Japan's emergency medical care system suffers from a severe labor shortage. Overtime work per doctor in emergency medical care rises, with a lack of experienced doctors being the cause of the problem. Night time emergency medical care is worse than daytime.

The Hakuoukai Asahi Kaihin Hospital, which is a hospital branch of the Hakuoukai Group, starts a reform of the emergency medical care system at their hospital. They create a night doctor system. The night doctor is an emergency medical team that only works during night duty. Thanks to this system, the shift system is abandoned and the hospital is able to appropriate care 24 hours a day.

Mitsuki Asakura (Haru), Akihito Naruse (Kei Tanaka), Shin Fukazawa (Yuta Kishi), Shun Sakuraba (Takumi Kitamura) and Yukiho Takaoka (Sae Okazaki) are members of the night doctor team. These five doctors differ in personalities and age, but, under the motto of never refusing a patient, they begin their work.

Notes

"Night Doctor" takes over Fuji TV's Monday 21:00 time slot previously occupied by "Ichikei's Crow: The Criminal Court Judges" and followed by "Radiation House II" on October 4, 2021.

Grandmalee Sep 24 2021 11:10 am Not as outstanding as expected, but still watchable, if largely for the action scenes. Financial resources and candidates allowing, the idea to shorten working hours for hospital doctors by creating a full night shift of doctors and nurses comes across as a good one. The dialog is often preachy about its necessity and benefits and gets boring at times. Haru is dependable, so are the seasoned actors. I'm not familiar with Yuta Kishi but don't think he can be groomed to be a great actor, despite the more camera time he's given than Kei Tanaka or Ikki Sawamura in the episodes. Zen Kajihara overplayed his character in a clownish way. Do we need excessive caricatures like that?
