Set in the 1970's, Baek Ki-Tae (Hyun-Bin) is an ambitious man, who thirsts for wealth and power. Jang Gun-Young (Jung Woo-Sung) is a prosecutor with animalistic instinct and fearsome tenacity. Facing a major incident, Jang Gun-Young throws his everything to stop Baek Ki-Tae. The people around them include Lobbyist Choi Yoo-Ji (Won Ji-An), Investigator Oh Ye-Jin (Seo Eun-Su), Bae Geum-Ji (Cho Yeo-Jeong) and Chief Secretary Cheon Seok-Joong (Jung Sung-Il).

First drama series directed by Woo Min-Ho. He has previously directed movies such as "Inside Men," "The Man Standing Next," and "Harbin."

R Apr 22 2026 11:00 pm Really great drama. I do admit it’s pretty slow but that’s just how this type of genre is. While the ending isn’t really what you expect it’s realistic. Anyways, I can’t wait for season 2 (hoping for a 3 too)

Jillibean Jan 16 2026 11:49 pm 1. You have to like crime dramas, and 2. You have to be very patient. The drama is very cerebral, so if you're watching it after a full work day and you're tired you might miss a lot. I would recommend watching it in one weekend, first three episodes on a Saturday, and the second three episodes the next Sunday.

Our two male leads were perfectly cast. (And Hyun Bin is still as much of a hunk as he was in Ireland two decades ago, lol!).

AMAN Jan 14 2026 6:55 pm Just finished watching it... and it was good. A good Crime, Action & thriller drama. Liked the acting of both Hyun-Bin & Jung Woo-Sung. Won Ji-An, Woo Do-Hwan & Cho Yeo-Jeong are also impressive but given very less screen time. hope they'll be given much more screen time in s02. i just read somewhere that show has already renewed for s02 that's great because it was not at all very satisfactory ending.. S01 was all about Baek Ki-Tae rise and S02 will be about his downfall...

Ann Wilson Mar 01 2024 8:28 pm It should be an interesting series based on the period of crisis in South Korean modern history. It would be exciting if Hyun bin does take up the offer to be a part of it. Jong Woo sung is also staring in it would be appropriate as he was one of the stars in 12 12: The Day, which was an exceptional movie. Hopefully it will be streamed on Netflix with English subtitles, as the Korean Peninsula is in the forefront of world news at the moment.
