To exact revenge, the Liar Game office is revived. The target is only one person - Shinichi Akiyama (Shota Matsuda). Because of new heroine Shinomiya (Mikako Tabe), Shinichi, who kept refusing to take part in the game, finds himself in the game. Along with Akiyama, there's 19 other players competing for the prize of 2 billion yen. Omega (Makiko Esumi), who revived the game, plays the game at the Liar Game office with Alice (Mana Ashida). Alice sets up the game, chooses the players and sets the traps.

Dramalover23 Jan 30 2016 4:32 am Just watched it and I was extremely disappointed. First, Nao wasn't in it. Two, the lead sucked! She got in my nerves! She didn't trust anyone, and made stupid descions because she got scared. Come on now! Also they only played in game. In the other ones they at least played two. This movie only had the musical chairs game. There was no chemistry between the Aikyama and the new chick. I barely made it through the film, and I definitely won't watch it again. I'll just go back to the previous film And the first two seasons

Rayla Jan 07 2016 10:57 pm As someone who was a huge fan of the previous seasons of Liar Game (1 and 2) and the Final Stage movie, it is going to be extremely hard for me not having Nao Kanzaki as the female lead, no in the movie AT ALL, especially since she was my favorite character.

It is an undeniable fact that Kanzaki Nao is the core of liar game, she was the primary reason Akiyama even joined the Liar Game, and she was also a big part of the reason why majority of the investors went bankrupt. And it is only ludicrous not to include her. I understand that schedule was a b*tch and Erika Toda just couldn't be there to film the movie, but honestly, they could just postpone the movie or at least tried to work something out. I don't know how buisiness went, but I'm sure the creators understood that fans would be outraged for not having Kanzaki Nao in the game, especially since she was originally so important, to brush it off, is just insulting in my opinion.

However, despite what I said, I will watch this movie to the end.

However, since the gap between Final Stage and Reborn is two years, and the only current background that we know about Akiyama was his job, I just pretended that Akiyama had probably went and married Nao in that two years. Seems like childish, but it is the only way to resolve the problem.

And I don't believe that Matsuda Shota refused to act with Toda Erika. Because if he did, Toda Erika won't appear in his drama Umi no Ue no Shinryoujo. She was just busy with her dramas and SPEC movies.

But I don't hate Tabe Mikako either.

Janu Jul 30 2015 7:41 am I have to say I am glad I checked the wiki before I clicked the movie. The entire manga and series was revolving around Nao. Without her I doubt I can continue to watch this. Not trying to be harsh on this new actress or anything but I can't seem to see her as Akiyama's partner! I'm going to be done with "Liar Game The Final Stage" and pretend this movie didn't exist at all!

LG Sep 21 2014 4:24 pm It doesn't make sense that Nao Kanzaki wasn't in Reborn since Alice and her mother (one of the previous investors) wants revenge for getting owned in the previous Liar Game. Shinichi Akiyama outwitted the game but Nao would be considered the real target since she accomplished the all red apple voting in the finals which the investors were gambling on and thus was the biggest insult to them.

But I guess it can't be helped, whether it was due to Toda's schedule conflicts, director's decision, or whatever the reason, it's too bad.

LGT Office had intensionally add Nao in Liar Game and Akiyama was involved because of Nao. So he doesn't have to participate without Nao. Moreover, the Final Stage should be ended with romantic scenes. It made most of the funs upset. Since Akiyama helped Nao and he had always been with Nao. So they must had some feeling. I feel sad that Nao isn't in Reborn.

Maybe that's why Erika didn't want to work with another knowing it was just for milking the storyline. But I read it was bec she was too busy with Spec drama/movie. A pity though I was hoping for more confirmation of romance bet Nao & Akiyama.

It's not in Shota's personality to refuse to work with someone you've been with for a long time, plus he's from a family of actors. He knows it would be unprofessional. Most likely Erika couldn't fit it the movie in her schedule coz at that time she was doing SPEC which was doing very well. Or maybe she had a feeling that since Akiyama already won in the Final Stage movie, what's the point of doing another? And besides, Michiko Kichise who played the lead female dealer isn't around as well. It's a pity though that Nao was never mentioned in the movie. Hmph!

Did Shota really say he didnt wanna work with Toda ERIKA??!? errrr.... i dont like Mikako here, she isnt as cute compared to Kimi ni Todoke, she's not pretty at all.. Actually, this story is suppose to have Nao in it, but since erika is nao, and it would be ackward to replace Nao, they wrote a new character for the movie,.. you can read it in the manga that there's no Shinomiya

Liar Gamer Jun 17 2013 10:57 pm I think this wasn't up to standards because having getting used to Nao Kanzaki, this new character, No matter how similar to Nao, cannot replace Nao. Erika Toda being replaced was a shame, since I've personally gotten used to her. But I can't stand for the fact that there is somebody new standing beside Akiyama. It ruins the whole ending of Liar Game the Final Stage considering how Akiyama asked Nao if she could live with his lies. This movie tends to give Akiyama the blunt image that he never did have any romantic feelings for Kanzaki and he probably only goes around helping all the innocent--probably naive females in Japan. Ouch. Doesn't that sting?

a.s.r.a May 27 2013 3:16 am The movie was good, and Akiyama perfect as always *+* all the actors did a good job (Shota is definitely the best *+* haha) but I may say that I was expecting more from this movie:

1.- It is missing the amazing puzzles that keeps you freakin' anxious and dying in your sit the whole time; 1.- It didn't show the "Liar game vs. Akiyama" plot at all, and it was supposed to be the purpose of the reborn... 3.- The protagonist actress (Tabe) did a good job but the writers just gave her the "Nao-chan" character again, so it was exactly the same, with the only change of the betrayal. I don't like a lot Nao's character because she kind of spoils Akiyama's plans and that frsutrates me a lot xD but I think that with this movie, the writers could have done so much more with the new actress but they just gave her the same patrons as Nao, which makes totally predictable the end of the movie... 4.- Fukunaga's character didn't have sense at all in this movie... and what was the first scene with Yokoya? I don't have a clue... another mistake, cause both of them could have been amazingly introduced into the movie... 5.- At least they should have mentioned Nao just to know what was she supposed to be doing, since the first movie ends with almost a proposal between those two :3

Anyway, It is not the best reborn for the amazing Liar Game we are used to, but at least it's entertaining and gives us the opportunity to feel the tension with Akiyama's master mind (and hot expressions) again xD

vin Apr 24 2013 12:04 am It's complete bullshit tabloid rumor about Erika Toda.She's just considered straightforward and confident and apparently its not well seen in japanese culture , besides I highly doubt that someone so dedicated to work like Matsuda Shota would refuse acting with her over such a petty reason .The truth is , Erika was already busy with Spec movie so she couldn't participate in another Liar Game movie.

Linda Apr 03 2013 7:14 am although I was disappointed that Toda Erika wasn't in this movie, but I also like Tabe Mikako so I wasn't too bothered by her replacing Toda in this...although I have to admit that it just doesn't feel the same without Nao. I think Tabe's character Shinomiya is good too, yeah she was stupid, but only because she was just so trusting & clueless...even Nao was like that in the beginning too. So I don't think we should really blame her. And it really upsets me to see so much hate for Tabe just because she replaced Toda in the movie, I mean, it's not even Tabe's fault! I heard rumors that Shota himself did not want to work with Toda because of her mean attitude, so they had her replaced. If the rumors are true, then the one who should be blamed is Toda herself, not Tabe, jeez!

The past puzzles were more complicated and the tension had successfully built up with each episode. Yu Shinomiya was literally stupid. Especially considering the fact that she had psychology education or some sort of involvement. I can't believe I am writing this, but Nao Kanzaki was way better.:(((

Universe2 Jan 27 2013 1:05 am Toda Erika is a very popular young actress, but she is also known to be kind of strong headed. The most famous alleged feud is during the filming of Code Blue where she supposedly said many mean things about her co-star, Aragaki Yui.

Her attitude is even said to be the reason why she is not in the new Liar Game movie. Erika complained that Shota took too long in make-up even though he’s a guy, along with various other complaints.

When the offer came for a new Lair Game movie, Shota said he doesn’t want to film it with her. Maybe that’s why they changed the main actress to Tabe Mikako?

Re Nov 16 2012 6:36 pm Been watching since the 1st season and i have to say that they're not even close with the manga. while the dorama (obviously) is more about the drama between the individuals involved, the manga is more about strategy, and imho, the main characters' characterization are way better than in the drama. akiyama is more humane than he does in the drama--in roots of a i dare say that his kind-nature even resembles nao a bit. as for nao, she grows more and more mature and strong through the entire episodes and she plays even more role in the strategy making and the bond between them is even stronger in manga.

i'm not saying that the dorama is bad, but i guess it'd be so much better to read the manga too

He really amaze me with his killing strategy plus comeback, slyly smirk and deadly look which attracts me more.. I hate the part where Yu betrayed Akiyama >_< It was like "How dare you do that to him! You don't know anything! He's a genius! If Kanzaki Nao were there, she will definitely trust akiyama! I hate yoU!" hahaha.. but thank goodness Akiyama is still calm! :)) Over all this movie is great! I'm hoping for more but please don't change Akiyama :) Matsuda Shota is perfect :)

dissappointed Oct 06 2012 11:19 pm Was nice to see liar game again but from the Yokoya vs Fukunaga episode I was really hoping Yokoya would be in it to mess with Akiyama without the animosity. Fukanaga also had almost no role which was a dissappointment. Mushroomhead is a staple of Liar Game. And no Nao too...yeah...

It was sad to know that Nao-chan will not be part of the story, but somehow they managed to work it out. Though along the movie I was wondering what will it be like if she's there, or if at least she'll have a cameo appearance. Well, at least Akiyama's back!!! ^_^ The movie has it's own strong and disappointing points as well. But all in all it is a must watch movie especially for Liar game fans! ^_^

ross Sep 26 2012 2:12 am dont blame us if we are kinda disappointed nao is not in the movie...coz atleast for me..liar game is how akiyama and nao is changing the game....and to those who think it doesnt matter.....Nao is one of the protagonist in liar game......so its kinda having a harry potter movie without Harry potter....

But still i will watch this because i love the story of Liar game....and Akiyama is still there...

However, I do know that the movie is full of the same good Liar Game psychological goodness. I saw this movie while flying out of Japan, and it got me hooked on Liar Game. Now I can't wait for more. I hope they continue to make new movies as more chapters of the Liar Game manga are released. I really suggest all Liar Game fans see this movie and watch it with an open mind.

AkiNao Jun 22 2012 12:58 am Disappointed that Erika couldn't be in this one, but i really hope HOPE! that she'll be back if there is more installments to come. I don't think anyone can top the dynamic which Nao and Akiyama have, and the chemistry between Erika and Shota.

Erika had a schedule clash, simple as that. so she couldn't film this. Liar Game is supposed to be Nao, its all written/narrated in her pov. so losing herbis disappointing because erika/nao is so much appart of it, and the musical chairs game is one of the best games in the manga.

I have no animosity towards tabe, but just sad. I will watch it for akiyama, but it won't be the same.

Personally I love Nao and Shin' ichi chemistry and I pray they dont get rid of her now don't get me wrong the suspense is beautiful and it always pushes my emotions to the limit but I don't like change alot, sorry. However what compensates is the new SPEC movie that is also coming soon :D:D:D. But I hope she does make a cameo appearance (as a surprise!!) cuz I really love Nao and Akiyama's Chemistry and I don't think it can be replaceable with the new lead (although I do like the actrice, I just think her relationship wish Akiyama will be different and I don't think she can really replace Nao) Well still excited for both this movie and then new SPEC movie :D

I think that it's necessary to replace Nao's character because it's the only real way to bring back Liar Game. Though, I'd bet money that the new character will be just like Nao.

Can't imagine how this movie plot, Liar Game: Reborn will be without Kanzaki Nao screwing up the game. Nice to wait for something different this time round. But I hope more Liar Game will continue after this movie and Kanzaki Nao will be back together with Akiyama Shinichi.

But when I saw she was replaced.. my heart just sank D: I just love Nao and Shinichi chemistry together in the show. I'm hoping Mikako Tabe will surprise me in this movie.

Although I love Mikako in Kimi Ni Todoke, awwww, it just felt so wrong. Anyway, I will watch this one NO MATTER WHAT. But try replacing Matsuda Shota and I will definitely BOYCOTT this Liar Game.

BUT to know that they replaced Nao Kanzaki.. honestly I'm very disappointed!!!!! >,< though Mikako Tabe is my FAVORITE Face(Japanese Actress) I just love Nao and Shinichi's chemistry... but then still I can't wait for this season.. I just hope that they would not put so much changes in the story...

HOWEVER, IF and I mean IF, the movie can come with more exciting games, and MORE unexpected twists, this movie may just survive to live to see its glory just like the other movies/dramas. By the way, try replacing Matsuda Shota and expect the expected for this movie.

BUT why no toda erika ? why no eri ? why should the KID be part of the organization ? why did they CHANGE the characters ? it would change the whole thing . i mean it would be VERY different . yeah , nao is kinda annoying (not really actually) , but she's part of liar game . it's just like . . ahh !

luckily tabe mikako and akiyama shinichi are rivals . and very LUCKY they don't change AKIYAMA character or else i'll boycott the show for sure !

better to watch it first . who knows this would be better from another season . but still i feel something wrong to replace NAO . i want nao and akiyama paired !

The title for the movie will be "Liar Game -Saisei-". And also, Ashida Mana will be the new member of LGT. She will be the one managing the game, a replacement to Eri. I'm looking forward to it. :)

Aizawa Nov 20 2011 4:18 am Arrrrgggghhh.. that's BIG NO NO to replace Kanzaki Nao character with another character! I think in this movie and dorama, Kanzaki Nao is the main character that makes this movie and dorama feel great. Without Kanzaki Nao, it means that without Erika Toda, this movie will be totally different and maybe the audience will feel different with this Liar Game Movie 2. It seems like the director have to make a great story, plot of the story, backsound and others in this movie to cover the missing thing because of the replacing Kanzaki Nao. The chemistry between Kanzaki Nao (Erika Toda) and Akiyama (Matsuda Shota) is very appropriate and the audience feel that much like I felt when I watched Liar Game.. It seems like kind an addiction about something, the something's called Liar Game!

Sheng Oct 31 2011 10:07 pm I love Matsuda Shota, and Toda Erika is one of my favorite actresses. WHY REPLACE HER?!?!?! I love the combo of Matsuda + Toda together... It's a little disappointing to know she's not going to be in the movie. I hope they can make it work somehow for Mikako Tabe...
