Set immediately after movie "Golden Kamuy," the hunt for the escaped prisoners with the tattoos that collectively reveal the location of hidden gold is in full swing. Retired war veteran Saichi Sugimoto (Kento Yamazaki) and Ainu native Asirpa (Anna Yamada) are in the hunt to find the gold before others do so and their journey to find the gold nuggets enters a new phase.

The movie was one of my favorite japanese movies of 2024. It was such an amazing experience on writing and direction, and Yutaka Yamada's was such an hyping ecstasy in each track. Movie was memorable in all... so of course i was hyped for the series to continue it.... I started it.... and i got out on episode 6 or so. If you loved the movie, this series when in a incredible 180. The tone of the series is incredibly unbalanced, nothing to do with the movie. The episodes are directed and written by diferent people, and the comedic part , well let say, the exagerated comedy is out of nowhere. "oh. but you have not read manga. its is like that" Yes, but, not everything works the same in multiple medias. Plus, the person who writes the manga, is not the best writter ever created in the world. Which is something people keep forgetting and making an adaptation to a certain media. The creators of a manga, let say this one, is not a perfect person doing perfect things. Certain things in visual change. "but if you read and see the anime you will understand" I dont have to read or see any, to understand the media presented to me. If i have to do that, to understand, then these people (the series production) are doing something really bad in their jobs.

On another aspect. the bear attack in the movie, was cgi, but was very good scene even with the visuals. the bear attacks in the series are guys in bear suits, and they are not even good ones. I have never seen such bad animal suits in my life. Some episodes the narratives, are ridiculous "are these people deaf and blind not really seeing guns out the windows and hearing the shots fired" There is so much you can stretch your suspense of disbelief. and these things are what exactly kills the mood in watching it. A serious tone, then suddenly overshadowed but... A Lot of continuity errors: Toshizo Hijikata pulling "Clark Kent's glasses" skill "no one will recognize me ever.... With A Scarf On My Head, Which I Will Still Take It Out And Everyone Will Still See My Face" is even ...worse, when later he appears in front of them again, And None Of Them Recognize Him Until Last Episode!

there is no perfect media, and there will never be. there is always a little mistake somewhere, doubtfull decisions, etc...

this series, feels like a scam. the movie was amazing, giving you such hype....to watch a series, that i dont feel that i wasted hours of my life, (i still want my hours back) because i still enjoy Anna Yamada and Kento Yamazaki chemistry!
