I'd even call (yes, we didn't have mobile phones back then) my best friend to talk about the episode while spazzing over KimuTaku. He was such a big household name and was every woman's dream back then. Aww, good times <333

Minami was heartbroken because she was left at the altar. She tried to find her fiance to his apartment and only found his roommate, the pianist, Sena. Her condition was very bad because she has given up a lot for the wedding. Now she's penniless. She used to worked as a model but age is creeping up and she didn't get any job. Sena felt pitty and though reluctantly, accepted her as the new roommate. Minami's reckless behavior and clumsy nature really bothered the perfectionist Sena. But through many problems they face, their feeling started to grow. What happened when Minami's fiance return? Will Sena get the attention of the pretty musician girl that Sena obsessed about?

You really gotta watch this classic piece of dorama. The songs, la la la song and other piano composition are just splendid!

dea Mar 06 2018 12:35 am I watched it for the first time when it was aired in national channel (i was only like 8 yo back then) and still sometimes re run it (now i'm 28 yo) but still feels like this is the best romance jdrama ever.

You can never forget the La La La Love Song (even it often being played as BGM in romance funny scene in other dorama XD ) even my husband, who never watch the show, he feels familiar with the song :D it's so iconic

nagari Dec 24 2014 12:40 am i was in college when i saw long vacation. i never like j-dorama, but this dorama is different. there such happy moment, funny moment, sad moment etc. i dont know which episode as minami wearing bunny costume and she dancing in front of sena kun. i also remember when sena kun is running to chase minami, but suddenly minami is going out with tsukikagi by a car and minami only can watch sena from distance. that is so cool .. and once again long vacation is really best drama.

Hope they will make the remake (although i believe that the remake will never ever beat the original) it is just perfect drama with perfect actor/actress, perfect plot, perfect soundtrack,,,,,i watched this drama when I was in junior high school,,,and i watched it again in my 27,,it is just classic and wonderful!....

TOK Jul 23 2011 3:26 pm Tomoko Yamaguchi the best!!...Her acting is superb and very very Original..that so many new generation actresses copycat her acting. Too bad the TV production didnt caste her for other roles because of her age. I really hate those situation what happened to her that time. Anyway, She is the legend for making this drama one of the best in Japanese Drama History. However, this is not for todays' teens who prefer cheesy girly stuff. This is truly for adult lovers as the characters have mature roles. After watching this drama, I also became fan of Japan Hero Takuya Kimura.

kronos Feb 21 2011 11:54 pm This romantic comedy is a true classic that deserves a special place among the jdoramas. Although released in 1996, its timeless exploration of the subject matter of love and human relationship is still entertaining to watch. The series shines in all departments including first class acting by some of Japan's most popular actors at the time. And not to mention outstanding musical scoring (Who can forget the LALALA Love Song and Sena's piano piece). I just love Tomoko Yamaguchi, she has such strong presence as the high spirited and energetic Minami, while Kimura's Sena is just... well, so cool! Although this is a romantic show, I found it to be very funny, like for example the jokes about Minami being the winner of the Miss Downstream Nagarawa River when she was much younger. If you haven't watched this, go watch it you won't regret it.

sumoni Jan 05 2011 1:41 am I was very excited to watch this as I am a fan of Kimura. Unfortunately I was left disappointed. The characters in this drama are not likeable at all. Everyone is very selfish and deciteful. Normally I don't mind a character here or there is is the bad guy or anti-hero. Instead these people do mean things to each other and I, as the viewer, feel like I'm expected to feel sorry for them. Or perhaps I'm suppose to relate to their flaws. Still, the only person I felt any connection to was Rumiko who gets stiffed, but she's the only innocent one. I really don't want to spoil anything so it's best to leave it at this. I suggest others watch it and form their own opinion. I read it was popular so I just may not get it.
