When Han Suk-Hoon (Jin Yi-Han) was little, he was adopted by a family in the United States. He returns to Korea as an adult and works as an excellent surgeon, but he falls into a bottomless pit. He succeeds as a dumpling master.

Park Min Mar 04 2023 3:47 pm Apparently being a doctor is overrated. The parents (Jung Do & Choo Ja) had a great chemistry that really made the family alive. Doo Na chaotic behavior was a treat, although I didn't like her love story. I wish there was a better family dynamic that also included all the sisters since the other two sisters were kinda neglected outside their brief non-family related side story. All the love relationships sucked and all of them ended up being underdeveloped because there was no room for them since the drama heavily focus on the handful of scattered secrets which occupied the entire runtime. The drama had a big problem in tying loose threads most of which were neglected until the end which resulted in a rushed ending trying to tie all the loose threads quickly. Speaking of the ending, it kinda sucked and really rushed without much thought put into it. The drama had nice moments when it comes to "family" scenes but unfortunately it's lacking a lot in all of the other areas.

The gentle Geum family --their daughters and adopted son-- that shows us how to forgive, show empathy and genuinely care for each other. It is possible to be more forgiving than retaliation. Golden Pouch relieves us from stress that we are feeling now. I would rate my all-time favorite Golden Pouch as one of the best daily drama series. Veteran Ahn Nae-Sang with his A-class acting performance. Actor Jin Yi Han shows his multifaceted performance convincingly as Dr. Han Seok Hoon and his magical unrivaled on-screen chemistry with Actress Ryu Hyo Young. Wish for "Golden Pouch" season II, or/and another stunning pairing of Mr. Jin Yi Han and Miss Ryu Hyo Young in upcoming daily/weekend dramas or epic historical dramas.

kdramafunfan Dec 19 2021 8:26 pm epi 12 just started a bit slow and boring but thats fine cz lots of dramas are like this in the beginning where the stories or plots havenot even started yet but the comments are good so i will stick with it plus i like the lead fem this is only the 2nd time watching her but the lead male is total opposite i dont like him at all to the point that can make dump this drama all together this is the only negative thing from this drama plus am also watching at the same time first love again epi 18 and likeable or not epi　40 which are getting all my attention now cz they are very interesting and am liking them a lot so lets see how this thing evolves

archel loja Jun 29 2021 11:12 am i just finished watching all 122 episode . theres a lot of lesson to learn,i sometimes cried and smile. this kdrama is unforgettable especially Geum Jeong Do,Geum Seol hwa and dr han seok hoon! i really love the onscreen chemistry of dr han and ms geum seol hwa.! all cast portrayed thier role very well!! hoping for another project for Jin Yi-han And Ryu Hyo Young!highly recomended this Golden Pouch ! fighting =)

Liemak Mar 19 2021 8:06 am I really like the Director of the show, Mr. Kim Dae Jin, he did a fantastic work in "Golden Pouch". I really love the original sound tracks in "Golden Pouch", each score helps creating the desired effects and make audiences feel the tensions or attractions between the characters in all episodes.

Also, there are powerful long speeches and long dialogues between the main leading male and female protagonists, Dr. Han Seok Hoon and Miss Geum Seol Hwa (portrayed by actorJin Yi Han/Kim Ji Han and actress Ryu Hyo Young) and other cast members; I really appreciate their hard work and effort in memorizing and acting to tell the story. Bravo to the writer, Lee Hye Seon.

The communications between the persons in the drama is very often not like in the real world, sometimes very stupid. And the theme of the drama is not presented seriously. On episode 23, I thought that these good and poor family could be resident in a mental home and everything, the whole drama could be take place there. The film director tried to make a comedy, but he failed. This made the whole drama absurd and unlikely. I'm considering now, whether to watch or not to watch it.

I am so disappointed that he did not win the Excellence Award, Actor in a Soap Opera in 2017 MBC Drama Awards for "Golden Pouch". He conveys all different dimensions of emotions from an arrogant genius cardio thoracic surgeon (Dr. Han Seok Hoon), to a man that loses his memory, to a man that feels the pain of loving Miss Geum Seol Hwa (the love of his life), to a man that almost loses Miss Geum Seol Hwa to heart failure. Actor Jin Yi Han/Kim Ji Han is a true method actor of our time. Salute to Kim Dae-jin, the director and also to Lee Hye-sun, the writer of "Golden Pouch", it is a beautiful story. I hope MBC would make "Golden Pouch" season II to conclude the story.

Quantum nurse Jul 06 2020 4:26 pm I just finished watching all 122 episodes and have been re-watching the series for more than half a dozen times from beginning to end. I really enjoyed the series because it tells us about how to live our lives to the fullest, and the meaning of families in our lives.

The wisdom and advice from Mr. Geum Jung-do to his adopted son (Dr. Han Seok-Hoon) and his three daughters (Geum Doo-na, Geum Seol-hwa, and Geum Se-na) are so meaningful and heartwarming. The phrases that Grandma Yoon uses also remind me of our elders when they describe the most basic rule of good manners.

Dr. Han Seok-Hoon and Miss Geum Seol-Hwa have excellent on-screen chemistry, one of the best I have ever seen, it is unrivaled by any other K-drama series. We really think they have been in love for centuries in “Golden Pouch”. I truly believe I am watching a true story rather than fictional K-drama series. Seol-Hwa is so lovely. Dr. Han is so kind and never gives up on his patients, including his love of his life "patient", Seol-Hwa. He is really serious on his work in the surgical theater. Dr. Han and Miss Geum Seol-Hwa's love is so pure and genuine.

I truly hope for a happy ending for both Yoon and Geum families, and for Dr. Han and Ms. Geum, a match made in heaven.

The character portrayed by taltal is not good. He has always been a nice guy in all his drama full or supporting. But in horaay he is evil. I hope he will not accept bad roles in the futute. it will destroy his image as taltal.

yoon May 07 2020 2:39 am I love the series. It makes me laugh, cry, angry, aha feeling, a lot of emotions. Jin yi han is amazingly good actor. Many of us in this country are expecting a drama series with ha ji won as her leading lady. We are really expecting it since empress ki but it seems no producer im korea is hearong our plea.

shortfus Jun 28 2018 7:39 pm Every time I watch a K-drama and I watch a lot of K-dramas, I have the same question as the Star Wars Fan, "Doesn't anyone in Korea lock their house door?!!" Yeap, people just walk into any house and take things, over-hear things, day or night. And yes, there is no confidentiality in Korea - anyone could just walk into an orphanage or a hospital and get whatever information they want. At least in K-drama they can. I hope.

I also want to know since when do guys (specifically, Kim Gi-Han) wear more make-up than girls?! OMG, this guy has more lipstick, eye-shadow and foundation on than all the young actresses on this show! Every time he is on, I don't hear what he is saying (he is so stiff in his delivery), I just watch his face to see what color lipstick he is wearing.

This had me flipping through so many emotions from angry, sad, to actual crying, and happiness I almost thought I was bipolar. (Sorry if that's offensive, don't mean it that way) anyways, i just love this kdrama. I love how kdrama doesn't make the guys all macho all the time, and actually show emotions other than pride and anger, like men cry too. I was crying with them, and I'm not even a cryer. And can Kim ji-han like marry Me? Jk. Lol

Unfortunately Jae Rim does not know that Min Hee is the one who pusher herself on Joon Sang because she was going to spill the beans.

Jung-Do's bubble burst on his love for Nan Sul now that he found out what she did and that Jin Joo passed away. Tsk Tsk.

I have a hunch Min-Hee is not going to leave Shin Wo. Better to be with him than moving back in with her mother.

David Jun 17 2017 3:01 am That money grubbing witch Min-Hee, who is like her mother, blames everyone for whatever happens to her. She is the witch that forced Joon Sang to marry her and now it is his fault that he is not the true son.

Just to continue to stay in that house and reap the benefits, she doesn't care who she hurts. I wish someone would slap her in the face a few times.

I know Joon Sang was not an "angel," but I hope he would divorce Min-Hee and she and her mother would live in the gutter. Both are just hateful people.

Gwi-Jung did the same thing to her son, Min-Kyoo. She forced him to lie about the death of the patient that it wasn't his fault. Even though he did wrong, he continued to be upset about it. Even though he was not penalized for the patient's death???!!! he now has turned his life around for the good.

Now the only thing left for me to do is to cry. I want to thank the entire crew of "Golden Pouch" for the truly wonderful moments I spent watching their work, and which lightened up my mood during the past few months. I hope they had the same pleasure making this drama as I had watching it, and I hope to see other works from them one day.

This drama gives an understanding to live in honesty, sincerity if we want to live happily. Greed will only lead to misery. The end message: "never hide and find our own treasure" .... It's a good drama, good acting, good story, good director, good movie crew .. happy to watch it... Kamsahanida.

The problems I had with this last episode or drama as a whole, besides being rushed... - Not enough screen time for the leads. I mean I would've like to see them happy together towards the end but the thing is that they would always be stressed about something when they were together throughout this drama. - No punishment for Min Hee and her mom? - What? I mean we see Min Hee getting to police custody for interrogation and a small scene of her mom coming out of jail but that's it? Of all the bad crap they've done to the leads, this is all the writers have to show? - There should've been a scene where Seok Hoon and Ji Sang meets up after finding out they are brothers. An emotional reunion would've been great but that didn't happen. - Halmoni now recognizes Seok Hoon as Joon Sang? Okay... like how? All the sudden she seems him as Joon Sang. No clarification on this as well. We also do not know if she remembered again on being told the truth about the switch of the two boys. - Small scene in Ep 122: Min Hee still likes Shin Woo a.k.a fake Joon Sang? When did she developed feelings for him? I thought she was in it just for the money. Again no signs of really loving Shin Woo in the drama. - Jung Do & Choo-Ja situation: I get why she would be mad because he lied to her saying Seol Hwa was her blood daughter but what led her to think he and Nan Seol had something going on? Kind of not needed in this drama. Also did she ever forgave him? I saw it more like she pity him.

The only good thing about this drama were Doo-Na and Min Kyu. I always like seeing their scenes. Although I didn't like Min Kyu in the beginning, he manage to change his ways and become a better character. He seems like the only one that had character development. Min Kyu and Doo-Na were a cute couple. Sadly to say, they outshine the lead couple by far.

Okay I'm done venting. Note to self: Stick with 16 or 20 episodes drama.

Sunbeam May 29 2017 4:13 am When Hye-Ri found out from Doo-Na and Min-Kyoo that Dr. Han's father is not his father, and Hye-Ri runs in to call evil conniving Min-Hee to tell her Dr. Han knows that man is not his father, etc. I found it very unrealistic that Doo-Na and Min-Kyoo did not hear what she was telling Min-Hee. In those houses you can hear everything, including when a person has a house with rooms and wooden doors.

It is interesting Min-Hee hears everything with and without doors, and DN and MK could not!!! These dramas are so stupid and unrealistic.

Plus this says "All Kinds of Daughters-in-law" will take the Mon-Fri time slot starting from June 5th. So doesn't that mean at most 5 more episodes from Golden Pouch? That would make more sense to me and let every problem this drama had being solved.

Star Wars Fan May 19 2017 1:10 am Doesn't any one in Korea lock the doors to their house?? Any one can walk in any time they feel like and take whatever they want. How stupid is this. It happens in every show. People take toothbrushes and the person doesn't miss the toothbrush. What do they do - brush their teeth with their fingers and think nothing of the brush being gone.

Strange how Min-Hee is at the right place every time to hear everything and she figures everything out before everyone else.....same story line in Blow Breeze.

I hope this has a good ending similar to Blow Breeze.

margaret May 16 2017 9:57 am I am on ep 108 and out of everyone in this show the most i feel sorry for is Geum Sul-Hwa, as it seems she is the one to always get crapped on. First she gives up jobs for her sister that treats her like &hit and then she does not get to marry Yoon Joon-Sang and then winds up going to marry Han Suk-Hoon and now he drops her like a hot potato. What will happen when she finds out that her dad is not her dad and who her real mother is, this will tear her heart out. I just hope the writters allow her to have some sort of happy ending. I know the hateful ones in this story will not go down as the Suk-Hoon will allow them to keep in the family and allow him to stay in the company along with his crocked wife and in-law. My only wish is Sul-Hwa has a happy ending and dont care about the rest of the bunch, well i like Doo-Na and her husband, hope they end well together too.

AY May 11 2017 9:36 am Writers build on a synopsis before the writing start, so the set up may differ from the development of the story.. Family dramas usually have a more traditional set up and the usual plots since the target audience are the matured aunties. If you watch with no expectations, the actors' performance are quite entertaining and most of them are doing a great job! And the story is coming to an end soon, it should be a happy ending as I predict ;) now going for FIVE ENOUGH. It is a must watch. Heart warming and sweet

I believe he will let everyone stay in there place and not except being the next ceo of the company and allow those evil hateful people to keep their places and allow them to live the rich life. The writters are making it so stupid that i cant even watch it anymore. It too much bull crap in the show and really how can anyone get by with doing all that crap and never get caught. I dont know if he will even marry her, heck he might drop her too I think i will just watch the previews on u tube and skip the show

margaret May 04 2017 1:38 pm watching ep 103 and wonder how can these people be so stupit and how does she get by with everything she is doing, does not no one even notice her and her actions. I just hope when he finds out who his real father is he does not allow Yoon Joon-Sang to take over the company because he has been in that family for so long. It would really *iss me off if that Min-Hee and him wind up with the company after all they have done to everyone. I just hope those two along with her mother get the justice they deserve in the end, live in a tiny apartment with no riches but I don't see it that way as Han Suk-Hoon is too nice of a person right along with Ryu Hyo-Young, they may just let them stay and over look all the wrong they have done.

I was happy Min-Hee and her family lost their house. I cannot stand Sa Gwi-Jung at all. How could Min-Kyoo's stupid idiot mother tell him "to go work in a hospital." Would any one hire him? These dramas are so stupid at times.

I also hope Joon-Sang does not end up marrying Min-Hee. Hopefully another girl will come into the picture. Won't she be surprised when she finds out JS is not the real son.

margaret Apr 28 2017 10:09 am I am on ep 99 and I cant wait until the time when everything is exposed, I cannot stand that *itch Bae Min-Hee and her mother, I hope they both go down and wind up with nothing, I love her brother and his relationship he has with Doo-Na it so sweet and he cares for her so much. I did at first like Yoon Joon-San but now he has gone to the evil side and I hope he winds up with his wife and mother-in-law away from everyone else. Yes his childhood sucks but to keep it a secret why go bad just because your wife is a money grobber. I dont know how things will turn out but I hope all ends well with Han Suk-Hoon and Geum Sul-Hwa, i always did like them from the beginning. Guess have to wait and see what happens and who ends up with whom and who becomes the real son in this show. Won't the grandmother and father have a fit since they care about him so much to realize he is the real son and what will happen to the fake son?????

Won Apr 25 2017 3:32 am Great drama despite being one of the Ryu twins is in it. Its predictable but the casts are all doing well. The plot could go on even without her role, to be honest.

How in the heck did Mr. Kim who works for creepy Sa Gwi-Jung get his hands on information from the orphanage that Geum Jung and Nan-Sul lived at the orphanage???? Isn't that confidential information??? I don't believe an orphanage would give that info out to any person who walks in off the street. I can't believe this. In Mom is Pretty drama, the same thing happened where the orphanage gave out info on a child who was living there to a person who did not eve adopt the child. Is this legal????

Un modeste admirateur Apr 16 2017 11:20 am I am at ep. 95, and I am amazed how this drama is managing to remain as suspensful and as relevant as ever, despite all the months that have passed. This kind of feat requires an exceptional consistancy of production and writing quality. I can count on the tips of my fingers the dramas that have succeeded to sustain such quality over 50+ episodes. What is even more amazing in the case of "Golden Pouch" is that no new characters whatsover have been introduced since the beginning. Instead, new layers of depth are constantly being added to the few existing characters, and I love this.

YAZZ Apr 05 2017 5:53 pm I'm back, and I still love this show. Just finished ep89, the whole picture of all the characters coming together, the complete story-line. Let me just say, when ep120 has aired, I am really going to miss these 25 min every night. I love love DooNa's character and how MinKyu really stepped up his game and finally matured. SeNa is still a bit immature and she need a good kick from someone, cause she is what a call a shallow person. But I do think she will turn out fine and start acting not as a spoiled kid (or as a kid who never gets what it wants, and yet the kid has already everything it could ask for). Looking forward to the coming 30 episodes.. Time flies.

Without giving out the plot too much, I am just gonna say that the mother who had abandonned her own child is currently stealing all the show. I had previously applauded the performance of some of the actors, but the actress who is playing this role of the mother is an unexpected revelation for me: she had to turn around her character completely, from a heartless gold-digger to a woman who is full with maternal care and regrets, and she succeeded flawlessly.

This is partly why I like "Golden Pouch" so much: it's that tangled situations get undone in a timely fashion, and almost naturally, as if pulling the thread of a ball of strings. One thing that is still puzzling me, though, is that the "Golden Pouch" posters show a picture of a quite stunning traditional restaurant that I haven't seen so far in the drama. This leads me to think that the Geum family may be moving to a 3rd restaurant one day. Yet another reason to watch what will happen next...

Sunbeam Feb 15 2017 4:10 am I don't like Se-Na very much and for some reason, she seems to be more like an adopted child as opposed to Sul-Hwa. Sul-Hwa appears to fit in better with the Geum family than Se-Na.

She should be Gwi-Jung's daughter. They can give each other a run for the money. For some reason Se-Na thinks she is better than other people

I knew from when Se-Na and Ji-Sang met for the first time, they probably would end up together. I was hoping that would not happen as I think Ji-Sang is too nice of a guy for her. If she marries Ji-Sang, then she can have money and live like the queen she hopes to be.

But I think, also looking at the flashbacks in the series of the fire, that Han Suk-Hoon is the real son of the mother/friend of Jung-Do and Nan-Sul. And for what it counts, I'd already expected Sul-Hwa to be the daughter of Nan-Sul, but really am dubbing to find out who the father is, as its not Jung-Do, or is it?

But how Joon-Sang fits into the picture I don't know, I really like his character though. But he will be the one that gets heartbroken by Sul-Hwa, as she will end up with Han Suk-Hoon, not to forget about Ji-Sang and Se-Na. And I love, love Doo-Na, and how the heck se got entangled with Min-Kyoo, genius.

@Seachelle I do believe the same, many hints are revealed through eps, all leads me to that conclusion. Madam Mo saying "you're nothing to this family" was the clue that made me sure that my doubts are true.

There are many theories surrouning "Fake Joon Sang" and other secrets this drama has. I really enjoy reading comments and speculations out there they give a unique experience through out our journey of watching this lovely drama. Make sure all of you enjoy it too!

I think Joon Sang is a fake. Both he and Seok Hoon were involved in the same fire as children. The grandmother has said several times that she feels a special connection to Seok Hoon, as well. This could explain why the stepmom is paranoid about Joon Sang working in the company. She's in on the scheme and knows the truth!

It's well known to us that Korea was suffering from political presidential issues and the next elections is a turning point for their country.

We are misfortuned, but the show will continue, the cast is currently shooting, I bet they reached ep 88 while we still in 57 ?. No worries guys.

Se Na probably will end up marry Yoon Ji-Sang, unfotunately. I hope that doesn't happen as I like him.

I have to admit that the story got my attention to continue watch this drama . so far watched 4 epiosdes and now will start to watch 5/6/7/8 in raw and if i get more time will continue with episodes 9/10 . Me too! This drama has slowly become part of life, I can't imagine myself to live a day without. I've never watched any daily drama before, but this one made me realize the power of Daily Dramas if they are good.

Each ep takes just 30 mins of your time, this is tempting enough, why not to watch? it's only 30 mins before tou realize it's become a habit to watch it every day, Congrats! this "30 mins" has become "part of your life", It's addictive and slowly captivates you!

I am only at ep. 51 and I already fear the moment when this drama will come to end, and when I won't have new episodes to look forward to; that moment will be really, really sad for me. I don't know if "Golden Pouch" is getting any recognition or awards in Korea, but if I could, I would give it all the recognition and all the awards in the world. Keep up the fantastic work, actors, writers, and drama makers! P.S. As a French-speaker, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the song "Tombe la neige" in ep. 41.

It's been 29 episodes already, and each of them is as great as the very first episode. I spent part of Christmas watching "Golden Pouch" with friends and family, and they all are hooked now.

But Ji-Hans character has a really intriguing storyline and I love him as an actor. I haven't seen Hyo-Young before but she was a good choice of casting to put alongside Ji-Han. She really suits the role of her character with his.

I know that for some people, family dramas are a "no, no" and I respect that, but this particular drama is too good to be missed, regardless of what genre you like or dislike. The two main leads (Kim Ji-Han and Ryu Hyo-Young) were a little bit hesitant in the first few scenes, but now, they are throwing sparkles every single time they meet. Also, some of the supporting cast deserves an award in my book, especially the actor playing the father (Ahn Nae-Sang) for his emotional role. But above all, the writing and directing are impeccable, and there are true gems hidden inside the dialogs and the storyline.

I had no idea that Han Suk-Hoon would end up becoming a dumpling master until I've read the summary 1min ago, which I personally consider quite a big spoiler as someone who have been watching the series without knowing about it until now...

I especially like how the parents of the girl got to pretend to be the parents of their future son-in-law. It's not easy to make believable such a situation, but the writer succeeded flawlessly. And much more remains to happen, as the surgeon turns into a dumpling master. I am genuinely impatient to see how all this unfolds. Apparently the drama will be 120 eps, but don't let this scare you, as each episode only lasts 29-30 min. On a final note, all the actors look convincing in their role. I had already seen many of them. I am seeing for the first time Ryu Hyo-Young, and she's surprisingly great, despite being an idol.
