Honestly, I get bored easily. But for My Dearest Part 1 & 2, I never felt bored even with 21 episodes. That is amazing. Your writing is so beautiful and emotional. The story felt very real, deep, painful, romantic, and meaningful at the same time. I truly fell in love with Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun-Jin’s acting. Their chemistry was Perfect ❤️ I laughed, cried, got emotional, and smiled so much because of them. Lee Jang-Hyun and Yoo Gil-Chae are one of the best couples I have ever watched in saeguk dramas. Please give us Season 3. I really want to see their happy married life together. Thank you for creating such an unforgettable drama. Please stay healthy always, Writer ❤️ Sunnie Apr 08 2026 7:55 am It is my favorite drama. I have cried the most while watching this drama?? This story will remain in my heart forever ♥️. kara Mar 23 2026 3:19 pm Last year was the luckiest to be honest, i'm a k-drama addict but i have a rare perfectionist taste for real, i have top 3 i'd watch and rewatch for the rest of my life, and "연인-/my dearest" is top 1! yes! before actually explaining why i'm addicted to it, i shall mention how perfectionist the director is, the screen-writter whom i thank a lot for such a raw and insane speech, she is absolutely emotionally intelligent to capture those emotions and rather use one word and leave us in awe. First of all, I've never thought that I'd feel so bad cause I haven't discovered such a k-drama sooner, plus that i've never been an historical k-drama fan, but this is beyond the good i had expected! I knew the actress but I think i didn't know her enough to watch her portray "Gil Chae" in such an outstanding way, and about Namkoong Min? i was chocked, I was blown away 'cause there was no way it was just an acting, I remember me saying during the first 4 episodes "Ahhh! so that's Acting!" the cast was just perfect, it felt like watching a real life movie where every character means something to us, and yes! i still remember their name, because what do you mean forgetting "gak hwa" and "Ryang eum" ? without them there would not be any extra fire and plots... but as soon as i found out, it would've been more sophisticated if the events were more detailed, at the beginning of the story ryang eum whom i knew later, was the one who narrated janghyun's story while in prison, it wasn't clear simply, i wished if there were more scenes between jang hyun and gil chae not after off-and-on kind of relationship, yes it made that tension but it made it even harder to keep on track, there were many transitions in time when i had to stop and rewatch before i get it, especially after that jangyun left on the boat throwing shoes in the lake, time passed... we have to understand that time passed and see it not reading it, i think that is one of the biggest observations i had! i loved most of the cinematic backgrounds, but since the drama is emotions heavy indeed, we focused more on the characters and their feelings and forgot anything else, that's why everytime i decide to rewatch it i just i know i'll discover a new side to the k-drama! what i liked about gil chae is how grown-up she became, yet there were only some events when we discovered about her transition from the spoiled nungun-ri noblewoman to a grown-up lady, wise, loyal, and protective! we lost the ninety nine tailed gil chae in season two, i really missed her!!! it's logical after all she went through wasn't easy at all, but at least keeping a side of her, that we've witnessed during the first season will do, would have done!!! that would've proved how strong she is as a woman who chose peace and life rather than listening to other's opinions of her in such a society, maybe just like janghyun's wit and funny temper in both seasons! I've watched this k-drama more than four times and everytime i rewatch it i discover something, A new OST i didn't catch while focusing on the acting, Or the haunting cinematography i couldn't enjoy while savouring every melody of its OSTs, and the one underrated original soundtrack is called With My Heart (다만 마음으로만) . the chemistry speaks to me everytime, i can't imagine ahn eunjin now acting with some other male actor because of her chemistry with namkoon min, and if that means something it means how good they looked together and how great their acting was! I loved the outfits as well, i loved how professional and perfectionist the acting was that they paid attention to the pschological state of gil chae in the second season and how she clearly lost weight to portray the traumatised went through a lot gil chae, and that was just so professional, the characters personalities were perfectly chosen, gak hwa which is the qing princess vs gil chae the nungunri noblewoman, jang hyun the mysterious who appears in her village oneday, they were studied well, the misogamist who still wants to win gilchae who believe marriage as a part of their traditions, dignity and nobleness, these contradictions created that chemistery, that hesitation, that longing and yearning, which made the drama even more powerful, this k-drama made me cry, i have to confess that i had stopped watching it especially during the episode 12 because it felt too hard, but after only two days i continued and instantly regretted stopping it, i've watched it twice at the same year, listened to its osts everyday, had its posters on my laptop, and sang its covers, but the most important part? the quote... the magical quote! the iconic confession! i would have rated it 11 if i could, but that's because i wished we had an even clearer ending, even more chemistry and time together, even more fight scenes... and still, my dearest k-drama will always be my dearest!! and i want to mention that even if my dearest was inspired by gone with the wind" but they're never the same, i'd always fall in love with jang hyun and laugh because of how cute gilchae acted like, i've seen the scene in gone with the wind but i wasn't moved, it wasn't at all!! and how the hell do we compare a korean traditional drama with its charm to another foreign special with its own kind? i appreciate what i see!! and what i saw is a masterpiece thank you hwang jin young Magda USA Mar 17 2025 12:35 am Bravo! Brilliant! Beautiful! You are one of the most gifted writers ever! I loved watching Gone with the Wind, so much! I’ve watched it 13 times. I can’t get over how beautifully and brilliantly you incorporated Gone with the Wind with the Josean era. Incredible! Please write more great dramas like this. I also loved that there’s no nudity, no foul language! Just a great beautifully written Drama! Lord bless you! gasenadi Feb 01 2025 4:52 pm Rewatched My Dearest one year later and this drama affected me so much harder. It had all the world’s current events: invasion, occupation, displacement, hostages, return, student (scholars) protests and petitions ignored, protestors attacked with impunity. I sobbed all the way through. If I recover, I will certainly watch again. My Dearest is tied with my all-time favorite sageuk. Bravo to the entire production staff. (Loved The Rebel, also!) Nurul Oct 24 2024 7:08 am I love my dearest. Hoping to see more of your lovely work. Nour Jul 18 2024 1:52 am One of the most beautiful stories I have enjoyed watching , what blows my mind the most is the love the main lead channels how he fights with his mind, his heart ,his soul for what he loves . Sama Nov 28 2023 6:55 pm How dare you manipulate my feelings for 21 episodes the dearest was more than any viewer could ever wish, I love you girl junejia Nov 19 2023 4:52 am Yeheeeeyyy this is most beautiful ending I watched. Thank you writernim for giving us such a beautiful ending that Janghyun and Gilchae deserve to have. We gonna miss this series. lacileh Nov 18 2023 6:07 pm my dearest is the greatest story i've ever see. i really enjoyed it and thank you because of creating it and espescially jang hyeon. the only thing i want now is a more clear explaining about ryang eum's fate. how did he ended up there? what will happen for him in the future? why didn't gil che go to find him? Rhein Nov 16 2023 6:24 am Hi, I hope you're doing well. I wish to tell you how amazing your stories are. The main lead's character in the story "My Dearest" is really heart-warming and idealistic but the fact is..that kind of man doesn't really exist in real life. It is misleading. It misleads young women of today's generation that there is such a wonderful love of a man like that. I'm just wondering if some parts of your stories are situations you've encountered in real life . ? Anyway, I still want to thank you. I hope to see more of you. Ci9 Nov 11 2023 2:45 pm Beautiful work you did on My dearest! The drama is a masterpiece at the moment no period drama can top it up. Please continue to deliver such beautiful work, appreciate it! Your fan Nov 09 2023 12:07 pm I enjoyed your very beautiful series (my dearest), I hope that your success will be permanent. Isn't this series an adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's novel (Gone with the Wind)? Because the main characters are very similar to this novel. umy Nov 03 2023 6:24 pm u just gained my love with My dearest. i love everything about that drama and hope you continue to make great drama's like that. New Fan Sep 25 2023 10:28 pm You have a new fan! From now on I will look forward to all your project. Hong Gil Dong story was already in my top list! The small details.. Even the side character is so memorable. Now we have My Dearest... I can't describe how many emotion you all make me feel. Everyone did a good job! The ending was so good and so sad. Stay safe and healthy! I'll be looking forward to more of your works. Sha May 29 2017 3:42 pm Hong gil dong is the best thing I've watched all year!! Soo baek hyang was also pretty good. Looking forward to watching more period dramas from this talented writer Jane Apr 11 2017 7:42 pm Your Hong Gil Dong story is splendid! It's touching, arousing and compassionate. PakalanaPikake Feb 07 2017 7:45 pm Hats off to Writer-nim Hwang Jin-Young for creating another fiercely-protective dad cut from the same cloth as Su Baek-hyang's step-father, Kuchon the Silent (played to perfection by Yoon Tae-Young). Portrayed by Kim Sang-Joong, Hong Gil-dong's dad, Amogae, in REBEL: THIEF WHO STOLE THE PEOPLE is already a memorable character -- and it's only episode 3 out of 30. My wish to watch another drama penned by this fine screenwriter has been granted. And it's off to a fine start. Hooray! Nazim Apr 04 2015 7:05 am You are wonderful writer. We watched 108 episode in one week. My brother should work with you. Shosh Jun 05 2014 8:10 am Great job on "Su Baek Hyang"!
