Kang Pil-Sung (Song Sae-Byeok) works as a detective. His instincts as a detective are excellent and he is foul-mouthed. Kang Pil-Sung is both lazy and rough, but he is also soft hearted.

Hong Seo-Jung (Koh Joon-Hee) has excellent psychic mediumship, but she tries to hide her ability. This causes Hong Seo-Jung to keep a distance from other people and she lives a lonely life.

While Kang Pil-Sung investigates a case, he happens to meet Hong Seo-Jung. Kang Pil-Sung feels that she is different from others and takes an interest in her. They begin to solve cases together using their special abilities.

The few first episodes was going well with good writing but it comes nonsense after that. An overpowering evil - and yet the committed Ukrainians resist - against overwhelming odds. I don't see a happy ending there either - but every once in a while - you see a bit of humanity - and hope.

Dahlia Mar 09 2022 3:00 pm Ugh, so frustrated that I wasted hours of my life on this show. I'm definitely not the type to obsess about happy endings but it literally felt like the writer set out with the goal to piss me off about half way through the story. Randomly killing pretty much the entire cast for shock value isn't deep and it isn't good writing. It's just a cop out for shock value. The inability of the characters to find a way to fight against the villain and his ridiculously overpowered abilities was all so contrived. You know what? I'm done wasting even more time writing about this. Do yourselves a favor and don't bother watching. Too bad for the actors who admittedly did a great job.

I remember he was not afraid of Seo Jong and when he was angry he could see Hwang Dae Du life just with an eye contact. That moment I believed that the chosen one was him instead of Seo Jong. I really believed that. His instinct, his pure soul his sixth sense everything pointed to him.

AraNadea Nov 23 2021 3:35 am I forgot to highlight about their 6th sense abilities which was not explored more in the drama. It re.ds me during the early episode when does not felt afraid while looking into Seo Jong eyes. I really thought that Pil Seong was the chosen i e instead of Seo Jong. Seo Jong even turn into a Shaman. Which was absolutely useless. I thought she would teamed up with Pil Seung and do some sort of magic. The only thing that was consistent is Hwang Dae Du being easily distracted. From serial killer to drug lord back at killing the same name as his previous victims distracted again, dated a girl, selling firearms, killing rampage.

AraNadea Nov 23 2021 3:13 am It started good and went downhill later on. There was no character development. Pil Seung gave up was the main reason the story went bad. I understood that life is hard and somehow we have to sacrifice. But all the killings are solely made by Hwang Dae Du because he is a psychopath to begin with, and an evil spirit after he died. Pil Seung is an excuse Hwang Dae Du made to himself. Hwang De Du killing people is just as normal when he was alive. And why the heck they would believe his promise? Long story short, it was poorly written. It could have ended Chief Yu not killing himself, teamup with Det. Choe and didn't ambush Hwang in the office. Everybody desperately seeking for answer and justice meet Pil Seung and Seo Jong explaining the situation. Pil Seung realize they still have hope. Seo Jong extracting Hwang Dae Du into pil Seung body, jumping off into the sea. Dumping the host body into the sea and everybody come up with a story that pil Seung died while fighting the culprit. One year later, Seo Jong are seen at the shrine during winter. A man approach and says the exact same line Seo Jong had said before. The end.

P/s: Life is hard, but it ain't ridiculous as it potrays in the drama.

fikan Jul 24 2021 9:14 am this drama has different style, it is an art that have so much message, it's story about life and after life, it feel so cruel because all the awful thing that hapen in the real world represented in 16 episode, the man shoot some people in cafe, bullying on school, a father kill his own child, a husband kill his wife, a mother kill her self and left her kid, drugs, prostitution, fraud, betrayal etc. that all the dark side of this life. that all hapen in real life, when we watch this drama in the same time in the other part of this world, all of the awful thing is hapen.

This drama trying to make you see this life with the other prespective.

And one thing thats very important, The Things That You Can't See, Doesn't Mean It Doesn't Exist

Rider Jul 16 2021 12:11 pm Ok. I get it. Some people didn't like it because it wasn't your typical Kdrama. But the themes were all too real. I think some viewers have never been in a situation where you had to make a life or death choice against an unbeatable foe. That morning on Tiannamen Square - I eventually ran. - there was no way I was going to win. But some stayed to the very end. That - to me - reminded me of the tango dancer - one of the few survivors of this drama - who kept saying - you have to know your soul. She was so funny, but it was so true. If you know your soul, you can commit - in many other hot spots I did commit - guess my soul wanted to know the end. The plot was as clear as day. There were some light moments which some thought out of place. But I can tell you - when death was all around me - those little bits of humanity - really stood out and gave me hope. Just like the ending of this drama.

I'm sorry but as much as I liked the acting and interaction between the leads and the rest of the "good guys", the bad guy was just indestructible. It was like a drawn out bullying trip - the evil, powerful bully versus the hapless humans. It left me feeling frustrated and angry. I skipped the parts that involved the bad guy coz his scenes were prolonged and irritating, like sand in your shoe.

They kinda wanted to "redeem" the bad guy with that heart-to-heart in church, but nah...

She was decent in untouchables bc she mostly just had to sit there quietly looking miserable with RBF and she did that well. But her acting is so bad. Spoiler Alert ⚠ What a kind blasting kdrama. Possibly first time I've encountered one which didn't go down the typical route of a 'happy ending'. Quite fresh in that aspect but definitely sad (I'm terms of the story, episode 14 onwards). Couldn't really believe when they killed off basically the entire main cast.. ? I didn't really see anything wrong or nonsensical about it the show, I mean ffs there are so many weird ones out there (Abyss anyone?). Hwang Dae Du was an incredibly psychotic antagonist but I did love the main duo of Seo Jeong and Pil Seong. And laud the director for not casting a typical pretty boy! All in all despite the sad ending its one of the shows which I'll always remember.

From how bad the writing was, to how bad the ending was, to how weak and disgusting kang pil seong became.

I don't recommend this to anyone at all, unless you watch the first couple episodes and quit.

Would have been more effective with better use of shamanism and less pulp- fiction knock offs and ghostbuster silliness like flamenco dancer and fake psychic gigalow. Had potential but blew it.

Jason Jan 18 2021 6:35 pm SPOILERS. Honestly I found this to be a really interesting show to watch. I admit that things did get confusing in the middle not knowing what was going on. Who is doing what? Who has what souls and powers? And just overall weirdness of not making sense. However I love the fact that you have these 2 amazing leads that are completely opposite to each other. The weird humorous moments add to the light-hearted moments. The dark gritty almost overwhelming tragedy was crazy. I applaud the writers for taking the risk and not going with the typical happy ending everyone makes it out alive good defeats evil route (even though thays what most people want). Its overused and not as realistic either. Sometimes the dark wins the battle. But not the war. And I mean we're talking bout spirits and afterlife and next lives and so forth. It was interesting to watch... I would've liked to have a happier ending but the darkness of killing off almost every single main character was mind blowing (i was like noooo... did they?.... no way... omg yes they just did that) and that was amazing. Certain scenes could've been made more realistic eg the nuns who were killed literally had no blood around them? Were the really dead? I dunno... I am curious to see how season 2 will play out. For now. A job well done.

SPOILERS - But an interesting story needs more push-and-pull struggle. It's not interesting to watch a one-sided beat-down. The fact that the main characters just totally gave up on trying and let everything be slowly taken away from them is what really killed me. And again the motives just didn't make sense. Like, why tf was Hwang dae du so obsessed with Pil Sung? I know they kind of explain it away in the last ep but come on that was some BS. And anyways why would anyone think Hwang dae du would stick to his word and stop killing after Seo Jung dies, like several times he goes back on his word throughout the show, his promises mean nothing. Watching the main characters cry uselessly and completely submit to the villain throughout the last few episodes was honestly boring yet infuriating to watch.

SPOILERS - Last few episodes the main characters don't even try to fight back, they just watched everyone slowly get picked off by the villain. The villain's motive at the end didn't make any sense. Literally everybody dies, and yet I didn't shed one tear, because it was just SO nonsensical by that point.

Not gonna lie they caught me right at the beginning, they had me bawling at the last 5 episodes. The ending of self sacrifice is not everyone’s cup of tea but it makes sense. He had nothing to live for anymore, his colleagues who he treated as family had no choice but to kill themselves only to fail to save the one they love, to kill his most beloved with his own hands. The thought of hope in the tip of the fingers for the characters was taken by the villain and he crushed it to a point where they gave up. Of course, it’s not as satisfying as every other Korean Drama but this wasn’t the first one. It showed reality. It showed that no matter how hopeful everything can be, sometimes those who seems strong are driven to a point of no return. It shows that reality is not always gonna be what it may be. The potential of what to become, that’s what hurt me most. I felt so much hatred towards the villain, which is why I think the writers did a fantastic job writing him up.

Feedback, would have been nice if there was a better way to show the gun shots properly. I know that there may be censorship issues but at least to have some blood splattering towards the location of the view. Similarly to the first few episodes, working with melee weapons can cause blood splatters but so does guns. There will be a lot of jerking and more pain. But nonetheless, everyone did amazing.

Most of the characters died at the end. Some of the action is not real. Well after being shot, in reality the victims are in pain not straightly die not portrayed properly in the drama. Well I'm disappointed.

Fae Sep 01 2020 8:45 am Holy Mother. What a show. I started this after watching some other gritty crime k-dramas because well I guess for the moment I have a "flavor" that I'm enjoying, and boy does it start off strong. The first few minutes will either hook you or make you turn it off. Initially I was intrigued because the lead isn't your average drama pretty-boy. He comes across as just an average joe that doesn't really want to get caught up in all this mess. Watching the interactions between the two leads is amusing, because from first glance they could not be more different. This show is not nearly what you think it will be, because it switches from dark gritty almost horror to lighthearted romantic comedy at a pace that will give you whiplash, but this pace (as weird as it is) makes the characters appear more human. It shows that no matter the horrors in the world, or the horrors they may face, they still find moments of peace and joy - which I think in today's world that's more important than ever. It is a very forlorn story though. Through the course of 16 episodes you feel for these people struggling against something that seems unbeatable, and a lot of it is just heartbreaking to watch. For folks saying that it's not a good show, or that it doesn't have good writing, or that the lead isn't a good lead - well... this just wasn't your cup of tea. For what it is - it's amazing. It's a taunt thriller with brief glimpses of sunshine through the darkness.

AAA Aug 21 2020 10:41 am Okay this show is bonkers. First few episodes, it's a detective/serial killer drama sprinkled with some love comedy. From basically ep 12 onwards, it's a very dark and emotionally heavy tragedy. It is one of if not the darkest kdrama I have seen. It's not even a bittersweet ending, it's more like a sad tragic ending. I recommend not getting too attached to any of the characters because it is a serious gut punch by the end. The villain is incredibly well fleshed out, but by the end his motivations become...confusing? Also there are some seriously strange and jarring tonal shifts that occur during this drama that feel out of place, especially towards ep 13. By the end, the story also feels rushed (things start happening one after another really quickly and there are things suddenly added to the plot that seem to come out of nowhere). This is definitely not your typically cliche detective kdrama, though, and I applaud the writers for taking the risk and making a darker drama (although I'm not sure if they did that just for shock value or not - either way my point still stands). It's a decent drama and has a pretty interesting concept if you're willing to handle the tragic outcome.

If you’re looking for a horror-thriller-comedy-romance—all in one, this is your answer. It deserves to be at Netflix. For those who said that the story is senseless. Excuse me, this is a drama with fictional incidents, characters, places, etc. Those kind of things are reasonable to be seen, it’s fair enough. Not a big deal. In addition, it also have its comedic vibes, so it’s easy and funny to watch.

H Jun 19 2020 10:25 pm Let's get it straight at the 1st set of episodes (1-5). Its fun to watch and really funny. But until I've watched the entire episode its really sucks!. I mean the lead roles cant even win in any single fight. They've always loss. And all of the supporting characters are died with the main leads. And every episode is so slow, i mean even on driving they Eto nmn nsa loob ako ng bedroom. Pero pagpalabas na ko ung arrow sa kitchen lng nakaturo. Pero my isang door pa ehshoot it for all most 5mins before it took on the next scene. Tss. I think i wasted my time watching this really. The script writer should have more experience on doing a series. I will advise u guys to watch something else.

Piripiri May 07 2020 9:42 am I was looking for a series that could keep me from binge-watching from the start to the end. I ended up on this series and I gave it a try despite bad comments I read on here. The first episode's entrance was really good, thrilling, and emotionally fascinating, I said okay this was good. Then the protagonist had come into the scene, well the girl is too boring the guy is too ordinary but the supporting characters are great. I keep going until I realized that the flow of the story is quite slow, boring, and dull. I never finished episode one. The comments here are true. OCN should keep the level of intensity and thrill of their crime series just like Save Me, the guest, the priest, and many more.

K Apr 18 2020 6:41 am Honestly don‘t understand the hate for this drama. The chemistry between the main actors were insane. I watch this drama in 2 days and was never once bored. And the person who only watched 4 Kdrama‘s and make a lengthy unnecessary review. I‘ve been watching Kdrama‘s since 2006 and I don‘t think you know how dating in Kdrama‘s is potrayed and you seemed to interpret too much into a written Story which doesn‘t show how reality is like.

Rider Feb 29 2020 3:29 pm I am currently watching "The Cursed", and I am falling asleep - the characters are not interesting, there's no character development. The plot has no sense of dread or horror. There is no build up of tension, then release - that makes you feel you're on a roller coaster ride. Visually, the scenes are bland. So, it's been a year - I thought I'd revisit "Possessed". And on second visit, I can see this was really well done - the ensemble and acting - you really feel for them - I even like the the evil ones. The videography was excellent. The director moved us along at a good pace - revealing both evolving and growing sides of good and evil. And - SPOILER ALERT - the writer really tells us how this series was going to end by episode 7. The ending was tragic - but there was no other path - that would have been a serious cop out. Some people thought the ending with the two kids was a cop out. I was also thinking that - but now that I've seen it a second time - I realized that innocent scene could not have happened if the main protagonists had not made their difficult choices - the world would have been destroyed. So I am not surprised to see that it is on Netflix - it is well crafted. And the OST is great too.

The Evil in this story is probably more real than we care to admit...It is disturbing in its attempt for realism... I look at it as a warning that when face with a threat, everyone has a different way of dealing with it ... It comes as a shock to face the fear and anger it provokes in us when love one is threatened... I for one is afraid of my capabilities when threatened.... My Family is Life, it will always be...

I loved this series, and I was captivated by all the characters. However, once the chief, and the entire little family of cops died I felt too much emotional baggage. Then after going to the island Seo-Jong still dies anyway after Pil-Sung almost murders a little girl.

Evil is only defeated after everything and everyone has been taken from Pil-Sung. There is an epilogue that shows the two lovers meeting again in another life as children, but I honestly found it a cop out. I, probably most of the audience, wanted to see them be together as themselves now. I know these things don’t always have a happy ending, but it was just too brutal seeing everyone gone. I feel it ruined what was an excellent show up until episode 14.

This is the fourth kdrama that I watched, so I know my opinions are limited in the culture of kdramas or kshows. I just need to explain how bad this drama was.

My review will be a bit spotty because I'm already trying to repress this series in my memory, lol.

This will also be very long.

Let me start by explaining that from the beginning, I thought that this drama dragged a lot. The chemistry between Pil-Sung and Seo-Jung was okay, but their scenes at first seemed almost pointless or forced. After all the time they spent together, there still wasn't much romance between them. They were "soulmates" yes, but there wasn't much play into that. There was just awkward, but cute, scenes between them up until the end. I didn't believe the feelings for one another.

Then Hwang Dae-Doo suddenly becomes a criminal mastermind of almost all trades. It also really bugged me that he was just so able to know his powers and take civilian souls to level up his magic. He runs drugs, runs a gang, a whole big ass business all the while murdering. Like I don't get how he could just be so good at all of this killing and crime when he was just a serial killer, I know that some killers are geniuses in real life but he wasn't at first. He was just driven by the fun of murdering. At one point there's a zombie drug randomly made and is used in one episode just to reak havoc. K, cool.

At one point apparently, all the murdering he was doing was opening the gates to hell. This was only mentioned in two episodes; it was never stressed after the initial time of that discovery. Like wot. That would've been a brilliant plot to go with instead of what ended up happening just for Hwang Dae-Doo to keep killing and getting away with it as he tried to open the gates of hell. That's more logical than him just killing to bother the shit out of Pil-Sung.

Blah-blah-blah, filler and filler and filler.

Seo-Jung because a shaman and Pil-Sung is sad. She comes back though and helps him out to get Hwang. The Hwang moves to a new body. He kills more innocent characters. Pil-Sung gets sad and does nothing, once again. Earlier it was established that Seo-Jung who have to die for Hwang to stop what he was doing though obv Pil-Sung doesn't want that. Not like Hwang would stop, duh he's a psychopathic serial killer. So then another person dies. At this point, I was hoping a comet would take them all out, or those forgotten gates of hell would just open up already. Pil-Sung gets the idea to be possessed by Nak-Chun, while it helps them figure out who the victim (who surprise surprise still gets killed) would be it causes Hwang to trick Nak-Chun's daughter.

Filler, filler.

So far, this is up to episode 10 or 11. Pil-Sung is pretty much causing a lot of these chain reactions. He refuses or doesn't know who to stop Hwang, so he sort of gives up. They let go, Hwang, when they could've killed him because he had Nak-Chun's daughter, this leads him to go on a shooting rampage. The body that Hwang is in dies, and he disappears for a whole ass month. Then, of course, the killing starts up again. Pil-Sung then runs away because he doesn't want to kill his girl and is the cause of everyone dying. He mentions this several times but doesn't play into Hwang's game.

Then the most upsetting part of the series happens. Chief Yoo, Joon-Hyung (newly engaged), Yeon-Hee (who was pregnant and engaged to Joon-Hyung), and Seung-Hee all die in one night. What was especially dumb was that Yoo turns on Joon-Hyung, understandable of course, but doesn't even think about what he could do as a cop. So Joon-Hyung dies because of him. Yeon-Hee tries to protect Seung-Hee, BUT THEY BOTH JUST DIE BECAUSE HWANG IS A VIOLENT AND REMORSELSS MURDER! Oh, so then Yoo kills himself. While this is happening, Pil-Sung is at the hospital because Seo-Jung tried to kill herself to stop all the killing. Obviously wouldn't have work because Hwang said it would have to be Pil-Sung to do it.

After all of this, finally, they come up with a plan. After going on a damn vacation after almost everyone he cared about dies, Seo-Jung figures out the island is sacred because of salt and something else. Like you couldn't have researched it before this? As a shaman, no one told you that that was an excellent place to go. Whatever. So Pil-Sung kills her after everyone is dead, he also almost shot a little girl because he kept refusing to kill Seo-Jung because he's a dumbass. Seo-Jung's plan is set in motion for Pil-Sung to go to the island to stop Hwang. He gets possessed by the ghosts he cared for and even Chief Yoo, but honestly screw him for being dumb. They then go against Hwang and Hwang possesses Pil-Sung and Seo-Jung uses the last of her power for Pil-Sung to kill Hwang and himself.

So multiple people were senselessly killed because no one thought throughout the entire series, mainly Pil-Sung. I would've liked an episode dedicated to them researching a good place to do an exorcism with getting everyone to help them in some way or another. That would be better than the soccer scene. Seo-Jung went to be a shaman to help, but Pil-Sung bitched about it. He got possessed by Nak-Chun, which was a little smart, but the guy got to close and was immediately figured out, and his daughter was put in danger. Instead of telling ANYONE what was happening, the people he was closest too were in kept in the dark and because of this they died.

So if you like senseless violence with no reward, feel free to watch. I think overall my biggest issue is that when you have a brilliant psychotic killer, you have an equally determined/brilliant adversary. In this series you have the killer part, but SEVERELY lack the other part to it. Pil-Sung was determined at one point, but just sorta stopped trying to do anything. The one trying to make moves was Seo-Jung and Pil-Sung refused to listen to her which left her character unfulfilled and only used as a device for man-pain.

I could go on and on about how frustrating this show was. It had so much potential, but once Pil-Sung seemingly gave up it went downhill from there.

Save your time and do not watch.

This show is horrible. Like I loved all the supporting characters and what do u know the stupid writer kills all of them. Like all of them. In my opinion the supporting characters were the best part of the drama

Also the main lead is so freaking stupid. Like I’ve gone insane watching it. Like he thought staying in a hotel and not contacting the outside world would be helpful. Because of that all his friends died and tons of other innocent people died. I understand he loves his gf, but because he didn’t kill her tons of people freaking die. Like do u consider 1 life will = to tons of other people with loving families. Like the captain and the new police officer died while their fiancée who was pregnant baby and the daughter who finally got 2nd rank die because that freaking idiot wanted to save a girl he loved

ok....first of all, i. am an avid viewer/watcher of crime/thriller dramas or whatever you call them, so yeah i’ve watched almost all of them. This one right here has the biggest potential to be a hella good sh*t, but they blew it up. Why? because of adding some unnecessary and ridiculous love line to the story, ugh. I had to give myself a pat on head for surviving through 13, almost 14 episodes.. yes i’m not done yet cause i’m just hella frustrated by the storyline sooo i had to let out my anger here before watching back

I get that “not all kdramas/movies end on a good note” thing very well cause i’ve watched A LOT of them. but this one idk..... just why? During the first few episodes of when sun yang woo fights hong seo jung’s mother, that sh*t was brilliant imo it was new, awesome and i expected this sh*t to happen again but cooler when hwang dae doo fight HSJ. But nope that was my mistake to believe this could be getting better and better. i ?? was ?? damn ?? wrong ?? Guess who skipped through most of the episodes? heho

I am beyond dumbfounded of the fact that the writer put up a storyline where kang pil sung just got the audacity to shut himself in a fuxking hostel or some sh*t to “protect” or that’s what he tryna do to his closed ones. When in fact he could've fuxking saved them instead of being a lil b*tch that he is, only thinking about his so called girlfriend HSJ... They're not even official yet???? And oh woww?? Hwang to the Dae Doo. this b*tch is my man.. my favourite.. ma boy. lol don’t get me wrong. i’m not saying that i like him killing all those innocent people, nope. But! i loOooOOove his character, the way he kills, his games, his MO. it’s brutal. and that’s what makes the drama good, his brilliant character is such a waste cause it would’ve been better if it ends up on other dramas like Voice for example. The main leads would’ve done it better without the love line.

the supporting characters i have no hates and comments they were just right and made the drama atleast breathable after all those disappointing main leads’ decision. though i won’t comment on the annoying ahjumma cause i guess she was much better than KPS who kept on playing push n pull with everyone including his mom eventhough he’s just a weakling.

Right now im in the middle of watching episode 15 after skipping the ridiculous scene of KPS and HSJ having the audacity to get up and have a honeymoon in the midst of a fuxking disaster.. people kept killing each other out of anger and these two love birds got the audacity to go on a honeymoon?? Honey HSJ, you know better than everyone that the world is in despair. i guess this is why shamans aren’t allowed to be in love... because it’ll make them blindly in love. damn i should’ve stopped at that episode yall. ugh.

Although I don;t agree with the spoilers, you have to see for yourself. It has been a while since I have been so angry at a bad guy - thye really did it extremely well to make you hate the enemy that much. Highly Recommended to check this out yourselves! Its a nice relief sometimes to ad some humor, but then it gets dark real fast. I really hated Hwang Hae Do - that guy is just straight up evil - and for him to have powers like that completely unfair to the rest of the living world.

Be aware that apart from the supernatural byline this drama has tragedies that reflect real life issues and some of the extreme outcomes resulting from this. It is not a rom-com.

This drama was a pure joke Don't waste time downloading or watching I was hoping OCN is finally turning its table since The Player was nicely done, after watching this I realize I was hoping for too much. This drama was a complete $h*it a lot of nice characters that I love got hurt & end up dying which they don't deserve this was the first time that I felt happy that both Protagonist Die in the end which serves them right. Also both Protagonist made more time for lovey dovey rather than finding solutions to the bigger problems both of them are selfish letting a lot of people die & letting the world end because they believe that love is more important, what a load of crap! Honestly Kim Nak-Chun was 1000x better than the lead specially when possessed the body of Pil-Sun he contribute a lot. If he completely took over his body I think they were able to beat Hwang Dae-Doo.

SPOILER I understand why a lot of you are disapointed because a lot of characters died but honestly even if the main charactets died, that doesn't mean the drama wasn't good. Yall act like the drama is shit, but you know it's good to see unique drama where the ending isn't the tradtional happy one. The ending was beautiful , when all the ghost and the Chef came to help Pil Sung shooting Dae du I crieeeed.

It's sad that Pil Sung died at the end but tbh I couldn't imagine another ending where he's the only survivor. Since the begining, the main characters were not meant to be together because the girl has a tragic futur like her mom as a Shaman. I think if they were together, Pil Sung would ending up dying like her father did by falling in love with a Shaman, because they can't he in love. So I guess the authors make her die so Pil Sung will die too by saving the world so they can be together in heaven.

The only negative I have to say is the fact that they didn't show us how Pil Sung and the girl meet again in heaven. If they made a scene like that it would be more beautiful!

Don‘t even waste your time! I‘m at episode 14 and am dropping this without a second thought. Both protagonists are so weak and busy themselves playing Romeo and Juliet rather than sucking it up and finding solutions to the bigger problems. I didn‘t buy the whole tragic love crap and I couldn‘t have cared less, I also started skipping some scenes coz I just couldn‘t bare watching it anymore. It could‘ve been so good, the premise was interesting, but the hero/heroine have no idea what they‘re doing, prefer to wallow in their own self-pity or whatever you wanna call it, lack conviction and determination and are just plain boring. I just couldn‘t root for them. So just try and find something else to watch, I wouldn‘t recommend this.

The show's premise was really good, I will give them that. A detective and a psychic trying to catch the spirit of a serial killer and finding ways to banish him forever. Not gonna lie, I really like the Hwang Dae Du's method, he's very meticulous and OCD, which is a given if he's a psychopath, and his MO is very chilling (putting a mirror in front of the victims' face? UGH. THAT PART GETS ME). I really like the way the writers portray this serial killer, it's very realistic and during the first few episodes, you get to see how messed up he is.

Then we get to know Kang Pil Sung and Hong Seo Jung. The show didn't really give any background to these two, all I get was Pil-sung's mother killed herself and it scarred young Pil-sung, and Seo-jung is a daughter of a very powerful shaman. Pil-sung's colleague paints him as a good detective that will do anything to catch his suspect, even staking them out for days on end. This made Pil-sung seemed like a very competent detective, but throughout the series, I really doubt his competency. Instead of doing good honest detective work, Pil-sung and Seo-jung summons Kim Nak Cheon, the late detective that caught Hwang Dae Du, to help them catch Dae-du. I don't blame them for that, it's a clever move. But, after Kim Nak Cheon sacrificed himself to infiltrate Dae-du's soul, Pil-sung and Seo-jung didn't do anything to defeat Dae-du. Instead, they just gave up, and had a honeymoon period during the month Dae-du laid low. Pil-sung seems to abandoned his 'obsession' with Dae-du and instead believes that Dae-du was just...gone. Seo-jung, despite having a huge psychic power, also just ignore the calm before the storm, and instead she played house with Pil-sung. At that point, I just want to chain them to a desk, feed them Hwang Dae Du's case file, and probably cleanse Seo-jung's soul to increase her shaman power or something. Even when Dae-du threatened to kill off everyone that came into contact with Pil-sung, those two main characters just hid like a mouse! What happened to your good detective skills, Pil-sung?? They just hide instead of finding ways of how to get rid of Hwang Dae Du's spirit, and because of their hiding, Dae-du managed to absorb more spirits and became more powerful. Seo-jung keeps asking Pil-sung to kill her to end this all, Pil-sung keeps refusing, and those two just stuck in that loop for freaking days. The writers keep saying about the gate to hell opening, and it gave me hope that these two will be able to stop it from opening, but nope. The gate opened, and they did nothing about it. Then the last few episodes are just Pil-sung being really miserable and running away from Dae-du, while Dae-du is killing everyone. Then it just ends with them in a small boat, in the middle of the ocean, dying.

Long story short, they had a good plot, good characters, but the writers didn't really expanded on the main aspects of the characters. Like Dae-du, he's a good antagonist, but it still didn't explain him going out of his regular MO and just killing everyone, it's just unrealistic, because a serial killer like him, will want people to know that it's him that did the killing, but instead he made people think that it was Pil-sung's doing. Then the main reason why he keeps playing with Pil-sung was only because Pil-sung didn't ask him how he's doing? That was a really weak excuse.

My suggestion for you, potential watchers, if you started to feel like watching the episode is painful to you (because you're frustrated with the main characters), just drop it.

But like everyone else’s response, I don’t know what happened, but the writing became so cliche and stupid. So many people were written to make so many decisions that were out character for them! Then there so so SO many ideas that were hunted at, but none came to fruition! (e.g. ghosts’ ability to possess Pil-Sung (as they normally possess humans), Pil-Sung’s “pure” soul, Geum-jo’s threat to Hwang Dae-du that the heavens will punish him for destroying the balance of nature, etc.)

I can’t remember the exact reason, but they couldn’t enlist the help of any of their friends, and as a result, countless people were killed and eaten by Hwang Dae-du! It made everyone feel so useless! is that ‘the heavens w What really annoys me (beyond the useless loss of life)

But Pil-sung did actually kill someone in the same room as the girl. He wasn't just a suspect - he was the culprit. Even if the girl had been conscious, even if the police believed that someone had forced Pil-sung to kill, he would still have been arrested for murder. And Pil-sung was also the suspect for the murders of his colleagues and some other people. There was no way the little girl could have cleared him of those killings.

In a nutshell, the title should be "And Then There Were None." From Episode 1, I was completely turned off, but I'm a sucker for romance and felt the two main characters would be satisfying. They weren't. Other than a few words of affection that came off as forced and empty and a very dry kiss, they could have just as easily been siblings. I should have pulled out around Episode 5, but kept going with hope for improvement. That's what I get for being curious -- and we know what that does to the cat...

The plot was as weak as wet sheets of cheap toilet paper. With so MANY holes throughout, it insulted our intelligence over and over again. For example: The little girl who miraculously survived. The Police would have been all over her asking questions about Kang. She would have immediately informed them about Jang which would have led to further investigation and Kang no longer a suspect. That would have changed the storyline completely and perhaps given us a much better ending than a boy and girl who meet in the future, look each other over and speak the cliche line "You look familiar." (rolls eyes and sighs) What a shame to waste a talented cast on such drivel....

I like this one. It was tragic, but it all comes together in Ep 16. Being terrorized by omnipotent Hwang Dae Do, forced into making terrible choices, and watching their friends die one by one, out of desperation - " Hate cannot beat desperation" - Kang and Hong flee to their island. There Hong realizes Hwang's only weakness, but to accomplish this - she will have to be virtuous - "Evil cannot beat virtue" - and die so her soul can be absorbed by Hwang. She hides within til Kang finally gets the opportunity - and reveals herself. Hwang underestimates the power of her soul - and the power of the lost souls wandering around - the simple power of just helping a man to stand up. They help Kang overpower Hwang. Then on the boat - again Hwang underestimates the power and virtue of Kang's soul. The world is saved.

So knowing this, the writer sets up the first 15 episodes so the situation looked so absolutely hopeless -- I could not figure out how Hwang would be defeated -- but there was a brief clue - once the evil soul leaves the body - it must find another body quickly to possess - or perish. So in that sense the writer kept me guessing.

Song Sae - I will always remember his grunts as "Never say die" - and when Koh Joon looked straight into the camera lens - she could have been looking straight into your soul.

1. They showed all the spirits leaving hwang dae du and in peace. 2. Seo jung and her mother's spirit reunite and have a closure. 3. What's with the gun at the final moment?

There is so much explanation left unexplained. The speciality that some of the characters have seem pointless. I thought seo jung was the one who is powerful enough to beat hwang dae du but they made her powerless like everybody else.

The plot and idea has so much potential. This show could be much better if the main characters worked together to beat hwang dae du.

I have to admit it's really disappointed me. Well at least pil sung and seo jung reunite in the next life. Sigh.

This kdrama was very different to what I usually watch so to me, having such a different plot was good. I've read a lot of comments saying that it's not worth the watch but I feel like it's just because it doesn't have the usual happy ending where the bad guy is caught and everyone survives and lives happily ever after. I do think this drama is worth the watch, it can be slow at times but over all I would still recommend it. The characters all dying off etc was really sad but it made it more realistic. The director and writer did a good job at producing something that goes against usual story lines, it was intreging and without a doubt unique. Also the character development is good, yes the lead female actress cries but not the whole damn time. Sure it's a lot but if you're close friends and loved ones died while you're life was constantly at risk wouldn't you be crying too? Smh. The male lead being stubborn is a part of his character, he obviously won't want to give up on the one he loves or things that he knows aren't right. Anyways the drama was good and I do recommend it. It'll be different from any other drama you've seen.

Milly Apr 26 2019 2:43 am I really like this show. It gets super depressing, but that's because it's realistic about what will happen when evil spreads and people let it take them over. I threw all my expectations out of the window at around episode 12, because I knew by then that the show was going to be different from any other K drama I'd ever seen.

The thoughts and actions of all the characters were generally convincing to me. I don't know why the hero is being called stubborn by several commentators - is he expected to just do what the villain tells him to do, especially when villains are not exactly known for keeping their promises? (He only did it in the end cos the villain included another factor that forced his hand.) And I don't see why anyone should believe the hero and heroine's story. Frankly I wouldn't have believed them either. The heroine does cry a lot, but in the end she was the one who told the hero what to do.

The stubbornness of the male lead made me want to throttle him. It’s so disconnected and a waste of time. It’s such a shame because it started off strong, forces of good vs forces of evil but it quickly became omnipotent evil and with any of the supernatural good in the story line be a waste and quickly forgotten. A real missed opportunity here for a more complex and thought out story line with better character development.

Episode 2 when you see the jump in rating is what attracts you and think oh this drama is interesting. Then episode 7 is when I find it hard to finish the episode. From there on it goes downhill that no matter the amount of acting talent from the casts could save this drama from its lousy writing. I'm sorry writer, but you screw this one and make so many of us regret ever spend time to watch this drama.

Just finished all 16 episodes and I'm not entirely sure how I feel... but annoyed is probably the best way I can describe it. I've seen some movies and shows kill off most of all their characters and it was still majorly interesting and worth your time,, but this one.. not so much. Don't get me wrong it was still a really cool plot or at least was before basically 5 main characters died in one episode and you're left kind of dumbfounded at the randomness and blatant WTF over it. The villains sob story as to why he's a murderer makes zero sense and his killings just don't connect very well. The lead guy will make you wanna jump in your screen and shake him while screaming "why why why!" because of all the ways he basically gets his friends and coworkers killed.. The lead woman just cries the whole time and at one point you think she's gonna tap into some awesome powers to save everyone but NOPE, she's completely useless and dies at the end because of it. It's mostly just the villain getting away with everything and everyone is powerless and its sad. Side stories made no sense, it just seemed to drag at the beginning and then the last two episodes its like BAM! everyone dies (including the villain.. finally) and the only one left is the friend of the main woman who married the other shaman and it ends on her reading postcards that-- honestly im not even gonna finish what I was gonna say because BORE. Basically, don't waste your time because it's an emotional roller coaster that flings you off at the end and runs your body over and over again.

Majority of the main characters died in the 14 episode. I honestly am baffled at how the writer chose to kill them off so easily and the “good guys” have no absolute power what so ever. This drama is entirely under the thumb of the villain for the entire series. I don’t understand why the villain is so set on one dude to kill off his girl. This drama will only make you pissed of the entire series. I only kept watching since kdrama usually somehow get out of the rut at some point, but nope, not this one. I am on the second to last episode and nothing has changed at all from the first one. Maybe it’s because it’s on Netflix? Who knows...

If you hate girls who cries and is depressing for most of the series too, then you’ll hate the main female lead. She cries almost every episode and there are hardly any happy moments or victories ones. I did like that the main male lead is not your kpop star hot dude.

Another really annoying part is that no one believes that the villain is an evil spirit jumping from bodies to bodies. All the other main characters are in the dark pretty much the entire series besides the other two leads.

Basically near the end of the series they just go around in a circle being torn apart about the male lead not wanting to kill his girl and doing nothing while letting the villain dude kill their close ones. No one can do anything to stop the insanely strong villan which I find is super unrealistic. You might as well just watch the film Saw because that’s basically the whole series is one psychopath dude making others kill each other in fucked up games and the characters can do nothing. Oh yeah, dash in some romance in there and you got the Possession TV series.

I am disappointed. I really thought they could have developed this series into a much better one if they explored the male lead power more (him being able to get easily possessed) that could have came in handy. Also this ridiculous burden on the female lead that she’s the only one who can save earth from the villain but there’s been so many times she quit and says she can’t. I highly doubt she’ll do anything by the end of the episode (15 isn’t out yet). There’s been no foreshadow that she can or has the power to defeat the evil villain from the writer. I’m sure it’s going to end with the male lead killing off his girl.

England Apr 24 2019 8:02 pm This drama is so good and so sad, I've been here cry for at least three episode now and still feel sad if they wanted the villain to be hated I think they have accomplished that the way I hate Hwang Dae-Doo you dont understand. I want to applaud the writter and the cast as I am in love with this drama although too many good people died that shouldn't have (have a feeling they tricked him or something)

First, the 2 protagonists character development makes you don’t want to root for them as they become so wimpy and helpless..running away..ending her life, hide in room and not faced up to reality etc. and the guy bern able to see ghosts..that does not advance the story at all...completely meaningless in the story or character’s development. It’s ok to have the bad guy being omnipotent but the bad guy being possessed twice!-how bad luck is it? I just finished ep 14 and i think there’s a total of 2 more episodes-before they resolves the story...i suspect it will end lamely...

I want to see how they turn the tables. I don't mind with how the story goes, but for some people they might find the story a little draggy and boring. I don't mind tho because i enjoy seeing the relationship between the leads. Natural and sweet lol

SPOILER ALERT: I can't believe this drama killed main characters in one episode!!! Five of them!!! I applaud this drama for not being afraid to killed off their characters because it makes it different from other drama which didn't dare to kill off their beloved characters. Like seriously, five of the characters that we've been 'living' together now are dead. Like wow! Hopefully no more deaths

But then the main characters developed romantic feelings which I was kinda iffy about. They have revealed the villain and he has alot of power to the point where the main characters can't fight back. Now it is basically a story about the fight between the villain and the heroes with a touch of romance which I think is getting boring. I feel like the story has faded if that makes sense.

I wished they at least had some few parts where the main characters would win. I definitely prefer voice, save me, guest and priest more from OCN.

Story wise, because the type of drama this is I actually think it's necessary for him to kill them all. It's part of his character. He is meant to be blood thirsty. If he doesn't kill them all then that's just lazy character accuracy. Just because you want a happy ending doesn't mean they all should live. Realistically, most korean dramas of this type most of the characters survive. It's possible that it's a vision or dream inside Hong Seo-Jung head. But if they all die it seems very accurate in my opinion. What villain doesn't kill everyone? Especially one like Hwang Dae-Doo?

God knows what happened and I found myself falling totally in love with the leading characters as if the script writer is writing out my dairy. Damm I cried like a baby during the part where the older medium conducts the rituals to hand over her duties to the young medium. I locked myself in the room, secretly watching this drama till episode 12 to prevent my family from laughing at me.

The female lead is very pretty and I rooted for her in She was Pretty, but sadly I don't think that's enough to be a lead. She's not a bad actress and she's good in this, but her face and mouth barely move. Any this is a good story and even the bad guy is likeable (at least the body that is housing the ghost). It reminds me, for some reason, of Strong Girl Bong Soon, don't know why, maybe its because of the comedy provided by the police officers. Anyway I'm enjoying it and looking forward the the last few episodes.

The guy was just a psycho. The only thing the toxicology report found in his system was marijuana, according to wikipedia. But after this drama her popularity might be increase.
