. The ending was just good, because I was disappointed to the fact that the real father couldn't hear Ha-nee call him "Dad" even in a playful way until the end. Overall, the drama wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either, I had fun with the roller-coaster of emotions anyway.

Kin Jun 20 2021 1:36 am IDK why some of the review talk bad about the FL. She is not even mean in any way, she just loud and have a strong personality. They be saying she is dragging in making problem probably don't even understand her character. She spend 14 years believing the guy abandoned her and she goes a lot of things for those 14 years, and some of you guys expect her to suddenly be OK after meeting him? She has got a lot of problem already and she already used to depend on herself. She literally got betray by one of the person she trust and some expect her to have no problem?

The storyline is not even a drag. The drama is 'melodramatic' for a reason. If u think this story is dragging, might as well avoid all drama with melodramatic genre.

I do agree the end is a bit rush but I'm OK with it. If this drama is a drag how could I watch it in one day?

About the guy I believe she choose him because she really love him and can't forget him, that's why she said she hate him bc she love him too much its hurt. Mr Oh I believe he at the start have a small crush, but after all those years it because he was thankful of her, and he sees how bad she fall hence his protectiveness. It not even bc he love her.

Mr Koo is just curious of her and have a soft spot bc she look like a woman he knew. He don't love her either.

While Ryu Jin has a major red flag, he obsessive.

Anyway, some of these reviews are very sexist. Blamed woman for having emotion. But didn't said anything when the guys characters act impulsive because of their character.

The main couple have great chemistry, the one who said they don't probably like the type of couple that kiss on the second episode. They are both a matured characters that have responsibilities and regret, they won't jump in relationship just bc they meet the person they once love.

Jaine Mar 09 2021 8:37 pm I am glad I read Kathryn’s review so I can quit watching this. My daughter quit before episode one was over. I tried to hang in to Ep 5 but can’t stand the crabby lead. Her lines make her out to be the meanest grumpy girl I have ever seen in a k drama. I figure there must be a whole community of mean spirited women that make up a genre of drama that I have avoided until this one. Even the bar keep is mean in this when she was brilliant in Hyena. Why those men like the lead is strange. They must like being treated badly. I call it low chakra.

Son Ho Jun fans Feb 19 2021 5:34 am I was disappointed, I just watched ex girlfriend club, and it turns out that the background story of Was It Love is very similar with it . I don't know why Song Ji Hyo accepted this role, this is a bit embarrassing. Even though, I was expecting a lot from this drama because I wanted to support both of them. At least i watched this drama because of Son Ho Jun.

I liked the story and don’t feel like it dragged too much. I’d hate to see some reactions to shows that really drag and show no development lol. I liked the fact that 4 different guys had a crush on the same single mom (nice plot) but then, it started circling forever around the relationship that ended 14 years earlier (and that just wasn't THAT cute or romantic btw) and it got boring in no time. I was enjoying the quest to find my dad, but great young actress playing Ha Nee but then again, her mom has no reaction when she's with of the guys. Makes you wonder if any of them is even the dad. Or if he is, she just hid it for that long... I don't even want to know anymore. I'll probably just spoil myself on the internet and find myself another drama that is less redundant or passive. Cheers!

Jackie Dec 01 2020 12:44 am Some people say "too much drama" and it's dragging. C'mon! There are a lot of comedy scenes too. Most of the drama was shown in 1st ep and about Ep 10, 11, 12. If you look at the whole story, you will understand why it needs to have drama scenes. I thought the show had a good mix of everything and gave the right momentum for the dramatic scenes. I would have even expected more dramatic confrontation scenes. It's stupid to expect to wrap up the story in a few episodes. Not all the eps and storyline revolved about who the father is. Of course they still have to show the background and the connections and interactions of each of the characters. It was not dragging for me and even the way the flashbacks was shown was creative and not boring. There were some scenes that were sort of similar or parallel in the present and past. It is not a perfect show with character flaws and some writing mishaps but it's still pretty good and all the actors did a great job. Superb acting! Production value and music were good too. I'd like it more if there was Ep 17 to wrap up the story of Dae Oh, Ae Jeong, and Ha Nee much better.

Who the hell gonna make a fuss for 14 years memories? It is not one guy who can't move on, but all of them. Too many drama and I'm sorry I have to say this, this drama is boring.

But I like Ha Nee. The way she portray the character is very talented!

Yes, the FL got annoying and some parts of the storyline could have been removed and the ending could have been a lot better. But the drama did show a lot of good and beautiful and touching scenes and the characters portrayed their roles well. Son Ho Jun did great in his scenes! And despite the lack of romance, the chemistry of HoJun and JiHyo did shine. The story also got to capture my attention and made me look forward for the next eps. I'm a pretty patient person so the late reveal did not bother me. I thought the pacing was ok. But seeing the rushed ending, I hope the revelation did come out in the earlier eps.

So far, I have enjoyed many despite being forced to read very fast. But the writer Lee Seung-Jin of Was It...lost complete touch with reality and many of the episodes left me flat. Yes, it is a fiction but the goals and motivation for those goals of the Oh Dae-oh and of the little girl Ha-nee were so far from realistic as to be jarring to watch. Oh-Dae Oh's every waking moment for the past 14 years is spent on love/hate for the woman he thinks abandoned him, Ae-Jung. When they, at last, iron out their differences and get together, despite outside conflicts e.g. :Says Oh Dae-Oh OMG the novel I wrote was a lie.... and everyone hates me and the public is going to come after my huny and my little girl...reality check: Duh, it's a Fiction, a Story, how can what you make up and write on paper be a lie??? Do you think JRR Tolkien went around in angst because someone told him elves did not really live in the forest with talking trees and hobbits?? So, this was one of the first real faux pas by the writer. The young girl Han-nee, spends lots of time and energy putting together clues trying to find her father. But when she figures it out, she tells him: Well, I don't really need a father, but you can be with my mom. Huh?? After more external conflict by bad journalists, is that really realistic?, I'm sure there are lots more important things to talk about in Korea. Oh Dae-oh tells the love of his life and his new found daughter, sorry, I'm leaving you with all this mess to take care of. Then low and behold, he shows up again after two years and says: sorry but, huny I'm home! Personally, I'd deck him. The last scene is the most off putting, it is some years later, we don't know how many, and we are at a wedding, Han-nee's? and mom is walking her down the aisle. Dad is in the back ground cheering: so what has happened in those ensuing years? Are the two together, do they hate or love each other? It makes resolving this on again off again relationship so hard for the viewer to grasp. Again, the actors and the way the scenes flow into different time periods are seamless and well done, but the writer assumes the motivation of the characters is couched in realism, and will make sense to the audience, NOT.

I really love how the drama is written, every character development even tho its extended by 1 episode due to popularity.

I really like character Tan Zi Yi than Noh Ae-jeong. Jihyo portrayed it well both characters. But the line and story of ae-jeong is not well written

Korean Drama Sep 09 2020 9:38 am This drama was good until episode 10, after that the makers have just stretched it. All actors are good. I found the role of the lead actress to be very annoying. She doesn’t have the character to fall in love with. She lies to her daughter even when the daughter keeps saying “father abandoned us”. The mother got so many chances to tell the truth about the misunderstanding but she continued to lie. I am not watching after episode 14. The father had no clue but she make the daughter believe that the father was at fault. You cannot deny a parent to love a child especially when they find out after many years. Overall super annoying role of the lead actress. Her acting is so much at times.

The male had moments I like him, but mostly I didn’t like him. And the female lead persisted in keeping secrets from her mother and daughter long past when she should have told them. Still the episodes were fun to watch , until the last episode which was terrible , I just finished it and am very disappointed. It’s just a huge letdown. Spoiler: Yes the mains and others got together, but it was so forced and abrupt it was very unsatisfying. Also the main guy disappeared for two more years by being “ noble” , such BS. If they were going to have trouble he should have stuck around to support them through it. Anyway, this is how I felt , largely disappointed at the end.

I enjoyed that Dae-o was an egotistical prick at first and opens up to his true feelings, but a better ending should’ve been bitter sweet with them not getting back together and just owning up to their pride. I believe the Gym Teacher would’ve made the best love interest and Jin being a conflicting caring individual, which keep in mind was the entire story from 1-12. It seems like 13-16 we’re re-written and forced upon by a writer who had conflicting ideas...

I feel the writer should make noh ae jong storyline differently by not putting some stupid misunderstanding. I feel like the storytelling trying to portray DO is the problem instead of no ae jong which the real problem maker between hanee and DO. If they wanted to make it no ae jong character justified, they should instead make it like DO know about the baby but he refused to co-parent or DO really have affair with the woman which will make Noh aejong character make more make sense and everyone will support No ae jong for actions for leaving him and hating him. The write is so dumb. They way they portraying and No aeh jong and DO is so wrong and the reason is so ridiculous and the ending is weird. Ep 1 until 12 was good until writer destory the rest of the episode. People who wanted watch, i will not recommend at all. You will love song jihyo character at starting and hate her onward on ep 13.

I was expecting for Noh-Ae-jung, Ha-Nee, and Dae-O's bond as a family to compensate Dae-o's shortcomings 14 years ago. I think the director of this drama wanted us just to imagine the ending by ourselves. I understand that because not all dramas are meant to be detailed. Still, it's a 10/10 for me and this drama deserves more ratings!

P.S. = I believe Dong Chan and Ha-Nee were in the right age to marry (let's say the wedding that took place was decades later). Hence, they decided not to show their faces.

So Korean age is 13? and then 2 years later when Dae Oh comes back she's 16 (technically 15) AND she's getting married? I'm sorry I was like what??? Also I don't understand why all 4 men had to be the one to try walking her down the aisle. It was so confusing

But i don't regret watching this drama. Just because i don't like the ending doesn't mean its a bad story. its still fun to watch since it did make me cry one moment and start laughing the next. Good job to all the actors and actresses!

Kudo's to the actress that played Ha-Nee (the daughter). I thought she was one of the strongest in this series. I'm sure she has a bright future ahead in the industry.

The ending is quite absurd ^_* but It’s satisfying. Very recommended drama for those who want to watch light story, not clingy, heartwarming with 4 eye-candy man and great acting of the cast in particular Ho joon and Um chae young (Ha nee).

The story is good, not too much drama, its a very realistic story. Other kdramas are too much OA which makes it annoying to watch. This is still the best drama who's worth a million times to watch.

The interaction of the main characters is very well-handled, and the touches of comedy give extra pace to the storyline. Of course, the plot development largely depends on a somewhat unrealistic lack of communication between the single mother and her completely puzzled daughter, but that doesn't matter because it enables just about everything else to take place naturally, and provides scope for some excellent acting. The four male leads particularly form a strong and always interesting quartet of motives and personal conflicts. The series is certainly worth watch time.

I tried to put myself in Ae-Jong's shoes, as she grew up without a father figure in her life, she even got pregnant when she wasn't mentally ready to become a mother. I'm sure there's no perfect mother in this world, parenting skills will be learned over time. especially if the closest example she can learn is that her mom is also a single mother.

However, there are positive things we can learn from her story, namely that she is a responsible mother and she raised her child without wanting to burden other people.

please continue to watch till the end and support the drama.

She didn't tell father which was understandable because of misunderstandings eventhough it was not right to do. But not telling to her daughter about father was unacceptable. She made her daughter who thinks she is not wanted and insecure girl. And Ae-Jong, her mother and her daughter seems like they are very close but they don't talk about anything. They slide over every crisis.

Plus they have a pretty good cast, literally all of them were fun to watch. Going to miss them all (sad). Thank you for a very nice, heart warming story!!!

The writer of this drama is the same with the writer of cinderella and the four knights. I think the writer is so good. Its predictable but it is somehow fun to watch. Nice simple plot but kinda bad progression and flow of the story. Also Ryu jin is a definition of a bad and toxic friend. I would give it 7/10 (nice enough but not to the point that it'll be memorable for years to come).

However, i wish they could have allowed the characters and their relationships to develop more. It took the main leads 14 episodes to clear out their misunderstanding which could have been done in less. They should also give the relationship of Ae-jong-Dae-O and Dae-O-Ha-nee more time to develop. I hate dramas that resolve all issues within an episode. Its too half-baked that way.

If jihyo ends up with the creditor it will be quite interesting but we all know where this is going. Don't think i ll continue from ep 12. Sorry Jihyo, poor storyline.

We all know that she’s going to chose Dae-Oh which annoys me because out of all the possible love interests I disliked his the most. I personally wanted her to give Yeon-Woo or Ryu-Jin a chance since both of these characters deserved it the most. Overall I was disappointed in the direction this kdrama is heading.

Even after they understand the whole situation, his daughter still thinks he left them. But the mother didn't even explain her own daughter and clarify the facts. It feels like the drama is poorly written and dragging to have 16 episodes. I'm quite upset ?

Ana Aug 20 2020 11:05 am Sadly, the whole drama was a drag. The only reason I continued to watch this was because of Jihyo and Hojun. It’s a shame that the actresses and actors in this drama chose this poorly written storyline.

The main thing that bothered me about this drama was the ongoing miscommunication between Jihyo, Hojun, and Hanee’s characters for 13 episodes. It reminds me of the early 2000s kdramas where the miscommunication drags on until the last episode.

The theme of this drama revolved around producing the movie but there were barely any shots of them working on it. Just a few office meetings here and there...

It would’ve been better to see Jihyo’s and Hojun’s characters resolve their issues within 8 episodes so we could see: (A) Hojun and Hanee’s father-daughter relationship grow (B) The movie being produced But they’ll probably rush these two in last 2 episodes.

Overall, the drama isn’t worth watching even if your favorite actress/actors are in it.

Daeoh is no longer childish character. Yeonwoo also no more kinda-annoying character who meddle in other's business. Not forget to mention the story development of Padoo and Dongchan is beautiful.

I hate next week preview it seems like Aejeong's former boss runs with the company's money. Hopefully Ms. Song will not cause another trouble too. I hate super short happy ending drama.

I could understand the anger toward Ae-jong for running away with their daughter. But I also understand the pain that that heartbreak must have cost her. They were really young, and at the time, not the best couple. Mistakes from the past haunt each and everyone of us. Ae-jong's parenting issues are catching up with her. This is why I keep watching. Because even though she messed up as well, her personal growth in this story is what matters the most. I root for her to make things right going forward, for her family, especially for her kid.

At the center of Was It Love is a story of a single mother who made mistakes, and is struggling to see her own faults as a mother. An aspiring film producer and a flawed single parent. If the show focused on this aspect more, I think it could have been a lot more balanced and interesting. Instead of just the "old lovers get back together again" route.

Team Dae O Aug 19 2020 11:43 pm I love how this show is causing viewers to start a discourse!:) the fact that the story is realistic with realistic characters makes people think about what they will do if they were in the characters' shoes. I agree with Lorna Mahony, people always do their best but will make mistakes. No matter how pure our intentions are. I also got frustrated that Aejong didn't tell her daughter the truth but I guess you can blame that on needing to make the script longer..lol. it's also understandable that she's scared to tell her daughter the truth, realizing the horror of her mistake in ep 12 - everything she thought about Dae-O was wrong. But it takes time to process these things and to muster the courage to face the truth. It won't happen overnight with all the other things going on in a person's life.

I don't think Dae-O was manipulative - he was also confused about his emotions. he was deeply hurt and angry... but seeing Aejong again made him realize that he actually still loves her. Of course out of pride/fear he's trying to deny it, but he eventually realizes it as early as ep 4. This is where his acting and expressive eyes came to play. That's when I noticed he is a good actor and direction is great as well. You can just see his thoughts in his eyes! Argh! You see the concern in his eyes when Aejong was agonizing about her debt in ep2, his sly smile when Aejong asked help to talk to Ryu Jin in ep 4, etc! He also needed the other people to help him process what he was actually feeling. Which is real life!

This is the beauty of a drama series is you get to see them grow! Don't expect them to be mature and perfect! There won't be a story worth telling!:)

I am very happily married 11 yrs to my first love (I guess this is why I am team Dae-O). Our relationship also started in university though we were friends (and he courted me) since high school. So we've been through a LOT. First loves is not always the way to go, but if it's true love, why not?? Because what we see little nowadays is the beauty of strong commitment. Very often vows are broken and when the other person has failed our expectations or plainly failed, we are quick to abandon them and maybe even move to someone else. But they will also eventually fail us. You won't find anyone who is perfectly mature and will never disappoint you. Instead be with someone who takes commitment as seriously as you do. Who has enough love to truly go through not just the worst times with you, but even when you feel you're at yourself are at worst. Coz life, people, and relationships are messy.

If the characters continue with their immature, selfish ways with very poor growth, then I think they shouldn't give each other another chance. That's a message we don't want the teens to take away. But the characters here are learning and growing. They are learning to look past themselves and sacrifice for the one they love. To admit they are wrong and to communicate. I didn't like ep13 much.. a bit dragging, but still loving this show!:)

The story lack romance, affection, nothing in this series make your heart flutter or want to scream. It was just...blah! I'm on episode 12 now and most of the storyline was based on the characters having flashbacks. Flashback, flashback, flashback! Like, geez, nothing creative at all! The only reason why I'm still sticking to it is because I love the actress, Song Ji Hyo. It's a shame that she end up with a lame one this time. Don't waste your time on this, but, if you really love Song Ji Hyo running around and finally episode 11 to really find out what happen, knock yourself out.

Ha nee even become closer with dae oh.This is only a misunderstanding and aejeong does not have that kind of energy to easily love and being left again. She DID love dae oh. She was just afraid she might face that kind of challenging things which she has experienced for 14 YRS so long.it will be hard to talk about everything happened. Most of the time we operate on the basis of “different strokes for different folks”. No individuals are the same and that is why we can’t have a generic parenting guidelines that will work with everyone. People will make what they think was the best choice at the time that turns out to be not the best choice at all. What this drama tells us is that people do make unintentional mistakes. We’re human after all. But the point here is not to highlight the mistakes but the ownership, perseverance, humility, resiliency, loyalty, compassion, kindness, and strength Of character when mistakes are made. This is life not a fairytale.

I've watched 11 episodes of this show and people seem to comment that the theme or message is the importance of honest communication in relationships. Hmmm... well, that is true. Communication is indeed integral for any sort of relationship to truly work. But I disagree with the claim that it's the central theme of the show.

If anything, I think what people should take away from this story is that you should be able to find in yourself the strength to ask if you did anything wrong to cause pain to the people you care about/people that care about you. And you should learn from these mistakes to be a better person. That you should try to move on and try to prevent such mistakes from happening again in the future. There are no such things as do overs, only repentance and lessons learned. Moving forward with the knowledge that you've caused pain and known pain.

Oh jeez, I hope Ae-jong and Dae-o don't end up back together again. This show is romanticizing first loves a bit too much. I fear that it might put the wrong idea to impressionable teens.

Okay, let's consider Ha-nee. Yes, she does need a father figure. Everyone does. But do you really think Dae-o should take on that big responsibility himself? Boy he's got a lot to learn but I do have hope for him. But I still think Ha-nee and Ae-jong are better off with other men (hopefully outside of the 4 male leads).

I can't say that I like this show but it is worth thinking about. Relationship dynamics are a bit backwards and 3 of the male leads are so childish! Character intelligence are dispensed with for plot convenience. The show took a risk by jumping between the 5 characters caught in this love pentagon yet ultimately fails to flesh out it's female lead until the big reveal in the 11th episode mark.

I still have hope for the remaining episodes because I like the female lead and I want her to fulfill her dream of producing a film. I want her to continue to be the best parent she could be to her daughter, warts and all.

Daeoh's an a-hole Aug 19 2020 8:44 am I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking that majority of the men pursuing Ae-Jong are manipulative pricks. Yeonwoo acts as if he's the answer to Ae-Jong's problems: a delusional knight in shining armor. Dae-o? Oh my god don't even get me started on him! He's such an entitled prick. There literally are a few scenes that are presented as "romantic" but are clear indicators that he's manipulating Ae-Jong. That one in episode 3 where Ae-Jong gets upset at Dae-o, but Dae-o flips teh situation and avoids the blame by agreeing to make the movie with her, making him the good guy again. Like, what the heck, that's literally gaslighting! Ryu Jin... what a simp.

I had hope for this show. I'm just sad that some of the themes in this story are so backwards. I thought this was a story about a woman chasing her dreams after her youth was taken away from her by motherhood. But, Ae-Jong doesn't really get that much development in her own story. A lot of the time she's just there to receive the frustrations of the men that's pursuing her. Eek. "Was it Love?" I thought this was going to be a bit subversive or at least put a new spin on this type of love story.

But, you know, I'm still hoping this turns out to be a better show in the end. I hope Ae-Jong finally gets to fulfill her dream of producing a movie, despite all the ish she went through just to make it happen.

God, I wish that in the end she get's to be a successful producer, and that she doesn't end up with any of the 3 (or 4) men competing for her attention. Honestly, she doesn't deserve that crap.

This isn't a review fueled by hatred for men, I hope it doesn't come across as that. I mean, I'm a 23 year old guy myself. I'm just very frustrated at the lack of maturity exhibited by the male leads! Jeez, no one would want them and their childish attitudes in a relationship.

Superb acting - I love how his eyes express his emotions very effectively - I hope he gets more attention as an actor:) very different from the many actors I've seen:) so impressed by him I felt I have to leave a comment here for the first time in the hopes it will encourage him and the Was it Love team! Hehe

As I wait for the next episodes, I binge watch all Aejong and Dae-O scenes:) though Dae-O was an a@# in the first episodes, you couldn't get mad at him because he was extremely hurt as established in the flashback. But now that we know the whole story, you understand where Aejong is coming from, too. What gets me swooning is the fact that they still love each other after all these yrs:) so even though the other guys are great candidates, too, Team Dae-O all the way :)

Lesson from the story: Trust and Communication. Dae-O should have trusted that Aejong will accept him despite his family problems and told her what he was going through. Aejong should have trusted Dae-O's love for her and believed the best. Instead of talking with Ryu Jin about their problems, she should have sat Dae-O down and talked to him directly. The moment you stop communicating, the relationship will break down. Even if you're scared.. even when it's hard. Love each other enough to communicate.

Oh, and Ryu Jin should've been a better friend. Lol. Sadly, when you think about it, the 14 painful yrs for Ha-nee, Aejong and Dae-O were all his fault:,(

Can't wait for tonight's episode!!!! Definitely my fave kdrama of all time <3 Awesome actors, relatable characters and great storytelling.

So far, it has the right combination of action, comedy, and drama. Not overdone nor underdone. Just right, making it closely resemble real life and therefore relatable. The actors are outstanding with their performance, executing their strengths and vulnerabilities perfectly. They made me upset, cry, and laugh with them. It may lack the pomp and circumstance like other dramas but it has a gentle but strong content that can’t be denied. But don’t take my word for it. Just my opinion. But give it a try. I give this drama a 10/10 score, plus two extra points for making me cry.

Dae-O never left you, Ae-Jong. It's you that left him because of miscommunication that also led to misunderstanding. So, Dae-o has right to get to know more his daughter.

If you don't want to get hurt again, you don't have to be a couple with Dae-O, but Ha-Nee needs her father.

And the drama so far (eps 12) is good and actors and actresses portray the characters very well. But to be honest, though I am big fans of Running Man and all casts, but in terms drama, I know that Song Ji Hyo is a good actress but not great, sometimes she failed to express character emotion, but her fans are huge and too bias ^-* and they often blamed other characters or other actors.

SPOILER ALERT*

This drama is all about miscommunication. How two couples separated because of lack of communication. Noh Ae-Jong was hurt so much because she was pregnant and her boyfriend suddenly became cold, too busy and didn't have time for their anniversary or called her or what so ever. When you are young (still in college) these kind of problems are huge and tend to lead you to break up. Then when she saw scene **** of her boyfriend, she thought that was the reason why his boyfriend acted like that, in particular when his boyfriend didn't answer her last call and her sms. It's quite understandable if you're pretty introvert or insecure, though for the huge problem like pregnant, I'll confront my boyfriend or at least I'll let him know that I am pregnant and it's your child whether he cheats on me or not. Le't say Noh-ae Jong was hurt so much and when she met again her boyfriend and she is still in love with her, but she doesn't want to get hurt again in particular that is not only her will be hurt, her daughter will be hurt too. But after you know behind story of her boyfriend, she at least should tell her daughter about her dad, because she deserves to know her dad after 14 years and her dad also deserves to know her daughter. Because Oh-Dae-O was not irresponsible but he just simply doesn't know that he has a daughter. Oh-Dae-O, I never find his character is annoying. Yes, he is rude and arrogant, but he does care about Noh-Ae-Jong. If some people said that he is selfish, all 4 men and Noh-Ae-Jong are selfish. Noh-Ae-Jong is super selfish, she only 'cares' about her feeling but not her daughter, her daughter-daddy, etc. Ryu-jin (so far until episode 12) is the character I hate the most. Just because he is the first that knowing and falling in love with Ae-Jong, but the doesn't mean that you can backstabbed your 14-year friend (Dae-O). Being the first doesn't mean that you become the last. Oh-Yeon-woo is also selfish, he doesn't care about how other parents know and react if they know they he lives at Ha-nee house, he doesn't care that Ae-jong is not comfortable with his care and also he doesn't care about his mother. He is just cupidity (cupid-stupidity). Koo-pa-do is a little bit selfish, just because Ae-jong looks like his wife doesn't mean that he can get involved with Ae-jong life. So...That is why it's called drama. If it's not dramatic, your emotion when watching the drama won't up and down ^-* Lastly, actually I prefer Noh-Ae-jong stay single and live happily with her daughter and her mother. But, Ha-Nee deserves to know more about his daddy. They just simply co-parenting Ha-Nee, they don't to be married couple if Ae-jong cannot forgive Dae-O and Dae-o cannot clear their miscommunication . They will hurt each other and I want Dae-O become a happy person whoever he is with.

He was young, he was clueless about his gf leaving him w/o a word. He's not at fault for hating her all these time, who wouldn't? He was insensitive towards his gf, yes, but he deserves explanation because he was still too young to understand these thing, he didnt know what he did wrong. Most of my exes during college were this clueless hahaha..

Now that he knows everything, he started to self-blame. To add to his misery, Ah Jeong's mother is questioning why would he hate her if he loved her? Well, he has the right to hate someone who left him. Soon enough, his daughter will hate him for not being there for her all this time. Hahahah.. What a poor boy.

All the guys here are manipulative to Aejeong in their own way, (except Goo Pado): 1. Daeoh : s manipulative in childish way and super ignorant. How can't he count Hanee's age. He wants revenge but suddenly wants be together, then be a father.As if it will be that easy. 2. Ryujin : the text and call history deletion, both are his best friends. I can't... 3. Yeonwoo : He acts like sincere person, but he's manipulative too. Anyone is fine but Daeoh?? He knows that Daeoh is the real threat for him in pursuing Aejeong, so its like anyone is okay but the one ranks above me. And he wish to stay beside her all the time also, but says anyone is fine? As if there will be a man coming and see him, and fine, he only someone who likes her for a long time and still likes her and stay super close to her, but I'm really okay with that.

So, all three men are self centered and manipulative. Aejeong better stay away from them. And for Hanee, let her decide, to have contact or not with her father. Maybe Daeoh and Hanee can be friends, since Daeoh is childish.

Hey I am back. Just watched til ep 12. And you have to take it easy on Dae-OH and Ah-Jeong. Yeah they messed up big time because of communication issues. They were too proud to tell each other’s problems. It happens in real life and real relationships. That’s why they always say communication is key. But even as adults they are not properly communicating well, and Han-ee takes the heat for it because they are both too proud. It’s the child’s right to know her dad, but it’s the mom’s right to let her child know since she’s the one who raised her up. I genuinely appreciate Dae-oh’s courage to step up as his father but he really should’ve thought abt how to handle it.. Han-ee will be super confused soon.

Nothing wrong with Dae-Oh and AJ getting back together. The previous title was “Begin Again.” So these two will definitely end up with each other in the end. I can’t deny the strong past they had. But if you ask me, Yeon-woo is the best one for her. Here are some of my few takes on why:

1. AJ’s family likes Yeon-woo. Han-ee wishes that he is her dad, the AJ’s mom is even pushing him to take AJ on a date.

2. He helps her in his own ways, he isn’t a famous actor/writer/or a rich guy (his mom is) but he refuses to get help from his mom.

3. He completely lets go of his pride when AJ And Han-ee’s reputation was in danger and knelt down on his mom so she could help AJ.

4. Among the three, he didn’t do anything bad to AJ. Dae-oh was selfish of thinking he was the only one in pain. Ryu-jin sabotaged AJ’s relationship. And Dong-chan appa is literally a threat to AJ’s life.

5. He’s humble. He’s protective of AJ but not selfish AT ALL. He even admitted to the actress that he’s going to be okay if AJ doesn’t choose him at all, as long as she’s happy and safe.

6. If you watch EP 10 I think or 9. When AJ was thinking of getting an abortion inside a clinic. She accidentally dropped her assignment with Yeon-woo back in college (the baby journal thing), and there it was written the baby names they’ve thought of. And she gained strength from it to not to push through with her decision to abort Han-ee. It just goes to say even when Yeon-woo wasn’t there, he was there. <3

7. I like to think that AJ is still in denial of her feelings to Yeon-woo. She still haven’t read his letter and a lot has come out now, even their past!!!

8. He is just genuinely kind to her and everyone. No hidden agendas. He kept his feelings for 14years because he thought that somebody else is taking care of her. And the moment he knew he was a single mother, he made his moves to protect her in his own teacher ways.

9. I really want him to be the end game but the script on ep 12 didn’t even give justice to his character. He just stood there when Han-ee was being accused of being a bad child. This was so UNLIKE him. On the previous episodes, he was in beck and call of the family. And Dae-oh appeared during the meeting and writers made Yeon-woo a standing-non-talking extra on that scene which was not his character at all. He even calls out Dae-oh on his mistakes, and for hurting AJ, he punched the guy!! Now he can’t defend them all of a sudden to a couple of PTA popular parents. He basically owns the school!! ):<

10. Lastly. He is so honest with AJ! Of course he’s hiding the fact that he is a chaebol. But it’s understandable. He doesn’t want to be his mom’s puppy. But do remember the times when he said he was silent for 14years abt his feelings, he’s ready to be Han-ee’s dad, he hated the fact that he was so young when AJ got pregnant, and more <3

If he does end up with AJ (which I totally think is impossible but still hoping...) please writers, get me for your future stories lol!

Re comments about Ae-Jung denying daughter Ha-Nee a father in her life, Ae-Jung did not have a blueprint on the importance of a father figure as her own father died when she's young and she's following her mother's footsteps in bringing up her daughter without a father as well as coping the best she could, thinking she could take on role of mother and father at the same time, as mentioned by herself in the earlier episodes.

The following is my observation re the 4 guys :

Gangster guy Pa-Do - of all the 4 guys, she knows Pa-Do the least and has minimum time spent with him. She has respect for Pa-Do but no personal feelings.

Actor Ryu Jin - my take is she treats him as like an elder brother and as such, had confided her problems to him.

PE teacher Yeon-Woo - he comes across as a lovelorn puppy to me but in a nice way and never creepy. My impression is that she treats him like a younger brother in bringing him food when he was hospitalised and encouraging him on alternative career he could take after his dreams of being a professional basketball player were dashed. When on the island, Yeon-Woo made her a cup of chocolate and told her that he followed her daughter's specifications on the style she likes her chocolate made, she was casual in thanking him and he looked disappointed.

Writer Oh Dae-O (ODO) - he's her 1st love and as I had mentioned in previous comments, it's because when one loves a person, expectations are higher and when conflicts arise there's disappointments . It would seem logical for both ODO and Ae-Jung to give each other a chance, more so as they have a daughter to bring up.

From the preview of episode 13, it appears that actor Jin and Ae-Jung's best friend Sook Hee managed to make Ha-Nee see the perspective that ODO and Ae-Jung have unfinished business to settle.

Also from the preview, it seems that Ae-Jung, daughter Ha-Nee and Dong-Chan faced danger of being kidnapped, possibly by

1. Gangster guy Pa-Do's past enemies. 2. Jennifer Song's henchmen as she has a score to settle with Ae-Jung, 3. PE teacher's mother's henchmen - she may want to get rid of Ae-Jung. 4. Actress Joo A-Rin who is desperate to get rid of Ae-Jung.

The preview comment by ODO to Ae-Jung that he would give everything until Ae-Jung and Ha-Nee accept him has an ominous overtone - sort of like setting the stage for endangering his life to rescue Ae-Jung when she and the 2 kids get kidnapped. My guess is that gangster guy Pa-Do will also win over his ward Dong-Chan's trust when he rescues him.

As mentioned previously, Kdrama being Kdrama, it would appear that the 4 guys will be all hands-on-deck to scramble to the rescue.

Yes it’s obvi that Dae Oh is the daddy, but who will she end up with? Personally I’m rooting for Yeon-woo (PE teacher) he is promising, humble, mature, and doesn’t have a single mark of selfishness. He was ready to be a dad for Hanee. From the very first episode, he’s the first one who defended the Ae Jeong. Yes, he couldn’t help Ae Jeong on her work unlike the other three guys, but still he really stands out with helping her daughter (who is btw the most important one in Ae Jeong’s life). You gotta give some credit to the teacher ❤️ I just really hope she ends up choosing him in the end, instead of Dae Oh. I am also loving Ae Jeong’s character as a single mom. It’s hard to raise a child on her own, and it’s really brave of her to actually go back and pursue her dreams. I feel like Yeon-woo is the best guy for her to balance her life. Someone calm and reserved, unlike the three. A drunkard, a gangster, and some basic actor. Lol dnt hate, I have my bias you have yours. And being in the Film Industry, I understand her joy in making films. ❤️ ??? this is an underrated series. If she does end up with Dae-oh...I guess I would want justice be given with their sudden break-up. I have to watch it til the end.

I also agree on some comments here. As a mother, she shouldn't do that to her child or the child's father. They have the right to know the truth. Unless the father is a very bad father like an abussive man, a rapist or a murderer, there is no reason hide a child like that. Even a cheater have the right to get to know their own child.

As the story unfolded , it went from interesting to boring and flat ,oh well to each its own , some may find it nice but for me maybe not.

She has changed 10 schools so far. She is bullied and I'll treated. The girl is depressed. The signs are there. Yet her mother and grandmother failed to understand. She may have had reasons to break up with ohdae. But when you see your kid struggling you would set aside your ego and reach out to her father.

Dissapointed in the struggle Ae-Jung is having with herself as she knows better than this. And she knows better for Ha-Nee's sake. If the writers have them riding off into sunset together it could be one of the most misguided endings in kdrama.

It is difficult to root for either one. No Ae-Jung's behavior is simply baffling. She hid her child from the child's father for 14 years because he did not respond to a text? That is the only effort she could make before deciding the father had no reason to know that he had a child? A single text? And the child at 14 years old is justified in wanting to know who her father is. However, even when asked directly by No Ha-Nee, No Ae-Jung could not find the strength to reveal the identity of the father. The plot is ridiculous plot even for a kdrama. Not surprised by the low national ratings.

Kudos writer nim! I would've trashed this drama if they end up putting stupid and petty reasons for their misunderstanding in the past but turns out the reasons is so well written! It is totally understandable how everything turns out from the past to the present. Prepare tissues if you haven't watched ep11!

Also, when ha nee's father was revealed... it's still Dae O. Some of the fans that were expecting a plot twist have not been satisfied.

Also that the gangster guy Koo Pa-Do gets closer to Ae-Jung in upcoming episode whereby Ae-Jung was being trailed by Kpp Pa-Do's enemies.

My guess (and I can be very wrong) is that Kdrama being Kdrama, the last 2 episodes will likely be that Ae-Jung and/or daughter Ha-Nee get kidnapped; the 4 guys will team up and scramble to the rescue Something dramatic will happen for Ha-Nee to acknowledge her father ODO.

I agree with comment that Ae-Jung's best friend Sook-Hee may be a good match fro gangster guy Pa-Do

Although, she did sleep with Ryu Jin when she saw what happened through the window (same day), so where would she have time to sleep around and have a 14 year old daughte? Plus, you have to consider nine months of pregnancy, the timing is not right for someone else. I can’t believe Dae Oh never considered Ha Née as being his daughter till now. They have 6 more episodes to resolve their issues. I wonder how they will tell Ha Nee because she really believes Ryu Jin is her dad. It’s gonna get crazy. The gangster should get together with her weird bar owner bestie. I think that would be interesting to see.

But i must say pado is best for aejeong protective and mature. Yeonwoo is nice great guy but shd not do this as ha nee’s teacher. Ryu is quite messed up haha but he’s v funny.. daeoh can be immature at times and v self centred but after knowing he is hanee real dad he should be more mature and more commited to aejeong and his family. Not questioning what she mean, what she really saw. But no, he just ask why his "girlfriend" want to met him

And I try to remind my self that this is drama, coz real people will demand a full story of what other people accused on them. But then, some short temper people who don't listen do exist.

1) AeJeong went to DaeOh's house that night to tell him that she was pregnant with his child however she caught ArRin kissing him and misunderstands. Since DaeOh had been cold to her pior, she assumes that his love for her had faded and was seeing another woman. This leads back to what she said - she had only two choices back then: 1) to die, or 2) to leave him. (And she chose to leave him). She couldn't die because she was pregnant and she was heartbroken that DaeOh cheated, so she left.

2) It all makes sense that DaeOh is the father if you think back and link the scenes - she mentioned to DaeOh before that her husband was 'dead' and to stop bringing up her husband. On the island, she told DaeOh that he had been 'dead' to her ever since they broke up, and to remain 'dead' to her.

3) At DaeOh's house, DaeOh asked her what did she want to tell him that night. She hesitated and said it doesn't matter anymore because it is really just the fact that she was pregnant with his child, however she doesn't want DaeOh to know.

4) When ArRin told AeJeong that she met DaeOh 14 years ago, AeJeong linked ArRin to the woman that DaeOh cheated on her with. That's why she mentioned ArRin but DaeOh got confused and frustrated (he doesn't know ArRin is Hyo-sim who kissed him, and AeJeong didn't know about ArRin's real name).

Despite it being so obvious that Dae-O is the father and Ae-Jung only left him so he can perhaps continue building his career (?). And they'll definitely get back together in the end. And there was definitely no one night stand with Ryu-Jin. She acts so nonchalant towards him, it's obvious she looks at him as just a friend as she did 14 years ago. He perhaps thinks they did because they probably got so drunk that he can't remember what exactly happened. That night is never shown from her prespective anyway. Otherwise, it's a great light hearted drama,should definitely get higher ratings!!

No Ae gets hurt runs and never look back, and never gave Dae Oh a chance to know. Oooh the twists, cant wait to find out for real.

The recurring scene that she’s crying on his shoulders is after Oh Da-i and her break-up, and the supposedly one-nightstand is after she already found out that she was pregnant. And it doesn’t makes sense that she would be this upset with Da-i and hold such grudge against him, meanwhile Ryu Jin (if the father) had also left her and her baby.

My opinion though, I could be wrong.

Vinny Aug 05 2020 2:34 pm If you think the way Dae Oh acts is annoying (which is not if you understand the story well), then why don't you realize that Ae Jeong is actually acting the same way as him? (which is also not annoying because her feelings are valid). It's because they were both hurt and thought that the other person was the cause of the great pain they've bore for 14 years. If you are annoyed with Dae Oh and not with Ae Jeong, you are just being biased since we know more about Ae Jeong's life story and thinks she's always on the right side right but she's not perfect, especially with how he treats Dae Oh. The only difference they have is that Dae Oh accepted that he still has feelings for her after all these years (despite thinking he was the only one who got hurt) and wants to act accordingly. Ae Jeong doesn't want to acknowledge her feelings for the same reason that she thinks she was the only one who got hurt in the past.

You guys can't just accept that he'll end up with the girl because "he's not tall and handsome" for you and the other TOXIC characters are "way more handsome" than him. Of course they will not be all lovey dovey because they have a painful past that is not yet resolved! Do you really expect them to be all sweet now? Once they both clear up what happened before, they can have a better relationship and show us the connection that is definitely there.

Of course he doesn't know what really happened 14 years ago and got hurt because of that so he would act that way. Ryu Jin and Oh Hyun Woo are soo freaking toxic as suitors but you all wouldn't accept that because they are tall and handsome (heck Dae Oh is very handsome, too). Ryu and Hyunwoo keep on pushing Dae Oh away from Ae Jeong but really, who are they to do that? They don't have the right to do that. It's so obvious Ryu Jin can't even do anything for her especially giving up his career. And Hyun Woo? He likes her that much yet he still hides the truth about his family background and why he lives alone. He shows no intention of telling Ae Jeong who he really is and it's pretty obvious that even if he does, his mother will never accept them as a couple. Instead of being good to the girl and do their best to win her, they focus on removing their strong rival who is "getting in the way" between them and Ae Jeon but the truth is Ae Jeong doesn't see them in a romantic way.

merciless026 Aug 05 2020 11:30 am Some people are srsly hating on Dae Oh?? Really?? I've always liked tall people but here, I'm more attracted with Son Ho Jun than the other 3 combined. He was so goodlooking and the moment he appeared on Episode 1, I was like a giddy teenager. Except for his childish act when he reversed his car and when he snobbed off Ah rin for Aejeong, he's pretty much the perfect lead for me. It's clear as day that Aejeong only has feelings for him.

My assessment is based solely on the Kdrama's characters. I find that other than Oh-Dae-O, the other 3 guys bring along baggage. For example,

Actor Ryu Jin owes his success as an actor to Jennifer Song and he had in fact gave in to pressure in stating that she's his 1st love to appease her. He also needs his manager, Myung Kwae-Nam, to take care of him. It is unlikely that he would give up his success as an actor to marry No Ae-Jung - he in fact had a nightmare of No Ha-Nee outing him as her father. He comes across as wishy-washy.

PE teacher Oh Yeon-Woo does have a liking for No Ae-Jung. However in Asian society background, especially conservative South Korea, a marriage entails parental blessings - and Oh Yeon-Wo's mother, being a woman of social status and wealth, would not agree or bless her son's marriage to a single woman with a teenage daughter in tow. Ae-Jung will face lots of in-law (or is it outlaw?) problems if she does marry Oh Yeon-Woo as she would never be good enough for Oh Yeon-Woo in the eyes of Oh Yeon-Woo's snobbish mother.

Koo Pa-Do may be able to offer No Ae-Jung a better life after marriage but his lifestyle is fraught with danger in the form of enemies from the past, including underworld triads, who are out to kill him and his family members.

My guess (and I could be wrong) is that No Ae-Jung left Oh Dae-O after finding out that she's in the family way; she resented Oh Dae-O as she had to forsake her undergrad studies and her dream of being a film producer. Drama did not reveal much facts yet but from what's seen so far, she comes across as a stubborn person who has a lot of pride. Did she share with Oh Dae-O that she's in the family way or did she expect him to know or guess? In most cases, it's a situation of miscommunication or breakdown in communication between them.

My assumption is that No Ae-Jung did not have a one-night-stand with the actor - they just shared the same bed and fell asleep; in short, nothing happened between them.

Both Ae-Jung and Oh Dae-O have been hurt by each other. Ae-Jung is always on her defence when with the guy as she does not wish to get hurt again. This is reflective of deep relationships, be it between a girl and guy or very close friends of the same sex - conflicts arise and parties get hurt due to words and/or actions of the other party. Herein lies the paradox - forgiveness, healing and understanding between the parties are needed. In Ae-Jung's case, deep down she still loves and cares for On Dae-O. It's a truism to say the course of true love never did run smooth.

I have read on another forum whereby someone commented that the producer chose Son Ho-Jun for this role precisely because he is suitable for such a role and sited 3 previous roles whereby Son Ho-Jun had acted in a similar way.

One should never criticised an actor/actress for lack of height or looks but to base on how well actor/actress acted role. If I were to judge an actor or actress based on their height and compared them to my UK classmates, none would pass as 3 of my tallest female classmates stand at 1.81 m, 1.88 m and 1.91 m with the 1.91 m female's boyfriend standing at 1.96 m.

Some were derogatory to Son ho Jun not being handsome and tall. Please get your self checked if you dont find Ho Jun attractive, cause healthy women with proper harmonal balance would think otherwise lol. And about the character Oh Dae Oh, It praise worthy how the writer wrote Dae oh's character and Ho jun who played it perfectly. Dae Oh seem very intelligent always think ahead of others. He get things done the way he wants. He isn't the one to give up. He keeps trying..till he achieves his goals. His character is out of ordinary very interesting and inspiring for a K drama lead. Only Dae Oh has a special bond with the leading lady and its only him that she loves. He is persistent and sincere with his feelings and love for Noh Aejong. He was more affected than Ryu jin when Aejong disappeared. Ryu jin was and is never brave to confess or show his feelings. Ryu jin isnt even fully prepared to accept Aejong or hanee over his career yet. And about the Yeon woo guy he is creepy. Forcing himself upon Aejong. He is all nosy with Ajeong telling her what to do and what not to do.He also is always voilent towards Dae oh. But What I find most irritating is they both are preventing Dae Oh from getting close to Aejong than showing her thier best. They both are not confident enough that Aejong would love them back. Lastly, This show is a plain love story of two "Oh Dae oh" and "No Aejong". Thier love for eachother, misunderstandings which made them fall apart and Hanee finding her real father. Its only filled with other 3 love interest, to create some drama, confusion and to prolong the show I suppose. I dont think there is suspense or twist to who is the father and who the mother will end up with?? If somr people aren't yet smart enough to see this then I dont know what they have been watching...??

After her MC she took in a little baby that got abandoned by her mother so she took in that baby and cared for her...if one of them was the father then im sure she’ll feel really nervous or she would let her daughter know who her father is...because every kid deserves to know who their biological parent is..

And now his trying his best to win her over.

He doesn't care to mind about what aejong really feels. What annoys me more about him is dat he cant even act profesionally in class. He treats aejong differently from the other parents as well as hanee from other students.

Dae O is the real deal. He was a little playful and immature in the past but he loved aejong. He was deeply hurt about their break up that he wanted revenge until he crossed paths again that made him realized that he is still inlove with her crazily. His cold persona in the present is just his front for aejong but is the one who still is in aejong's heart. Also hanee has dae o's stubborn and frank personality. They looked liked family in the accident scene.

That was whem he woke up naked the next morning with a note from aejong on the table. And because of guilt, he remained a good friend with ryujin. I am also suspecting that he has something to do with aejong and dae o's misunderstanding from the past.

On the other hand, Mr. Koo wants to protect aejong because she reminds him of his dead wife. Especially now that they got a little closer and his son's bestie's mom.

I really love this drama, It's full of mystery, romance and comedy. Always makes my heart flutter.

Trying to put together the missing pieces and think about, who is the best match for her.

At first, my favorite was Mr. Koo, but he isn’t getting enough story time. Dao is great but really a hot head and not too considerate of others. Ryu is the most handsome, but has lacked strength to pursue her.

It is unconventional, but I think the young teacher is the winner for me. He has been very kind, but I find myself still wishing Ryu will man up! Hope the show does well! All cast is doing a great job!!!

He wanted to be an actor but was too shy to do it? Why even be an actor if it makes you so uncomfortable? He's soooo boring! So monotone and nothing about him would interest her for too long. That would a long and BORING life with this guy. You'll always have to baby him into doing anything. At least Dae Oh went for what he wanted. When he started to like her, he pursued her. He is the only one that she interacts so passionately and well with. He's upfront with her and honest. Ryu Jin not only pretended to be his friend when he knew he slept with her before she left. Yeah what a "good" fellow that is. For 14 years, he kept that secret from his "buddy". The teacher is still boring and creepy. He keeps so many secrets and was pining for an older lady for 14 years that he never dated just like the creepy actress. The actress and the younger man who I don't really ever remember the name (so unremarkable except for his looks and creepiness). The worst of the bunch is the main actress. She breaks up with a guy without confronting him first and then keeps secrets from her own daughter about who her father is. I wonder if Ryu Jin is really the dad from a one night stand when she was obviously in a relationship with Dae Oh. Why would she sleep with the actor and not her official boyfriend for a year? The fact that her daughter assumes he is the dad because of course, the dude is a silent coward and really thinks he's the dad from the one night stand. So, really, Ae Jung is really the worst of the bunch.

Laboni Jul 31 2020 3:44 am The more I watch the show, the more I do not like Dae oh. I do not like the since they had a past they are supposed to be endgame. What about Ryu Jin? He stayed quiet about this feelings for so long, and in fact helped his best friend get the girl he liked. At this point, I would be happy if she ends up with Ryu Jin or my personal favourite Koo Pa Do. I don't like the teacher either, and him and the ex are getting the most screentime ugh! Though I highly doubt that anything would happen with Pa Do at this point and it makes me so sad. He has the least amount of screentime. The rest of the guys have some kind of history with her, Pa Do is completely new. So there is no baggage there (aside from his dead wife that looks like her). I wanna see them together way more than the other three. God, this show is giving me second lead syndrome three times over ???

I think all the other men would suit Ae Jung except for Dae O. They lack chemistry. They're more like friends than lovers. I don't mind if they end up together though since it seems to be where the story is pointing to from the beginning. However, I would be very disappointed if Ryu Jin did not end up as Ha Nee's dad.

She never explained to her daughter that she never told the dad she had a kid so her kid thinks her dad abandoned her even though it’s not true. How could she not even notice her daughter’s strange behavior. The younger man is a creepy stalker, the actor is a sensitive cry baby, the gangster seems to be hiding something, and the writer is bitter over her leaving without telling him why. What is so good about her? Why are they coming to her at the same time? She didn’t date the whole 14 years? I feel bad for the writer because it looks like she cheated on him with his actor friend (who also liked her). So what is good about her? Apparently, Dae Oh left her first... How? Why?

Looks like she’s gonna end up with cheon ok man. But tbh, i don’t really sense the chemistry between them. But instead I’m hoping she will end up with the little kid’s father the gangster. Among the four guys, he’s the one that matured enough and suitable for ae jong. While the rest of the guy, are selfish enough to never think about ae jong situation. She’s a changed person with a daughter, a single mother and family to support. But all the rest of the guy only stuck in the past, pushing themselves into ae jong. The actor only just think about his career on the line while the teacher, only cares about his feelings. and ok cheon man, of course he never bother to understand ae jong but just carrying out his love to her. especially with Jo A Rin character, I’m ready to hate her, but instead I grew pity of her. She’s been in love since school. Her heart must be broken.

The drama has a lot to say and the producers did well. The casts are perfect in their respective roles. I still can't believe this receives low ratings. In my opinion, this drama deserves more attention and higher ratings.

Living in the same house, creept smiles, creepy acts at the PTA meeting that made aejung uncomfortable, butting in aejung and daeoh's problem to 'protect' her. Urgh i dont like him. He's a simp. Thanks god he's now completely out of the father's candidate.

I think song ji hyo suits the best with a taller, mature-looking guy. Please can he have noh ae jung this time? Cause back in college, I think he only gave up on her for his friend Dae-o. Huhuhuhu

No Ae Jung has typical-real world problems (--except maybe for the 4 good looking men vying for her love all at the same time), which makes her relatable to the audience. The 4 guys are also so appealing that I can't help but ship her with all of them. I can't choose who I want her to end up with! Absolutely recommended if you just want that feel-good series!

Its only filled with other 3 love interest, to create some drama, confusion and to prolong the show I suppose. I dont think there is suspense or twist to who is the father and who the mother will end up with?? So I guess everybody just need to chill..including me ???

These actors are so good - I admire and appreciate each and every frown, smirk, silence, the scenes where all these little details are captured so beautifully. My heart aches seeing Dae Oh, how he pretends not to care when he is hurting so bad - this actor is good. Ji Hyo has become so much better, I loveeeee how she portrays a strong woman who goes through difficult times alone, how well she plays a woman in a meltdown, I love this woman! Ryu Jin plays another great role - I hate seeing how convincing his acting is - his best friend is still very much in love with his crush. 10/10, this drama!

And turn out 1 of them raped aejung without realised or he drunk too. I do think she doesn't know who the father. He just shock when she first time meet daeoh and then angry upset about past times, yeonwo she want ignore, something good happen but being cancelled in past. Oh yes his mother fault. Ryujin she just preety casual nothing bad happen with them. About koopado zero information haha. Well its just twist opinion.

In the first ep her grandmother told Ha Nee that there are people who you wish is already dead. Some people say that it might be Ryujin, but I think not because Aejeong had courage to go to Ryujin (from Ep 1). Unlike with Oh Dae Oh, if she knew that he's the writer I don't think she'll meet him. So let's go back to what Aejong's mom said, for Aejong she'll rather think that Oh Dae Oh is dead than meet him. Therefore, I really think that Oh Dae Oh is Ha Nee's father. Anyway, let's wait for what this drama will bring us!

Maybe that night in the rain she told ryujin she was pregnant or maybe he connected that Dae Oh’s the father and rushed because he feels bad because he didnt clear up the misunderstanding between Aejung and Dae Oh. I think Ryujin knew it was a misunderstanding but didnt say anything because he had feelings for Aejung and now that theres a child in the mix he’ll feel EXTRA guilty for not helping them stay together

• Something happened between Aejeong and DaeOh before they breakup 14 years ago. • There was a misunderstanding which caused AeJeong to think that DaeOh left (or either cheated) her. • Ryujin, who is already in love with AeJeong that time, comforted her even it hurts him seeing the woman he loves cry for other man. This shows when he asked her "How about me? Do you not care about me?" • In the scene where AeJeong was crying in the middle of the rain and Ryujin hugged her, something happened between them that night. This shows in the facial expression of Ryujin when he remembers what happened 14 years ago. • Both of them might be drunk that time, AeJeong can't remember what happened (as she was not awkward with Ryujin and was even excited to see him in the present) but Ryujin still remembers it. • AeJeong found out that she's pregnant and believes that DaeOh is the father of her child but because of the misunderstanding, she left him. • DaeOh thought that AeJeong just disappeared without a reason as he never heard AeJeong's side so he resent her. • RyuJin is feeling guilty on what happened between him and AeJeong and so he stayed by DaeOh's side • AeJeong met YeonWoo who eventually fell in love with her and willing to take the responsibility of being a father to her child • He wrote his name in AeJeong's baby journal which HaNee discovered in the present. He told his mom that he loves AeJeong and she's pregnant as shown in flashback but his mom was against it and made a way to pull him away or to drive AeJeong away which led them to be apart for 14 years. • AeJeong, thinking that DaeOh is the father of HaNee, afraid that they will meet so he stopped him from going to HaNee's school as lecturer • DaeOh, thinking that YeonWoo is AeJeong's husband, did not even doubt that HaNee is YeonWoo and AeJong's child but might soon have a hunch that HaNee might be his daughter after finding out that AeJeong has no husband and that she raised HaNee alone • RyuJin, knowing that something happened between him and AeJeong 14 years ago had a hunch that HaNee might be his daughter after knowing that she's AeJeong's child and realizes that she's also 14 years old • PaDo's late wife looks like AeJeong and so he wanted to take care of her and protect her. He's the only one who does not have past connection or relationship with AeJeong but I think his relationship with her will progress a lot in the upcoming episodes.

This is just my theory and just want to leave it here. I'm still not sure if HaNee's father is DaeOh or RyuJin. Ugh, can't wait for the next episodes.

About the plot, well- we all know that it would be NAJ x ODO in the end and if that so, I really, really, really hope that ODO isn't the father of NHN because that would be too predictable and makes the story would be so boring. The rating is unsurprisingly low because its a wed-thu drama and aired on cable tv, but I enjoyed the drama so far and definitely can't wait for the next ep

Koo PaDo ex-wife I guess looks like NAJ, that's why he is being nice to her despite the loan problem. the flashback about Oh YeonWoo telling his mom that NAJ was pregnant, maybe because he wanted his mom to know that he still likes NAJ although NAJ got pregnant with someone else child. and I think the girl Joo A-Rin might have something to do with the breakup since in the episode 5 trailer for next week, looks like she likes ODO/COM, maybe she is the misunderstanding behind the breakup.

And wow, didn't expect that I will be so into it and will fall in love with each of the characters, not just with the male leads but also with HaNee (looks like young Kim JiWon), AeJeong's mom (the nation's mom lol) and the investor's son.

Most of the dramas these days have dark concepts so this is really a breathe of fresh air.

I am seriously falling hard with this drama and also to Cheon Ok Man. At first i am rooting for Koo Pa Do but after watching ep 4, please let Noh Ae Jeong be with Cheon Ok Man (Oh Dae Oh). Oh my, thinking that I have to wait for 7 days for the next episodes. And oh my, having all of them at the same time, seriously i cant imagine what Ae Jeong will do. She will definitely turn down Ohon Woo and Ryu Jin. Koo Pa Do, being a gentleman and handsome and macho, will definitely wont bother to express his feelings towards Ae ajeong.

I think ... - Ha Nee's father is Dae O. - Yeon Woo's name was written in Ae jung's diary maybe because he wrote it himself, reminder they are close and he already likes her 14 yrs ago. - Ryu Jin is responsible with the misunderstanding of Dae O and Ae Jung. Lol this is just my thoughts after watching ep 1 and 2. Anw, the storyline was unique and exciting. It has a good start and I hope it will go until the end :)

I like no ae jung's character potrayed in this drama and how the four mcs acted. I am specially liking koo pa do's chara. Raeann Jul 12 2020 5:51 am I highly recommend this drama to everyone! this drama has a really promising and interesting plot. It addresses a wide range of topics faced in society such as single parenting and the type of discrimination they face. The first episode of this drama was really touching for me ( I even cried) and the later part was really hilarious! Song Ji Hyo's facial expressions are really on point and I feel that her acting really improved and she has put in a lot of hard work! I also feel that the character of this drama is really similar to her in real life. Like how she curses and gets pissed off easily hahah really similar to her Running Man character. The second episode was really interesting too, you start to see the link between the 4 guys and her university days. I honestly think that this drama has a very unique plot and it is definitely worth watching! there is just an element of surprise to it. I really hope people give this drama a chance and not let these talented actors and actresses effort go to waste! The 4 other guy actors are also really charismatic and have a funny character as well! I like them all with SJH they all have great chemistry. Moreover, the ost is also great! I hope the actors and actresses won't be discouraged by the low ratings of 2% in Korea. Although the second episode did have a small increase of ratings to 2.2% please continue to support this drama as I think this is really a hit:) thank you

I only say a drama is good if it really has all of the qualities (actors, plot, act) and I definitely will watch this til the end ^^

The drama is so interesting, and the first two episodes makes me feel like 15th july is like, another month of waiting feeling (btw, it is only another 4 days to go). Song Ji Hyo portrays the role perfectly. All the emotions displayed, such wow. I am putting my heart on Pa Do. He is such a charming macho man compared to the other three. Looks like he could use some love from Noh Ae Jeong. But the writer, cheok ok nam aka Dae Oh seems like ok, a bit snobbish (given the thought that he think he was dumped by Noh Ae Jeong). It is definitely a MUST WATCH. Highly recommended it based on the first two episodes!

At first I don't really hope anything because from synopsis and trailer it sound ordinary, but after I watch 1st&2nd episode I started falling in love with all character,actor,plot,twist,bgm and everything on this drama.Really make audience curious about the next episode,what happen with No Ae Jung,etc in the past? Actually I'm fan of SHK and SJH of course. Actually this drama better than encounter and ex-girlfriend club. I watch encounter but I finished that drama until the last episode just because of SHK not because the story line was good (for me). I honestly prefer acting of SJH than SHK for this time.She has really improved her acting.And I think the character/acting SJH from ex-girlfriend club different from this drama. Just like the drama One Mom and Three Dads. Father dies and she’s taking care of their child but his three friends help her and fall in love with her. Same type of similar plot but it’s completely different. K-Dramas are repetitive but doesn’t necessarily mean they’re stealing. They go off of what the viewers are into that moment.
