"Kirin ga Kuru" revolves around the life of Mitsuhide Akechi (Hiroki Hasegawa). He was a samurai and a general during the Sengoku period.

Notes

"Awaiting Kirin" takes over NHK's Sunday 20:00 time slot previously occupied by "Idaten" and followed by "Reach Beyond the Blue Sky."
"Kirin ga Kuru" is NHK's 59th taiga series.

Vi Apr 02 2021 11:40 am I'm going to help to answer several questions. Please excuse me, my english still a mess. But I hope it help ? @Mel Hashiba Hideyoshi formerly known as Kinoshita Tokichiro is played by Sasaki Kuranosuke.

@Seiji The story setting is in Sengoku Era (Warring State Periods) In this drama Kirin is mythological creature and believed by people of Mino (homeland of Akechi Mitsuhide) that will appear when the lands are in harmony and peace. I think they choose the title Awaiting Kirin because people are tired of endless war and kirin represent their hopes patience of waiting for a peacefull lands without a war.

@Takahashi As far as I know to became a host of an event like that choosed by the clan leader and usually they are a high ranking/position, with well known reputationor wealth. The event is like a face of the claleader wich means is to boost clan reputation and perstige. To put it simply, it's like a private party/event attended by guest(s) of honor and trusted or high ranked person usually had a political agenda. Because of the "political agenda" the host usually are the most trusted or the right hand of the clan's leader
