In the city of Taewon, a series of arson cases continues to wreak havoc and cause fear among its residents. A fire breaks out in the Galmae Parking Tower in the Muyeong neighborhood. Detective Jin Ho-Gae (Kim Rae-Won) and Firefighter Bong Do-Jin (Son Ho-Jun) risk their lives by entering through the rooftop of the burning building to put the fire out and arrest the culprit. Later, the corpse of the suspect is found bound and burned in a parked car trunk at the parking tower. The Taewon Police Station and Taewon Fire Department draw in the help of the NFS (National Forensic Service) to stop the serial arson case once and for all. Soon, a fire break outs out at the Muyeong Shopping Center. While the members of the Taewon Fire Department are about to leave for the shopping center, a call is received that a second fire has just broken out at an industrial warehouse.

This show has the potential to have more seasons similar to Voice. What I was afraid of was that the more seasons we get, the higher the potential of the writer to knock off a character. With that being said, I just wish they didn't kill Dojin, but I'm afraid somehow it was bound to happen as the series goes. I really like the addition of Kang Doha because his characters are calm and collected, which is the opposite of Hogae, which makes them a great partner. I also love how they portray hogae and seol relationships. Yes, they care for each other; yes, they even kissed, but they showed it in a very subtle way, which I prefer in a kdrama. Will I ever move on from this series? Maybe, but it will take a while.

I like it that there are some funny scenes here and there in the middle of chaos. But most importantly the plot twist!!! Actually I kinda guess that the first timw Dex came to autopsy room as replacement of Ms. Yun made me think that he's the villain. But I couldn't believe the moment he showed up at karavan and actually confess to Jin Hogae that I was right since the beginning hahaha ✌️

Uhui Sep 17 2023 1:19 am This season 2 story is so great, but the title is not so relatable anymore. This is more of detective/police work than first response team. Still this is a very good series. Eventhough I really want them to make season 3, I just think this ending is a good conclusion and season 3 is not really necessary.

- - SPOILER ALERT*** I really think Bong Do Jin's death is very unlogical. Song Seol said Do Jin could have gone out, but he chose to stay to preserve the evidence by eating them (candles). Couldn't he just put the candles in his trousers pocket, or shoes, or just hold them while he was going out? It is very unlogical. But then again, sorry to say, I think Do Jin's death is necessary if they want to have a love story between Jin Ho Gae and Song Seol. Because three of them is too considerate of each other's feelings so there will be no romance at all if Do Jin was not dead.

fan tfr Sep 15 2023 9:50 am I don't know if there will be an s3 or not, but endings like that rarely create another season. From episode 8 of s2, it felt like the plot was pushed higher, the ending of s2 was really rushed, why was Dex abandoned? Because of being abandoned Dex hate life???? Why is Dex initially portrayed as a dangerous character, a genius but at the end of the movie he turns into an idiot??? Hogae's father was burned black but Hogae was unharmed, didn't Dex suspect that??? If I were Dex, I'd go down there and check out Hogae myself. Furthermore, I thought the slum fire had something to do with Dex so I had to leave that until the last episode. What surprised me was that this incident ended so simply.

Nope Sep 14 2023 6:46 pm It felt that they did a rushed ending or had edited out many parts about dex, the way they mentioned so many things about dex's past but never gave them out clearly was very strange, 2 things could have been done better, faking hogae death and giving complete background on dex , 2 more episodes building dex's background, why he became that way, why his family abandoned him etc etc and how he became this evilish should have been shown. And then he should have escaped and come back as major villain in season 3 who finally gets taken down and he should have a romantic angle too in season 3.

it's not fun seeing ma taehwa died so easily. i wish he survived that explosion and suffered for the rest of his life. what's the point of dragging his case since season 1 but killed him easily tho? i really think they rushed the ending.

some scenes from highlight and teaser were not shown. they didn't explained the backstory of dex. ma taehwa said, dex hold grudges with hogae. what is the reason? is dex really executed by the lethal injection? why they didn't show it after all of those screentime he got since he first appeared in episode 9? also, what's the point of giving a lot of screentime to seol and sejin when we can use those moment for hogae and seol? there a lot of things that are still not explained.

probably, the writer leave a possibility for season 3. however, if we do have season 3, i don't think the original cast will join because they seemed to say goodbye to their roles especially kim raewon and gong seungyeon.

TFR won't be the same without the original cast. hoping to see them again in 2023 sbs drama awards. i wanna hear their thoughts of season 3.

overall, it's such a roller coaster journey with TFR. we lost one of the main character, a lot of life and death situation. it's hard to say goodbye, so i'll just say let's meet again.

bella Sep 10 2023 12:07 pm i think it's a rushed ending... because there are some scenes in the highlight and teaser that is not shown yet. they don't even show us the flashback of how dex started his first murder. the ending is a prisoner escaped so it could be someone from the past season? the writer actually leave a possibility for season 3.

i miss taewon general hospital medical team. if there is season 3, pls bring them back. also, the military team seems quite unique if they are included in this drama for the upcoming season.

i love seeing every team handling each cases. this drama has a lot of potential. i'll patiently waiting for season 3 even though it might took years.

Somniaji Sep 10 2023 2:01 am SPOILERS! The most exciting review I want to write this week is about the end of The First Responders season two, which concluded with outstanding and amazing work. Even though Bong Dojin met an early demise in the second episode, the series continued to deliver compelling storytelling. I had a small prediction for a good ending, but I always kept in mind the early departure of Bong Dojin. Thankfully, as expected, Jin Hogae is safe – he's a real Jindo dog. Song Soel's character was brilliantly portrayed by Seungyeon. She knows how to make us feel her emotions in this drama. The same goes for Kim Raewon; he truly did an amazing job, and I hope he receives a Daesang award this year.

This is the most perfect ending that has ever existed in the world of dramas. I have tears of happiness. The romantic relationship in this season was light but sweet. They didn't say 'I love you,' but their affection for each other was clearly visible. Their ‘special related’ relationship concluded with a satisfying ending. Overall, it was a great watch, and I look forward to the writer's future works.

I do have one exception for another season: they must introduce new, evil, and brilliant villains, more menacing than Dex Kates from this season. Dex was a psychotic serial killer with no emotion in his tone, which made me really annoyed with his character. He successfully made me hate his character until the end.

The implant that Seol took out of his ear was a device that provided electric shocks while the one that was taken during the fake autopsy was a hearing aid, det Jin dont want to remove that because Dex would be notice. I think Dr Yoon and the whole autopsy team make a fake the autopsy to trick prof Han , Doha already know that Prof Han is Dex, with Jin's fake death they can trap Dex.

The phone call between the 2 NFS which wasn’t in detail but gives a feeling that they spoke about their plan 3. It didn’t show him on the roof immediately so NFS dude could have given jindog something 4. They didn’t show the autopsy scene where they opened him Up 5. They quickly covered and moved him so you don’t know if he’s actually dead. Could be a coma 6. They didn’t tell Seol because she would make it look real to Dex 7. Anna Bong is doing research and will help. 8. Jindog always saying he’s going to handcuff him

jessicaj Sep 08 2023 1:54 pm first: the chip was removed from hogae's ear, but during the autopsy it was still in his ear, was it to trick Dex that the chip had not been removed so that Dex would believe that the body was Hogae? Second: the autopsy was quite sketchy and Dex left soon after. The chance is slim, but I hope it's a perfect plot twist. There's no way the main cast died like that.

Im very sure Hogaye is safe because he is the only one can combine and solve the puzzles ,he is the witness who will catch the culprit sejin and the rest mobs, otherwise the police must investigate from zero again. This season will end in relief.

Phew Sep 02 2023 7:40 pm I am so irritated with ho gae for his unprofessional ways of doing investigations that i dont care if his character is removed. Like a situation which can be handled les violaently and quickly he always ends up making it more complex, violent and always puts his own life in useless danger and gets injured for bothing. Also seol seems like hasnt learnt her lesson from killing the school girl from season 1 when just over the phone she senselessly tells the guy in motel to press medicine button, it was so annoying. And i still can not believe she was never suspended for killing the student.

Dont even know the purpose of her character,she is only their to put bandages on male lead or other male chracters and sweet talk with all of them, even and when she is shown to do something she mostly does a mess up or does something super risky like cutting up that guys leg while burried underground in highly unhygeinic environment or killing the student or telling lawyer to press the button for iv.

Overall majority characters in this show are annoying and have become more annoying in s2. Like overzealous firefighters refusing to vacate a place just because their colleagues are stuck there.

Gong myung pil is the most annoying character this season, the way he is always jumping around like hogaes puppy, the way he is always ready to assault anyone who says anything negative on his fav people, the way he attacks kang do ha was just too much and on top of it hogae defending such behavior. Or how myungpil is throwing tantrums before nfs or other people.

I like s2 and case writings but writers should have made characters likeable too. I would be happy if they remove the overzealous myungpil.

The actress playing seol only shows 3 expressions, 1. Always opens her eyes wide like really wide 2. Constantly creases her forehead in every situation with opening her eyes wide, 3. Blinks non stop in any given span of her screentime. And when she says her dialogues she always talks in a lullaby tone, you are a paramedic and firefighter not a caregiver at a nursing home who should be talking in such soft tone, please talk in a normal way like other actors playing her colleagues do.

The show is good but about time writers either improve the characters or replace them with better characters.

The guy playing dex is actually very good and has a very good screen presence , despite being a villain i wouldnt mind him becoming the lead of the show.

Also i do feel fire station chief deserves punishment because her husband was clearly calling her to accident places and she knew he is suspicious but still she stays totally silent during investigations even when dojin dies and then heads to officitel and says in a lame way, it was you behind fire, like woman it was clear to you he is calling you to those places and you still kept quiet before police making a constipated face when they asked you each time and now you are realizing with genius mind that oh he is the arsonist.

I did see some trailers on YouTube that shows jindog in scenes that we haven’t seen yet. I hope they are not flashbacks. So that is good news. He could have escaped. We don’t know what happened before the explosion as Dex survived.

boringNerd Sep 02 2023 12:29 pm I agree with @Cate's comment. I used to watch Criminal MInds and NCIS for many seasons. Main characters got killed off or left the show not necessarily because of the writers, but because the actors/actresses want to leave the show.

The only reason I can think of for the writers to kill off Hogae is if they are planning for season 3, and Kim Rae Won wants to get off the show. But Hogae is the main character driving the show. Dojin's death already hit Seol hard. If Hogae died as well, I don't see the point in continuing the show with Seol. It will feel weird seeing Seol develops new relationship with new characters. Might as well kill the entire show after season 2, or write off Seol and start afresh with new characters if there is going to be a season 3.

Did the writer try to imitate american tv shows where they can write of the character whatever they want? American tv series pull it off due to numerous seasons and it had 24 eps each season, they pretty much build up the character so good and give proper send off for the character they write of.

This wont do for kdrama with only 12 eps for each season. And its only season2, if 2 of the main character turns out to be dead, this series is finish.

Even american tv series wont kill of their main character on season 2.

I’m soo attached to it But I didn’t like that Dojin died, just as I said they should not kill him off (because I started to suspect that, that’s how they were going to take him out of the love triangle between him, seol and hogae), they did exactly what I didn’t want. And since I was expecting it I wasn’t really shocked but it was sad. But I think the writer’s had no choice because of how strong the love Dojin had for Seol and it was very obvious that the romance they wanted to thrive was the one between Hogae and Seol

The prisoner mention Dex from Miami like some kind of big shoot who they call to do their dirty work (a hired assasin maybe).

And there is an american tv shows named "Dexter" its very famous, i also watch all the seasons. In this american series Dexter is an FBI forensic from Miami, but he also a serial killer. The series is practicly showed how he lives two lifes as an fbi forensic and serial killer. How he keep killing people, and show how smart he is to disguise his crime so that his identity as a serial killer remain unknown.

Thats why people keep saying the new NFS guy is Dex from Miami, considering all the resemblence with Dexter the american tv show.

People are noticing now that that drama focuses leas on first repsonders and more on police when it was the problem even in season,maybe it is bongs departure from the show that made poeple realize this.

This drama should have been titled joint investigation or detective hogae kind of thing as it is more about police. Hope for a 100pc based on fireighters drama justike doctors, detectives get their meaty roles.

First of all, why they have to kill one of the main lead at the starting of a new season? Dojin aka bulldozer and his partnership with other main leads in solving the puzzles is what makes this drama intriguing. If they really wanted to end this character they could have done it during season 1. and season 2 start afresh with other developments. or at least kill this character in the most cool and heroic way as Dojin's character was that much of a key role in this drama. Even this drama's korean title start with Sobangseo which is firestation! Instead of doing that, the writer made it like a suicide! Dojin could have escaped the dangerous situation multiple times. He knows that he wasn't wearing the firefighter gear properly. So, it could endangered his life. He can safe his life first before investigating the fire. And no one will just walk into the fire which is going to explode at any time, just to investigate the fire cause and not to save anybode. And he could have tell everyone to stay away from the fire by using his radio to convey the alert. and not by removing the candle one-by-one. So many plot holes! 2. if a firefighter lose his colleagues during the fire explosion and it was due to pre-planned fire to do redevelopment in that area, isn't it supposed to be taking revenge against the people involved only and not the other innocent people if you really wanted to avenge for your friends death? And most importantly he was having guilty feeling of not being able to save his friends and he was the one who asked them to go inside the rescue spot. So, technically, this person must have huge respect towards the firefighters and wanted to seek justice for his friends death. But, instead of that, he created so many incidents of fire, making the firefighters lives miserable with hectic saving spree, killing innocent people and even worst, framed his ex-wife to become the arsonist!

This drama is just getting ridiculous! It was fantastic in season 1 especially with some memorable cases, and the way the trio managed to solve it. So disappointed with this season and the writer.

But for seasons 2, i got shocked because they killed bulldozer which is i think its very stupid. They can create others critical situation without any dead from the leads line. Im totally lost interest to watching this drama and yes to make sure dojin is dead i just skip past week episode and yes dojin dead. So its ends for me because there have no trio anymore which is the reason i watch this show. Not because one of the lead but all the leads.

Writer should end season 1 for 16 episode and we can accept for two last episode dojin died. Not sooo suddenly on the earliest episode of season 2 which is viewers wait many month for watching and at the end this what we get.

it's hard to explain, but starting from episode 5, we will have parallel episode with season 1, choi yeseul's case. episode 6, cases after choi yeseul (pls refer season 1) and it will continue until episode 9 (my prediction).

if you wondered how i managed to understand this pattern, it's because of episode 1-4 of this season.

episode 1, S2 is a parallel to episode 1, S1. it's related to fire.

episode 2, S2 is a parallel to episode 2, S1. poison/suicide case. kim hyunseo is the victim in S1 while dojin is the victim in S2.

episode 3, S2 is a parallel to episode 3, S1. it's related to fire & arson. victim in S1 is the boyfriend while the one who started the fire is the girlfriend (refer season 1) while seol is the victim in S2 and the villain is the arsonist.

episode 4, S2 is actually the ending of season 1. however, the cases started at the end of the episode which will be more detailed in episode 5.

if you understand, then you can prepare your heart for upcoming episodes. i'm so worried with hogae because the history will repeat again...

And the ending of eps 4 seasin 2 (hogae leave the ceremony) feel more like season ending. I hate them for doing that to keep the rating. And they used son hojun as a main lead and promoted, but die in 2 episode. IF all of this happen in season 1 i'll be okay. They manipulate us, this what make ppl mad and feel betrayed. Its not about the fan actor. I am not a big fan of hojun but i feel mad.

Now yang sangman , so he has taken his ex wife to the rooftop of a 12 sonething story building and he is ordering hogae to save her and take her down in most casual way and that too when only 1 minute 30 seconds are left to explosion, is it possible for a person to run himself down such high building in just this much time alone let alone carrying someone to safety. Why every character in this drama including dojin are so stupid?

And if you have killed dojin then enough with his chapter but they keep bringing up sad stuff about him again and again, like every 10 minutes later something super sad about him will play, okay enough now , bring the show back on track.

i understand, a lot of people are mad because hojun died so early in this season. that's because season 1 should have 16 episodes instead of 12 episodes.

i'm upset with the fact that the writer, director and SBS dragged those 4 episodes for 8 months. 8 months is not a short time. they should just included those 4 episodes in season 1 before started new season.

1. Killing of bulldozer was not the move the writers should’ve taken. They could’ve just made him severely injured to just put out of being in the field and just work as what he was good at, and just be someone who analyzes fire scenes. 2. Why did the writers give bulldozer several times to be able to leave with little to no injuries, but kept him in there for pretty going on suicide quests? Bro could’ve left right after saving the kid. He didn’t need to investigate that star sign resulting in him falling and injuring himself. And even after he was injured, he still had enough time to get out after the candle discovery. 3. I also seen the trailer for the whole season and caught a glimpse of seeing jin dog’s corpse in the morgue. I honestly hope that is fake and just a weird nightmare or something. 4. After seeing bulldozer’s death, i’m really considering not watching the rest of the season. Because there were so many other routes they could’ve taken with bulldozer’s character and have him still alive atleast. 5. I have a feeling the ratings/viewership will tank after episode 3.

@nov i agree with your comment, son ho jun is appearing in a drama with jang nara and as his role was small in 1st season so he might have opted out, it happens actors join a cast with based on promising scripts but in final product their roles get cutdown,but instead of killing they should have injured him and then sent on a long vacation or something. If they made a spin off season of this show with dojin as main lead it would also have been famous as character was loved a lot by viewers. And frankly dojin's screentime in 2 episodes of s2 was greater than his entire screentime in s1, if he had stayed then his screentime would again have been little in s2 as well.

Just wish they wrap this arsonist case in ep 4 and then move onto new case fast now, tired of it now, i wonder whats up with the other ceo's plotline who is escaping jail. Had thought his case was over last season, who is the bad guy that he is scared of or he warned hogae about.

When seol and team were reenacting the fire and seol imagines dojin inside fire and taking off mask, she says you could have come out but you didnt just to protect evidence, didnt understand this bit. So was dojin while standng inside that fire was still able to come out of fire? Was there no other method for him to save the candle while running out of the fire? Cpukdnt he eat it and vomit it out later? Then she also says if he hadnt extinguished the candles he couldnt have saved lives? How did he save lives? Why those firefighters were jumping straight into that area without water hose knowing the fire is big even if another explosion hadnt triggered. Really didnt understand how dojin saved more lives.

Then back to dojin saving himself, why was saving that evidence so important for him that he gave his life for those stupidass candles?

Not only dojin but all firefighters were working unprofessionally specially dojin. His death only hurt as an actor was removed but for the character he wasnt killed, he killed himself. He was unprofessional to walk straight into that fire. Then when he could still escape he ate those candles and sat there to save some evidence, which is so dumb when he could have come out, told his colleagues about what he saw and could have found methods to track him down, like just to track down a psychopathic arsonjst he kills himself when he could have walked out alive saved 100s of lives in future in fire accidents and using eamwork could have tracked down the culprit instead of just binge eating candles and died. None of the excuses provided by writers are making any sense. Just as seol said he could have come out, doing that he could have told them the setup, its not that dojin thought candles had a dna left on them and naturally he couldnt have known that using one specific candle components you can track down the makers because it was nfs who knows that and how did he know the contents in his stomach would still be in good condition tk be used as some evidence.

Very poor writing even if they had to remove his character they could have done something else.

hanna Aug 11 2023 6:13 pm as a writer, i do not support TFR season 2. it's so messy and complicated. we still have 9 episodes left but a lof of things already happened in just 3 episodes. the writer is using the wrong technique of writing. she should balanced the story, but she keep putting a lot of conflicts and problems. then she dragged and repeating them. i can see a pattern and already guessed what will happen in upcoming episodes.

TFR season 1 is more fun because the writer is balancing the story and we had a lot of different cases.

i'm sorry to say this, but the writer make a big mistake this time. she ruined this season.

what make it even worse, hogae is the one who gave dojin's ring to seol. This Is Unacceptable. hogae already went through a lot since season 1.

melody Aug 10 2023 6:55 pm it's possible for dojin to lie in a coma or die early because in stranger / secret forest 2, seo dongjae is one of the main character... but he got kidnapped in episode 2 and appeared in episode 14 or 15 if i'm not mistaken. it's like he is a special cameo when he is included in the main character cast.

in dojin's case, i'm sure the writer already gave a lot of hint in earlier episodes. dojin always said, he will be the one who enter first and the last one going out. that's the main point.

however, dojin hasn't meet doha yet. dojin also promised to catch the arsonist. i don't think the writer will kill dojin after all the effort and promises.

remember, in season 1, they tricked us A Lot.

Dojin has veeeeeeery little screentime in all of the trailers/previews ..... :( Either he really bit the dust in S2/Ep2 or they did this on purpose to confuse the viewers. Otherwise everyone would be like "Nah, I saw him alive and well in the trailers". Just like it is the case for Seol.

we should wait and see because i don't think the writer will kill the main character so early (dojin) and for hogae... i think if he die, that's because for season 3, we will have new detective just like the drama Voice.

i hope the writer won't drag the love triangle and solve them quickly.

Just continuing on the topic, I saw an extended trailer on YouTube under an Indonesian account. It had scenes which appear much later but with showing so much, there wasn’t a single scene with bulldozer in it. And there’s a scene where it shows the crew walking together, and he isn’t there. You see seol and the detective of course. So anyone who wanted to know about seol, don’t worry she’s alive. The autopsy lady cried at the table and said sorry I’m the trailer, she did a fetus before and she didn’t even bat an eye but she’s crying saying sorry because it’s him. Also, the scene where he runs with his fire fighting uniform to the hospital and seol wakes up it’s a dream I think. He can’t just put a ring on her finger and she’s like yeah okay. It’s a dream. I think we’ll see more of what happened. But I am so annoyed because they should have finished his story with this childhood friend and then send him off nicely. At the same time I am mad at him for going into the fire knowing what can happen. Anyways guys you can check out the YouTube video because im sure my hypothesis is somewhat correct.
