Park Cha O Reum works as a rookie judge. She is in her mid-20's and follows "an eye for an eye" principle. She does not accept prejudice or blindly follow authority. Dealing with cases, she and her colleagues, including Im Ba-Reun, grow as persons.

The drama proves everyone is faulty nobody is perfect. So that's why we see flaw in every character with perfect manners and the writer and cast presented is so beautifully. We can also see the flaw of the society too . Above all of this we have also seen the justice, the humanity, love between between people beyond the blood relation , All of those really put me on think . It's really worth to watch ^^ Thanks to writer ans cast and others members of the drama to presented us such a wonderful drama ^^ thank you.

Perhaps the producers heard about the horrible case in Belfast and was inspired accordingly. It was all over our news for months. Unfortunately, many women have unpleasant memories, and you don't have to be wearing a mini skirt either. I don't know if I can keep watching it. It's too good. At the same time, this is the real world. If this series educates, great. But who watches it? Still ratings good. Hopefully, it will educate society some bit.

NGS Dec 04 2020 5:53 am watching this for Go Ara since I had to wait Dodosolsollalasol back then and also for Myungsoo since He is my bias in Infinite and also for Sung Dong Ill since He Is A Very Good Actor!!! I just want to say This Is One Of My Best Kdrama I Ever Watched!!! I really love the show, I am not into romance and I love the basic concept of the drama ! But, that little romance is also sweet and my favorite, they just going slowly and know each other slowly... I love that. Our awkward and polite couple XD

I love to see season 2 too!! I really regret why I dont watch this drama back then in 2018 :( well, better late than never tho XD

Nina Oct 08 2020 10:05 am A very well done drama, with great society issues in every case but with lighter approach so it's not overdone. I love the chemistry and teamwork portrayed in the drama. Like how Judge Park has a very strong sense of justice that she would do anything to uphold it, but she ended up burdening the single mom working with her. Like saying, if you wanna go fast, go alone, but if you wanna last long, go together. The team become one, which make it so heartwarming. The second couple was so lovely to watch, I was rooting for them actually. There are many messages throughout the drama, please give it a try

Many says L is not convincing, but for me, to be a judge L's expression is the best; that is not having many expressions :) though he reminds me Jaejoong everytime I watch his face. Sung Dong Il, Deok Hwan and Elijah are great, never fails in any of their dramas *love*

Angela Mar 08 2020 5:46 am This is not a bad drama, a bit uneventful but a good setting. L should not take the part of a judge, he is just so unbelievable, he looks like a K pop singer, a teen idol. He does not have an intelligent judge-like face and is unsure how to act like one, bless his heart. Go ara is a very good actress and plays her part to perfection. She needs to lose the weight she put on for her last movie, but she is a stunning talent. Sung Dong Il is brilliant as the senior judge, 100% believable. I watched it to the end, skipped a couple of episodes and it didn’t seem to make any difference!

Like in all business the political struggles. It also touches what my mom is going through ( alzheimer) how difficult it is not to be recognized bu the person who gaved you life. L and Go Ara did not disappoint me and also the rest of the cast was magnificent! Enjoyed it very much.

Her role was so pushy and I get it that her role really lives for justice but it’s just annoying. But episode 11 to 16 was very good! I enjoyed this drama and L’s smile is so freaking adorable haha.

I gave this drama a shot coz i ran out of dramas to watch BUT Wow! how this drama amazed me. It was so well written, light-hearted and very touching it completely circumvented my whole perception of Go Ara. Now im gonna all of her dramas. ive been converted hahaha daebak!!! awesome cast and L was really amazing also Sung Dol Il and of course my fave Ryu Deok Hwan i definitely love him in all his God's Quiz dramas hehehehe i definitely recommend this drama its a.10 for me!!!!

forenseekscienteas May 03 2019 8:51 am I highly recommend this drama since this drama is not just about entertainment but it depicts relevant issues that the society or the world is currently facing. Among all the Korean dramas that I have watched before, I can say that this has been on my top list. Other dramas may hold interesting and relevant plot or genres, but, romantic love is still the revolving "focus" or "conclusion" of those stories. Miss Hammurabi, though, is profoundly focus on the legal or social awakening aspect of the plot. Although, it has love interest in the plot, it was not cringey and it was not romanticize. It was not also the main focus and it was only shown at little moments for both the characters are also mainly focus on their job as a judge and their dreams of creating a better society. This drama, compared to other dramas, has more intellect, relevance, reason, and reality, thus, I highly recommend it to everyone.

Angel Zhou Mar 26 2019 9:11 am Very nice plot : - the civil cases which will bring you to tears, I swear you this is sooo relatable in many aspects especially for women - the internal issues in department of civil law, I swear you they have the heroic acts you always imagine to happen in your workplace, someone who can stand for justice - the heartwarming and late-romance of L Infinite AND Go Ara <3 (yeah so very late because in what other drama can you see the 2 main leads started going out only at 1 episode before the last one???). - the cute side-romance of the judge and the stenographer - The cute quality time of L and his mother everyday after he comes home from work, oh this is very cuteeeee I can't stand

You should never skip this drama! Kudos to everyone involved. You did greaaaaat!!!

The female lead is a really strong caracter, with her flaws, but still a very modern woman, especially in korea (she do what I always think other caracter must say/do in other dramas). The male lead is a very well rounded caracter, he is edgy but not rude, he is kinda cute but not mawkish. Great supporting caracters, plus Sung Dong Il is one of my favourite actors. It's frustrating at times because of the high number of bad people that should be especially good, the good people who can't do their job because of them and the silent acceptance of certain situation for the sake of peace. It may seem a dramatization, but even the recent korean cases prove the opposite. P.S. there is romance but it's quite subbtle, it's present in every episode, but it's not the main focus/purpose, still it constantly accompanies you. It could have been a little more strong but this doesn't bother me at all. The only thing that I don't really like are her costumes, totaly unflattering and I don't know why they choosed them

bunny Mar 22 2019 5:48 am The first few episodes are good but I'm starting to get bored. I just finished episode 9 and I dont know if I should continue this or not. Go Ara's character is so annoying, so emotional, reckless and rude. She always insist that she's always right and disregard or belittle others' opinions. I can't stand how she always mock Ba Reun and even their Presiding Judge. I know that she just want to uphold justice but I think her approach is sometimes wrong. It's too hard to believe that there will be this kind of judge in real life. Go Ara's poor acting doesn't also help. She ruined Hwarang for me and she's doing it again. I've read some comments saying her acting improved but I dont think so. There's really something awkward in her lips and the way she delivers her lines. She's good with comedic facial expressions but when it comes to serious and emotional scenes, something doesn't feel right. I hope she can do something about her speech or just stick with comedy.

One more thing, L looks so young as compared with Go Ara. It's hard to believe he's her senior here. Go Ara looks so matured so I think she's better paired with more mature actors.

I think the best case is episode 10-11 which is a true story (I later found out, really inspiring!) on Judge Shim Jae Wan andPastor Myung Sung Jin’s battle against on cheap glue production because it encourages drug addiction among the youth.

There were a lot of comments that Judge Park is very emotional throughout the series. I sincerely think the screenwriter, a judge himself by profession, would like to portray the never-ending frustration faced by the judges in and out of the court. That they themselves may have to accept the injustice outcome despite all the hardwork. That they themselves can also misjudged due to manipulation by the defendant/plaintiff. For the judges, especially in the case of Judge Park, it’s a painful and bitter learning process, but the drama offers hope of not giving up by the spirit brought by the people close to her. Judge Ba Reun went through something similar with a case, biased due to his resentment towards his alcoholic father which he later regretted. In this drama also, many female related challenges have been put forth, either in court or within office. There were also issues with the over burdened administrative staff. Some of the things I learned through this drama.

On another note, comedy shines throughout with the consistent “what is your good idea” chief judge. The too transparent Judge Jung. The lively Judge Park’s family market.

Sung Dong Il & Go Ara re-united again in this drama. Great chemistry.

One soundtrack caught my mind and its been on replay, it’s Ususu by Haru. It was played during the episode 11 which I believe relate a lot to Lee Gaon’s story.

Im a fan of Go Ara and I think she is doing excellent choosing historical event related drama which Im both entertained and learn something new. Like in Reply 1997 there the Sampoong Department Store collapse. Hwarang is an actual historical piece, I was goose bumped when I saw the characters name in Wikipedia. Black was inspired by true events but was not specified.

Either that or Korean scriptwriters are simply tremendous.

Nevertheless, totally looking forward to Go Ara’s next project!

Bill Regan Nov 23 2018 10:35 am A brilliant drama. Typical of the sort of dramas coming from Korea (and Asia generally). Great storyline (s) and lots of twists and turns. The lead Actors (all 5 of them) were excellent and I look forward to seeing them all again in future dramas. Supporting Actors were also great and I will enjoy seeing more of them as well. I know that Korean dramas may not have the finely polished finish of many western films and TV dramas, which I find enduring and oddly enough much more realistic. Excellent storylines without the preoccupation with sex and violence.

The only problem (?) is once you start each drama you really find yourself binge watching to the end of the series. I just love it. Bring on the next one and the one after before I revisit Ms Hammurabi again and again etc

Park Cha Oh Reum which represents Passion, Im Ba Reun who represents the Principle, and Han Se Sang who describes Wisdom.. And all story on this drama is really meaningfull.. I learned a lot regarding the other side of human..

just simply romance made this drama perfect, because audience need focus on story line. LAW!!

Sung Dong Il has been a favourite since I saw him in Hwarang - he never fails to give a brilliant and believable performance.

Go Ara never disappoints, either. Tho the tears in this show were reminiscent of Hwarang. LOL

L - well what can I say? His acting 10/10. His dimples 20/10!!! LOL

Do yourself a favour and watch this show!!

skukian Jul 26 2018 9:18 am its a lighthearted show which is funny and portrays friendship and the life of judges... wat i liked abt this drama: it was a pretty good drama... L's acting has improved a lot and he looks really cute when he smiles! lee elijah is gorgeous and soo beautiful!! i really loved hers and ryu deok hwan's relationship... the rest of the cast was also satisfactory.. there were a few funny scenes and the cases were also interesting.. wat i disliked abt this drama: go ara's acting... she had this one expression with which she acted out the whole drama.. her character also tends to get a little annoying as the drama progresses.. although whatever her character did was right it was a little annoying.... the main leads had no romance and chemistry whatsoever... and i DO NOT consider that as a kiss! the ending was kinda rushed.... it did not have proper closure... overall i'd suggest this as a once watch drama...

Or that Ba Reun may seem cold but actually has a warm heart. It's just seem like a reality. Letting you see the dark side of the world, and knowing there's still light after all. Then...there is no stopping as i felt deeply attracted to the storyline & issues relating to it. The overall acting of the cast were simply good. Let me start by saying that this story is deep. It often revolves around deciding what is actually right & what is actually wrong. What constitutes ‘right’ & what constitutes ‘wrong’. Sometimes what seems ‘right’ maybe ‘wrong’ & what may seems ‘wrong’ is actually ‘right’. In law then where do we stand...in the middle? Or at one of those end? Or is it enough to be seen ‘righteous’? Many questions left unanswered but are for the audience to delve on... This story, as i see it, revolves on the ideas of radicalism- questioning on what life & life decisions entailed. Do we need to go head-on & bang straight-on towards all of these questionable & unjustifiable things in life....? In fact, do we need to ALWAYS do that? (A question for us to ponder & deeply think about in our own life). Are answers in radicalism & critical perspectives always lie in humanistic inclinations? Or are these humanistic issues used merely to justify a radical justification? Ms Hamurabbi too tries to resolve societal & personal issues from the critical & feminist perspectives. Issues of oppression, emancipation, empowerment & liberation among marginalised people in the working world & society (extending beyond just women issues). And how meaningful this story is & how relatable it is to reality... there comes the notion of a ‘wounded healer’....making real sense of what is reality- that in the end, what you had to do is just to take life & walk thru it one day at a time, taking a day as it is, moving on bcos this too shall pass...not complicating things when this is already a too complicated world... knowing that what you have to do is not to provide & give answers but to give your best...to give your all... Probably the judicial court needs such people- the ‘wounded healers’ but for the life of them...their experiences in court & their determination to persist there might in turn hurt them more! Truly a clever story told in an unfolding & interesting way- making it more down to earth & relatable. Go Ara did a good job there...thumbs up. And i am still thinking on this....lol? I am excited....will go on watching this drama....fighting!

I think the problem is not her act anymore, for me, but the character itself. She is the reason why i keep watching till the latest one but then i decide to stop. I can't push myself to see a very emotional and naive person in a dirty place. So, if you are kind of people who will say "this is a battlefield not a playground, so make your very smooth move to every step you'll take. what ideal stays in utopia" leave this drama. but, if you are very please with an ideal thing that only a movie can actualize it, watch it. This is a pretty good drama. :)

I like the way that the story tells in terms of romance. It is deep and touchy. (I am at EP 11) At first, I watched this drama because of L but now i love it in many dimensions. L is cute as expected and his performance is awesome in this drama. Go-ara made the good decision to perform this drama not another one. Her acting is real and this character is much more interesting and suit her. In some episodes i cried and some scen made me could not stop smiling. I would recommend to anyone who like the Kind of ‘feel good’ drama series which made your heart melt and warm. If you expected ton of kiss scens and the leading roles keep falling into the other one arms. This is not for you.

I have no idea about the court, presecutors jobdesc, how the judges deal with the plaintiff and defendant. As far I watch korean drama, the first thing that I look for is whether the story interested me or not. So, here I am, I got something abt the court's life as well as I enjoyed L acting lol.

I'm not Go Ara haters, but I don't like Park Cha O Reum characters. I dont know why, but i only enjoyed the drama if the scene didn't invove or focus on O Reum. When the scene focus on O Reum, i feel disgusted. Sorry, but thats what i feel when watching this drama.

Its too weird to imagine a judge could have character and behavior like O Reum. It also doesnt make sense that her childish/innocent action always beat Im Ba-Reun belief and experiences which is Im Ba-Reun more logic than O Reum. Its so much bullshit come out from O Reum

My best favorit character in this drama is Lee Do-Yeon. I like her character than Park Cha O Reum. Lee Elijah play the role very well

The romance depicts the human emotions rather than robots simply handling court cases and listening to parties involved. It's such a realistic masterpiece and the writer did not pass off romance for the sake of pleasing the viewers. It depicts the fact that people remember some things they have yet to accomplish and forget those things that they've accomplished and that includes first love and its feelings. Nice story, keep it!

LL Jun 01 2018 8:20 am I watched some clips of this drama and got curious so I just went ahead and watched the aired episodes. I planned on watching it after it finishes. L and Go Ara's chemistry! This isn't a Rom-Com but the tension and "will they like each other" atmosphere is certainly there. And they handle civil cases, which doesn't really deal with heavy conspiracy-ish ones like the usual legal ones. I've seen a lot of comments saying they're dropping this bec of Go Ara. Well, it's your loss. We who stayed will enjoy it.

And btw, the title of the English song that gets played is Someday, Somehow by Umb5 (feat. Hodge). The full song hasn't been released officially yet.

Let Jun 01 2018 2:22 am Highly, HIGHLY recommended if you want really good content. Jesus Christ, this drama is one of the best I've watched in a long, long time. Some important points here:

1) Before Miss Hammurabi, I couldn't stand the roles that were given to Go Ara before to the point that I didn't watch many movies and series before of her. This one though, wow, it fits her PERFECTLY and she does it justice. My opinion on her work changed 180º here. No joke.

2) Myung Soo is rocking his role too, it's amazing how much he has grown in his acting skills.

3) The themes of the series. My gosh, you got everything in there and they show you the nice and the ugly faces of the judicial system no just in South Korea but everywhere, and also human nature as well. The gallery of characters is so, so rich that you're just in awe by how can the director show the complexity of even a secondary character who even makes a brief cameo in only one episode. Sample A: Jung Min-Sung's character as the restaurant owner in episode 2. That episode shook me bad. I'm on ep 4 so far and each is a thrill to the very end.

4) Excellent production. Besides the great script (adapted by the book author himself), the directing and photography is a masterpiece. I work in filming production and I have to say that some of the angles the director uses makes you really wonder sometimes if you're actually watching a movie and that's skill. Might not be interesting for many reading these comments but I thought I'd point it out.

Tl;dr: watch it NOW.

At first I doubt to watch it bcs the female lead is olden than male lead. This was the first main lead of L and I'm kinda excited because of his great performance from Ruler Master of The Mask and since then I was rooting for him. I started watching and can't get enough of it. The story line pushes your emotional limits. I'm crying from episode 2 onwards because of its very touching and inspiring scenarios which were very relatable and usually happening in the real world. (The story of oppressed and people that will stand for you.) I am excited for the next episodes to come. Love this drama. You sould start watching it now. Don't missed the feelings it has to offer.

Allie May 29 2018 5:28 pm I really like the fact that this drama is about the judges, with their high ranking status and responsibilities and the procedures they go through in order to get to their verdict. Usually K-dramas in this category are mainly about the lawyers/prosecuters showing off who has the most hidden evidence, and the main role of the judges is to just observe not really giving us the viewer the insight on what they actually do as judges. But this drama does a really awesome job at showing us the viewers that Judges don't just sit around looking all high and mighty, but that their job is pretty darn cool and stress worthy too.

I really think that there is some back story that we are missing which will be revealed in the later episodes! Anticipating it.

If you can't decide whether you want to watch this, I strongly recommend this drama based on the first 2 eps.

There is also a bit of comedic elements in this drama so you will definitely be laughing at some parts. (Don't wanna spoil, so watch itttt)

Plus, go ara actually impressed me in her last drama, so hopefully that's a sign that she's getting stronger as an actress!

Personally I like DO from EXO, L from INFINITE, and Jinyoung from Got7 also that "Radio Romance" guy from kpop group as idols actors. They're doing great in both carriers as popular singers and actors.I watched all dramas of DO and L. They are improving in every each project. I love to see L in this drama very much. His acting was great in Ruler. I can't see bad acting in both leads . So please support the drama,and make comments after watch their recent projects

mayember Feb 09 2018 3:46 am I'm looking forward to this drama. Since watching Kim Myungsoo in Ruler: Master of The Mask, I've been waiting for his new drama lol. Watching Ruler, I wasn't really impressed with his acting about two or three episodes into the drama, partially bc he doesn't look like someone in the old days (you know, modern face and all).

But he really improved so much throughout the drama and it didn't come to my mind that 'his acting is not good' or 'the feel was off' for the rest of the episodes thereafter. And his improvement in the drama made me googled him and now I'm an Inspirit and my UB(Ultimate Bias) is L/Kim Myungsoo (cause you don't get to choose only one bias in INFINITE lol)<3

And though I'm excited about this drama and I'm not against shipping him with anyone, I don't think he and Go Ara would suit each other as a love interest. I don't think they are 'shippable'. So I'm hoping that this won't be a romance drama and I can enjoy watching it without any romance like I had with the drama 'Innocent Defendant'. Innocent Defendant is one of the dramas in my top ten list of best kdramas, but I don't think I'd be putting Ms. Hammurabi in that list lol.

LKB Jan 23 2018 6:25 am Such a bizarre mix cast-wise... Sung Dong Il is a total master in ALL kinds of roles so the younger lot will have one of the best, sweetest mentors ever... Go A Ra just blew up from cheese fest Hwarang and sleek dark sexy reaper Black... L was not amazing but did end up settling into his role and played a really effective/convincing victim of poverty turned friend to the prince turned drug-controlled whiny bratty fake king in Ruler Master of the Mask but otherwise I don't know much of him since idols are a couple generations behind me and I generally don't love them starring in big roles since the likes of Yoo Seung Ho ...

Ryu Seok Hwan I am entirely unenthusiastic about since God's Gift may have been great but he was so SO bad that I was watching all but him in most of the seasons and only ended up completing it for the weird story that he pretty near destroyed... I hope he is very quiet and minimal in presence if he hasn't made the leaps and bounds you expect from an Olympic high jump gold medalist in skill. Lee Elijah I can take or leave though she has ability and obviously guys are not displeased when she is on the screen. Lee Tae Sung is obviously too old to be a romantic interest, but I would have put Sung Dong Il as the lead actor and him as second lead, L third and the other two guys as, say, a friend of a friend of a friend who works in a different province as a prosecutor and public defender who went to school with one of the ladies' adopted second cousins twice removed. The blend of those I would call either skilled and/or talented and the gagmeinstead ones...well, I don't get it.

At least there doesn't seem to be much chance of a love triangle unless she does the whole hot for much older oppa deal...I also hope no romance gets thrown in, at least w/Go Ara. While she can look quite young and princess-like, L can't visually pull off, to my eyes, looking age/maturity I compatible alongside her. If they were both playing 18-20yr olds, not her actually being her own age w/colleagues similar in age, it could work, but he hasn't "manned out" (fleshed out to not look/like a fit youth) yet and won't until military service assuming he doesn't do the promo commercial advertising of the army/marines etc...She is able to look doe-eyed and young or mature but he looks like a little kid and can't really break the pouty little toddler look. It made the mask quite useful to be frank since his features are so youthful I would cringe despite only a two year difference in age.
