Kohei Kuryu (Takuya Kimura) is a prosecutor at the Josai branch of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office. He looks and thinks different from the other prosecutors. When he takes on a new case, he first goes to the scene of the incident and looks around with his own eyes. His unique habits as prosecutor has not changed over the past 13 years of his work.

Chika Asagi (Keiko Kitagawa) works as an assistant officer at the public prosecutor's office. She becomes influenced by Kohei Kuryu and grows as a person.

ace Jan 02 2015 7:54 pm Episodic stories of prosecutors and their assistants. On the surface pretty typical legal fare. I was certainly prepared to not like this series based simply upon the cast changes from the original Hero. So it had an uphill battle to start with for me to like it. But I was hooked before the first episode ended. Some really good humor from a really talented cast. For me the show shines when they are all together, delivering their lines like a well-oiled-experienced-talented-actor-actress-machine. The office choreography was a delight to watch. One of the most solid ensembles ever. For most these types of stories in other shows, I usually find the humor inserted into the heavier story material to be insensitive or unrealistic. But with Hero the writers hit just the right tone and pacing. The laughs came at just the right spot. The timing was requisite at times. I recommend watching the earlier Hero stuff as well but it is not really required in any way. Recommended.
