Chizuru Yukimura (Kotoko Wakayanagi) is a girl, who lives separately from her father. Her father lives in Kyoto due his work. One day, Chizuru Yukimura is unable to contact her father. She becomes worried about her father and travels to Kyoto to find him. While in Kyoto, Chizuru Yukimura is attacked by a monster, but she is saved by Toshizo Hijikata (Tsubasa Sakiyama), Souji Okita (Sonde Kanai) and Hajime Saito (Masato Yano).
These 3 men all belong to Shinsengumi, which is a special police force. Toshizo Hijikata is the vice-commander of Shinsengumi and he is referred to as the "Demon Vice-Commander" due to his strictness. His tough demeanor is just a front for the members of Shinsengumi and Commander Isami Kondo (Koutaro Tanaka). Toshizo Hijikata is actually a warm person. Chizuru Yukimura decides to join Shinsengumi and still searches for her missing father.
One day, Chizuru Yukimura receives information that somebody saw her missing father.
