Plot

Son Ji-Eun (Park Ha-Sun) moves to a small city due to her husband's new job as a civil servant. She works part-time at a mart. Son Ji-Eun is quiet and sincere. Her life in the small city becomes boring. Son Ji-Eun's life is shaken by Yoon Jung-Woo (Lee Sang-Yeob). Yoon Jung-Woo is a biology teacher at a local school.

The narration, park ha sun's voice and lee sang yeob's acting were overwhelming and I downloaded each episode so I could play it all over again. I fell in love too deeply with lee sang yeob here. His gaze and deep voice are heart fluttering. I highly recommend this drama to those who are looking for something to binge watch. I'm sure you'll love this as well.

Park Min Feb 20 2024 1:18 pm You'd think there was room for this deep dive into human desires and the messiness of relationships, but the drama just stumbled into this predictable mess of melodrama and characters you could barely see through. The characters were supposedly torn apart by the whole moral dilemma of their sneaky affairs but they did the bare minimum in that regard. Even the romantic tension felt somewhat forced and lacking. The drama would've benefited from only focusing on the main infidelity but here everyone was cheating on one another. Too much noise. In comparison, all the previous points also applied to the JP version except that they were even more drastic and detached in that one.

Jaya Apr 26 2023 10:53 pm Not for all. Slow moving with minimum dialogues and maximum emotions, LAIA is a magnificently crafted series, with emphasis on love and not sex. Actors were subtle, music apt and direction, fabulous. I'm sure the viewership at the time of telecast was low because of the taboo theme and not because of how it is depicted. It's so realistic, you feel the happiness and angsts and despair as much as the characters themselves. Though open ended, we feel good believing the best wl happen to all of them. Go for it.

Dapplegrey Mar 21 2023 7:49 am Wonderful series. Outstanding acting by all the cast but Lee Sang Yeob gives an especially moving performance. My only criticism is the rushed ending which reminded me of My Love from the Star.

I wish it would be shown on Viki again.

You can never really judge all people who went through affairs. Definitely being lonely is not an excuse to cheat on your partner. It is also a lesson to all people who were cheated on, you are not always the good person in the relationship just because your partner cheated on you. I also like the mood such mundane at the same time soothing. I am now a fan of Park Ha-Sun through this drama. I like the slow burn romance between the leads. They deserve to be happy.

I was married to a selfish, aloof person, and one day I met someone by chance and we slowly moved from being friends to deeply caring for each other. We both had to go our separate ways, but I've always thought of that person with great affection. After 29 years of marriage my spouse and I finally divorced, I only wish we had done it in 1978.

the scripts are amazing, they're so deep that even viewers will think about their life choices, i also love the character development, im having roller coaster of emotions by watching them, im also confused cause im very firm with my belief that an AFFAIR is a bad thing but the story and the characters make me think so much..omg i just love this but im scared of what the ending may bring cause i know they should stick with their marriages but i also want them to be together.. i also urged my officemate to watch this cause this is such a realistic and mature drama

However, take my advice,do not give up...it seems to me now that it is exactly how the 2 women was going through....a mundane life...it set the stage for viewers to feel as they do. Every episode set me thinking and to relate with every character. Why she so weak? Why he refused to...Then I came to 'd' question...what's love all about? Thank you for such a nice story.

She cheats, gets pregnant, and then wants her husband who married her out of pity to take care of another one of her messes. She's a cheater herself (not because she loves another but just for the sex/attention), gets in trouble and comes running back to her savior. BIG MISTAKE BUDDY!! Should have never married the as*wipe. This girl is more selfish than any of those other people. Feel bad for her for what? He should run away with Ji Eun to another country at least. Doesn't seem like she has any family around there. Neither does he. He should also get a DNA test of the baby, throw it in her face and that should be a grounds for divorce there.

From my point of viewi and based from the story i cant consider the love between the main characters as affair because they got married not because they are in love. As mentioned by the lead man the first time his heart fluttered was when he met the leading lady of the story and he marry his wife out of pity.Ive seen the japanese version and all i can say is the korean version is very much better but i hope the ending will be a happy ending to the lead actors not sa ending like n Hirugao... Isn’t it a bit hypocritical of her to be this way because she’s back and wants her cake too? Plus, she made their marriage legal by herself when he was obviously avoiding it. They could have easily gone their own way... Why did he marry her anyway? It doesn’t even seem like he likes her all that much. Was it to cover up for her affair with the married man in the states?

Cheating is not the answer. Even someone have unhappy relationship. Its better to break up or divorce first rather than cheating.

But thats why is good drama. The point of view is so realistic. We can take many lesson from this drama. Cheating is not the answer for you who looking for happiness..

The plot is different from anything I’ve ever watched, but it’s so amazing. It definitely takes the spot of my list of best Korean dramas ever. It’s changed the way I view afford in general and I hope the characters can have a happy ending. They really deserve it ? The way they may have found each other was wrong, but everyone is deserving of happiness regardless. I hope their spouses involved can also allow them to have peace and to go find happiness of their own.

This drama doesn't try to beautify infidelity, however, it does give us a better perspective of what a person who commit adultery may have gone through. They know it's wrong and it hurts them so much, yet they are willing to take the risk to follow their heart even if it is to take the whole world up against them. "An affair is not love". But I think it is a different type of love, it is a love at the wrong time.

You don't want to feel for them but you can't help it. It's as if both women haven't really been truly, madly in love ever. Of course, it happens for both of them at the same exact time and at the wrong time (both of them are already married).

Plus, this drama could gain more attention to older/more mature audiences. I just started watching this drama today and i cant wait for ep 7 rn. The preview made me so excited omfg.

So nobody is cheating anybody, its 50-50. Park ha sun looks like Lee Bo Young ( Ji Sung's Wife), is it just me?

sf Jul 10 2019 4:17 am I'm disappointed about the way in which the PD team treats the subject. After the second episode was translated, JE seems to be more stupid than I thought and the other lady a blackmailer and a real slut. What I thought it would be a delightful drama it turned out to be a really annoying one. From five to five minutes I was annoyed either because of JE stupidity either of the other woman impertinence. JE digs her own grave.

wym Jul 09 2019 8:20 am first time i saw park ha sun at juniel's mv illa illa (its really a long time ago lol) i think she's very suitable to potray as Sawa (Hirugao). looking forward to this remake. i already hooked at japanese version before, i love Sawa's character so much. i have high expectation for park ha sun to be Sawa.

Meyrin Jul 08 2019 7:25 am I absolutely loved the intensity of the Japanese version (series and movie versions). This is not your ordinary love affair drama. The Hirugao franchise focuses more on the internal struggle and giving into that. I'm hoping that the Korean version will match up (or exceed) that. Unfortunately, my favorite song from the Japanese version (Never Again) doesn't seem to have its counterpart. Also, seeing that this drama has 16 episodes, maybe they'll incorporate the after events in the movie. So far, they're going exactly as what's in the original, any twists / new addition will be awesome.

I only watched 1-3 episode of the Japanese version. Maybe I can finish the story with the Korean one. I usually think that as long as two people are in love, it doesn't matter, but sometimes I can be so upset if it isn't justifiable. This better be exciting and intense.

Don't know what to expect but i hope it would deliver a story with great depth like Secret Love Affair starring Kim Hae Ae and Yoo Ah In. Out of dramas of this topic, this one was the best one with impeccable story and acting. I hope this drama could touch me at least near as good as Secret Love Affair
