Sang-Tae (Ahn Jae-Wook) is left with his two children after his wife passes away. Since that time, he lives with his two kids and parents-in-law. He works as a marketing team leader for a fashion brand.

Mi-Jung (So Yu-Jin) works as an assistant manager at the same fashion company. 3 years ago, her husband had an affair with her friend and left her. She couldn't tell her kids the truth about their father and lied that their father went to work in America. To this day, the children still believe that their father is in America.

Sang-Tae and Mi-Jung never thought about falling in love again, but they fall in love with each other.

senna Jul 29 2025 12:18 pm Excellent series, excellent story. The main couple was my favorite. The young couples were also very cute. The child actors are incredibly talented. The elderly mothers in the series were truly annoying at times. But you can't blame them because you understand them. It was wonderful to see that being a family requires sacrifice, understanding, and patience, but that everything works out in the end. It's also worth noting that this series is a must-watch, especially for those getting married for the second time and those who are about to become stepparents. The worst part was the ending. I wish it had continued for dozens more episodes.

Lookout Apr 17 2025 4:39 am I am a kdrama fan. Having watched many kdramas, I must say this is one of the very best dramas. Great script and directorship. All acting were good including the children's acting. Storyline is very realistic showing strong families ties are important which is very rare in kdrama these days. So fun watching and you can see yourself laughing when watching. Very worth to watch.

Angel Jan 20 2022 2:37 pm Really nice to see people watching this also in 2022. It was really a great drama and I really liked it. All I can say is just that the adults in this drama are all selfish and only think about themselves. It's kinda pathetic to watch their actions actually. And the mother too, favouring her husband's kids over her own children is just so horrible. You can't earn kids love by favoring them. Get to know them, love them and treat them all equally with love cause others would felt left out and that would eventually affect their relationship and they will grow up hating each other. She tried her best though but still... The steps she took were just so annoying and it could affect kids.

DorianGrey101 Jan 02 2022 5:45 pm The worst parent,in the show is the woman who kept forcing her daughter not to divorce a guy who never told her he had a vasectomy in the first place. Made her take herbal medicine & pretend like he wanted to have kids with her. He was going to keep on lying to her. Why would you want your daughter to stay with a man like that?. She repeatedly told her to stay with him,work on their marriage, when she clearly wanted to have kids. Did she have to sacrifice her happiness or desire to have kids just because she stole someone's husband?. Is she ever going to be happy? What is the point of a marriage like that?.

Rani Feb 18 2021 7:20 pm I really really hope there is a season 2. Where the storyline revolves around the married couple and the in laws. I really loved this story. Beautiful. Yeon Tae, Sung Min and Tae Min And Jin Joo were my favourite. The elders played their parts really well. Overall, it’s a very good family drama.

fangirl Nov 28 2020 12:29 pm It's a very fun drama that tackles the story of a blended family. I guess they could've spend more time on resolving problems around the kids though. I was actually interested in how they would handle some family matters instead of the marriage part. The mothers were all very scary. Not sure if that happens in real life or it was for the sake of tv. Still, definitely one of my favorite shows. It's light and heavy at the same time lol. I love all the couple's especially Sangmin and Yeondu couple. They are the cutest!

I also loved Sung Hoon and Shin Hye-sun. Is there plan to do part 2? I like to know what these 2 couples future are like? All four have such great chemistry so am interested to watch more of their shows.

CHARISMA overload :) Honestly i watched this because of Song Hoon he is really a catch.. very handsome :) but forgive me chingus Shin Hye-Sun is quite far from him.. she is not beautiful. i like her doing second lead.. but main lead... well.. Lorna Mahony Feb 02 2018 1:13 pm This is an older drama that deserves to be given a second glance in the midst of today's idea of blended family dynamics. It shows the sad reality of hurdles that can be faced if and when families are welded together in a relationship, especially in marriage. In a society where close familial ties are slowly eroding at the price of materialistic pursuits, it is a breath of fresh air to be reminded of the value of family, single or blended. This drama shows the reality of struggles and highlights the strength of bond created when people set aside their differences for the sake of their loved ones.

I respect the main leads' characters but I have to say Hye Sun and Sung Hoon put this drama in a different level altogether. Their role execution and dialogues are fantastically commendable. They really get it. I've watched this drama many times over but even their most serious scenes still never fails to make me smile. Hope to see them together in another drama in the near future.

Vi0let Dec 06 2016 8:54 pm I dont usually leave reviews but i feel like i have to for this drama....Five Children is AMAZINGGG....If you're wondering whether you should watch it...YES...YOU SHOULD!!!....50 episodes does seem like a lot and I myself tend to stay away from Kdramas with more than 25 episodes but this one deserves 50 episodes and more...It was that good....the cast, the acting, the script, everything was just really amazing...Once you start you'll probably find yourself binging...anyways hope this review helped :-)

They keep forwarding their horrible culture, especially in regards to marriage and elders. Near forty year old man with two children being yelled at by ther most dumb and sickening looking mom ever with the most cretin dialogue and lines of thinking imaginable.

They keep repeating their retardity with the blood is ticker than water, and the materialism is always present in all these series.

Jenny Sep 04 2016 7:20 am I normally don't watch drama that is longer than 20ep. But once I started this I was hooked and there's no stopping. This family drama is awesome. Mother in law who loves to get in involve and creat problem for the younger generation. Objection from elders, problems by the children and other general family problems is being shown in this drama. I love the cool Sang Tae and the ever clumsy n pity Mi Jung. The arrogant Sang Min and the shy Yoen Tae. They manage to overcome all their problems in a correct way. Awesome drama. I love it so much..

yumepanda Aug 26 2016 11:43 pm All I can say is this is a great drama! I always want to try watch family drama, but I never found such a family drama that I can watch full till last episode. Before it's either the story getting boring or there's no chemistry between the couples. But there's no such a thing in this drama. At first I just want to watch this because my sister recommend this drama because of sangmin-yoontae, but slowly I also get hooked with the story and the other cast. The story is unusual and have a great development, and each couple have great chemistry especially sangtae-mijung and sangmin-yoontae. I wish there's season 2 of this drama where they show the continue of each couple maybe 5 or 10 years later.

Totally recommend ! The reason whyi watched is because SANG MIN & YEON TAE is literally everything. So heres some moments i remember in the drama about yeon tae & sang min !!! ; 1. The way they first met, when YT was drunk and got onto SM's car thinking it was a taxi. (It was so hilarious yall) 2. The calling each other crazy,psycho..etc (it was super cute tho) 3. The day they actually met and when Yeon Tae gave his phone back ayee. & When Sang Min told Yeon Tae to write all her information on a paper and thats where 'Yeon doo' came up. 4. Yeon Tae getting hit with a motorcycle and Sang Min saw it and was shocked so he came and gave her a coat ????? Idk it was so funny 5. Times where Yeon Tae cried infront of Sang min Because of hear 7 year crush a.k.a TAE MIN ( his brother) 6. When Yeon Tae wanted to take a taxi to Han River ( suicide plans cus of TM) So Sang Min stopped her and dragged her into his car 7. Sang Min buying her a balloon to let go of that crush 8. The time where SM carried YT home when she was drunk and slept wt her house only to get beaten up by HoTae the next morning since he was mistaken as the 7 year crush , TAe Min 9. THE CONFESSION GUYS MY HEART. When sang min confessed to Yeon Tae omg my heart just. But got rejected so yea 10. Remember when Sang Min came to her house one morning ? To give her flowers. She told Yeon Tae to check the back of his car to see if theres anything inside. When Sang Min opened the back of his car Yeon Tae was all like "theres nobody here its just flowers" OMG YTAEE then sang min forcefully gives the flower I WAS DYING OF LAUGHTER 11. The day they went to the library and Sang Min was all flirty and they were so cute i just craved for a cute relationship like that 12. When Sang Min threw Yeon Tae's shoe in the bushes so he could carry her 13. When Yeon Tae got all jelous when a bunch of girls approached Sang Min during their bowl date (her bowling skills went from 100-0 yall not kiddingz, i guess jealousy does that :< ) 14. Yeon Tae got all upset when Sang min told her he's going on a blind date lol i was dying to see Yeon Tae make effort to go to the place where he was on a date with Jin Joo lol 15. I forgot but there was this one episode where they oficially started dating i forgot how but i remembered it was at the cafe. It was cute but... 16. My heart did no flutter until when Sang Min sent her home and gave her a kiss at the cheek

I love it how this drama dont really have an antogonist. The way the main couple handling problems with their kids also realistic with so much positivity. My favorite obviously the Yeon Doo and Sung Min couple.

Shows like Five Enough and Return of Superman focus family and father compassion for kids. Dramas like Unusual Family, The Promise, Secrets of Women view children as victims by greedy wealthy families. Only money is highly. Not families. This is why Five Enough is a great show it's giving children a positive voice in world.

Kris Jul 28 2016 9:27 pm Korea doesn't seem to know what to do after divorce or remarriage. A lot of kids do end up with gram or living in a children's home. Children of divorce are often easier targets of bullying in school so often that is tried to be kept secret. Children of single parents as well. For a country concerned about the birth rate they need to get over this. I don't understand what is so complicated about shared custody? It's perfectly understandable a grandma would want to make sure a step parent is treating a child well. There have been some disturbing cases lately in the news.

I hope this issue with Bin is resolved soon because I can only take so much of bratty child always getting her way and the adults who choose not to punish her. She's a spoiled child who chooses to distance herself from her family due to not receiving enough praise even when she does something wrong. They need to fix that before she gets out of hand.

Shortfus Jul 20 2016 1:45 pm Why is everything so secretive in kdrama? Hiding life-saving surgery from your only daughter because, for no apparent reason. This type of things are just too common in Kdrama and I suppose without that, they can't have 50 episode story lines. I guess in this day in age, having 5 kids are considered unthinkable in Korea. Korea, at least in Kdrama, still believes that two people whose been married once with kids cannot get remarried, at least not without leaving their kids to someone else. Either they are making mountain out of molehill for the sake of drama storyline or this is real thing in Korea. A relatively young widower with 2 kids still leaving with his in-laws and the in-laws expecting him to stay single for the rest of his life is just ludicrous. Also, the mother of widower not giving "permission" for her close-to-40-years-old son to marry because the woman has 3 kids - ludicrous. At least, the widower and the divorcées are written as grown ups with some balls in dealing with their relatives. Some of the grownups are written as too one dimension.

JJ talk to her parents about her boyfriend mother. All in all love the show. Wish the show could be a series such as Five Enough II.

Sang-Tae and Min-Jung's relationship, especially when they first started dating, was very realistic and refreshing! Two grown-ups who haven't had a new relationship in very long time, acting exactly how they should act. Very cute and again, refreshing. I've found myself smiling while watching them get excited about prospect of having boyfriend and girlfriend!

The viewers have put in their vote for lovable parents, good children and supporting extended families. I have not watched an American movie for almost 6 months. I find they tend to sell too much sex, profanity and support deviancy. While, you must admit they make great action movies and spy thrillers, the level of blood, gore and unmitigated violence has actually numbed me. Instead of getting swept into their films, I have learned to back off, with arms akimbo, from such intensity and force. This drama is the feel good drama of the year!

CoolBeans May 09 2016 7:23 pm This drama is the best and most natural storyline I have seen in many years due to the acting style and chemistry of the leads, Ahn Jae Wook and Su Yu Jin! Kudos to them. The supporting characters fit well with a story of families and single parents who have to please a lot of people while trying to make a happy home. The script is almost perfect except for the deadbeat son and his boring girlfriend. Grand mother takes revenge on anyone who does harm to her adult grand daughter! Supervisors will pretend to be a boyfriend to save an employee's pride against the second wife! The first wife will squeal with joy when it happens just like any woman would do in real life verses other dramas where the lead female looks at her feet, plays coy and submissive! Ugh! This type of writing has kept this drama number 1 in the ratings for months!

The breakout star is Sung Hoon who plays pro golfer Kim Sang Min! He elevates a potential irritating character to a level where he could be the main reason to watch the drama! His characters snobby, arrogant, condescending persona is scraped away as he falls for a dating dummy, one who has no clue when a man likes her. The crack in his idol facade gets bigger the more he boldly tells her she cannot get a better boyfriend than him and he has never pursued any woman in his life! He is all pudding and puppies inside as he desperately throws himself in the most adorable ways at a woman who finds him a bit weird! Their interactions alone takes the drama to another level and makes it a must see! Expect many awards for this drama during award season!

It's refreshing to see a fun light hearted drama with a unique story line. I love So Yu-Jin! She is so fun to watch and so very cute! Makes the drama so good when you have interesting characters with good acting skills, and Sung Hoon is really easy on the eyes :)
