A story of women who try to find their true selves, freeing themselves from prejudices in the world.

Seo Hi-Soo (Lee Bo-Young) was a star actress, but she gave up her career to marry the second son of a chaebol family. The chaebol family runs the Hyowon Group. She does her best to fit in as a daughter-in-law of that family. She acts confidently all the time to not to lose her true self.

Jung Seo-Hyun (Kim Seo-Hyung) is married to the first son of the same chaebol family. She is also the daughter of a chaebol family. She is elegant and intelligent. She is also very rational.

Nightowl Aug 25 2022 9:01 pm Lee Hyun-Wook was my favorite to watch. His face is so innocent but he was a terror. Then near the end you find out that he grew up in an abusive household and his mother did not love him. He is an excellent actor and I have seen him in several KDramas and I loved each one that he was in. I look forward to seeing him in other KDramas. The women were excellent also but Hyun-Wook was just the best.

Typical kdrama show sisters as rival this drama show sisters together. This drama the sisters do anything to protect the other sister. The strong females leading is daekbak! all the cast act well. Ha Joon makes me cry he is cute baby. A mother is not blood only.

SPOILER Head maid is crazy after all the family and staffs did for her. real villain and hero. She saved Hi Soo. She belittle the staff. She stalk the family. No diamond for her lol. The family thought one of their own killed Ji Yong and they protect each other. I like this drama over penthouse because the drama uplift minorities no blackface in this drama.

The other actors were superb! It’s full of surprises and at times funny. Getting submerged in each of the characters lives. I really enjoyed this! I have recommended it to others. Hope to see them in other dramas!

Especially with nosy staff like Joo Min-Su ??‍♀️ Poor Hi-soo for everything that she went through ?? everyone except Seo-Hyun lied and betrayed her. This is a good drama but very very very slow in the beginning to point where you just give up watching it for a while and then come back to continue but things picked up at episode 5/6.

LaLa Nov 24 2021 12:13 am This Korean tv series explains how even though a family may be incredibly rich, they can still be deeply unhappy because of the self imposed outdated patriarchal norms and rules of their status. You come to really know, understand and love (almost) each and every one of the main characters. The grandmother and her curly haired daughter are outrageous and funny; the nun with her kindness, no nonsense advice, humble ways and gratitude for all things; the mother(s) love of a wonderful little boy; the outrageous drunken yet somehow still likeable son; the strong young son who lets neither pressure from family or the chance of losing his fortune stand in the way of true love, etc. Also seeing how hard and devoted the servants are to their often times inconsiderate and cruel bosses was eye opening. Great show with many surprising twists and turns, hilarious occasions, suspenseful occurrences, shocking adventures and sometimes deeply sad incidents. I bet you cannot withhold shedding a tear sometime during this series. It was clearly worth reading all those subtitles.

I saw someone complain about the characters threatening themselves with dirt they could use to bring each other down, but never going through with it. It was so they could protect what they desired to get. No one wanted to destroy what they were fighting to acquire for example the company... They were greedy and at least Ms Jung accepted that. She knew she'd never let go of the riches and power even if it meant giving up on the love of her life.

Light Sep 10 2021 8:06 pm Most comments seem to say the plot is lacking and i can see why they think that. However to me that made the drama even better. I was really captivated by the characters and the acting that i found myself watching their every move and rewinding to look at their every tear and smirk just to enjoy it more. A lot of typical kdrama tropes are involved but we see it from a more mature pov from the elders and I loved thay very much ... it almost felt like how you'd feel when rewatchint Disney movies when you're older. And find yourself agreeing that the main characters are indeed dumb and naive and their parents made sense. Safe to say i loved it. One of the dramas that I've enjoyed most.

jajabinz Aug 21 2021 8:31 am (Spoilers) Ive been expecting superb acting from the two main leads.. but didnt expect a lot from Ok Ja Yeon (Kang Ja-Kyeong / Lee Hye-Jin) wow, I'd say i was blown away by her acting.. the hatred that you'd expect as a fake tutor then as a kind mom who onredemption. When the hints were slowly showing that she wasnt that bad, i was hoping that she would team up with the two lead to bring down jiYoung...and oh boy i was so happy it happened.

Oky Jul 28 2021 4:11 pm SPOILERS. I didn’t love the series on a whole, but I loved the 2 main leads, and I loved the positive messages. Even the mom-in-law, whom I was most disgusted with throughout most of this bcs I swear they purposely made her very ungraceful and unwise, finally turned a new leaf - even though it was waaaay too late. I loved the step-mom/son relationship to pieces, but not at first!

Man, they need to cast Kim Seo Hyung in more believable power-grab roles, because this was just not feasible (really? divorced daughter-in-law that still lives with the family and has another love gets to inherit it all? riiiiight...) as well as not powerful enough (always takes you to the brink of checkmate, and then mellows out - like dude, if you’re going to threaten to out her, why the heck did you not follow through? if you have career-and-inheritance-ending info on your bro-in-law, why are you just dangling it over his face long enough so he can counteract it? Ugh!), but I loved where it was heading.

But this series was not my cup of tea. The storyline is there, the messages are powerful, the acting was all really well done, even some of the symbolism was pretty good, but perhaps the writing was just so-so.

Not your typical mother in law to be (seohyun), not your typical step mother (hisoo), and not your typical woman rival (hyejin) . It's really a series about women empowerment. Qween supporting qween. As what Ive expected from the casts, they gave me an unexplainable feeling in a positive way. I love how the story runs. The characters, the plot, the settings, the OST and their outfits as well.

Mine is very detailed, simply yet very intense. Thrill in a great way. Not to loud, I mean the story is not too harsh. It is very understandable. I love how they show Girl Power in this drama.

Even though some episodes did not reveal anything major, I just loved to see the characters on screen & notice how they were all so different from each other. Dialogues were the most interesting here. I even enjoyed the Grandma's convos with the peacock. Lee Boyoung, Kim Seohyung wand Ok Jayeon were spectacular. Each of their scenes were my favourite parts of the show. I was so torn about Jiyong, knowing his past & how his circumstances made him turn so vile. All in all, the ending was satisfying for me too. He needed to go, but I was very sorry for him.

LeeS Jul 13 2021 9:03 pm Can’t watch this, it is too horrifying that deception lies and hatred runs so deep in a Chaebol family, there is no redemption for anyone. Any love is stamped out. Don’t think the grandson and maid was real, won’t last.

Lee bo-Young great as always, I love her. Other parts strong too but the Matriarch grandmother was miscast. She could not carry off bring head of a chaebol family - too rough. So many other seniors would have been better e.g. the mother in Beauty Inside to name one. Didn’t enjoy this as no hope anywhere. Sky Castle had evil and thriller in it and upper class families, but there was some hope and redemption at the end.

2 stars for this one.

Wow, wow, wow! Such tasteful elegance! I could not find any info where was the location of the house and info on the furniture. I had to rewatch several times as I did not want to miss any details... I hope to see season 2.

With all that said, I did not like how they dragged the story for the last few episodes. They kept repeating that same scene all over again and dragged till the finale only to tell you what happened soit was quite frustrating.

Han Jiyong's death still make me confuse even the killer has been known (Joo Min-su) because Joo Min-su wanted to help Hi-Soo from Jiyong . Kim Seong tae also helped to kill Han Jiyong, but finally he regret.

I had suspected the killer from the start, this time my guess was right. Well even though she accidentally killed Jiyong to save Hisoo

I really like this drama because their female character is strong, has an attitude and uses their brain when facing something. This is something that rarely happens in other makjang dramas. Lee Bo Young and Kim Seo Hyung's chemistry as sister-in-law is very touching. Kuddos to the writer!

Her main joy and goal through the show was to be Ha Joon's mother and she had just achieved that. Instead she was cold to the grieving child, shipped him off to another country ... Not quite the picture of devotion that was painted the rest of the series. Also the love story between soo-hyuk and ye Yuen was basically dropped. Interesting series but could have done with lots less ", humorous" scenes and more cohesive plot and character development.

I love how they rise the tension and suspense and how they plotted it that everyone seems like the culprit. The editing is amazing as well as cinematography. Kudos to all actress and actors! Looking at the following chapters, I am realizing that some of the characters are hiding something. According to Seo Hi-soo he lost his memory and does not remember meeting Ji-yong or to Ha-joon, but seeing her she seemed very strange. I could notice that in one of her scripts there is a character who should suffer from amnesia, even in the parking lot she felt a pain in the side of her torso, and in the end the police discovered that she was secretly taken to the hospital by Seo-hyun in the murder. Could it be that she is actually pretending not to remember anything as part of a plan? Besides Seo-hyun wants to get rid of some things from the mansion, she is strange when the detective noticed a cut on her hand and they even discovered that it was she who took Hi-soo to the hospital for multiple injuries. For what reason does she not want anyone to know the truth, or is it likely that she is responsible for her death? As for Lee Hye-jin, I suspect that she did not actually go to America on the night of the murder. I even remember when meeting Seo-hyun and Hi-soo, her gazes seemed like they were doing something we don't really know. Seriously I'm really confused, but I hope there isn't a sad ending. I pray none of them is Ji-yong's killer.

P Jun 16 2021 6:08 pm By the end of episode 7, I am completely engrossed in this series. But not gonna lie that first 3 episodes were boring and a challenge to get myself to continue watching. Maybe I’ve watched too many kdrama, but it was nothing fresh other than the eldest daughter-in-law loving a woman, and as main character to boot (I honestly think they couldn’t have cast a better actress for this role cuz the public love her gender-fluid charm not just outside s.Korea). After the maybe 5 episodes though, man, I am just sucked in! I’m even starting to feel bad for the tutor! She was a victim as well, and I should have seen that from the beginning, but shows like this usually just make her the villain all the way. Last thing I wanna say is that I’m glad the son (hi-soo’s, and well, the tutor’s) wasn’t a complete spoiled brat, cuz that would have made this unbearable to watch. Lol.

Seo Hyung : to be honest, I thought that she wants that position since the first time when she married Jin Ho. She tries everything to keep her position. Hi Soo : yes you loose your baby, but Jin Yong is not only the person who play wrong. Hye Jin, her mother in law, even sister Emma, also lied to her. Jin Yong : for me he is a victim, he loose people's faith so he tried to work hard and gain trust, the bad thing is no one has warn him, and no one is carrying him in honest way. If he is a physcho he will not have his emotion, but what I saw he has it.

Well, I feel sorry for Jinyong and also Hi Soo for her loose, however, it's not fair to blame Jin Yong with all the mess.

Glad I gave it a try , just can’t ignore those veteran actors studded in there. Don’t even have to mention, the acting is a feast point to the spot from every single one. The plot seems nothing much, but the unfolding is gripping, just can’t leave it. It made me check the writer , no wonder this drama is such a good work. Great work team!

Han Jiyong did have a difficult childhood, but that is not an excuse. Being hurt doesn’t give you the right to hurt others, especially innocent people.

He is good to his son currently. However, his cruelty is barely restrained. You may recall earlier in the season, he tried to beat his son for going to the concert, but Hisoo stopped him. When he is angry, his true, violent self comes out so Hajoon is at risk of being abused. Not to mention, he is a bad role model for Hajoon.

Also, he did not simply lie and cheat. He cornered the mother of his child into giving up her baby. He denied his baby medical help until the mother left the child with him. He was willing to risk the life of his son just to get sole custody.

The family members aren’t trying to murder him. They just don’t want him to gain power as that would allow his behavior to escalate without consequences. They just want Hajoon safe and Hwoyon group out of his hands.

Also, we don’t know who killed him yet or the circumstances. Perhaps, it was a self defense incident. I don’t know if you watched the most recent episode yet but he did have a hitman murder one of the fighters so his death is justified in that sense.

Yes he lied, he cheated, but he it was also shown that he did have a painful childhood that probably contributed to his dysfunction. But he is good to son. I cannot pinpoint why everyone is ganging up on him. Each and everyone in the family clearly have their own demons. Does he really have to die?

I really feel bad for Hi-soo but overall I think Ji-young will be the reason she falls off and whoever does as well. Hi-soo is going through it emotionally but I don’t want her character resenting Ja-kyeong because it is mainly Ji-young’s fault with the lies. Anyone in Hi-soo’s position would understand what she is going through and what Ji-young did bringing in JK while lying to HS that she was dead is the reason as to why all this happened. I hope HS and JK builds a better bond to be honest and JY suffers

RAZ May 26 2021 1:00 am Watching these kind of shows is like watching a train wreck. You know it isn't going to end well. I don't dislike any of the actors in this, they are all bringing their A-game. However, it does lessen the stress factor when none of your most favorite actors are in it. Entertaining, yet not as heartwrenching. In that respect, it is the same as Penthouse for me, even though both shows are completely different.

Athough I am not a ST☆RLIGHT (I'm an Aroha), I did start watching this because of N. His previous roles really impressed me. He is a wonderful actor and I will probably watch anything he is in. I do hope his character's storyline ends up ok.

I am warming up to some of the other actors as well, although probably not their characters. Park Hyuk-Kwon usually plays rather bland characters with that one exception — I was very sad when his character Gil Tae Mi was killed. It was the first time I felt sad about the death of a villain. Lee Joong-Ok is quite a good actor. First saw him in Zombie Detective. He gives off this ~little boy~ vibe that is endearing. I hope they give Jo Eun-Sol a better storyline. Jeong Hyun-Jun is delivering a solid performance and I think I will have to keep an eye out for his future roles. Lee Hyun-Wook is probably going to become one of my favorite villain actors. I guess I should wait and see what he picks for his next role though. Shin Sung-Rok used to be my favorite villain until Kairos and now I just want him to play more good guy roles.

All of the actresses are really good though, they are totally killing their roles.

I knew it, Hi soo was the person that was murdered or maybe severely injured idk, I was debating on whether it was her or the tutor but it made more sense for it to be Hisoo since the nun said it was a murder and I believed only the tutor would be capable of such thing out of everyone from the household until this episode. My bet on who killed or tried to kill her is the husband, he was creepy asf this episode, revealed what he is truly like, he's probably the actual main antagonist of this show but for some reason but I'm also kinda suspecting Seo Hyun for some reason idk, I doubt it's the tutor cuz that would be too obvious.

I feel claustrophobic seeing scene after scene shot in the same two or three buildings/locations. But I will watch it for Kim Seo Hyung and Lee Bo Young. If they make Kim Seo Hyung a villain again though... I may not watch it. It makes me cringe whenever her face twitches evilly. It’s one of the scariest look I swear.

I’m surprised she took this role. I was telling my wife that she went from career suicide, to SKorea’s famous actress, and now chose to do again another career suicide because of the role she is playing (no spoilers here, but you can probably just read it in the other comments). But we’ll see how it goes. Netflix is probably the best platform to go bold anyways because of the global scale. May end up working in her favor.

After reading the comments I realized that I'm dumb cuz I thought that the girl Jung Seo-Hyun was seeing in her flashback was her daughter LMAOO but it turned out it was her gf.

There’s only been 2 episodes out and I’m already on my toes bruh. Everything about this drama is flawless so far, I’m genuinely amazed with the casting, cinematography, settings and soundtrack, I could go on for hours of the elements of this series.

I’m definitely impressed with how each character gets explored bit by bit, but I love Hisoo’s character the most out of the others so far. She’s somewhat the most balanced one in the entire household and never fails to insert her witty lines to lighten up the atmosphere and have the last words. If you’ve watched both episodes I think we can all agree how her husband and that d*mb betch will turn out to betray Hisoo and I’m already furious about that inevitable foreshadow.

We’re still unable to connect the dots as to which two characters (obviously the women) were in that bloody scene in the teaser but I’m praying Hisoo is not one of them, otherwise the directors are bizarre to do that to such a good character BUT judging as a penthouse lover we know the loveable characters always receive the worst unfortunately.

I sound like a Hisoo stan and I most definitely am so far lol, I’m preaching for her. This drama is definitely a mix of Penthouse, Sky Castle and The World of the Married (honourable mention, “V.I.P” too) so if you’re a big fan of those type of dramas that leave you wanting for more you should definitely give Mine a chance, I know this ones going to be INSANE... I reckon the ratings will definitely be up there with Penthouse eventually. Can’t wait for the entire series to unveil.

sun May 09 2021 11:10 pm so far the drama is really good it gives the world of married vibe. So far my theory is that the tutor is hajoon's real mom (might be wrong). The title of this show is mine which means the tutor is going to try and still things from hi soo like her son and husband probs rubatto as well. Soo hyuk and yu yeon will sooner or later like each other but due to there different social status they will eventually fight their family to be together. Also emma nun is very sus, seems like she knows something about them from before. I might be wrong but just my theory so far.

Honestly, I careless about everyone else in this drama because it seems like the typical I’m back for revenge kind of type and I just watch for the lesbian parts if there are any left or at least the ex-gf will show up again because darn it, the husband is so ugly and useless.

As for Kang Ja-Kyeong, I definitely do not like her. She has already become a torn in my flesh. I think she is the birth mom of Han Ha-Joon or the sister to Han Ha-Joon birth mum, and she is back to take revenge.

I say this because everyone in the family seems to know her or thinks she looks familiar. When Han Ji-Yong's sister saw her, she stated that Kang Ja-Kyeong looked familiar. When Jung Seo-Hyun introduced Ja-Kyeong to her husband, if you noticed, he looked like he knew her from the past. Also, when Han Ji-Yong's wife told him she had a drink with Kang Ja-Kyeong, his face changed for a second. Finally, when Yang Soon-Hye saw Kang Ja-Kyeong she screamed and was surprised.

Maybe Kang Ja-Kyeong was from a poor family, and they did not want Ji-Yong to marry her and then they tried to kill her (You know how rich people can be with marriage) so she is back for revenge after doing surgery, or it was her sister that they killed and she wants revenge. This is my theory. I have also shared more theories on her character and other characters on my channel called 'Precious Haven'. So please watch and comment on what you think about my theories. Love May 09 2021 3:24 pm So this is my theory: new tutor is actually ha joon’s real birth mother....she and Han Ji-Yong probably used to date and when she found out she was pregnant, she decided to give up her son to him. I think Han Ji-Yong pretended to be poor so that’s why KJK didn’t want to be with him. Her goal is to marry a rich man and have control over everyone...i dont think she comes from a rich family....Then she founds out her baby daddy is actually super rich and that’s when she wants to come back and take back what’s supposed to be hers...she said “if i can go back, i would’ve made the right decision” anyways i hope this is not another cheating husband drama...

T May 09 2021 1:52 pm the tutor is definitely ha joon’s biological mother. She had surgery and is his tutor to get back what was taken from her. The way she tried on her dress, ate the food, swam in the pool and touched the cups makes me think she believes she should be living this kind of lifestyle. Also, when Hi-Soo told her that she wasn’t going to need her as tutor because she found another one she seemed worried and the way she yelled at the maid for telling her what to do makes me think she believes that she is above the other employees because she’s his mom and maybe she comes from money as well. But the older sister said that ha joon was only half of them so maybe the tutor doesn’t come from money.

LEE May 09 2021 11:05 am I'm not actually surprised that Jung Seo-Hyun is gay. I'm probably a little intuitive. Her roles in previous dramas always look like she is gendered neutral.. it always makes me think if she's into girls or guys. but leaning toward girls.. she always portrays this image of a strong woman who doesn't need a man.

Ever since episode 1, i feel like Seo-Hyun controls everything even her husband because her husband looks weak and has an inferiority complex towards his bro. if she was paired up with a strong male presence I probably won't think that she's gay noh? The other sister-in-law is already dealing with the infidelity of her own so i think Seo Hyun's story has to be different and intriguing. i think penthouse or skycastle hasn't tackled this LGBT issue yet.

Jung Seo-Hyun is gay. It would make the story unique if she was gay, I was almost disappointed if she's not because her husband (first chaebol) looks like a Loser to me.. He represents someone who is kind of foolish, a little weak and no backbone.. her wife Seo-Hyun is the one who keeps cleaning up the family's mess.. they don't look like a loving couple. they look like someone who is just trying to survive. its easy to assume that Seo-hyun is gay.. and prefer the company of a woman. strong, independent and classy type of woman like her. someone who could handle her. I don't think any man can fit her standards though.

Im guessing the part where she was looking in the theater..where she remembers something... i think her girlfriend is a ballet dancer who works in a theater. i wonder if her girlfriend end up murdered (shown in the first scene) her husband might end up killing her girlfriend out of rage if he founds out that his wife is gay and is cheating on him. ouch.. her husband already has inferiority complex from his bro and that his first wife left her. imagine, if he founds out that his 2nd wife is gay and is cheating on him. ouch

I'm assuming Jung Seo-Hyun's affair is a GIRL. But the flash back look like the hands of a man. but it would be nice if its a girl, to break from the usual. Seo Hyun looks so classy, independent and dominant than her husband I wont be shocked if she's into girls.
