Hijiri (Kasumi Arimura) dreamed of becoming a teacher. She then begins work as a middle school teacher in a remote village. Her fiance Katsutaro works for a big company. They have dated since Hijiri was in college. Now, they must maintain a long distance relationship, but Hijiri becomes attracted to one of her students.

This drama is mostly about 3 mothers and 1 mother to be (the boss) , all of them grow their children all alone and try to separate the kids from the terribile influence of their fathers (if any exist..). In Italy where I was born, and in Switzerland, where I live, fathers are deeply involved in the growth of their children, it looks like in Japan it's all the way around, is it really so?

Takeuchi Yuko fans Feb 15 2021 11:59 pm I have watched a lot Takeuchi Yuko drama and movies, and become fans of her. She is such a great actress. The way she take his role was invisible and awesome. She got into the the role very good, her emotion, her face reaction, her gesture, are just perfect IMO. Especially for romance and slice of life genre.

Now, She is getting older, but I already found her subtitution. Kasumi Arimura is such a great actress. She is still not in Yuko's acting level though, but yes, she is getting closer to it. Her gesture in her dramas is quite resembling of Yuko in my POV. But she needs more and more experience. with no scandal, controversy, and so on. Please be focus on you acting, Kasumi-chan! You have great talent!

For Director and Producer of J-dramas and Movies, if you somehow need a cast for female lead such as Yuko, but the story requires younger version of her, please consider Kasumi to take the role! For sure, she will doing great!

And, I will looking forward for every romance / slice of life genre of her future dramas and movies.. Ganbatte Kasumi-chan!

If he really loves her then he should have let go of her to make her happy with her life. I’m sorry but no guy who loves you make you go through sh*t. Unrealistic and they really romanticized the story. Anyway I liked the second male teacher she met. When he saw akira and hijiri he let them have space to talk, basically he was respecting their relationship. He even let her go to go after akira even if he liked her. He consulted hijiri and cheered her up many times which is definitely a keeper. Honestly hijiri does not deserve him. Also after 5 years they meet up and get together again and that is also unrealistic, life changes and u meet alot of people so u will get feelings for other people.

For the record, I kind of agreed to some of the comments here. The second lead guy looked so pitiful when compared to a middle school kid. He was an established man; a stable guy who was more than a good guy. It was such a risk to choose uncertainty over assurance. But that was one of the substances of the plot. It made you hold onto that dreamlike promise that destiny was giving to you on its own accord. Maybe that was one of this drama's charms: fate and faith both at its worst and at its best.

Good thing though, that second lead woman salvaged his character before he even hit the ground.

I also had to add the cinematography. Those sunlight-soaking-into-the-floor scenes, notebook letters, hung up 'almost', runaway-lovers, and time, and patience, and slowmos, and fisheye camera takes (which was very creative ngl)—are all Japanese dramas required to give you some kind of "natsukashii" ache in the chest?—are like poetry pressed into a drama. To say that those 11 episodes are like 11 movies in all is an overstatement, but it is safe to say that it is, indeed, close to that.

What can I say? I just adore this drama so much <3

This was an incredible j-drama, definitely a gem to dig for. Two leads’ onscreen chemistry was effortless. It worked even if they were several feet away from each other; it poured out, filling your heart to crave for more. Kasumi and Kenshi’s undeniable chemistry was one of the best, it was like Honoka Miki and Yuki Furukawa, or Kento Yamazaki and Mirei Kiritani feels all over again!

The story wasn’t at all awkward, or forced. If any, it gave you a breath of fresh air, what with its good dialogues, character development, and amazing writing. The pacing of the story was great. SPOILER AHEAD: it was good to know that they didn’t ruin the female lead even if she fell in love with someone younger than him; the way she was redeemed by the story was justified. Akira was just sooooo damn good. I was thoroughly impressed on his expressions, especially that time when they... kis... At some point, I could understand why Hijiri developed a feeling on him—just kidd.

The bottom line is, the story is just so damn good. Wouldn’t miss it for the world to watch it again.

Also, we need a season 2.

Because though the ending was satisfying after all that happened, it still left a void in you that could only be filled once the two leads continued on to their journey of romance. I mean, c’mon... what happens next?

Spoiler Alert! Do not read if you don't want to know what happened in the drama!

This is a good drama but I'm going to give my honest opinion about this

Well, the story is actually good. But let's get straight to the point here! The only thing that I can't understand was, how come the fiancee ends up in a worst state? He looks pitiful for me for the rest of the entire series! A fully grown man was set aside and exchanged for an immaturish young guy? He looks more of a stalker to me! In my opinion, the story could've been better if the fiancee didn't existed in the first place! The second guy scene would be better! And the ending would fit this line of story in my opinion!

Anyways, this was a good drama to say atleast! But the ending could've been if that oath didn't expired at all! This ends up like watching a fairy tale with a happy ever after ending! I mean seriously? 5 years without a contact with each other were already very very long! I'm pretty sure with that guys face, he will be a chic magnet all over the places! I'm pretty sure he will find someone in that alloted times lost!

You see I did the very same thing before when I was still studying, my teacher and I were 7 years apart in age department! I confessed to her but she completely shuts me down! Saying that I'm still young even though I'm already 20 yrs old that time! We're always having a conversation through texting before, but that's just as far as we can go! I went back and forth trying to see if I can somewhat change here point of view about me being young and not serious about her but like what I've said; texting and having a short conversation is just as far as I can get from her. Anyways, she didn't have any bf or fiancee not until 5 years later when I managed to contact her again!

So all in all, the fiancee part was a meh part for me since he ended up pitiful for almost the entirety of the drama, imagine being a fiancee and you ended up being set aside because a boy, a stalker suddenly appeared out of nowhere! Doesn't matter if they were having LDR! And the ending could've been better if the oaths effect didn't waived off by his mother! That way the story would've been more realistic!

Anyways, this is just my take on this drama! It's still a good drama though!

It's actually not her first time to have this kind of role with forbidden love if you already watch her film Narratage... I enjoyed the series... Don't be discourage by those people saying that J-Drama are stereotype and the actors/actress are overacting.... Not all are like that.. J-Drama's and Movies are one of the best because most of the themes are base on reality, tragedy and psychological.... I'm really hoping to see Kasumi Arimura again on another J-Drama like this... 5/5 rating for me

This is just a true love between two people but was objected by everyone because of their age, and I don’t see any crime in this. A very recommended drama. I will rewatch it in the near future.

But really, I am glad that I accidentally found this and gave it a try. After watching episode 1, I really wanted to watch more and more, just when I realized, I finished the whole drama in just one day for my lazy weekend. Despite all the controversial about the forbidden love between teacher x student, and that it received negative critics from few people, this drama somehow makes you feel the connection, true love and pain that they encountered. Very well done. I really wish we could see the continuation of Akira and Hijiri’s relationship after the ending, just a short movie would be enough.

It was really normal to have love with whoever no matter how old the person is. If many people said the pedhophil thing, they must haven't seen till the end. The teacher never abuse or did wrong sexually to the student. In the end, u will know that they have true love, both of them. Hijiri leaves everything just to show how deep her love. their love still there even after 8 years ago .

I'm also a teacher so I know the hard work of Hijiri to make her student in a right path and I also I salute Akira for his true love for Hijiri. At that time, I was strong enough not to attract by my students. Sometimes, I feel sympathy with my students. For my old students at college of nature and science in Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam. This drama gets you hooked to it right after you watch the first episode. The story is highly realistic and the characters as well. It's not cliche at all and it has a beautiful plot. Along with the realistic and amazing characters, the character development in it is also no joke. Really, the cast is doing an amazing job in this drama. This drama is highly mesmerising and it's nothing like other teacherxstudent romance movies or dramas. The OST of this drama is also perfect along with the cinematography which portrays the sceneries of Japan beautifully. Makes it more perfect.

Everyone should watch this drama as everything about it is stunning. You'll really regret missing out on this drama by criticising it jjust by reading its summary without watching it.

Is Kuroiwa and Hijiri feeling is a crime? Is that something they shouldn't? Even they love each other? Don't you think it's cruel?

Loving someone is something that we cannot be force. Even we try to avoid it and push away that feeling, you're heart will goes to that person 'cause heart doesn't lie. No matter how old they are, how young they are, rich, poor, ugly, pretty, handsome, ......their personality, their appearance because Love is Unconditionally.

rrr Dec 04 2018 12:18 am As a high school teacher with somewhat of a similar experience from a student I find this drama creepy. The moment my student showed any interest I shot him down with ignorance and disinterest. He got the message and never let it continue. I even reprimanded him when he tried to find out where i lived. He understood that I don't approve stalking. As an adult, especially as a teacher it's our duty to draw the line so the we can learn from it.

I blame the female teacher to let it continue. It seems like she enjoyed male attention more than her job.

This drama is so really touching too. Very Good Job for casts in this drama. They are so great. Then, I personally like music from "URU". It is so romantic and beautiful.

Although I read some article, it is controversial drama, But I think it is so great movie. KEEP FIGHTING to all artists in this drama. Recommended.

yuuki Nov 24 2018 4:40 am Honestly everyone should watch this. It is not just a fanservice student-teacher romance but it is highly realistic. And the characters are well written too. Akira is the perfect portrayal of a teenager with rebellious, stubborn, confuse, clingy etc. Hijiri is perfect too and you will understand later how she fell for akira. Besides that, shotaro and haraguchi are the perfect character addition to this drama. They aren't simply exist just to serve the main plot but they also have their own story. I can ensure that you will end up care about the four main characters instead of the hero/heroin only.

Episode 5 marks the end of the first chapter and starting from episode 6, Akira will be 18, so let’s see how this goes! very excited for next week

Also, in the preview for episode 5 she gets kicked out of school and leaves the city and nothing has happened between them, only a hug that he did and not her.

I like how the Japanese are interpreting this drama.

About this drama so far it seems very good. I don't have a problem with the age although they could at least make him 16years old but it's a drama anyway It's not like real life.Hopefully they do a proper ending because maybe it's my bad luck but every japanese drama I watch has a bad ending :P

Too bad it isn't getting a good reception in Japan, mostly because of the story's premise concerning the age gap between the teacher and her student. I do feel like they should have aged the student slightly from the manga and made him 17 instead. However, there have been plenty of Japanese dramas and movies that have to do with a teacher/student forbidden relationship kind of genre and they are almost all male teachers and female students. I don't see why they're having a hard time with the subject matter now that it is a female teacher and a male student. I personally am really enjoying the drama and I like the way the story is unfolding. It's being handled tastefully and it's nowhere near as creepy as other Japanese dramas/movies I've seen with the same subject matter. I highly recommend watching it because the dynamic between the leads is amazing. The cinematography and music in the drama also really sets the vibe.

Why do I have the feeling that this is a remake of Jdorama Majo No Jouken from 1996? it is one of my fave JDorama.Anyways i'll still give this a shot.im sure there's still something more in here.BTW Majo no Jouken is a must watch drama.after you seen it, Im sure you'll know what Im talking about the similarity in these two dramas.
