ronlim Aug 15 2017 3:37 pm I have just finished watching the last episode of FABULOUS NEIGHBOUR (FN). It was a very moving romantic tv drama first shown in 2015 which recently made a very timely rerun. Even though the episodes were shown once a week in (three instalments) they were worth watching each week nonetheless, long intervals notwithstanding. Seldom does one get to enjoy a good Korean tv fare like FN. Despite the glut in new K-dramas being shown on tv it's difficult to find a show that contains a sensible and believable storyline with characters that are not overly cruel and/or greedy for wealth or power. Also, korean tv screen plots very often fall back on a character's rise from childhood days of poverty or loss of a parent (or an entire family) to present day situations affecting him/her. Also, being familiar with the psyche of Korean screenwriters from my years of watching Korean tv dramas, I very often foresee a twist in the plot just when the situation seems to go as the viewers expected. Usually a diversion in the plot should not lessen any interest in the storyline if the scripters (and film director) gave more thought to it. However in many Korean screen stories the villain often overcome the protagonist at the crucial moment of his downfall. The villain's "escape" would usually be attributed to a lack of vigilance or carelessness on the part of the good guys. This twist usually makes the good side look foolishly lacking (and thereby challenging viewers' intelligence). Thus said, I feel that if a twisted plot is for the sake of extending the length of a relatively good drama the studio involved had done viewers a grave injustice. Yet I notice this happening in many potentially good dramas time and time again! Are Korean viewers that shallow minded? Can a perfectly scripted ending of good trumping evil change so dramatically in favour of the villain? Shouldn't there be more acceptable reasons other than carelessness (eg.when a sensitive issue is discussed without privacy which allowed the villain to overhear and plan an escape strategy). Thus I find lengthening the storyline with more episodes by ridiculously twisting the plot in favour of the villain kills the viewers interest. In the case of FN the characters' roles were well portrayed and the story kept its direction with interest centered on the main and supporting actors. I noticed a few pretty and attractive co-stars who played their roles well and should appear more on the tv screen. Namely those who played the following characters: Yi Kung ( Park Tam Hee) Eun Sil (Ahn Yeon-Hong) Ms Ko,?-Su Rae's Manager-(?) Bong Hee (Jeon Ik Ryeong) Jung Ah (Lee Ja-Young) Particular mention must be made of actor Yoon Hee Seok who did an impressive portrayal of bad boy Seo Boon Gook. He stood head and shoulders over the rest of the male cast and got my utmost attention every time he appears onscreen.

It was Gong Su Rae who supposed to be loved by everyone. She did anything for everyone. She never complained for anything. Even for her 'unreal' daughter Yoo Na. Gong Su Rae is too good for them...

Wish Su Rae will find happiness with Chan Woo...

Nana Jan 13 2015 9:45 am Can't believe it i just saw the first few episodes and is not just a typical plot. I got to say the drama is pretty good so far. The only reason i started watching this drama is because of Seo Do-Yeong i've seen some of his work before and i am glad he has lead on this one, i haven't seen him be the male lead since spring waltz. In all i hope many of you would give this drama a chance.
