Lee Soo (Seo Ji-Hoon) is a blacksmith and lives with his father in the countryside. He is in love with Gae-Ddong (Gong Seung-Yeon). She is a bright and diligent woman, but she is all by herself. She is looking for her older brother, who was separated from her at an early age. Lee Soo wants to marry Gae-Ddong. To propose to Gae-Ddong and prepare for their wedding ceremony, Lee Soo hires the Flower Crew Matchmaking Agency. The agency consists of 3 handsome men: Ma Hoon (Kim Min-Jae), Do Joon (Byeon Woo-Seok) and Ko Young-Soo (Park Ji-Hoon). They are the best matchmaking agency in Joseon. On his wedding day, Lee Soo suddenly disappears.

Chi Feb 10 2023 10:40 pm Wonderful series except they missed the mark with the ending. Sent wrong message about love. In addition, the integrity of the Flower Crew should be that no member can have his own true life be but must be unrequited or incomplete through death. It’s the Yang Yang of the whole love experience. I hike they give others great and endless live, they sacrificially endure love’s other painful sides. Gate and Lee Soo’s devotion should have been rewarded. Is love and undying devotion even possible? I thought so but this show makes me question it now.

I liked the story, the acting was perfect, the chemistry was right, the music was wonderful…a great drama to watch. Maybe ep 16 was a little rushed but i liked the drama anyway. I highly recommend it to watch and judge for yourself. I definitely will watch it again! A fan from Belgium!

Kathy G Feb 06 2023 10:00 am I really enjoy K dramas and try to watch all different types. This one had a more simplistic storyline, but is very sweet. A nice change from all of the hate and violence on TV these days. I’m about half way through. I wish more of these could be dubbed, as sometimes I can only watch while doing chores. I appreciate the attention to detail. It was K Dramas like Crash Landing on You that prompted me to learn more about the Joseon and general Korean history.

Pen Feb 03 2023 10:23 am I'm about 6 episodes in and was wondering, if anyone that speaks this language and english...well, why do the male leads keep calling each other "Sis" according to the english subtitles on Netflix. In english, "Sis" is short for "Sister" which is what girls from the same family call each other or, sometimes, girls will call their female friends, "Sis". Are the male characters in this piece really calling each other "Sis/Sister"? Thank you in advance for any clarification!

Mariquit Jun 23 2022 7:42 pm I love watching period kdrama, but this one will be on my worst list. I'm not too fond of the love triangle in this series. I'm rooting for the king!!! There's no chemistry between the lead actors. The first few episodes were entertaining, but towards the end got me so bored. I swear, sometimes I was just skipping the parts, especially when the lead actors went to the beach and played in the waters. Gosh, I can't stand watching them. I enjoyed the king's unwavering love for the lady, that's why I was really rooting for him.

His acting is amazing. I hve only seen him doing suporting roles before in some dramas like goblin and producers. I relly adores the chemistry between the female character Getting-e and Ma joon. Athough joon is looked like a cold hearted he is really a warm hearted man. This drama shows us how our destiny sould be made by our own wish. Although this has only 6./1 of IMDb ratings this is such a lovely drama.I hope to watch min jae's drama Do you like Brahms very soon. Try watching Flower crew. Hope you enjoy!!!

I really love to the chemistry between ma joon and Gettong-a .. This is my first time watching Kang Min Jae as the main role in a drama. Really he is a talented actor. First, I love Kim Min Jae's work. He is a great actor. His character was unlikeable, horrible, and selfish. They made him the typical lead. He hates his dad and owns this shop to rebel against his father. This boy got some tsundere vibe. It is okay because he is the lead. Throughout the whole show, he was annoying. He had rules he broke. He acted like an angst teenager. I saw no character development.

Second, the female lead was another problem. This is my second time watching the actress as a female lead. Loved her in Are you human? Amazing, girl crush vibes. But in this show, she was also selfish, obnoxious, and irritating. Her character wanted to be tough. With her acting, it felt unnatural. She is purposely trying to be the bruh girl.

Then you had the other two crew members. They needed more screen time. Park Ji Hoon's character had a great storyline. He comes from the lower class and found his way to the top. So, I wished they had explored that and made use of it. As for Byeon Woo Seok, he was just you pretty boy. Nothing too much that stuck with me.

The writer made the villain so dumb. The villain was vanilla. The ice cream flavor had more personality than him. The worse part was his ending. It would have been interesting to see his madness with power. It was not satisfying.

Next, it would be the true victim of the show. Lee Soo dragged for the longest time. He could not catch a break. Spoiler he was kidnapped on his wedding day. The worse time to get kidnapped. That was cruel. Another thing, the writers must have hated his guts. In episode 10, he just was sad the entire time. What is even worse is that he heard Dae Gong's confession to Ma Hoon. So heartbreaking to know that your loved one is in love with another.

The purpose of this plotline was for Lee Soo and Dae Gong's marriage. They scratched that idea and made another storyline. This premise made me so mad. You are promoting a show about marriage then suddenly it is about something different. I would not have been made at the show if it was not for the storyline.

He lost a friend that make him more relax in the palace. Maybe it's romantic comedy for other characters, but tragic melodrama for Lee Soo character. It's really to see him cry and feel pity for Lee Soo character. I hate overall drama because of that

People who want gae ttong to end up with the king might be missing his toxic, co-dependent nature. It's pretty obvious that gae ttong has never been in love with soo. I actually like how gae ttong didn't go down the path of "i'm gonna wait for him faithfully". It's more realistic that she fell in love with the person she was with. That makes her character more human. For Hoon, he was faithful to the king and to his job until the gae ttong made the first move. Even then, he was hesitant about his feelings. That's why he's my favorite character. His morals and gae ttong's freedom came first before his own happiness. Although, one flaw that I've found is this drama's tendency to give everyone a "tragic past" not to give dimensions to the characters but to move the plot forward. Overall, this drama is heavily plot-driven. The circumstances might not be realistic but the characters' choices are. Thus, this drama might not be for everyone.

Kim Tae Hyung May 17 2020 10:36 am Hi I’m currently watching this drama and I’m at episode 14 and I’m just here to share my point of view with the comments where they thought the king should have still be with the gaettong and not matchmaker Ma. I just want to point out that so far watching till episode 14 that isn’t the king being a bit selfish and suffocating or toxic. He had every opportunity before gaettong truly realized her confusing feelings and just confess the truth about his identity to her. Plus the fact that she should have known the truth and have the right to decide for herself and not let someone (king and matchmaker ma) decide for her future. But no he left her in the dark the situation he is in is not as simple as he thinks. Another thing is yes he is a king and he can protect the people he loves but if he could see that even his father failed to keep his mother inside the palace with them I don’t know yet what happened why they had to run but an example right there that in order for he’s late father to protect him in some way he sent them outside to be safe and away from the dangers in the palace. I know the promise gaettong and him was made but the situation there in has changed tremendously and he should give gaettong a chance to decide to take his hand again. The path he wants gaettong is a prickly path let’s face it and he should have known better considering all the people who died and sacrificed for him as a king well that’s my conclusion.

randomperson May 11 2020 1:40 am I honestly thought this was a good drama. We can't blame the female lead if she falls in love with Matchmaker Ma. In real life you don't always end up with the one who is always is there for you, who is basically your comfort zone, considering the king was MIA and Gae-Ddong knows nothing about his whereabouts. There is a greater chance that you'll fall to the person who is there with you when you thought everyone has left you, help you grow as person, teach you things and become a better version of yourself.

But the plot became more and more complex after its 10th episode. Jihoon's acting was very great here! But TBH I hate gae ttong here. She's selfish

seerie Feb 10 2020 3:21 pm I decided to watch it because I like main actor and main actress from variety show but in my opinion, there was no chemistry btw them, there were plenty parts that not make sense and somehow inmoral, and main actress acting was so unnatural here. What kept me watch it till the end was the king character. For the rest I skipped a lot. Again I love the king and now looking forward to his new drama.

christina Jan 12 2020 2:14 am I love sageuk dramas for the costumes and Hanok but they are usually sad stories as those were the period where injustice strive. So was looking forward to watch it as it says romatic-comedy....but how is it a comedy? It was such a sad story. It is especially unfair for Lee Soon....grew up miserably as blacksmith though a prince but shaft onto the throne to be a puppet king losing all freedom including all that was dear to him. Agree with others here that Gae-ddong's unfaithfulness was upsetting and her behaviors (maybe the expectation of director) was totally not possible during that period...throwing herself all too often at guys.

For me it was a good K-Drama but not as memorable and capivating as others. I enjoyed whatching it and I found the main couple cute together (I don't know about the others but I liked their chemistry). Maybe I have strange tastes but I dropped Extraordinary you cus' near the end I found the main couple too cheesy and got kinda bored but got finish and liked this one. Overall it was an enjoyable kdrama

I have read many comments saying that this drama is bad or boring, or some dropped it because of the plot or the bad chemistry between the leads, or they want Gae-Ddong to be with Soo. I really wanted to postpone this drama. HOWEVER, I gave it a chance and watch it. And I'm GLAD that I watched it. For me, I liked this drama like any drama. Maybe some people like the comments weren't their type of drama, but some will love it, like me.

There is no chemistry between the leading couples, the scenarios that were leading to the development of the relationships also deemed to be forcefully applied. I cannot feel any love except for Seo JiHoon's Soo and Byeon Woo Seok's Do Joon, they totally made me feel heart wrenching for being broken hearted. I am getting really bored..

Jammer Dec 01 2019 1:35 am the first time i began hating the lead roles ... i call the opportunistic arrogant snake hoon ... he took advantage of the situation by flirting to gaetong after knowing gaetong likes him betraying the trust of the king to him ... what happened to his flower crew handbook so he even disregard their own rules ... then gaetong the annoying unfaithful girl whom after only some time automatically fell in love with the opportunistic snake hoon ... this drama fails miserably ... i am an avid fan of saeguk may it be based on historical facts or simply fiction but this one i can not commend the writer ...for me it only leaves a bad taste for the lead role hoon and me wanting not to follow any of his future drama's makes me not a fan of him ... sorry kim min jae ... your role here ruined your personality hahahaha i liked the role of do joon ...

Too many coincidence between the matchmaker n gae dong so i guess the 2 will be belong together like a fate.From 1st eps can feel the gaedong girl only have brotherly affection to the blacksmith son.btw if the blacksmith is going to be a king he better git married to someone who is from powerful family who can protect his status in the long run.

Go watch extra ordinary you or tale of nokdu instead its way better. this show is all eye candy and for people who are into idol gushing than great storytelling.

Dive Nov 17 2019 6:24 pm I finished this in 2 days! I loved it even if this is not purely romcom. Prepare for usual historical elements like murder, torture, treason, poisoning, etc.. But I laughed most of the time. I decided to watch it because of Gong Seung Yeon who played the female lead. Newbie actor Seo Ji Hoon nailed the King's role. Awesome chemistry among the flower crew esp Gae Ddong and Ko Young Soo who always would for for money and gold. haha Don't miss the cameo of Choi Jin Hyuk , so funny and unexpected!

cy Nov 16 2019 6:09 am in episode 1 my mind was already hooked and was on soo and gae ddongs' side but then he was kidnapped to the palace and everything goes very wrong I was feeling as if the writter was pushing hoon and ddong together for no reason at all and trying to spoon feed it to me which didn't worked, even at the end I wasn't satisfied.well all I can say is that this was badly plan and written, if soo was good and devoted but ddong didn't accept him at the beginning or soo was bad or hoon was extraordinary special going to great lengths in showing his love or soo found love again or soo haven't gone to great lengths in order to marry ddong, then maybe all my attention wouldn't have been on soo and ddong. (all I can say about the drama is hmmm)

shkorea Nov 14 2019 5:42 pm I really don’t understand why this series was supporting the relationship between Gaettong and Hoon. Despite the brotherly love of Gaettong to Soo that some folks mentioned here, the fact she accepted Soo’s marriage proposal was enough already for her to honor and commit to the relationship. On top of that, when Soo was missing, she should have waited for any evidence that Soo died, left or abandoned her for selfish reason. Instead she went with Hoon, a guy who never had any intention starting a relationship with her, nor bothered even to court her to make Gaettong her lover. Of course, given that it’s Hoon’s first close interaction with a lady who he spent most of his time with, and Gaettong was heartbroken, it’s no surprise that both sides will develop feelings for each other.

Aside from that, I find Gaettong selfish as well. As soon as he had his brother at home, instead of spending time together to catch up, she instead spent it with Hoon, running around the beach. She forgot her true reason why she’s been working nonstop at the market just to finance the search of her brother.

For me, she should have gave Soo a chance to fully realize her feelings for him, rather than dismiss him totally and be bias with her feelings for Hoon, which she obviously developed from the times they were together while looking for Hoon and her brother.

This series surely shows how a person can be unfaithful due to distance and time. Yes, it’s easy to say that we’re just merely humans with feelings, but if one can’t be trusted with their commitment, what’s the use of loving someone then if time and distance can easily swayed one’s heart to change?

This drama is very good & entertaining. It's light, warm, and well written. The story is engaging. The acting is all superb. I didn't expect all the young actor will be showing good acting skill. I kind a have low expectation because the title is using 'flower' word which is for all the good looking boy in it. And yes they are all very handsome but their acting is really really good!!!

Especially the king and Ma Hoon. All the young, handsome, and skillful actor. I'm older but really taken aback by their characters!

I've never watching the king loves. But will do soon after I finished watching this.

Alright.. I know majority of the comments here are bad and find the drama boring, but we do have different tastes so I'll spill mine.

First and foremost this drama is not about the love story of the king (opppsss a little spoiler there), but rather the story of Flower Crew members (as the title entails). This is a story about how LOVE knows no boundaries.. about how two people proved their love against all odds even to the person of highest authority. This is not just about loving another person but as well as loving and accepting yourself, for who you are, for who you are not, for what you have and for what you do not have.

Hence, I totally love this drama.. I love the casts, I love their acting.. I must commend Jihoon (I'm not a fan as an idol.. sorry) but he's really great for a beginner.. hope to see him in another drama (might become a fan) P.S. if you are looking for not common love story (well because of the bad comments here) then I totally recommend this drama. I hope we all found someone in our life and be our own matchmaker. ???

Ahreum Nov 05 2019 2:51 am Ughh with everything that's been building up, how the heck are they going to fit that into ONE episode!! it's near impossible if there is going to be a decent ending without rushing everything. A better storyline would be if they kept the girl in the palace and eventually made her a love interest for the king. Without Gaettong, I think he'd genuinely would fall in love with that girl. It could've been written out as she goes to the 'lovers bridge' finds that her lover is with another girl and she and the king would accidentally walk into each other. The drama behind Gaettong's identity could've still happened and Soo would have a new reason and person to fight for.

Needs work but that storyline definitely could've gone somewhere.

Deserve it or not, the king's and gaettong's love line is done. He still deserves a happy ending though for being the most understanding man in all of Joseon so that friend in the palace would've been perfect. Her chemistry with the king was too special to be cut short.

She even refused Soo's proposal at first only when he mentioned that they will be a family that she agreed (because for me that's what she wanted the most especially when her brother is still missing). The wedding was cancelled, she met Hoon who she falls in love with (true love, unlike the her brotherly love for Soo). But before she realized her feelings for Hoon, she already promised to marry Soo again, that's why it's hard for her to tell Soo her true feelings. She felt guilty for hurting Soo but she just fall in love, so don't hate her and Hoon. Soo deserves a happy ending too, but it's not with Gae Dong..

Realistic? Where? If this realistic, Gae Ddong would've been trying to find Soo instead of actively falling for another man. Also, after she found out he didn't abandon her like Hoon told her, she would've called out Hoon. Cause who tells a woman her fiancee abandons her when he didn't? Also she would at least be happy Soo is okay and not treat him like somebody she just met. Also she would insist on going with him. This writer did stick to the cliche love stories. Do you watch K dramas? Cause like most k dramas the main lead guy gets the girl and it is also one sided. Brave enough would've been a real love triangle, balance, and the second lead getting the girl.

Gae Ddong and Hoon's relationship is far from true. Yes, Gae Ddong was devastated and broken and right Hoon helped her. They don't share an honest relationship. Hoon been lying to her. First, he told her Soo abandoned her. Second, he could've told her Soo was King many times and yet he didn't. He proposed to her and still let her go to the palace without knowing the truth. Hoon hasn't proved he is a man who has a spine and determined. All he did was show he is arrogant just like his father. You think he would be standing up to Soo if his father wasn't who he is? No.

Soo did lie to Gae Ddong but so did Hoon. Soo should've told her he was King. Soo did tell her the truth though. He didn't abandon her. Hoon literally told her Soo abandoned her but when he didn't. Hoon didn't tell Gae Ddong his father kidnapped Soo. Soo wanted to marry Gae Ddong cause he loves and supported her. Gae Ddong agreed. Soo should let Gae Ddong go and move on. Soo loves himself more? I know you are being bias. Imagine saying Soo loves himself more when you defending Hoon. Hoon is arrogant as hell. Hoon knew Soo was risking everything for Gae Ddong and told him not to. He was okay with it once it benefited him. Soo is thinking having Gae Ddong in the palace with him will keep her safe. The biggest mistake Soo made was trusting Hoon with Gae Ddong. I wonder had Soo known Hoon's father was his biggest enemy would he have done it. Probably no.

Soo needs to let Gae Ddong go. Cause the palace life won't fit her. Maybe Soo will realize that palace life won't make Gae Ddong happy. I am glad I didn't ship Soo with Gae Ddong. He deserves better than her. If only his friend in the palace had lived.

The real essence of this drama? It is a cliche k drama. It is predictable with plotholes. Being rushed in the end. The drama had potential but the writer drop the ball.

People changes as time pass by. Feelings either grow stronger or fainter. Not because the first one came earlier it means that the love can be demanded. Love can never be begged from another. It will only based on how you feel towards another. And it will always be a choice, a decision to make. I like the fact that the writer is brave enough to show this kind of love story for everyone to see and not to stick to the cliche love stories to secure high ratings.

For me, Ma Hoon and Gae Ddong's relationship is far more true than that Gae Ddong and Soo. When a groom suddenly disappears at the wedding day, the bride is left devastated and broken. Ma Hoon came to Gae Ddong's side in her lowest times. And they share a relationship that is very honest since the beginning. They grew from getting on each other's nerves to being close. Ma Hoon proved to be a man with a spine with strong determination to fight for what he believes and care about.

Soo may have loved Gae Ddong all the while but since he became a King, he started lying to her to hide his identity and the reason he was taken on the day they were about to get married. Gae Ddong was right, Soo decided the marriage on his own, afraid that Gae Ddong will back out. That way, he disregarded Gae Ddong feelings which should be a man's priority in the very start. Soo loves himself more than to consider Gae Ddong's opinion. Even Ma Hoon knew Soo was doing it all wrong but can't help but follow his orders.

True love is letting the other person be truly happy. That is not the case for Soo in this drama so far.

Other viewer's can hate, but I hope the real essence of the drama be appreciated and considered before that, not only based on their favorite actor or biases.

Great job for this drama and all the artists! Really loved this and seeing it through the ending!

I'd have sent her on to his "father's" care at the border. Ma Hoon and Gae Dong are horrible to Soo. If I were Soo as King I'd have Ma Hoon strung up, as Soo really did trust this guy, it just goes to show you that you should never trust a guy (that you hardly even know) with your woman. I wouldn't mind if GD and MH were to have a horrible fate at the end at this point. Soo deserves so much better. It sucks that his friend was killed. Soo should've never been lenient with his eunuch.

I really don't like the fact that Gae Tong fell for another guy easily, it's as if she hadn't love Soo in the first place. I feel so sad for Soo. I am only watching this because of Soo :( Soo deserves more than this pain. He did all for Gae Tong but in the end Gae Tong only leaves Soo hanging. It's like a saying in our place "You planted the seed (takes care of it all the time), but other person benefited.

This is the case for the tale of fairy with seo ji hoon and moon chae won where the difference in terms of age and moon chae won's mature looks are more prominent.. the result was good as their acting and chemistry overcomes everything.

So i don't see any issue here as long as the storyline and actings are good.

rosé Jul 24 2019 6:49 am yall are exaggerating, their gap is 3 years and it's not even 30 years that people will gag over it. i think it is unfair to fuss around with the age gap. age is not the basis of casting nor acting. it's the vision of the director choosing fit ones who may play the roles well and not ours. think of it how they got it, see and judge after you watch few episodes before complaining, and wanting other female actresses to act. this is why kdramas are unique, despite age, they prioritize the story first. well it's fiction guys. even (i'd love to see kim yoo jong here or the other well known child actresses) but i love to see fresh faces, new auras, and see how this whole shebang rolls ahead through it all Boom. Im looking forward to this, havent seen Seo Ji Hoon's acting!!!

Her age is not an issue at all bcs she still looks like a 20-22 year old. Visually, she fits extremely well with this cast. Amazing how no one blinks an eye at all the older male + younger female gaps we are subjected to where the man literally looks like he could be the female love interest's dad but suddenly wanna call the cops over a woman only a few years older than the male lead lol.

Anyway, this cast is legit. Lots of young, fresh talent climbing up the ladder and they're all gorgeous. A Flower Crew indeed.

Park Jihoon has been acting since he was eight years old, long before he was an idol and appeared in several dramas and musicals. You can check his wikipedia page for yourself to see his resume, his page here is quite new and missing nearly his whole history. There's also youtube videos dedicated to his television appearances as a child actor. This is not his first supporting role, this is his first supporting role as an adult. It is quite natural for someone who's been in the field as long as he has to begin taking bigger roles. For sure, his status as a famous idol means he's been offered plenty of lead/main roles but as you can see, he took a supporting role because he intends to do this correctly.

Umm not trying to be harsh here but i think it's time to stop casting idols or ex-idols who have had never acted before to play major roles in dramas. I'm not an anti of PJH or pessimistic or anything but it's just unfair to see a lot of rookie actors with great potentials still struggling hard for opportunities which apparently given too much for those idol actors in the industry whereas idol actors and in PJH's case, a former idol are given priority to be casted into playing some major roles in dramas despite lacking in experiences and skills
