As a child, Cha Jae-Wan (later played by Lee Dong-Wook) was a beggar. He was also physically abused by the leader of a group of beggars that he belonged to. One day, Jae-Wan killed the leader of the group by accident and he passed out. When awoke, he found himself in a luxurious hotel. A man, Lee Joong-Goo (Lee Deok-Hwa), tells Cha Jae-Wan that his father, Ah Sung-Won, abandoned him and his mother. Jae-Wan vows to take revenge on his father for his deceased mother.

Now, Cha Jae-Wan works as the general manager for HOTEL CIEL. The hotel is run by none other than Ah Sung-Won. One day, Cha Jae-Wan tells Ah Sung-Won that he is his father and he should reveal that publicly. Ah Sung-Won though reacts unexpectedly and dies. After his death, his only child, Ah Mo-Ne (Lee Da-Hae) appears at HOTEL CIEL. She acts arrogant, but others are unaware that Ah Mo-Ne is actually afraid of being alone and she is also suspicious of her father's death. Ah Mo-Ne struggles to keep HOTEL CIEL.

They dressed her like a dominatrix with a horrible blonde hairstyle. The minor characters (hotel staff) were amusing, but that's it. I'd take a pass on this drama.

NickSJ Apr 09 2020 2:07 pm For me, this started off reasonably well, but as time went on, I was put off by Lee Dong-wook's frequent blank stare, and strange lip movements to show anger or irritation. Eventually the plot became so absurd when he realized who his mother was and immediately reversed direction, that I couldn't watch it any more. I almost never stop watching a drama after getting that far in, but at that point the plot just seemed ridiculous.

The one saving grace was discovering Lee Da Hae, who is one of the most beautiful women I've seen in k-dramas, and who has a wonderful smile. I'll look for more things by her.

Kdrama fan May 31 2018 12:46 pm Just finished Ep. 32 and I’m so glad it’s done. I have this thing about finishing what I start. I always read reviews before watching and this was mostly recommended. I’ve seen close to 150 Korean films and dramas (I keep a list). To me I’m sorry to say that this is one of the worst written scripts out there. What were the writers smoking when they wrote this POS? I can’t believe a couple of the reviewers watched this 2 and 4 times! I found it so unbelievable and frustrating to watch even for dramaland. But : I will say that the casting was superb and it was well acted and executed. Kim Hae-sook and Lee Deok-hwa, the despicable evil characters, were outstanding. I was impressed with Jin Tae-hyun who emoted so naturally. And the eye candy (Yoo Gun, Lee Dong-wook, Jin Tae-hyun, Lim Seul-ong, all decent actors too) kept me watching. The writing — ugh — kept me from getting invested in the lead couple. I didn’t feel it for them, even though some reviewers were gushing about their chemistry. IDK but I kept seeing LDW as the grim reaper from Goblin and LDH although beautiful, I kept wondering about her plastic surgery. (Sorry for being tacky. Shouldn’t have read the fan gossip.). I cannot recommend that one should invest 32 hours in this melo unless you are serious fans of LDW and LDH. Heck they only kissed once I think early on and not again until until Ep 22. They finally ended up sleeping together (no heavy passion) in Ep 25 and never again it seemed although there was lots of hugging and a few kissing scenes, then they split for a year. Egads, aigoo! Come on! I couldn’t get past the fact that lots of crimes were committed but the crooks got away with it, unbelievable. Anyway, if you have plenty of time and love these actors, watch, but if you want a tight believable script, do some research. Go watch Jang Hyuk in Fated to Love You or Money Flower, Ji Jin Hee in I Have a Lover or Misty, Ji Sung and Gong Yoo in anything, Lee Jin-wook in I Need Romance 2, Jo Jung Suk in Jealousy Incarnate, So Ji-sub in Master’s Son, Jo In-sung and Gong Hyo-jin in It’s OK, That’s Love! Sorry, I got carried away!

Ann Apr 05 2018 2:27 am I remember enjoying this drama and goig into it without realising how long it actually is (longer than what Im used to). The story was nice and the chemistry between the two was very good

The plot, admittedly, was stretched to a point to accommodate the lenth of the drama. That said, it was still a bery enjoyable drama and the acting more than made up for the plot that sometimes went around in circles in between.

april Oct 18 2016 6:02 am before i wish them to do another project after my girl because i love their team-up, got sad but at the same time happy, sad because i wasnt aware that they already had their 2nd teamup even though i missed watching it back in 2014, im still happy because i was able to watched it this year. They really are great in this kdrama, wow!! amazing chemistry, their chemistry never fade after many years, super super love DONGHAE couple :) lee dong wook and lee dae hae, hoping for the 3rd team-up.. always be a fan :)

Both actors are good, some very good shots of LDW. My first LDW drama was Scent of a Woman, then Kang-Koo's Story; enjoyed both. When I like an actor I look for more shows with that person, glad I landed on Hotel King. So worth it!

whynot May 28 2016 12:48 am good drama with a strong impact on the viewer. Lee Dong Wook gave a strong performance portraying such a complex and multilayered character. Too bad for the female lead. Even though in this drama it is totally understandable why Cha Jae-Wan would fall for a helpless and brainless woman, grown up women over 20, acting like mentally challenged 6 year old girls, so often shown in k-dramas, do disturb me. The chemistry is though excellent.

It has got everything: emotional moments, Action, Funny moments, and a loooot of Romance. Also the ending is great!! Worth to watch it for sure!!! Very good drama!

limzy Feb 29 2016 7:15 pm Did someone mention unrealistic and unnecessarily long? commoooooonnnnn people.... this drama is the best in the history of korean drama.... storyline cast setting and every everything... The story was not dragged and the cast was awesome. actions were super matured. No one did anything super childish or even childish at al. LDW and LDH were too perfect. They had the looks and the talent. Then the setting: that hotel was too beautiful. Mo-ne's garden was exceptional. I am rerewatching this in 2016 on and still loving it. Thank God there are people who love this drama... and there happen to be less focus on LDH plastic surgery than every other thing.

I've watched many dramas from various countries and movies from many countries, and I would like to say that this is one of the best things i've ever watched. Excellent drama, superb script, written excellent, well directed, awesome story line. Every actor and actress did a fantastic job. Lots of love to all. Beak Mi Nyeo n Lee joong goo are well qualified in their role, did an amazing job.

Lead couple dong wook and da hae has one wonderful chemistry and its flawless. Coz of this amazing couple, I found that they have done the drama named "My Girl" looks like almost their first acting in a series, i watched it too, after hotel king. They are perfect in reel, have positive hopes for their real lives too, maybe they have different views but they still have more matching points for sure to consider, fingers crossed....love you both....!!

I watched the drama repeatedly completely 3 times now and can't stop loving it.

Aj Jun 15 2015 6:45 pm The beloved lead actors are wonderful with a strong supporting cast. I stayed with and loved these characters though the writer frustrated me repeatedly. For me the flaws are the stereotyped plot complications and evil characters. If you've seen a lot of KDrama you can anticipate every one of these, which I find annoying devices to stretch to the 32 episodes. Even the finale, though giving us what we want at last, is needlessly complicated and rushed as a result with still more angst when it should have been joyous. For Pete's sake, these two good people love each other. Don't beat them and the audience up over and over.

cassy Jun 14 2015 12:36 am HK is one of the best dramas i ever watched. yes there are some flaws but who is perfect anyway? All of the dramas i watch have their flaws. i love all the elements they put into it. Revenge, betrayal, romance, comedy, pain, suffering, trust,forgiveness, murder , annoyance, greed ahh this is a feels trip drama. i like the msg of the drama that revenge even if u succeed with it all will remain is emptiness and in d end it will ruin you. trust and forgiveness is also the strong msg of this drama. Another thing i love about this drama is that not only the main leads were interesting but also the other characters. Roman lee is very interesting character to me and the actor nailed his role. He put the right emotion and acting into it. Song chae is also a lovable second female lead, she is not your typical second lead in other kdrama where she is trying to get into the main leads relationships and ruin it (u know those kind of second female lead were tiring to watch tbh) but song chae is a character with maturity, logical and compassion. she even provides support to JW and Mone. Manager baek also succeed in playing the mysterious and dark character. And also the hilarious Manager Jang is also lovable he and his hilarious dialogues were ice breaker to the intense and heavy atmosphere of HK. and of course the main lead Lee Dong Wook is great actor. He nailed the character of Cha Jae Wan! He is one of those few korean actors who can put the right emotions to the characters their playing. I am in awe of his acting in HK. No need for him to exaggerate his acting for u to feel his pain and suffering. MoNe character i already expected it to be annoying , from the first episode they already describe her as a spoiled brat, and doesnt know how to do a thing. so i dont expect her to act so smart. But in d end her character mature a bit i can say. Da Hae and Wookie really have an amazing chemistry. they are so lovable and cute and hot. I hope they pair up again in another drama. But i want wookie character to be less serious if that happen.haha. and to end my post i think all 32 episodes of HK were all worth it to watch. The first time i watch it i got so hooked that i Still want more and i cant believe i already finished the 32episodes.aha. this is not your typical kdrama. Amazing cast, epic storyline (yes i love drama with a lot of twist, one That will make ur heart wrench, make u frustrated and annoy u.lol) and i love the All the songs they used in this drama! Also i love all Da Hae's outfit here :p and lastly the kisses were real! thats how u should kiss ur lover..not like some kdrama where they just stand there when they kiss like a freakin cardboard DaHae and wookie can make ur heart melt and ur knees weak with their amazing chemistry.!

The intensity of the story will not let you move from your seat and wont let u fall asleep. kudos to the writers for creating a wonderful piece of work. as you watch this drama you will experience a roller coaster of emotions. sadness,happiness, annoyance, revenge, betrayal, romance..it has everyhing in it. Im watching it for the 3rd time and im still not bored. All 32 episodes are worth your time. In fact i dont even want it to end..hehe. only lee dong wook and lee da hae can pull off a natural and great chemistry. I first watched them in My Girl then i became hooked to them. 9 yrs before they paired up again and they didnt dissapoint. Love the two of them. Lee dong wook is w/out a doubt one of the best actors in S.korea.. and Da Hae is one of my fave actress bcoz of her natural acting skills and her versatility in pulling off roles in different genres. She is also very very pretty. I wish i have that kind of face.haha.

While Mo Ne supports jae wan in emotional aspect. Its really heart warming seeing jae wan still love his father despite the fact that he doesnt receive any kind of love from him. Hope this Kdrama will air here in the Philippines. 32 episodes are worth watching.

I watch the full series in 3D2N from 1st to the 32nd episode,it was an EPIC story, Kim Hae-Sook is such a great actress, LDW/LDH also., I just expecting to see what happened to all the remaining characters at 32nd episode. I will miss this show badly so that I'll play and play it again. :D :D :D more series for LDW/LDH loveteam please!

Also, Lee Deok-Hwa and Kim Hae-Sook made me hate them and love them throughout the story with their incredible performances.

sia Jan 23 2015 7:18 am just finish the drama....and i really love this drama. it is the longest k-drama i ever watch. some episodes boring because the plot is same, but very make me curious about the ending. unfortunately the ending is too short....the happy ending is just 5 minutes.... i really love LDW in this drama. at first i don't want to watch this drama because i really didn't like LDW. but after watching this...wowwww i am now one of his fans. Overall it's great and must watch drama

Great chemistry with Lee Da Hae. Overall drama is very well done: a lot drama, schemes, secrets and romance. I wish LDW more strong and versatile characters as Jaewan/Hyongwoo. Regret about ratings. This drama deserves even more and not only because of LDW's super acting. But still, Asian people like sweet boys and idols and they will watch the dramas with those idols nevertheless it is good, crap or mediocre drama. Nevertheless, I believe Hotel King has gained a lot of fans all over the world.

How and when did Hyungwoo's Mom come back to her senses? Like wtf they just had her back to normal like nothing happened like I was waiting for the part that they show her getting her senses back and they didn't show it so I was confused.Also what was up with the last part of the last episode when hyungwoo said I will make this hotel a heaven then it did the music it always plays when something dramatic is happening or about to happen.Like um what's the cliffhanger for? this is the last episode right? So the whole show would be great if they kinda fixed the last episode but overall I still loved this Drama! >.< LDW & LDH Fighting!

She should have just left her face alone, she was more beautiful with a natural organic look about her but now she just looks like the rest of Korean actresses. Now she is going to have to live with her plastic surgery mistake…I dearly hope she doesn't do anymore and just age gracefully.

Can't believe the ratings are not that good. Probably not many can appreciate a real good drama which are not like the other cinderella type Korean dramas.

I have seen many Korean dramas. So far, I noticed that it was only Wookie & Cherry that can cry without closing their eyes tight for the tears to fall. The others have to do it for their tears to fall.

I believe that it it only Wookie & Cherry that can execute that kind of drama.

Ah Mo Ne is supposed to be a smart,interesting character, but no, she's plain stupid heiress who cant do anything by herself, only cry cry cry. In fact, she is rather annoying in later episodes. I love LDH and LDW, but this drama is not the best

And leedongwook must be really working hard to control his emotion because being cha jae wan is not easy at all. Cha jae wan is a professional person, even though he has a lot of hard time facing the reality, he must act like nothing happens while working as GM. This must be a real hard work for leedongwook to potray that kind of character . And fortunately, leedongwook hit that jackpot .

What a fantastic drama. Writing, Directing, Producing and ALL of the cast were superb. Lee Dong Wook has been one of my favorites for a long time -- he's such a talented and charismatic actor. He showed so much of the pain of Jae Wan in his body language and especially through his eyes. Lee Da-Hae was a perfect match to LDW with great chemistry! Hated Lee Joong-Goo so much for his cruelty to Jae Wan -- Just goes to show me what a fantastic actor Lee Deok-Hwa truly is! Also hated Baek Mi-Nyeo as another evil woman until her personality change -- Shows what a great actress Kim Hae-Sook really is also. Looking forward to seeing Im Seul-Ong in another drama -- such a beautiful smile ;) Guess you can tell I loved this drama a whole lot more than the ratings they received. Even though the ratings weren't bad, it makes me wonder who they were up against in this time slot... Makes a big difference. Thanks for the memories!!!!

Currently up to date with episode 24 and Cha Jae Wan (Lee Dong Wook) and Ah Mo Ne (Lee Da Hae) have got to be the cutest couple. Seeing episodes where Jae Wan and Mo Ne suddenly fall in love and then a sudden occurance happens where it screws up their relationship makes me cry. :( Less than 10 more episodes left unfortunately...Such a good story line, so excited for the upcoming episodes to be released. This drama has finally redirected itself and is getting good...I want to know how the hell can the writers/network decide that 32 episode is enough to explain this drama out in complete detail without missing anything...backstory, all of it. I mean the backstory is only given in brief flashes....I still want to know whose baby Baek Mi Yeon had, was it Lee Joong Goo or Chairman Ah (don't know the characters name)? It's gonna be a real mess telling this because in the flashback there was only one infant baby on the porch with her when they did the flashback and Lee Joong Goo had found her....and she looked at him in shock when he saw the baby on the porch and she told him it wasn't his child. That being said, how is it going to be explained about Roman Lee aka Joo Wan....because now that he has seen that wings tattooed on Cha Jae Wan's back, he's having his own flashbacks.....

Did these two just find each other on the streets and start calling one another brother? WRITERS I HOPE THIS DETAIL IS WORKED OUT REALLY WELL, CAUSE I AM SERIOUSLY SEEING ISSUES HERE....YOU CAN'T PAINT THEM AS TWINS, IT'S OBVIOUS ONE IS OLDER THAN THE OTHER...WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO????

If Baek Mi Yeon came in like Lee Joong Goo and found Roman Lee aka Joo Won on the streets after he was horribly beaten like Jae Wan aka Jayden, then she is no better than Lee Joong Goo...she trained Roman Lee to be her dog, just like Lee Joong Goo trained Jae Wan...and she knows it. Birds of a feather recognize each other.

Oh well, I'm feeling sorry for Ah Mon Et, but then I'm not...because the whole time she's been at Ciel, like the new Chairwoman said...she's done nothing productive except trust people she was already told not to trust and run around throwing tantrums. I love it when the old man at her hide out told her the same thing...what have you done to be called a chairman, your grandfather was a plaster....that was real life right there. I wish the writers would serious grow Ah Mon Et up, cause I can't stand to see her cry or swoon or faint or whatever anymore....girl get some backbone.

But the main characters changed it in to one of the must watch drama of this year. Would recommend everyone to watch !!! Big claps to the acting of two main leads they are delight to watch !!!

@NeNe, I agree with you I believe Director Baek is Chae Jae Wan's real mother. I think she adopted Roman Lee thinking that was her real son...because remember she went to prison for embezzling money and what happened to the baby she had, he went into an orphanage. But Roman has some serious rage in him also....don't know if he suffered some abuse growing up or not, remember that fight scene at the beach side against the dudes that were following him and Ah Mon Et. Then again growing up with a mother like Director Baek, would make anyone grow up with a tad bit of murderous rag.

She was traumatized somekind of way (car accident I know) but why does she keep flashing back to it, that is the question....what does that event have to do with the deceased Chairman Ah and that old rat-bastard Joong-Goo (former Vice Chairman)????

I really like Sun Woo-Hyun, and I wish he'd get the girl Ah Mo Et than Cha Jae Wan/Jayden...just because dramas are always written with the predictable couples getting together. I think it's gonna be Woo-Hyun that save Ciel from Director Baek, Joong-Goo and all the other vipers out there. His is gonna be a supreme last minute kill attack...that even Ah Mon Et and Jae Wan wouldn't have seen.....am I wishfully thinking about this...ha!

Anyways, I don't know who the actor is that plays Roman Lee, I've seen him in other dramas but can't call his name right now....he's super good. He's got a face and body tha say, I'm a killer type dude. He seriously plays the bad guy roles very well. To the a actor that plays Roman Lee...seriously dude, you should be doing like major action movies...like I'm a killer or hero type roles...think Bruce Willis in Die Hard or Jason Stratham in like Homefront or Trainsporting....this suits you.

Dawn Jun 03 2014 3:50 pm So since I last posted I've come to find that I am not behind on episodes but I am...so MBC America, only just started airing this drama in my state and so I am at the beginning but behind some of the other commenters on this page....boo hoo!

I've taken it upon myself to go out on the net and find this show so I can catch up to everyone else...to impatient to way..yup that's me!!! ha!!!!

So far I am up to episode 7-8 I believe and I don't know how are why, but this drama has turned into My Love Who Came from the Stars...and I can't be the only one whose said that (not gonna go back and read everyone comments)...just something I picked up on. I mean Ah Monet/Ah Mon Et with her background and world travel they writers have reduced this woman to a whining, crying, unintelligent, extremely naive woman. How is she suppose to be a Chairwoman and save her fathers hotel with her attitude. She tries to act strong but crumbles at any obstacle...does this character not seem like Cheon Song-Yi. Cha Jae Wan/Jayden, does his character not seem like Do Min-Joo, very stotic and don't touch me vibe but really has a good heart underneath years of isolation and abuse. Doesn't Sun Woo Hyun seem like Whi-Kyung the faithful and devoted admirer who will never get the girl but will always be a protector. I could break the characters down and compare them all day to those in My Love Who Came from the Stars....but I what for!!!!

I love Lee Dong-Wook and things he's absolutely to good for this COPYCAT CRAP!!! But hey I understand....and will keep watching this drama until the last episode airs only because of him and Im Seul-Ong (such a cutie-pie). I really hope the ratings pick up for this drama and it doesn't get cut/cancelled because of some World Soccer crap...I mean we aren't all soccer or sports fans MBC!

Dawn Jun 02 2014 10:00 am From the information on this page, this drama has been running since April but I am just now seeing it in the program line up for the MBC channel I subscribe to. The 3 episodes I've watched over the weekend, indicate that I've missed a great many shows. I wish that wasn't the case...either way, I believe I will have to go out on the internet and try to find the beginning episodes.

From what I watched this weekend, it looks to be a pretty good drama. Of course, whenever Lee Deok-Hwa is in a drama and playing a mean and nasty person, you know it's gonna be good. The characters he plays are always so hard to take down....it's a joy to watch and a disgust at the same time. I love the person playing the character a lot....such fantastic talent...Fighting Lee Deok-Hwa.

It's been a long time since I've watched a drama with Lee Dong-Wook...Scent of A Woman (which I bought, because it was so good!!!!) His acting in this from what I've seen is classic. His expression and eyes drew me immediately into his character...and no, I'm not just saying that because he is a beautifully handsome man but because his acting is always amazing. Kim Hae-Sook, PRICELESS! Her talented acting abilities is what you can expect from a top-notch veteran....PRICELESS, I applaud you ma'am. Im Seulong, you're acting continues to improve with each drama you are cast in....keep doing good work.

I wish the entire cast the best of luck in their career choices and in their lives. May this drama improve in it's ratings....even if it doesn't, this will also be another drama I buy and add to my collection.

Anger, truly sad eyes, and the way he looks at Dae Hee ssi, if the other parts except his eyes are sensored or covered, I still can catch the love and affection showed by those eyes.. The writers have given the actors a script to get their teeth in, which makes their portrayal of the characters so impressive. And, for me, having Lee Dong-Wook as the male lead, makes it even more interesting. His portrayal of this over-achieving hotel manager with a sad, abusive background is absolutely on point. I can feel his lack of self in his movements and the sadness in his eyes as he finds a true love but pushes her away to keep her safe. It's a guessing game trying to figure out where he will end up... Even at episode 14, I would rate this drama 5 Stars ... Looking forward to see how the plot unfolds from here...

Thank fully Kdrama still knows how to deliver even if not as often as before.

It keeps you up and kickin' in every episodes. It is a stellar performance by Dong-Wook and Da-Hae!! this is not a teenage story. this is a next level performance by actors in HOTEL KING. I therefore say, it's must watch!! The ratings here are absurd! Maybe the viewers are not matured enough to distinguish what real acting and story is. I'm from the Philippines, but hell yeah i watch HOTEL KING and I don't want to miss every single thing of it!

I think this is one of the few well written mellowdrama, mystery,lovestory I watched.(I'm at Ep.12) The actors are all brilliant too....I must say that. Even the supporting roles do very well. 2 leads and 2 antagonists are powerful in their characters.WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE RATINGS???I biased the other lead actors in other dramas but currently amongst all of them...HOTEL KING IS THE BEST! More power to its cast and crew. I'm seeing it to the last Ep.

leishue May 17 2014 1:20 am to FROSTY: if you find Jae Wan's acting or reactions in the drama..well, that only means you didn't quite understand and feel where the character is coming from. Jae Wan's character is someone who has suppressed emotions and someone who has grown a cold heart. Emotions rarely blown out can be very unpredictable and dangerous. That's why, when he gets angry, it goes out of proportion because of sO much pain he has kept in his heart! Overall, I believe that this drama - HOTEL KING should have been on TOP of the ranks. If you're looking for stellar acting and absolutely interesting story of twists and turns, not mention to some comedy too in just 1 drama - HOTEL KING is a rare thing you just can't miss! this is not just a reunion drama..this is a next level performance by both LEE DA-HAE and LEE DONG-WOOK.

She's seem to be both good and bad guy writer put her in a great bipolar role. As for amn characters and cjw characters. I think since they have great chemistry in my girl which this plot is also about love torn between siblings/ lovers since they have the best chemistry they were casted together. Great choice by director. Seems like the writer wrote this story and it is fate that they are now continuing their wonderful roles. Can't wait for next week episode... I knew cjw wasn't chairman ah son because when the evil adjusshi mumbled blood ties can be a scary thing I think that cjw is actually that old mans son. He might think cjw is chairman ah son, maybe cjw was the woman he loved and she betrayed him for chairman ah because he lost his leg. Which for a man is losing integrity to stand tall and proud so he have a hatred and wants to take revenge but what's twisted is cjw is actually the evil guys son

The trio of maids are ridiculous as well as the asst. mgr.,, and give me a break with that Hitleresque female character. This drama should have lower to NR ratings but there is really no so little good drama out right now. Time to revisit some not so oldie but goodie dramas.

I really hope this drama and a good ending unlike many other korean dramas now with really bad ending that doesn't make sense. The ending is like dessert, it's meant to be reasonable and good, I really hope this drama won't dissapoint me, so far so good! christine May 04 2014 8:44 pm So many faults with the plot. Dong Wook is supposedly injured and yet he could give piggyback rides to the little boy. Doesn't make sense. To make him more human the writer has forgotten that. The comic relief added in is stupid esp the maid and the assistant manager. He was stupid in "Return of Ijimae" (walking sideway) and in this plot he behaved exactly the same. Gosh! is that the only way he knows how to act or was he told to act the same way. Guess they are trying to drag the story as it is supposed to be 32 episodes but come on do it in a more credible manner.

The pacing is eh, but that's what you get for drama. Taking into consideration the untrustworthy character of the VP and the fact that incest would be taboo and disrupt the story line and risk deterring viewers, I think it's obvious they aren't siblings. I'm excited to see the narrative arc; episode 6 made things more interesting between the two.

They're my favorite actors and I'm so happy that they're back together. I'm from the Philippines but Korean drama really amazes me because of its fast pace. Not only that, Hotel King's cinematography is quite amazing. It's like a movie. The story is very broad and interesting too. The music choices have captivated me as well. You just can't stop when watching it. I'm excited for the episode 5 and 6 but I was told it'll be shown next week. errrr! Can't wait!! Keep it all up guys! Let's keep watching!

ume Apr 20 2014 7:10 am I think Lee Dong Wook is awesome here. He really grasped his character well. His face is not really expressionless, if you really watch the drama you will see that actually he is suppressing his feelings and that can be seen in his eyes and all the little movements of his face. I like the drama so far, just having a bit of a problem with Seul Ong. I think he needs to keep up with all of his seniors performance, otherwise he will be the weak link in this drama. But I've been waiting for 8 years for my most favorite couple to be reunited, I can take it in any form...Hotel King Fighting!!

Kaybee Apr 15 2014 2:51 pm I watched the first 4 episodes and the drama pretty much has nothing new to offer. I've seen similar dramas already a dozen times... I was watching it for Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae but I guess it is the Director or something, the acting of all the caste is pretty bad. LDH is still pulling on but what happened to LDW! He is stoic and expressionless or rather has same expression in all the scenes! I can't even read his feelings! Too much botox! I read that he got botox on his jawline and it is working negatively on him...except for his eyes (a little bit) his facial expression is unemotive! Such a handsome man and good actor...what a waste... Alex Chu and Party should just leave the Hotel. Except for the Butler actress in his team, non of them can act. Alex is okay but the other two! OMG! Im Seulong also doesn't deserve his part. I love him as a singer but what a disappointment... SIGH~~~~

Betty Apr 15 2014 7:02 am I too am usually taken aback by the portrayal of Americans in Korean dramas as bumbling, ugly, incompetent louts. Even in the scenes of The Heirs filmed in LA, the American actors were singularly unattractive and amateurish despite the fact that talented beautiful actors are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. But this may all reflect the underlying sense of inferiority that seems to permeate Korean culture. Their pop music is based on American Rap and whatever it was that Michael Jackson did. Getting plastic surgery to look more Western and studying abroad in a Western university seem to be requirements for success in Korea. There is an innate racism here but also a fascination. I think of it as a Westernism which is analogous to the Orientalism that informed the Western view of Asia for centuries. Just call it Madama Butterfly's revenge.

I don't want a big part for him in this drama. @Michikohime - me too, looking forward to more of Alex. End of ep 4 is approaching to what I had guesses before.. except that Dong Wook is not the bad man's son, but just a thug/orphan he picked from the streets. More guesses.

I'm not interested by any of the character or their goal and I really don't care about the hotel business all that much. The only thing I'm curious about is what's in store for the Alex Chu's character. But it doesn't seem like they're eager to develop this part of the story anytime soon...

As an American I often get annoyed at the stupid way Americans are presented in many of the Korean drama's. Even in relatively good and well made drama's they seem to pick Americans who are Fat, obnoxious, can't speak any dialogue normally, and in General are bad actors.. But.. this is my American viewpoint, and merry's comment made me realize that It's not me the movies are for, and while the portrayal of American's isn't' very realistic or accurate it's their issue and I've got to just get over it. I'm anxious to watch this Drama.. while it may be predictable as some of the below comments say, that's OK with me.. All I care about is good acting, and I've watched the first EP and I really liked it so far.

He is not the chairman's son, but he is the bad guy's son. The hotel concierge will fall in love with Dae hee. Dong wook will use or get used by the widow so Dae hee will bot know about his love. In all this, Dong wook will find that chairman wasn't a bad man at all.

Also, I've watched over 70 korean dramas and in all of them westeners are portrayed as not so smart. Don't take it to the heart, it's television meant for koreans, not westeners. In Europe/USA it's not possible to portray foreigners in such a stereotypical way but Korea is different. Accept it and think it as cultural relativistic way.
