Plot
This romantic drama follows a young woman's life who has so many hardships and obstacles yet never loses her faith in herself. In the chaotic situation during the post-war period, she has to work as a prostitute to feed her family while she has a dream of becoming a schoolteacher. She meets a young doctor with whom she falls in love, but they cannot come together. Several years later, her dream has come true and she works as a teacher, when she and the doctor reunite, but again, there are more than enough obstacles in their love as well as Sumiko's life.
