Plot

"29 Years" centers around a former soldier with a guilty conscience after his taking part, 29 years earlier, in the Gwangju Massacre, a real-life tragic episode in Korean history, in which state troops were ordered to open fire on civilians in the city, killing thousands. The former soldier sets out to assassinate the person suspected of ordering the massacre, namely former Korean president CHUN Doo-hwan.

Notes

  1. Movie is based off the Korean comic "26 Years." Because the movie is expected to be re1leased on the 29th anniversary of Gwangju Massacre, the movie's title has been changed to "29 Years."
  2. As of October 8, 2008 "29 Years" has been halted due to financing issues. Since the movie is centered around a sensitive real life situation fanciers have been reluctant to back this project. Chungeorahm Films has committed to financing 50% of the movie, but the filmmakers are now looking for additional funding. Actors have finished the script reading portion of the film making process.
  3. Original cast members were Kim Ah-Joong, Ryoo Seung-Bum, Jin Goo, Joo Jin-Mo, Han Sang-Jin, Cheon Ho-Jin and Byun Hee-Bong and movie was to be directed Lee Hae-Young.
  4. As of January 6, 2012 "29 Years" is going back into pre-production phase with Kwon Chil-In selected as the movie's new director.
  5. As of March 16, 2012, movie has been indefinitely postponed.
