This is a story of a family on a farm named Ojakgyo. The family consist of a grandmother, parents, and four brothers. Hwang Chang-Sik (Baek Il-Seob) is the father of the family and he runs the Ojakgyo farm. The grandmother (Kim Yong-Rim) and mother (Kim Ja-Ok) are loving people. Eldest son Tae-Sik (Jung Woong-In) works as a physical therapist. He is almost 40-years-old, but still single. Tae-Sik looks for the perfect woman to fall in love with at first sight. The second son is Tae-Bum (Ryu Soo-Young) who works as a reporter for a broadcasting company. The third son is Tae-Hee (Joo Won) who works as a detective. Tae-Hee is a tough guy, but soft around his grandmother and mother. The youngest son is Tae-Pil (Yeon Woo-Jin) who doesn't work.

One day, the family's peaceful and happy lives are shaken by Baek In-Ho (Lee Young-Ha). Approximately 10 years ago, Hwang Chang-Sik rented the Ojakgyo farm from Baek In-Ho and in return placed his name on the property deed (so Baek In-Ho could avoid paying taxes on the property). The other family members did not know about the deal and thought the farm belonged to them.

Baek In-Ho has a wife, Jung Yoon-Sook (Jo Mi-Ryung), and a daughter Ja-Eun (Uee). Ja-Eun is beautiful, but self-centered. Ja-Eun's mother is actually her step-mother. When Ja-Eun's father is around, Yoon-Sook acts like a loving mother to Ja-Eun, but when he's not around Yoon-Sook doesn't treat Ja-Eun well. Jae-Eun hides this from her father. Baek In-Ho's runs a company, but the company faces bankruptcy. Now, Baek In-Ho wants his farm back. He gives the family renting the farm a one month notice to vacate the property ....

Debby McCallister Oct 10 2022 4:58 pm How can the youngest brother playing in the drama as the younger brother, the Tae Hee is the younger than Tae Pil, in real life. Joo Won was born in 1987 and Yeon Woo-Jin was in 1984. Uee and Joo Won are the closest in age.

Debby McCallister Oct 10 2022 4:30 pm Baek Ja-Eun, her mother died, when she was a baby. The mother and the grandmother threw out the house. I am glad that Tae Hee , help her out she was living and sleeping in a tent. She did not have anyone caring for her. She was kicked out the college campus, because of someone else's problem. Baek Ja-Eun lost her job, and she was really homeless. The dog was treated better than she was, they fed the dog. No one should treat a human being like that. The mother of this drama, she stole the contact, if the mother did that in real life, she would have gone to jail for that.

The chemistry and the romance between the lead actors is amazing!! It doesn't solely revolve around romance but family issues and the bonds we share. Just watch it!!! ^_^

Castlin Aug 02 2017 11:36 pm 100% Recommended! Trust me guys.. i'm a very impatient person. I always skip scenes which i find boring and only waste of time.. but trust me... you will love this drama. ( honestly first episode is kinda boring but after that you cannot stop your self watching the next episode. ) All brothers have unique charm that makes you smile and dugeun dugeun :) The eldest son is so-so.. what to do??? he is old and pressure about his life. The second son Hwang Tae-Bum (Ryu Soo-Young) I like this man so much.. irritating because of being jerk :) at first but that is his charm. you will fall inlove. The third son Hwang Tae-Hee ( JOO WON ) the cold.. quite and super duper cute, trust me every scene of him i fell inlove. so handsome... The Youngest son Hwang Tae-Pil ( Yeon Woo Jin ) the funny and cool son of the family. I just wish that he have younger partner :) And of course the center of everything Baek Ja-Eun ( UEE ) the lovely.. jolly... kindhearted.. innocent girl. The example of spoiled heiress but very down to Earth. you will love her alot. To the writers and actors congratulatons!!! A job well done!

I will watch three more episode but if Baek Ja eUn situation didn't change. I will stop na. Pity for Baek Ja Eun. I wish she will make them all pay even Hwang Tae Hee. Don't fall inlove easily.

Lola Aug 06 2015 2:38 pm I enjoyed this drama! I cried and laughed with the cast and since it's a long dramas grew attached to the characters! Overall it was a pretty great drama but there are still flaws in it that I just couldn't get past! Especially the fact that the family rejected the elder son's kid because he was "Dark"!! First of all the kid wasn't even dark, he was slightly tan! And second of all, does it make him less of a human if he was dark?! I hated that the family were that ignorant! Especially the name calling like "African"! They made it seem like it was really bad to be African which was offensive! If Koreans want to attract the international audience, they need to learn to respect other cultures other than their own! Especially now that kpop is becoming Global and kdrama is also becoming popular outside Korea, they need to be cautious about what they present! Ik they're not exposed to other cultures that much but they should study history a bit more and do some research! Other than that it had a heart warming storyline and it sends a message of how families should always stick by eachother!

Maybe it because this drama wasnt my fav genre. But i love joo won and i decided to watch this because of him. I love joo won movie and drama and he always looks great. Especially in Gaksital. I still can't move on from his character in Gaksital.

Anyway, everyone in this drama was outstanding and 'Ojakgyo Family' richly deserved it's nearly wire to wire top rating...

Love America Mar 02 2014 2:46 pm Deciding to watch a 58-episode drama makes you wonder if it can hold up for that long. Happy to say my wife and I enjoyed EVERY episode. We always looked forward to the next one. 'Ojakgyo Family' entertained us all the way through. It has an excellent large acting cast, lots of great characters, many side stories, love triangles, heartbreaks, heartwarming reconciliations, comedy relief, twists and turns--everything you could ask for in a K-drama. Of the hundred or so dramas we've watched, this is one of the very best! Highly recommended.

even uee,whom i didnt really like at first (im not really interested in after school),now im growing to love her. i even watched all her as mvs and all. baek jae un is such amazing role potray amazingly by her.

not to mention a lot of good things on this drama,the plot,the cast,everything seems so perfect and realistic! i find its hard to stop once i star talking about things i like in this drama.

such a waste that i didnt recognize such drama exist. i just watched it to see joo won,since im new fan of him,

i used to find dramas over 20 episode is tiring. but not with this one,eventhough it has 58 ep (58 forgodsake!!!!),i am totally enjoy it! this is just proving how great this drama is(and the fact that i've been watching it over and over again 6th times already)

oh i just need somebody to save me. i dont think i could be this addicted to a drama in the future. Ojakgyo brother is totally ruining my life :(

bskyldz Feb 09 2014 5:36 am i finished the series last week and this was a pretty good drama :) i love the plot twist, the first half of the drama i hated the family but then i started to like them...i watched a bunch of dramas till now but among them this has my favourite couple --- tae hee and ja eun --- i love everything about them.

I recently watched and enjoyed the Ojakgyo Family on the TV station 49-2. I raved about the show so much so, that my co-workers presented the series to me as a gift before I went into the hospital to have major surgery.

During my recuperation I watched the 58 episodes, and I want to know if there any episodes beyond 58?

I shared DVD one with my girlfriend, and she is going to order the DVD set.

I fell in love with most of the characters in this series and could feel their pain, joy, etc. I do wish/hope that there is more to come.

bskyldz Jan 17 2014 2:10 pm i watched 8 ep. until now. omg this family is really something. poor Baek Ja Eun! it's the first time i hated the lead family. all of them are terrible. mother stole the contract, reporter one did unproved news which ruined everything for ja eun, police/lead guy acts like decent policeman but he is same! they lived for free without paying any rent for 10 years and still saying this area was them wtf!

Dawn Oct 23 2013 7:42 am The director of OB and Good Doctor brings together once more one of the best actors of his generation - PD Ki Min Soo and Joo Won! Additionally I just loved the role done by Kim Ja Ok - the mother..... She was the one who was holding the family and nurtured them. This drama held my heart like no other family drama :) 58 episodes was worth the story telling of all the characters and seeing them once more brings sunshine in my life. Thank you to the entire team :)

I remember back then I was hooked by jae-eun and tae-hae couple to the point I rewatch all of their scene together over and over. What a lovely on-screen couple. The director can balance the story of Hwang brothers,there is sad, funny, sweet moments in each episode :) I like the story between jaeun-taehee couple, second brother, jaeun-bokja, and interaction between hwang brothers :)

Lilyc Aug 29 2011 5:05 pm what's with this drama. One looks like Kang Dong Won. The other one looks like Jung Woo Sung. And the thirth has a similar look as Min hyuk (CN BLue). The eldest brother reminds me of an older version of Baek Dong Soo. (sorry to say this, becoz the actor from BDS looks really attractive and has better looks of course, its just a reminding)
