A story of a boys' badminton team at a middle school in Haenam as they compete in a junior athletic competition. The 16 year old boys and girls in Haenam grow as people during this time.

Yoon Hyeon-Jong (Kim Sang-Kyung) was once the best badminton player and he now takes the coach job of a boys' badminton team at a middle school in Haenam. The badminton team is on the verge of being disbanded. The players on the team are Yoon Hae-Kang (Tang Joon-Sang), Bang Yoon-Dam (Son Sang-Yeon), Na Woo-Chan (Choi Hyun-Wook) and Lee Yong-Tae (Kim Kang-Hoon). The players are not very good yet.

Meanwhile, Ra Yeong-Ja (Oh Na-Ra) is the coach of the girls’ badminton team at a different middle school in Haenam. Her badminton team ranks #1 among their peers.

Notes

"Racket Boys" takes over the SBS Monday & Tuesday 22:00 time slot previously occupied by "Joseon Exorcist" and followed by "Lovers of the Red Sky" on August 30, 2021.
Ep.13-16 will air once per week on Mondays, with ep.13 airing Monday, July 12, 2021 and ep.14 airing Monday July 19, 2021. The change from 2 episodes per week to 1 episode per week for the final 4 episodes is due to the rise of Covid-19 and airing of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Ep. 16, which was originally scheduled to air Monday, August 2, 2021, will air Monday, August 9, 2021. The delay is due to broadcasting of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

ohlala Jul 16 2022 5:44 am I nearly skipped this drama because of the ratings here and Im Glad I Watched It. If you like the reply 1988 and prison playbook vibe, you should go watch this one. I honestly find this way better than the friendship in twenty-five twenty one. What I love about this drama is that in includes not just friendship in sports but the whole village (reminds me of hometown chachacha) helping each other to get the 'racket boys' achieve success. It's a really feel good drama that we are still rewatching now and then. Rating Should Be 100% ! :) PS. for the other review that says they just get together and are in their phones.. well that's the reality and what kids/adults do nowadays as their pasttime right? What you should see is how the younger generation depicted here trying to help the older ones and vice versa.

I think they spent more time holding their phones, playing computer games and asking for wifi or data. And you call that friendship? I have high expectations because I thought this was a sports theme drama but the plot was terrible. It's all over the place. They desperately trying to push their so-called "friendship" to the viewers but I can't feel anything at all. No camaraderie. No bond. The most terrible thing about this drama is the Male lead. There's nothing likable about him. No motivation, No good traits, nothing at all. Atleast make the viewers cheer for him or something.

Lala Feb 12 2022 11:06 pm I've watched this drama since May 31 2021 until the last airing of episode which is August. I remember it caught my attention on the upcoming section of Netflix which shows the trailer. The trailer caught my attention as I see it will be comedy so I waited for it. I did not regret waiting for it's episode weekly. It became my comfort drama during my slump season. I really love the haenam badminton squad. I also cried and laughed each and every episode as there are certain scenarios from the drama that I can really relate (I mean it's not that a heavy drama, it's a light one buy yk it's theme and plot revolves about youth and family which U can really relate with and as I've said I watched it during those slump days maybe I'm just being emotional that's why I cried? lmao). There were some controversy arouse and I can't deny that however I still cannot also deny the fact that it was a good drama. This drama really saved me and I thank the casts, production and staff for that. I have re-watched this drama for countless times already. To the actors and actresses goodluck to your upcoming series all are a promising actors.

!!!!!!! to everyone asking why the rating is "poor", it's because indo fans are mad about one episode (when seyoon was competing in an international competition held in indonesia) when they were portrayed as being "rude", so indo fans are really out here giving this drama a very low rating in every kdrama sites lmao (also check how they attacked every racket boys posts on sbs drama's instagram account) lol idk about this but this won't tarnish how good and well written this drama is!!

terry Dec 02 2021 4:03 pm Just finished the series and am really confused by the 49% rating. I gave it 99% personally. I am really critical of Kdramas and often find that the lead female just don't have any spark because they always fall into the shy, klutzy, poor girl who somehow bags the rich, competent, handsome guy. This definitely wasn't that. I also don't watch young adult Kdramas because they aren't relatable or fascinating, but everyone kept raving about Racket Boys so I had to watch it. So glad I did. Racket Boys is one of the most enjoyable series that I watched this year. From the first episode until the last, riveting. I continued to root for the kids and even the townspeople. It's no surprise that one of the other series was Move to Heaven starring Hae-Kang also. I've already watched that series 3 times and probably will watch Racket Boys just as often. (My other favorite series was Taxi Driver, starring the adult lead of Move to Heaven.) I loved all the characters of the Badminton teams, male and female. And I like the adults. Every character was well done and understandable. Everyone was funny when they needed to be. I found the product placement and how they dealt with the occurrences funny also so they weren't as aggravating as usual in Kdramas. It was just an all-around great series and I give it two thumbs and two big toes up.

I am thankful that this drama existed, they never know that this drama can heal other people and gives motivation. Everytime I am having a hard time, I'll think of this drama, idk it just gives that kind of vibe that can help me calm whenever my anxiety attack. The scenery of the drama, the countryside aaaa it's so beautiful. Also the boys, I miss them being together huhu, Hoping For Season 2!

at first, i just watch this series because i just finish watching move to heaven and i cant get enough with tang joon-sang's acting skills. but eventually, i dont why i became so invested with this drama. its so warm and very fun. i already miss the village people and my boys!! i hope there's a season 2 :((

The relationships between the characters from their families, their team and the village were so adorable. Like most of the characters had a development throughout and this was just overall a nice slice of life type of drama. I recommenddd. Really love the cameo’s by many hahahahahah. And ofc, the prison playbook characters, that was another great drama not surprised since it was written by the same person lol. The pacing went smoothly throughout the episodes except for ep 16 where it kind of felt rushed and I wanted it to be longer lol. Honestly just a whole ass good, positive vibe with some inspirational moments. No villains and really realistic. Watch ittt peepsss hahah

insol Sep 06 2021 12:47 pm Racket boys is one of my favorite healing kdrama. My favorite episode was ep 12 because it made me cry buckets. I have no hates in this drama. The only thing I will complain about it is the lack of screentime and script for Insol. I don't know if im being biased but I felt like he deserved more screentime. Its because I loved him in true beauty. Anyways, this drama didn't disappoint me because it was a very good drama. I am hoping for a season 2. Racket sonyeondan, fighting!!!

There were so many cheesy scenes that did not make me cringe (maybe because Im already expecting it lol) which is good. Im also happy with all the Prison Playbook cameos hahaha. It was nice to see everyone's relationship change because of different situations. Every episode you'd realize some things which makes this a really good slice of life drama. No villains, only personal issues around you that these characters got through. Every episode's issue and lesson were really heartwarming and it really had an impact on me

Acting was also amazing, it was extra in some scenes, but appropriate. I also want to commend Tang Joon Sang for his amazing performance. Who would've thought that Yoon Haekang is played by the same actor who played Han Geuru in Move to Heaven. Yoon Haekang's subtle emotions were brought to life by TJS. The details were amazing and we'd easily see Haekang's thoughts, this was really evident whenever it's about his dad.

Kiki Aug 12 2021 1:27 pm Racket boys is by far one of the best kdramas I’ve ever watched. It’s a perfect mix of sport, friendship, love and family. The humour and comedic timing was just perfect and the kids were absolutely brilliant in portraying their roles. Of course, the friendship between the boys was great to watch but I love how the drama also focused on the friendship between the two girls, Han Se Yoon and Lee Han Sol. Dramas usually focus on bromance a lot of the time and it’s not often you see strong female friendships.

Overall, this was a solid drama with stellar performances from the whole cast. The coaches, villagers and all the other characters also brought so much to the storyline. I literally binged watch this all in a few days as I couldn’t get enough of it. If you haven’t seen this drama yet... you need to start it right now!!!

This is after watching all 16 eps. It is s complete combo of comedy (100% ?), friendship, passion, family, love, romance, caring neighborhood. This drama gives me vibe of reply 1988. Almost every episodes made me laugh like crazy n when they say RACKET.. SoÑYonGdaåN ? also there are very touching scenes which made me cry n moved. I'm definitely gonna rewatch this again lol. It's nothing to with reviews coz I watched with empty mind n I don't regret it. It's beyond my expectations and teen fun therapy. You can give it a try without any hesitation n I bet it won't let you down. I can say that this is the best drama of 2021 after Vincenzo!

I wish it didn't end...and I sincerely hope there's a season 2. All the actors did great and I esp loved all the kids. They perfectly portrayed the joys of friendship, the innocence and excitement of first love, and the physicality of being athletes. The badminton scenes were great, you'd think they're real games played by real players. In true Jung Bo Hoon fashion, you'll be crying one moment and laughing your ass off the next. What a gem of a drama!

Hope, change, character development are possible at any age with family & friendships to support you. The concept of “family” is thankfully broadly defined & understood here. The screenwriter is artfully inclusive of any subject matter…there are no taboos…nor divides between urban vs country living. This is an ensemble group of really fine actors who we will enjoy in many other dramas in years to come. Terrific pace of the episodes. This is yet another drama I will watch over & over. The lower ratings are an anomaly at the moment…the public will catch up with this quality production!

Yes some part are not as exciting but overall its entertaining and deserve a recognition. At the begining it feels like im watching capt tsusaba or slamdunk, but unfortunately the main focus on this drma is not the sport. But i dont mind because the story is interestung and the characters are lovable. Thats why i think this drama is a great potential to be a comic or anime. Imagine reading or watching the whole match of badminton, i definately will purcahse the comic for sure. I really hope they will make season 2 and more focus on the badminton storyline. Overall i think its a good drama, and i just hope a lots of drama have this light and motivating story like this.

If you're tired watching Melodrama, or romance that has predictable twists, you should give this a try. It's like you're home and back to when you're a teen while watching this. All the main characters are almost new and creating their names to stardom. The OST is also great!!! The Boyz nailed it and it really matches the show.

Nevertheless, I really love stories about brotherhood and family. So definitely worth watching, but I just want to see Yoondam and Hansol's characters to develop and not just as mere sidekicks and filler love story. :)

I should watch it! :D and I am familiar with many characters here, usually we just see them as young roles or just supporting character, I love how the kids are the center of the story! :D Tang Jung Sang (Move to Heaven), Kim Kang Hoon (Mouse), Lee Ji Woon (The Uncanny Counter), Kim Min Ki (Jukyung bro in True Beauty), Choi Hyun Wook (the bully boy in Taxi driver), Lee Jain (on screen kids of Ji Jin Hee just like Tang Jung Sang XD )
