Park Do-Ra (Lim Soo-Hyang) is an A-list actress, but a case causes her to fall to the bottom. Go Pil-Seung (Ji Hyun-Woo) is a rookie drama series PD. He falls in love with Park Do-Ra and he tries to bring her back to the top.

Just Jun 30 2025 11:43 am Young Lady and Gentleman was good, but for me Beauty and Mr. Romantic is wayyyyy better !!!! Ji Hyun woo suits the funny bubbly character, makes me laugh and cry. He was kinda stiff in previous work. The young actors chemistry also great. I love the episodes with young Daechung and Dora. So freakin funny and crazy. For the female lead Im Sohyang super beautiful. Her acting deserve award, as Dora and JiYoung both likeable with their own charms.

Fran Jan 19 2025 1:11 am I've been watching several Dramas for about 5 years and this was the first to be so long with exactly 50 episodes, but the incredible thing is that I didn't get tired of this series, until I reached exactly 18 minutes of the last episode where Pil-Seung's mothers went to ask Do-Ra for forgiveness and after that everything was fine?? as if nothing had happened and that all the double suffering that Do-Ra was going through were nothing? From then on, the rest of the series had no meaning for me. I'm just really angry that they didn't make a stupid mistake like that at the beginning of the series because I definitely wouldn't have watched a series like that. I felt betrayed by such a stupid ending!

AK Jan 07 2025 6:03 pm Lim Soo-Hyang and Ji Hyun-Woo are great actors, really impressive performances. This is my first drama featuring both of them.

These were the good things and now to the negative points. The overbearing mothers in this series are unbearable and rank among the most aggravating characters I've ever encountered in a K-drama.

Do-Ra's struggles are already heavy enough, but by episode 20, I found myself questioning whether to continue watching. The constant string of injustices and conflicts becomes exhausting. A bit of drama is fine, but here it feels like an endless cycle of bullying Do-Ra, misery and frustration.

The two lead actors are the only reason I’ve stuck with it this far, but by episode 26, things take another frustrating turn. Do-Ra faces relentless bullying and unfair treatment from all sides, despite being completely innocent. It leaves you wondering just how much worse things can get.

Fifty episodes for such a relentlessly heavy storyline feels excessive. I’m increasingly doubtful that the show will deliver a satisfying conclusion. This is especially disappointing given the excellent performances by Lim Soo-Hyang and Ji Hyun-Woo. However, there’s a limit to how much drawn-out conflict and suffering one can tolerate.

I’ll still give the series a good rating, but only because of the chemistry between the two leads and the strong performances from the entire cast. Sorry, but I have to admit that I didn’t feel entertained, and at some point, it simply became unpleasant to watch. I’m still undecided whether to continue or to try another drama featuring Lim Soo-Hyang and Ji Hyun-Woo instead.

B. Ann Reyes Nov 30 2024 3:54 pm Peter, you arec orrect with this statement, "every mother in this show is absolutely terrible, except for Kim Ji Young's grandma.". Even when they appeared to be caring, it was all about prestige, mocey and its power. It's true that there are such unsympathetic, self-gratifying and unrelenting mothers, grandmothers and other family members in this world. However, there are also many of such persons who are empathetic, supportive and loving. It's sad that only the bad ones were represented. There should have been a better balance. Hooray for grandma though. She was awesome.

It's making me curious, and without noticing it, I'm already attached to the drama. I love the story because it has a simple storyline that I can relate to. The character is not so stupid like any other long drama and make it bearable to watch.

Brainwashed Sep 28 2024 1:08 pm So what's next? The drama has ended so we will just wait for Dec. 31, 2024 for the KBS Drama Awards. Who do you think will award Ji Hyun-Woo for best actor? I hope it will be Choi Soo-Jong, the grand prize winner in 2023, that means JHW will again receive the grand prize award, just like in 2021. For sure he will get an award this year. It is already a tradition that every lead actors/actress in a weekend drama always wins an acting award.

But I hope they also recognize the efforts of the senior actors and actress.

Every step of the way all they care about is their self interests. Can't believe they couldn't come up with more variety of characters.

I see their scenes together very awkward. Actually, I stopped watching at episode 39, I am just watching a few summaries in youtube to see what is happening on the drama. Anyway, 2 last episodes next week. Will just continue watching when it final after it ends or maybe not especially if the next drama will be more entertaining than this.

Marie Sep 16 2024 12:16 am Everyone's good at acting, but if I have to critique one, it's the ML. Idk, he doesn't suit the role, I accepted it but it just feels awkward especially when he's doing jolly scenes, but he could pull of serious ones, just maybe less shouting. His character in Young Lady & Gentleman suits him better but needs to work harder if he wants to portray other roles.

My favorite - Mari! She's so good, I hope she gets lead roles in the future!

Do Sik's actor is really good too, hope he gets more promising roles in the future, I think he can even pull of a villain one, like a mad killer or something.

Jin Dan, ugh I hate his role but he's really a good actor. He did well in Red Swan but annoying character too. He's good at English. Hope he plays protagonist next time or maybe a love triangle but not the annoying kind but the 2nd lead syndrome kind.

Sometimes the actors that plays in weekends dramas are better than primetimes ones, maybe coz of more drama in the script and they stay longer w/ their characters, but I hope they get primetime roles too!

Pil Seong's grandmother gets the booby prize for jump the gun condemnation.... that character should be the Grandmother of Korean Netizens. That said, I have seen the top 3 shows listed here and enjoyed them all.... kudos to the writer.

wnnny Sep 02 2024 10:23 pm Watch ep 44. The male lead (Go Pil-Seung) is time to tell his step-grandmother, stepmother and biological mother off. His step-grandmother did not treat him well during his teenage days. His biological mother abandoned him so what right does she have e.g. to advise him about him marrying Kim Ji-Young/Dora? Also, Chairman Gong, a selfish person, adopts Go Pil Seung to protect his biological daughter.

Go Jin Dan seems insane.

Park Do-ra's mother, and her brother Do sik all useless.

I think Go Yoon actually gave his character Gong Jin Dan some layers of depth. At least you can see beneath an evil guy is a confused lost guy.

But I agreed that the rest of the characters of the drama are 2D.

The plot built on a single line repeating over and over again to nausea, always the same: the evil, gambling and money addicted mother repeatedly abusing her daugther and being foolishly forgiven all the time, and then doing it again in the same way; the obsessive spoiled rich boy repeatedly abusing the same girl, following the same pattern and repeating the same sentences to no avail (as usual it seems there is no protection for women, no police, no reports for stalking, no restraining orders in lawless SK); the main female carachter losing her memory (so the patterns can be endlessly repeated) getting dumb and even more defenceless and weak in the process.. Ji Hyun-Woo playing the usual righteous but pretty useless character. And you'll have to wait till the last episodes for the usual rosy ending and atonement for everyone. Probably among the worst KBS drama ever, no surprise about the ratings.

Elaine Aug 31 2024 12:59 am I fully agree with some of the comments below that Park Do Sik (older brother) Is A Useless Freeloader. I wonder what Ko Pil-Seung's aunt sees in him but she is no better.

I like Kim Ji Young's grandma but unfortunately her dementia is getting worse.

My expectations for the end of this drama: 1. Park Dora's mom to die horribly or suffer horribly 2. Gong Jin Dan's parents to die horribly or suffer horribly 3. Park Do Sik and Ko Myung Dong to go somewhere else and to stop leeching on their respective families. 4. Gong Jin Dan to totally lose his memories and fortune in an accident or something and to be rescued by a good poor family in the outskirts to get a second chance in his life. He is not totally evil, he is just totally spoiled.

I am very sorry that he let the only person who could have loved him, his ex-fiance Tae Hee go because of a misled unilateral love for Park Dora/Kim Ji Young.

wnnny Aug 24 2024 11:34 pm watch ep 41. In my opinion: (a) Ji-Young/Do-Ra's brother Do-sik is a freeloader. The storyline about him and Ji-Young/Do-Ra's grandmother is ridiculous. (b) the grandmother's dementia, Do-Ra's mother is her son's wife earlier, Do-Sik is her son, now Ji-Young/Do-Ra's mother is her daughter Dong-Dong and living in her apartment with Ji-Young/Dora are ridiculous. (c) Do-Sik is useless, he and his brother Do-Jun should provide for his mother's welfare and not shift all the responsibilities and obligations to Ji-Young/Do-Ra. (d)The storyline could better focus on Do-Ra living her own life without freeloaders like Do-Sik and her mother, discovering Go Jin-Dan is the culprit.

A great drama is having someone to cheer for, but everyone is useless. A bunch of annoying characters with no character growth. The female lead is so dumb that it becomes cringy. Overall, a bad script. A waste of time watching.

In ep 36, the FL's brother Do-Sik knows Jin-Dan is not a good guy, but he does not comment much when the FL asks him, Do-Sik only says he cannot forgive Pil-Seung because Pil-Seung kept Ji-Young / Do Ra away from them. Do-Sik is a useless brother previously and now also a useless brother, he knows his mother contributed to Ji Young/Do-Ra's suicide.

Do-Jun is smart but still can't tell his mother off, another useless brother. Hope Ma Ri does not end up with him!

The FL's mother again and again sells her daughter to protect herself and her sons, so hopefully, Ji-Young/Do-Ra will regain her memory soon, and then move on to live her live as Ji-Young.

The villian, jin dan also very annoying to watch his face although he is chelbo and powerful all the time he seems no standard villian.I feel the drama "Su ji & U ri" is much more better than this drama and cannot understand how they got above 15% rating . Yena Jul 08 2024 4:34 am Soo Yeon, Pil Seung biological mother doesn't really feel bad for her husband, coz if she's truly sorry, she should tell him the truth herself. Why was she asking for divorce without the truth, so she could get alimony / they could divide their wealth. Well they're not getting divorce anymore, but still she's didn't learn anything, after "struggling" all these years, and seeing how much hurt she caused, she still wanted to keep the secret to her husband or still lacks the courage to come clean herself. It will be worse if her husband learned the truth from someone else.

Also, wow, just wow, will Dora's mom sell her again to Jin Dan because of her debt. Maybe this is how Dora's memories will return. Dora's older brother should be ashamed of himself. Jo Dun is smart too, if he was truly mad at their mom, and cared most for Dora, he should say something and not allow their set up to continue. And I mean this, whether or not something bad will happen again coz of mom.

Capitalc Jul 01 2024 1:34 pm Okay the parents on both sides are messed! Fl's mom is a disgusting person who has lied and cheated her whole life, and used her daughter to bankroll the whole family and her gambling habits. She places the blame on everyone else for what she is really responsible for.

  The older brother is also a user while the younger brother after Do Ra's death cuts the family off.  After Do Ra comes back as Ji Yeong the mother is not considerably remorseful and basically still willing to use her daughter to solve all the family problems, including her to pose Nude. these two are total users and have learned little with Do Ra offing herself presumedly out of a avoidable scandal. 
 The ML's family is really little better.  The Dad uses other's money to fall for scam after scam at his mother's behest, and is a total loser and lacks compassion for those he uses.  The mother doesn't think straight and she and the mother in law team up to try to destroy Do Ra while the ML is out of town.  The mother in law I hate, she is the scum of the earth and does every underhanded thing she can to ruin anyone's happiness, and, like the FL's mother she attempts to bring wealth in the family and to herself, by trying to hookup a mentally handicapped girl to the ML because the girls family is wealthy. All her actions are reprehensible, and her lies to cover for her behavior are unbelievable. The whole FL's family lacks morals and It's hard to understand who they can use violence at every instance, and It's amazing that the ML hasn't moved out.   Sometimes this drama is hard to watch, and don't get me started on how stupid Do Ra's new character is, or Gong Jin and her and their issues.  And, Do Ra does believe the truth about her family, really?

There are really only two decent main characters in this thing, yet both make mistakes which destroy their happiness and help the evil around them. I could go on but apparently the writer wants everyone to constantly be in a state of turmoil. With 50 episodes, I don't know if I can deal with all the inanity and lack of situational awareness.

Elaine Jul 01 2024 10:43 am I am getting heartily tired of: Pil Seung's possessive annoying foster mom, the equally annoying trouble-making foster grandma, Dora's extremely greedy and hateful mother and possibly Pil Seung's real mom. Screaming all the way. I am also annoyed with Kim Ji Young's extremely stupid stubborness and stupid enough to trust her real mom again. I am also very tired of Dora's elder bro - a weakling wimp.

So far, I only enjoyed Pil Seung, Ma Ri and surprisingly Jin Dan and the patriach Jin Taek, Dora's younger bro Do Jun and maybe Pil Seung's mentor Director Hong.

I also like Cha Bong Soo, the forever suffering male lead. He is silly sometimes but he is genuine. Bi Bi is not bad too.

There, I finally got it off my chest, having suffered weeks of nonsense. I may consider dropping this drama if Dora's Mom doesn't more bad karma. Will resume if those annoying characters start to get their karmas properly.

She was haughty in her heyday, then humbled all the way to the ground during her bad years, then backed to haughty mode when things get a bit better. And that is why i like this drama. It is real. I'm waiting to see if Dora will still be giving her money to her mum

By the way, I am just curious on how do they get the ratings? Is it by how many viewers watch the show?

I know Dora's feeling vulnerable for being kicked out but how can she be naive and go back to her mom, aren't there articles about them. She was independent & courageously living when she was in the province & that empowered her, why would she need to go back, she could just be independent, she has work, agency, she can make it on her own considering her personality as JiYoung. And her mom never repented or change. I guess we have to go through that. Also once they reveal her identity, will Jin Dan still want her or will he be scared of the crime he did, will he try & hurt her again. Also not a fan of Pil Seung's character. I wish he's more likeable & wish they have more chemistry as the lead couple. They're so cringe. Just watching to see how the antagonists here will receive their punishment, hope it'll be satisfying & not some bland forgiveness-they-change kind of ending.

This weekend it’s three mothers (and one mercenary step-grandma) who believe that their two precious sons are too good for one blameless woman. ANDDD do all they can to break them up. 25 plus episodes to go, they need to get beyond this.

J May 17 2024 6:37 am Im a huge Lim Soo-hyang fan, I thought it was gonna be like a short drama series but it turned into 50 episodes. At first, all of this weird age gap drama and romance between the characters was kinda crazy. But whatever, its started out smoothly and got really fun and comedic. Then it just takes a dark turn. Ripped my heart when Do ra told Pil Seung that she would stoop down to the bottom get money (the nude shoot) and bashed him in the end. I really blame her mother in all of the this. She should rot in prison for basically using Do ra for money even selling her child to save her own skin. A lot of people said they give up on the drama which is understandable but yeah the 50 episode drama kinda sucks. But I love Lim Soo-hyang and would keep supporting her. But watching the dark things she had to act through for her character kinda made me feel uncomfortable. Its showbiz! Until the episode 50 on Sept 8 haha!

Jang Soo Yeon abandoned her biological son while he was a baby at the house entrance of Kim Sun-Young (Pil Seung's adoptive mother) to marry Chairman Gong Jin-Taek.

I know it's a family feel good drama but Do-Ra Mom need sto do jail for everything and her stupidity cause it's beyond human imagination from being in poverty to riches and gambling it away. For her type of character I don't expect any less, I see a lot of relationships ending and unwanted marriages happening too. Cheese to two months of annoying extra characters and a final plot in June.

Hope Do-Ra is not going to shoot a naked ad, also hope she is not going to date Gong Jin Dan or marry him, Gong Jin Dan is a nasty and vicious person.

Hope Do-Ra cut ties with her mother, and let her brother Do-Sik look for a job on his own, as she has been supporting her whole family since she was a kid! so it is time for her to move on from her mother and brother.

Go Pil-Seung's adoptive grandmother also not a nice person like Do-Ra's mother.

I mean, it's kinda ridiculous how they only sit on one side of the table in Pil Sung's house just so they all could be seen by the audience. Not to mention the dramatic overheard scenes and also how toxic all the ahjummas in this drama. Lot of monologues and it's getting absurd. Also, I didn't realized until now that this drama is going to have 50 Episodes? Bye. I'm dropping this now.

All these characters are introduced over the span of a few minutes and they essentially tell the family life story in one nonsensical conversation. I have no idea who is who and whose related and adopted and blah blah blah, and then all of a sudden everyone is screaming and crying and more family tree nonsense is thrown out and this is supposed to be the introduction/explanation of all the characters. How the hell am I supposed to take in any of this when it's presented to me in one jumbled melodramatic mess of a time span??? Also what's with the camera quality switching up from pretty good quality to looking like it was filmed in 2009? I'm sorry but I couldn't withstand even one episode, I was so confused and frustrated.

Also I am wondering...the drama started when he was 17 years old. Then next scene is after 15 years that means he is already 32 years old. But with what I see in his acting, it seems he is not acting like a 32-year-old man but still a 17-year-old boy. Is that really his role? To be honest, it doesn't fit JHW. And why did he change his name? Why did they not named him as Go in the first place? And why did he not asked his parents why he has different surname when he just realized that he is not their biological son when he was already 17 yrs old.

I stopped watching at episode 4 and not sure if I will continue to watch this drama. I just rely on next episode's trailer or preview.

Hong Ae-Kyo dependent on being a mistress to grab as much of the inheritance as possible. Baek Mi-Ja dependent on seducing the widow to pay off her debt. Jang Soo-Yeon preferring to abandon her child rather than start an independent life. Even young Parc Do-Ra’s one-sided crush is a kind of dependency. Hopefully, grown-up Parc Do-Ra will have qualities of her own...

I think it’s going to be absolutely fabulous! I’m marking March 23 in my calendar.

Same last name and same initial of first name...are they sisters? Hahaha....It's good the writer didn't name the male lead as Mr. Lee.
