When Prince Lee Bang-Won of Joseon patrolled the northern region, he faced an evil spirit which wanted to dominate human beings. Prince Lee Bang-Won was able to seal away the evil spirt.

Now, Lee Bang-Won has ascended to the throne and has taken the title of King Taejong (Kam Woo-Sung). He is cool-headed, but a powerful king. King Taejong is proud of the fact that he helped his father establish the Joseon dynasty. He also feels heavy guilt from killing so many people during the founding of Joseon. The evil spirit which King Taejong sealed away in the past resurrects itself on the land of Joseon. To seal the evil spirit away, King Taejong must again fight the evil spirit.

Meanwhile, King Taejong has sons Crown Prince Yangnyeong (Park Sung-Hoon) and Prince Chungnyeong (Jang Dong-Yoon). Prince Chungnyeong’s only interest is to learn academics. He suddenly faces a crisis caused by the evil spirit. To protect the people of Joseon, Prince Chungnyeong jumps into the war against the evil spirt.

Crown Prince Yangnyeong seems full of confidence. He actually lives with chronic anxiety over whether he will be recognized by his father King Taejong. He tries to be recognized by his father, but his actions never seem good enough. Nevertheless, King Taejong has a strong desire to have his first son Crown Prince Yangnyeong become the next king. Greed then consumes Crown Prince Yangnyeong to enter into a contract with the evil spirit.

I hope the drama will continue for international audiences. after all drama is an art. is not a documentation event. a fiction. hopefully it can still be broadcast.

when I watch, the zombies appeared from the grasslands in episode 2 ... it really gave me goosebumps ... so cool ...

But I can understand why there is a lot of anger from Koreans because of the many controversies in this series. As a non-Korean, I finally understood that there was a scene about food dishes in the first episode which turned out to be not Korean culture but Chinese culture. And the figure of King Taejong is truly the original figure of one of the respected kings in Korea. Maybe for people outside Korea this is too much, they say it's a fantasy. Please respect the Korean people who do not let one of their respected kings portrayed in this series not as expected. I fell in love with this series, can it be revised and re-published?

the undead does not like zombie. there is a scene where the undead on the wall but does not kill Eo-Ri. if it zombie, it will jump and kill immediately.

there is king demon main body, but sealed. and I don't understand why the king need the main body if it can possessing human. well for me right now , the king demon looks like The Undead's King on Games of Thrones.

mikki Mar 24 2021 9:01 am i had sooo much hope and hype for this drama, i was so excited when i first saw the teaser and trailer and that the director said this was "going to be different from the rest" but sadly it sucks

the actors mainly the king and the prince's are amazing actors

the foreign guy who plays the priest is a horrible actor cringy at that too! he must be new. they should've hired a different one. when he says those foreign dialogue it sounds toooo fake like an american trying to read a different language.

the extra actors for example the lumberjack guy from ep 2 was horrible at acting. there are tons of actors that are not as popular but can be good actors even if its a 3 minute part or extra part.

some of the voice overs doesnt sound good, its obvious that theyre reading off something. they should also act with their voice when theyre doing voice overs.

so demons? or zombies? do they eat them or just bite them? i dont understand, its not really clear?

the one positive thing i see is the cinematography and visuals are good except the CGI when they showed the demon on the bronze shield it looks stupid and so fake and like cartoonish, everything turns to waste when the shitty plot becomes shittier.

the plot is too messy in a way that wait why is that there, and is that neccesary to the storyline? too much characters who are not really needed.

the comedy is extremely out of place, im just wondering why is that there?

on ep 2 when that guy was stabbing the girl laying down, she was getting stabbed sooo many times yet no splash of blood? and the shot of the camera was close enough to see her face and upper body where she was getting stabbed? im like huh?

also as an audience you can see that the characters mainly the 2 princes are doing stupid things, the older prince is just stupid and the 2nd son is totally a pushover being dragged around by other not important characters. so its a bit hard to like or get an attachment to their characters when you get annoyed how stupid they are? this is the writers fault.

also one of the sponsors of the show dropped out just recently you can search it up online.

ill give it 2 more episodes before i just move on. sorry if this is too critical. its just cause im a fan of the 3 main actors and this drama is NOT it!

im gonna wait for that other horror drama called "DARK HOLE" you guys could check that one out too, the teaser.

But due to his feeling being always fall short to expectation, he sign a contract with the devil. His father is definitely going to be disappointed of him. But he will save his son.

True Mar 23 2021 11:22 am To all those shouting the similarities with kingdom , let me inform you something there was a movie based on same genre of zombies in ancient Korea known as rampant (2018)....so should I call kingdom copy of this movie ...no right ..it is just a concept like vampire , romantic comedy ...director can play with these concept and put their creativity to create something .new ....the first episode is promising and acting vise is also good especially the actor who has played the king ...though I don't like comedic incident with the Marco instead he is irritating and annoying...the makers ha combined the concept of devil with zombie which I think is interesting if story is good and one more thing I don't know why villian female character has to be sexualised Or has some grey shades to it ...can't I see so e good female character with grey shades of more human rather than being dumb or too good to be true or some sort female fatale

sun Feb 21 2021 4:03 am @fae in my opinion it depends on the level of possession by the evil spirits. some temporarily possess while others intend to occupy the human body forever (this is the dangerous part). Also, shamanism alone probably won’t be enough to destroy the evil spirits, maybe they have to kill the possessed body then perform ritual to seal the spirits and bury them. in modern world, exorcist will try their best to let the possessed body to be freed and alive but in Joseon era, killing probably won’t be a big deal hahaha correct me if I’m wrong though

So if this is not zombies but rather evil spirits who possess the Joseon’s subjects bodies but manifest in the usual form of a zombie’s characteristics— then the prince and king proceed to kill them in attempt to stop them, then they are not fighting the evil spirit but rather killing their own people? (since the people are still alive but are just possessed) or the one’s that are possessed are already dead? Can someone clear this up for me?

There are so many concepts that are promoted in tv series, movies, books etc. If a series it's about love does it mean that it's copying another who has romance? If a series has a blind protagonist does it make it a copy of the others that are the same? There isn't something that is 100% original. Every story must start somewhere. This drama has evil spirits, not Zombies like Kingdom in case you can't read. If you're that good just become a writer and show us something fresh and unique, something never seen or heard before.

As for the premise of the drama I'm very interested in watching the 1st episode when it's released. I like the actors and I'm curious about it.

I have watched rampant too since I tried to mix up the story but please produce more Zombie Hordes Invade Ancient Korea dramas. I mean, with the possibility of having real-life zombies we (kind of)need these lol. Since we only have access to a sword-like-weapon(kitchen knife) to fend for ourselves. Might as well watch a drama that utilizes a long-bladed knife (sword).
