In the Goryeo period, Sun Ok-Nam was a fairy. She came down to this world and took a bath at a waterfall on Gyeryong Mountain. While she took the bath, a woodcutter took her fairy clothes and hid them. Because of this, Sun Ok-Nam could not go back to Heaven. She then married the woodcutter and they had two children together, but her husband died from falling off of a cliff. Sun Ok-Nam tried to find her fairy clothes, but she still could not locate it. Needing her fairy clothes, she decides to wait for husband to be reincarnated.

Now in the present day, she makes coffee at a cafe on Gyeryong Mountain and waits for her reincarnated husband. Finally, after 699 years, she gets a feeling that one of the two men visiting her cafe from Seoul is her reincarnated husband. Sun Ok-Nam is not sure which one of the two men is her husband. She deicides to follow them to Seoul to find out.

Ale Dec 12 2022 5:39 pm It had potential to be something good but it's not. The acting is bad and the writing is a mess. The CGI is horrendous. Even good actors couldn't save this series. With a bigger budget and a decent director and writer it could have been a great story.

Although she did a great job here with her role plus she's really gorgeous in hanbok, I feel like the standout here actingwise is Yoon Hyun Min, he's really good in playing this conflicted character. I also really like Seo Ji Hoon, but that could mostly be because his character is just so likeable (I'm gibing him points though since he played it well enough to be very likeable).

I think the point of this culture is missed by a lot of people-especially those leaving negative remarks about the story line. This culture is Buddhist and fevolves around those ideals. In every part of this story, the ancestry and beliefs in Tao and Buddhism resonate. This is a fantasy. One that depicts the morals and traditional beliefs of this culture-the beliefs in reincarnation, gods, celestial beings are only an aspect of the story. The main aspect in the story is the most important belief they have in their religion besides the connections of fate and ancestry. It's all the Buddhist beliefs in learning, evolving and atoning for one's sins is important in each lifetime and the only way to reach enlightenment.

I truly love the Korean dramas with the gods and celestial beings in all forms. It's so much different then our fantasies because of the religious and cultural beliefs.

First of all, u need to understand this is a light fantasy drama so its obvious there'll be lot of illoillogical facts..Yes with it has many flaws but not that bad... I also hesitated first but after watching this i dont regret my Choice... Its light, cute and heart whelming.. And I loved the ending, finally a drama Where the kind sweet second lead gets the girl and also happy ending for all the characters....

Magic is true - Magic exists all over - Magic - we just forgot who we are!

Normally i won' comment any drama instead i just click a like. But since i read many negative comment about mama fairy, then i want to say how i felt about it...

it's a lovely, cute, funny drama, plus everyone so pretty in there. I like the cat and i like that spoon-worm or a tiny white dragon. The good things is everyone got couple. At start i wondering if the pity ham-suk get dumped by yi-hyun, that will be a really heartbreaking things. And i didn't expect mama fairy husband is geum, and this unexpected plot is something so surprise yet good end.

Mama fairy is just too pretty there where she very never got angry and very gentle, exactly like fairy. Everyone seem perfect there. And Yi-hyun manage to get his mom love in the end, its a good ending. Oh ya, wizard Park character is fun, the talking tone quite funny as well. hahahaha

fighting....love this drama....

MCW is really a great actress but I can't feel the chemistry between MCW-YHM or MCW-SJH, also I thought MCW-SJH age gap is too far. But, personally I think drama were not so bad, the story quite fun and I still can enjoy until the last episode.

missy Jun 20 2020 2:50 am I definitely loved the quirkiness of the drama, it's just fun and light. It's very warm for me. The comedy is somewhat exaggerated and there are characters who are kinda not really directed to the main plot and while they take up some of the time of the show, I loved them. The CGI is not good but not worse, it's kinda actually cute and weird on some parts, LOL.

If you have some time to kill, looking for a drama with a theme of redemption and healing, plus, would want to just laugh at the craziness of some characters, you can try this. The romance, though, is very slow paced and not the main focus of this one, so if you are looking for that, don't watch this drama. If this does not fit to your cup of tea, then don't watch it, as simple as that.

CGI yeah whatever, i need a good romance story so F the CGI don't care if it's good or not. joke are bearable. then i read one comment. from the website that i watch this drama, he said regretting didn't drop the show from ep 1. like what F. then i came here and decide to read the comment. and thank god. i'm not going to waste my time. but i decide to watch ep 16, it's not bad, then i decide to watch ep 15( with skip button ) i realize what will happen to me if watch the whole drama. so if you happen to read this. trust the people in comment section. and you won't regret it to drop this one.

Terrible Oct 07 2019 3:50 am One of the worst Kdrama I've seen in recent times. I decided to give it a try since I read many people say the negativity is exaggerated and my lord they couldn't have been more wrong. Either you guys are dense af or have terrible taste in drama and can't see simple flaws, which this drama is FULL of.

1. Plot inconsistency? Check. There's SO many plotholes and NOTHING gets resolved at the end. It's really pathetic how the writers didn't seem to have given any thought to the plot. The exposition is terribly handled to say the least.

2. Stock characters. Besides the 4 main leads, the other characters are generic af and seem to fill no place besides taking up screentime. If they had simply focused on the main cast this drama could've ended in 10-12 episodes.

3. Moon Chae Won. MCW is a very good actress so it shocks me to see how mediocre she is in this one. She is basically 1 faced throughout. Her character being a two dimensional Mary Stu doesn't help her case either. Plus the constant switching (WTF was that even????) between her older and younger self only intensifies the problem. Completely miscast and misplaced.

4. The absolute worst CGI I've seen - my lord, if I didn't know that this was a paid cable show and if I didn't know that the actors were acclaimed I would've believed this was a VERY low budget production. The CGI are absolutely terrible and feels right out of a 80s film. In fact even 80s seemed to have better effects than the one in this show. I cannot stress this enough - it's a complete disaster.

5. Absolute lack of chemistry between casts with the exception of Hyunmin-Jihoon. A good chemistry between the cast regardless of how they're connected in a drama is a must have for me. This drama seems to lack entirely in that department. Both MCW-SJH and MCW-YHY pairings looked more like siblings than anything. The only saving grace was the bromance between YHY and SJH's characters, which was the absolute highlight of the show and at the end I was surprisingly rooting for them to turn gay for each other because nothing else was working.

2/10. Bogged down by terrible writing this is an absolute waste of a talented cast and ambitious webtoon.

I'm now just commenting Bcoz some ppl Mentioned that it's underrated and totally negative comments! watching it whie running pisses you more than watching it continuously !! Story has many loopholes till 8 Eps director doesn't have clarity ,it became boring they would have better story I didn't liked the flashback which is really really silly and repeated comedy line..nothing fun ,Just watch if u want to waste ur time, It will piss you if u hate watching nagging dramas or irrelevant story dramas

The main issue was the low budget. The special effects were bad...very bad. If they had enough money, I'm sure this drama would have been amazing. Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter had a great premise and I'm so disappointed that they weren't able to afford better costumes, locations and special effects. I really want a remake.

Kang Sora would have been great in this but Moon Chae-Won done an exceptional job and did not disappoint. I was happy to see Seo Ji-Hoon again too.

jiji Jan 19 2019 7:50 am Enjoyed watching this drama. Unique story for a fairy tale. Loved the bromance so much and the theme of friendship and redemption in the end. Although the CGIs could have been improved and the production could have added more budget to this drama and although the writing could have created this more fantastic and a real masterpiece if it had only focus on the story behind those amazing lessons that this drama offers that are so hard to find in other kdramas, it is still enjoyable to watch. Will watch this again, because I really had fun with how the webtoon writer played with its quirkiness plus again the deep messages that had warm my heart.

Ending Resolution: 10/10 ('cause I literally cried as it was so close in the end and I was surprised that I will shed so many tears for the Episode 15)

Acting: 9.5/10 Story: 9/10 (unique, heartwarming, fun plus the good and deep messages, however there are some scenes that we could say are just dragging on the first few eps and could have improved it as I already said but nevertheless enjoyable as a whole) Music: 8/10 (the OSTs are really really good but i need more soo) Rewatch Value: 10 ('cause I loved it)

Overall: 8.5/10

Not a masterpiece, but will surely leave your heart feeling warm. :>

- UNDERRATED and HAS EXTREMELY EXAGGERATED WORSE REVIEWS. - Unique and much far better than the who-is-the-husband-game it is suggesting. - Has twists (not really twists as they are plots that was given hints from the very first episode) that makes it kinda unique and deep from other kdramas and fairy tales that are just full of rainbows. - The moral of the story is far far far and way way BETTER than 'some' rom-com cutiepietotie kdramas. - As cute and light as it may suggest from its teasers, the lessons are kinda deep tho. - More than a romance cliche genre of kdramas (one of the reasons why few people did not like it) - Very quirky supporting characters (I know many of here are not fun with them, but I just laugh so hard at them) - CGIs are NOT GOOD but DEFINITELY NOT THE WORSE. I got disappointed at first on this one, but good thing that I didn't let myself be discouraged. Yes, it's sometimes weird but it kinda become charming tho and besides you did not watch a drama just for the CGIs. Plus, the budget is not that high so. - Acting? Each character holds their own charms. But to be honest, I didn't like the male lead at first (first two eps) because of the funny acting, but good news, it improved and I got to like his acting when his character reach its complexity. - BROMANCE. A lot of good good good brotherly friendship and romance. - Sweet story line from the first half and going deep on the second half up to the end with the theme of redemption. - Matured characters enough to confess what they really LIKE. - Cute romance love story. - Good laughs. - Pretty enjoyable. - Is capable of giving your heart a warm squeeze. - By the way, as you go towards the ending, you will realize that its other main theme is based on the LOVE STORY OF FRIENDSHIP.

Should you watch it? It depends on your taste, but as for me I enjoyed it really and I fell in love with how things turn out in the end.

I just didn’t believe that i wasted my precious time for watching this drama. The lead actress Chae won was so pretty but she wears only two clothes for whole movie. The plot twist was tooo absurd. And the ep 15 was so annoying. The only thing that made me happy was Mina& Ahn Youngmi. They were both so funny and so cute. Also they acted so well.

KI Jan 09 2019 11:29 am I highly rec this drama ..I give it a 10/10 ..the couple I was rooting for won, and the plot was unique and interesting...really kept me on my toes and putting my detective skills to use trying to put together all the clues. I don't agree about it being draggy...I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a breath of fresh air to watching something different.

Lim Jan 07 2019 12:40 pm The first episode is interesting, and then the pace is going reaaalllly slow after that. Too draggy. But it suddenly so rushed on ep 15 (which is near the ending). There are only 2 reasons why I really really force myself to finish this drama even though im frustrated as hell: curious about the mystery and I love Seo Jihoon. The relevation episode (15th episode) is actually really ridiculous for me, I'm watching it thinking "meh what kind of story is this" all the time. The message is good but the execution is really bad, there are some forced "funny" scenes too, which I find really annoying and out of place. (+too much flashback scenes, it should have been divided equally on the earlier episodes) The female lead is so bland, dont have much impact, and she almost wear the same clothes and hair for the entire 16 episodes (smh it makes me frustrated as well). No character development of her. Too many unnecessary characters such as the 3 idiots. The CGI oh God its really horrible. Very not recommended drama. (But just watch it if you want to see an eye candy aka Seo Jihoon)

This drama left me with so many questions (maybe I zoned out since I was really bored): 1. Park Shim Seon had three beans that would teach him lessons in life since he lured and broke so many hearts of women and was selfish. Where was the third bean? Did the beans serve the purpose of molding his character? I didnt see any development in his character. He was still annoying. He had these three beans for the longest time then why did he only use the 1st one when he was stuck in the train tracks? 2. The three fairies, aka three stooges, were companions for hundreds of years. Why did Park Shin Seon and fairy Oh only became a couple only this time around? For me, this was only a filler to the drama. 3. Master Gu and Kim Geum's mom are from the same town. They are already familiar with each other. Why did they also became a couple just this time around? Just because they shared a meal? I just felt this was also a filler to the drama. 4. I cant understand the sense of the additional punishment to Kim Geum as Wind Fairy. He was concerned about the Fire Fairy. He already was willing to exchange his immortality in exchange for the safety of the Fire Fairy, thus, already paying for her wrongdoings on her behalf. Why did the Master of Northern Star had to share his memories to another man (this time the reincarnation of the fire fairy/professor Jung)? If the Master was also concerned on the fate of the Fire Fairy, why did he just not remove the Fire Fairy's memories of her past life if the Master has this capacity? He was able to remove the woodcutter's memories. This could have avoided the revenge of the Fire Fairy and settled her soul. 5. So whats the rule in reincarnations? Is it really possible for you to have the memories of your past life? 6. Whats the sense of Kyung Sool's character? Only to drive for the red-haired fairy?

Yes, episode 15 did explain what happened but it didnt make sense, at least for me. Maybe I was used to other dramas that had many layers to discover as it progresses to keep me interested as a viewer. This drama didnt have that element for me so it was really painful for me to watch until they revealed it all in this episode. The flashbacks in the earlier episodes didnt serve me well, again, at least for me.

I mean it was a happy ending what's their to complain? The story was actually great it's just that the graphics wasn't that good. I enjoyed it. So for those who hesitate to watch this regarding on the bad comments please don't hesitate to watch it coz the story was actually great.

juniper Dec 30 2018 12:31 pm Among a catalog of Korean shows, I have watched this would be the one where I didn't feel an iota of satisfaction as there isn't a single moment where I genuinely laughed, felt sad or got angry. All that said, I briefly fell asleep a couple of times, because the drama is boldly bad, yes, but also boldly boring.

I've finished this drama few days ago and I must say I loved the ending and I love the overall messages of the drama. Should you watch it? It surely depends on your taste. But if you are looking for a drama that would warm your heart and heal your soul? The lightness, comedic style and very very heartwarming story behind the pasts and reincarnations of the lead characters as it reveals towards the end will surely warm your heart. :)

Surely this is not your typical kdrama. :) I won't argue on other aspects especially on the CGIs because they are not what I watched on this one. :)

jlynn Dec 30 2018 3:48 am I was hooked to this kdrama, im not a fan of noona relationship drama..but i watch it because of MCW, people have diff opinions but for me the main leads sparks a very cute and innocent chemistry..its a light drama, but the mother-children and father-children scenes makes me cry..they executed the feels so flawlessly..i cant believe why they have low ratings..but for me i super love it enough to finished it in 2 days...

Far from it...I can at least name 5 other dramas that were worse than MFATW. Hint: bad acting is what made me drop those shows. I just can't stand bad acting. This drama's main flaw is that it was poorly executed. It could have been an awesome show if only they didn't drag things till the last minute. Great cast overall (probably the saving grace of the show imo) that perfectly nailed their characters. Seo Ji Hoon is a revelation and sure is promising. If I first came for MCW, I stayed for this talented lad..I'll look forward to his future projects from now on.

To sum up: + Talented cast with good premise, Geum (such a sweetheart), Fairy Yiji (interesting backstory and good acting from the actress) - Cringey CGI, obnoxious/unfunny three stooges, dragging the husband's revelation (as for me, I read the webtoon beforehand so the ending didn't come as a surprise), Kyung-Sool (useless character)

@jeomsoon and others- sorry to say but imho YHM aka Prof Jung doesn't have better chemistry with MCW aka Ok Nam. Being closer in age doesn't mean more sparks. This drama is more the cute/heartwarming/innocent type...that's why I didn't expect steamy/sizzling chemistry and make out sessions between the leads (production stayed true to the original source after all--> only pecks). Geum and Ok Nam (despite their 11 years age gap irl) still managed to sell me that fairy romance.

Lastly, I would give this drama an average rating of 6.5/10....it was an okay watch.

lase Dec 28 2018 10:52 pm I do not understand Korean dramas obsession with love triangles its like they cannot make a good TV show without it for me when I started Kdrama I didn't care much of it but the same damn 2 guys one girl or 1 guy two girls cliched plot keep on popping up to the point its extremely annoying at times it gets me to thinking is there gender imbalance in S.Korea's population and that's the reason they keep on creating such type of content.

This is the show that made me completely lose my shit on this second lead cliche and the writers certainly have a knack on how to annoy audience to their extremes.

Grimm Dec 28 2018 4:17 pm This drama was good at first but fell off towards the end the mystery (well written) but it felt like it got caught up in that aspect and tried to wrap up loose end correctly in a rushed manner the ending confused me. If I can compare this drama to another it would be “Bride Of A Water God” both are great but not as they could have been. The cast performances was great loved Moon Chae Won as usually. I hope Yoon Hyun-Min get the lead role that gets the girl his acting on point. Jeon Soo-Jin I’m loving her but her character in this was trash. I’ll be on the look out for few other cast members works.

jammer Dec 27 2018 5:21 pm Aside from the acting part, yes you can call this show the Worst Drama of 2018 starting from support cast what is even point of them being in this show aside from just making filler scenes, then comes CGI I understand that this is just a TV show and the budget will be a constraint but still its not even remotely acceptable, then to the main story which is completely absurd and its just a miracle that web comic version got adapted into a TV series.

I tried at first for the sake of my favorite actress, Moon Chae Won. But that drama is way too bad. Plot is bad, twists are bad, graphic is the worst, like low budget drama. Utimate love towards Moon Chae Won becoz of her past legency works such as Princess's Man, Innocent Man, War of arrows etc. But this time, even she can't portray the charter quite well.

Who was to blame for this situation is it me who decided to start the show after seeing stunning Moon Chae Won in the trailer, or is it the writer that is at fault for writing a poignant story or is it the producer who accepted to fund this show hoping that it will be made into a stunning hit or is it the K-Drama viewer base who are demanding such type of cliched content. In some ways it is understandable because it is presented like it is a romantic comedy while in many ways it is not. I thought early on it was mostly a story about the two male leads and I would say that is mostly right. It is probably hard to stick a non-romantic story about two men into a genre. While I find some of the religious/philosophical reasoning underpinning this series problematic, I do recommend this series. It's a pity there isn't a better way to describe it.

(I skipped through the drama for the most part, so I may have missed some details) However, for the first 12 episodes or so, the main focus was on the relationship between him and ON. (SPOILERS) Him being the villain came out of nowhere in the few final episodes and his problems that weren’t explored in enough depth were resolved just as quickly. It would have been better to establish him as a villain early on so he could get proper character development. And if the drama had not focused on him so much as a romantic lead, but a protagonist who has their own character arc, it wouldn’t have been this disappointing.

The concept of afterlife in this series is complete bonkers they say main lead is a reincarnation of red lady so why in the world is she still existing as a separate individual and manipulating the main lead actions.

Personally, I just wanted all the characters except Jeon Soo-Jin the psychiatry doctor to get the hell out of main leads life circle that shows how much I personally hated and was annoyed by the all the other main and support cast characters.

In the end personally, this show made me hate the second leads in kdramas even more and also made me get irritated at Moon Chae-Won whom I like as an actor.

Before seeing ep 14, my theory was that one way for the red fairy to have her revenge (for the betrayal) is to make her believe that KG is her husband, interfering in the memories of each one. At first I thought that Professor Jung was the reincarnation of the red fairy, but no, he has been possessing it so that he could also interfere in another way. I do not know how far his power comes, but he is using it. It is causing KG to have a sweet dream and then wake him up in reality and he will have been tricked ...

Of course, the theory that both are husbands I have also taken into account, could be a possibility. I have not read the webtoon, but as I read, the PJ is her husband and they are making us doubt.

if they realize, missing two episodes, I do not think they'll reveal who is who before, so I do not see any sense that KG is her husband. He may be the fairy yes, but PJ is the woodcutter. PJ deserves to be happy with his family.

That blessed egg had to recognize KG as his father to confuse us, but PJ recognized JS(his daughter xD) but the egg is supposed to be the eldest son, so how could PJ be his father if he recognized the other? Does the huebo have an identity problem? The same KG has memories of JS (who is not supposed to be his daughter) so he may have memories of someone else ... You also have to take into account what the monk said to PJ "you are not like them" there is something there.

I will continue to believe that my beautiful PJ is the woodcutter, her husband. Let him be happy.

Mj Dec 20 2018 4:30 am I would like to think the woodcutter is the prof and geum is really dubhe...prof is just human... in the fairy world, geum is fairy ok nam's first love...but izy manipulated the human world so that fairy ok nam marries the woodcutter...now in the present world, izy makes the prof think he is izy...but as the monk said, he is not one of them ( he is human, not a fairy)...now, fairy ok nam has to choose between her first love, geum and the prof, her woodcutter husband from 600+ years ago...personally, I'd like her to choose the prof... he actually has a good heart, he provided accomodation to Geum, his mom and the fairy trio... it's just that his pitiful pass kinda screwed him...geum was a fairy anyway, and has got lots of charms, he can always find another pretty gal to fall in love with...

At the start, I did not care much for the actor doing the prof character, he doesn't seem handsome enough...but upon watching the episodes...he was meant to look the character he was portraying...and his character seems to deserve fairy ok nam...

I just wish the drama would turn out the way I imagine it...my apologies to those who are for Geum-Fairy Ok Nam...well, I guess, it's 'to each his own' preference...we just have to respectfully give way to each other's point of view :)

The drama is about his past lifes, his point of view, karma, etc. Its true that there is kinda unusual when the male lead doesnt get the FL but it happens sometimes. In the other side, geum didnt do much for the story other than being a sweetheart who is waiting his oppurtunity and then get lucky

Kim geum is potrayed as the lead since episode 1, Yoon hyun min was side lined like a second lead, therefore i failed to understand why he was potrayed as lead ( i cant say what the story will turn out as its still 2 episodes left). Bottomline Fairy loves Geum ( bause/ Dubhe) so its only him she will end up with. And people expecting that Bause will be Professor are hoping in vain because there's enough shown scences where (Dubhe or KG) has memories of the woodcutter. Even children aknowledge him as father. I pity Professor Jung though , but i guess he will be ok with Ham sook.

My theory is that he went down to find Ok nam and became a woodcutter (the woodcutter that was asking for the winged dress from the deer) but he really isn't the husband of Ok Nam. It could be that Bausae and his husband ended up dying on that cliff. Bc both of them has flashbacks of being the woodcutter. Idk i cant wait for the last 2 eps.

I dont know but i still belive the Prof Jung is the main lead here. The story focus on him so much. Still hoping for a twist!

wwe Dec 18 2018 8:03 am Kims right....script writers put a twist to this fable/webtoon...likely character for OH to viewers would be hands down KG and not PJ (episode 13) but what if the past (flash backs) was re-written through OH eyes/memories for us to see. Flashback starts off with PJ as the woodcutter and as the drama progresses OH starts to miss/have feelings for KG and flashbacks become KG woodcutter.

Question is, how will OH decide who to be with if faced with both conclusions? husband or her 1st true love?

This is the story of the fairy and the woodcutter after all. If i am the writer, I will write it this way and not follow the webtoon. Prof Jung is definitely the first male lead here. I’m just disappointed why they should follow the webtoon’s story. Very predictable. Still hoping prof Jung and Ok Nam will end up together though. Who knows?

I haven’t watched a single full scene of the extra three stooges. They’re entirely irrelevant and have zero emotional depth and just make lame jokes. The main love triangle is similarly useless to invest in. All three have betrayed or hurt each other in some life or the other. It’s a mess. With no real happy ending. Only thing to root for is that: Prof. Jung finds emotional peace and a sense of acceptance as he is swimming in centuries worth of abandonment and resentment. The kids are reunited with their father. The mother finds her wings and a way back to her real home (fairy realm). Jeom Soon (the daughter) gets a happy ending and isn’t hurt by that creepy stalker boyfriend. Oh and let’s not leave Prof. Lee hanging (the coolest psychiatrist ever). Give her a definite end and also some more sense in figuring out her patients’ real motives and issues.

pastelblues Dec 17 2018 10:52 am At their worst, the woodcutter is the devil incarnate and the fairy a moron in the legends. In the manwha, they are slightly more likeable as a couple that were destined to be together and in love for all eternity. With an unnecessary, convoluted, unfair love triangle added in for spice ofcourse. Show is pretty much just following the manwha so far, which also misled/confused its readers purposefully on who the husband could be.

I only hope they give a fair ending to all characters in the show. Hell to mad manwhas. We are tired of rude entitled male characters with hidden candy hearts or love triangles where characters are lead on unfairly and screwed over or (forced)comedy that is not actually comedy.

This was an oddball of a drama from the outset, the way it was directed didn’t do it any favours. But it’s saving grace are it’s wonderful cast ensemble, and consistent nonsense and lightheartedness that some viewers desire in their shows to relieve real life stress.

Actually hes the most pitiful here. In the beginning he didnt even care to her, but she kept on coming and even appeared in his dream saying they are destinied to be together just to be dumped when hes completely falling in love with her?

And also about the male lead isnt it to obvisious to see since prof jung is the only character with development here. Funny to see many people complain about his screentimes with its clearly he hold the biggest secrets of the story.

The whole drama so fair has been around Professor Jung's feelings, his past life and karmas. Professor Jung is still a lead, even tho he won't "get the girl" or whatever cliche thing everyone always use in kdramas to consider an character lead worthy. Lol

But Kim Geum was a character webtoon fans always loved (him and Jeomsoon are fan favorites, for sure), and this shows when we see netizens reactions lol he is loved, and Seo Jihoon is doing a good job...

KG and ON looks cute together and it really broke my heart at the ending scene of ep.11 but seeing ON having feelings for KG at ep.12 gave me high hopes. Also, Jeomsoon is really close with KG and Jeomdol calls KG his father. Four more episodes to go and I'm hoping that I won't get disappointed with the ending.

Guinevere Dec 13 2018 7:21 am Well, I started watching this drama mainly for Moon Chae Won...the plot caught my eye at first but it got fairly boring and messy midway (I'm trying my best to catching up at the moment >_<) I'm team Geum for the husband (if production follows the webtoon to the letter, he's the woodcutter and thus her husband) Geum is selfless, kind and caring with his loved ones, even strangers unlike Jung (he has abandonment issues, is selfish and only care about himself + I'm fed up with the broken hero's trope who needs the heroine's love to overcome his sad past)

I know that most people are rooting for Professor Jung because Yoon Hyun Min is a more seasoned actor and is supposed to be the main lead here (I was expecting him to be the husband tbh and was surprised at the twist<---THIS was before I read the webtoon) Also the fact that people are uncomfortable with the real age difference between actors MCW and SJH (11 years) doesn't help either...As for me, it doesn't bother me, I still root for this couple (they have sweet chemistry imo). Blame it on the production for misleading us on who is who haha Now just hope they will give justice to the original source, they can't change it last minute just because YHM has more starpower than the other actor (it wouldn't be fair)

(that saved the deer and fell in love with OH bearing 2 children) and KG is the woodcutter that took over his PJ's death off the cliff, to be with OH and retrieve the wings back from the deer. The fire fairy (lady in red dress) is seeking revenge to KG love for OH and not for her in fairy realm thus getting blamed/banned for OH not returning.

So now fire fairy is pushing PJ to revenge on KG for his death (i think hes involved with the cliff accident) and his parting from OH and his children.

We never saw the face of the dead woodcutter at the bottom of the cliff yet they showed us KG as the woodcutter asking the deer for the wings back!!!

Dont care how hey twist this classical korean folklore, PJ is the husband OH is looking for!!! OH and KG were in love in the fairy realm only!! cause if they change the ending...then id like to watch little red riding hood kill the hunter and marry the wolf!! lol

please end this drama quickly cause im hitting the FF button more often now!!!!

I like this type of female lead..sweet, kind, innocent and polite.

Everytime I think I solve the mystery of who actually the husband, they end up giving a new hint and plot twist..and I end up with more questions..its challenging and I like it!

Kim Geum is so pitiful...! I could not stop sympathize him if he is the forgotten husband..poor innocent soul. Btw, his voice is like Lee Chun Hee isn't it?

PJ - human woodcutter. (caught in the middle of a fairy love triangle) KG - wind fairy heartbroken that fairy OH cant return from the mortal realm. FIRE fairy - deer, liked OH but OH and KG liked each other, splitting them up by

        keeping OH on earth without wings, keeping KG to her self...but then 
        betrayed by KG and banned from the fairy realm.

The deer is the key to the story line, manipulating the reincarnation of PJ and KG to keep punishing/separating OH and KG!! PJ is just an innocent wedge in this game of revenge!!!

He knew Geum likes the fairy first and just tell him to leave her alone because he decides to love her too and tell Geum like that, as if it was nothing. For me It isn't the right way to tell your friend, that you have feeling for they same person and I don't think, he has the right to say to Geum to give away his love since he was first anyway. Geum was too kind until now to always let Hi-Hyun have and make what he wants

And the wind fairy was punished by a white-haired old man for making the two fairies broken hearted and sentenced to be sent to earth.

(Time skip) the water fairy go to earth to take a bath in the waterfall, but there was a criminal (fire fairy) who was hunting deer (wind fairy) so that deer could not approach the water fairy. Then the deer was saved by a wood cutter, then told him to go to the waterfall, the deer stole fairy clothes on the grounds that the fairy stayed on the earth, the wood cutter liked the fairy by lying that his name was dubhe to the fairy, after they were together and like each other and get married, the fairy cannot show who he is because he has been punished as a deer.

Now, turned into a situation that confused the water fairy, why? Because the wind fairy behaves the same as a wood cutter when he becomes a deer so that the water fairy remembers him like a wood cutter because he knows that the wood cutter (yi-hyun) lost his old memory. The fire fairy reincarnated in Yi-hyun's body and gave a distance between the water fairy and the wind fairy, but the wood cutting soul was actually always disturbed by the fairy like refusing to reincarnate with the fire fairy.

This in my opinion, the true love of the water fairy is actually a woodcutter (yi-hyun).

aarontruong Nov 28 2018 3:15 am just finished episode 8 and this drama got me confused....but heres what i gathered....wind fair (kim) betrayed the fire fairy (shrink/modern day) in the fairy realm for his love for mama fairy, thus getting the fire fairy banned from the realm....she seeks revenge by stealing mama fairys wings, disguised as a deer only to keep mama fairy from returning back to the wind fairy in the realm...thus setting up jang to fall in love on earth and to keep mama interested in jang is when the deer mention to say the name "dubhae"...the egg (brother) can only be activated by mama fairys husband OR A MORTAL!! thats how kim did what he did to the egg...as kim can talk to animals!! jang is no god/fairy, just a normal human reincarnated to mordern day....as for the lotus flower (supposably only blooms to mamas husband in the full moonlight) in kims room blooming its only because jang was there aswell in the room (not just kim) as the flower nodded "no" when asked by kim if "your alright?"...jangs memory as the husband/wood cutter is suppressed by the traumatic upbringing...as for the kims dreams of mama fairy is probably the love he lost when she didnt return from the lake ...as i think he watch on from a distant (too late) as mama/jang and 2 kids were to strong to break apart their bond as a family (thats how he knows abt the satchel hang on the tree and the deer warning that the wind fairy might be disgusing himself as the husband!!)...well thats my theory!!! ty

The show was confusing at the start but the story hooked me so did the chemistry between the fairy and kim Geum. I think the only downside of the show is the unnecessary characters and scenes. Some scenes seemed very childish..it could have been shot better than they are already.

Eventually, a "deer" saw it and want to save the fairy's. So the thugs realized that the deer want to do something to stop them, thus they want to kill the "deer". 2. So the "deer" run for his life and meet the woodcutter, and ask the woodcutter to save him. Then after that they went to the waterfall and the woodcutter fall in love with mama fairy (maybe). So, the woodcutter took the winged robe or stolen by the thugs idk (maybe). Then, the deer want to repay the kindness of the woodcutter by saving his life from the thugs, so the deer said to him "say your name is "dubhae", if the mama fairy asked what is your name. (this is just my assumption because from episode 5 or 6 when the flasback started i can see that the woodcutter face show he was lying about his name because his was too nervous to say it.)

-So, 699 years ago, i think the deer is the fairy kim geum infact that fairy kim geum disappeared in the fairy realms. The woodcutter is the real husband. -Jeom-Dal(currently inside the egg) might be the son of Fairy Kim-Geum and mama fairy (maybe) or maybe Jeom-Dal was the son of the woodcutter and mama fairy but died or disappeared for a short while and comeback after that ( because remember when Kim Geum asked Jeom-Soon how did she know that Jeom-Dal is her oppa then the flashback started showing that suddenly an egg appear with name Jeom -Dal wrote on the note.) and mama fairy was not surprised at all instead she hug the egg and said Welcome back!

and what is so confusing is the present day is Yi-Hyun and Kim-Geum. 1. Kim-Geum can talked to the plants,animal and etc.. same like the woodcutter 699 years ago ( remember the moment when the deer asked the woodcutter to save him ) 2. Kim-Geum might be the reincarnation of the dubhae(the fairy) or the woodcutter but why Jeom-Dal only reats when Kim-Geum touched him and calling him " abeuji ". 3. Yi-hyun might be the reincarnation of the woodcutter of the dubhae(the fairy), why? because remember episode 3 or 4 when Yi-Hyun saw mama fairy in the Fairy Robe with the love shape hair. Because as far as we know that only in the fairy realms that mama fairy will look like that. So, its confirm that only a fairy will know how other fairy look like or dressed. Because the woodcutter only see mama fairy as a normal human in a normal robe. 4. The last epi 6 scene was very confusing tho haha because suddenly kim-geum flashback showed us that he was with mama fairy long time ago hugging each other ( this is might be imagination of kim geum or maybe its real) because we can see the reaction of mama fairy when kim geum hugged her, she gave the confusing reaction and suddenly remember something reaction in the same time.

hahhaa so this is just my review about this drama so far..

Mostly, what bothers me is the fact that the fairy in old lady shape, should they be like always young? sasian truong Nov 21 2018 8:26 pm this drama is good but annoying in the way that mama fairy really was in love with Kim Geum due to the fact that Jung used a name related to her past crush with Kim (before her 1st encounter at the waterfall with Jung)....but Jung is the reincarnation of her husband and theres no stopping her love for her husband no MATTER her previous love to anyone else past or present...yet there seems to be some sort of past memory clash between the present brothers (im up to Episode 6 by the way) and Jungs memorys are somehow crossing over to Kims as he starts to remember things that (i think) belongs to Jung only...maybe some sort of trauma up bring in their childhood brought about this memory swapping?

Your version is "Jaka Tarub" but in my place in Indonesia, we have similar story as well but not "Jaka Tarub". If even in Indonesia, we have many different but similar versions, it's more than possible they have different versions in different countries. Research first before demanding permission. You brought the name of Indonesia after all.

The legend of heavenly maiden (or swan maiden in west) is almost found in every country with different setting. There are woodcutter in Korea, herd boy in China, fisherman in Japan, Jaka Tarub in Indonesia (sorry, I don't know his profession). . Whatever the man's profession is and the woman's being (either swan, or fairy, or buffalo), one thing for sure the story would flow with the male character spies the maiden typically by some body of water (usually bathing), then snatches away the feather garment (or some other article of clothing), which prevents her from flying away (or swimming away, or renders her helpless in some other manner), and they then married. . . So, please don't make yourself look st*p*d by claiming that the drama is loosely based on your folktale and they should ask for copyright.
