Woo A-Jin (Kim Hee-Seon) lives a luxurious life due to her wealthy father-in-law, but her father-in-law's finances become decimated and her husband betrays her. Woo A-Jin's life hits rock bottom. Ms.T Feb 09 2026 5:28 am Why didn’t the family just call the police & have the caregiver arrested! She was just allowed to threaten & mistreat everyone like she was in charge! How crazy is that? The Chairman was clearly not able to make logical decisions because she was in his head! That’s where therapists & lawyers should be brought in to the picture! This drama is for inexperienced individuals! The person in charge failed to do her duty in an intelligent manner! The story line has merit but it eventually became irritating for me to watch!

nior Nov 25 2023 1:11 am i chose to watch this drama because i thought it’d be a bit like penthouse, but although it felt lighter i still loved it a lot, it was so fun and didn’t carry itself too seriously -tho it seemed like it tried to.

however, i feel like there was more to find out; like when seunghee questioned how jinhee knows ahjin and she just said that she’s like a personal secretary i thought that there was more to the story, and when gaeju said that he was framed for the murder his dad cast him to the US for i thought we were gonna find out what actually happened and who framed him.

i don’t know if the writers forgot about those loose ends or never intended to include them, it just didn’t make sense why they would mention them in the first place, and the drama was 20 episodes long so it wasn’t like it was cut short halfway through and they had to let go of unimportant storylines.

also, i feel like the acting was really really good yet a lot of actors left the scene not long after this show, or that this was their last, it was pretty odd and disappointing.

nevertheless, the show was amazing and the ending was so unpredictable and the writers planned for it really well (even though some people might consider it nonplausible because there wasn’t much buildup, i still feel that it made perfect sense and made us as viewers be as surprised as the characters) but it felt that the focus was too much on the ending that the 20 episodes they spent building up for it were neglected.

Renwa May 16 2023 8:27 am This review gets a title…In The Name Of Love…love of the actors, ALL of them. Kim Sun-A in particular is astounding as I fell in love with her in My Name Is Sam Soon. This drama, The Lady In Dignity, irritated & frustrated me. There somehow was a continuous lack of balance…characters seemed not to match making them unbelievable, the depth/breath of despicable characters & their actions didn’t seem real even in the imaginary world that is drama. There was a rawness to so many characters which made them mere characterteurs. The ending which did seem plausible didn’t seem realistic…satisfying nevertheless. The drama was too long making for redundant & boredom. Yes, I really didn’t like this one but saw it through to the end as I Adore the actors.

Max Jan 27 2023 10:50 pm This drama will definitely make you want to pull out your hair and Boil Your Blood!! I’m glad Bokja died, that character had Zero likable qualities. They tried to make us feel bad for her but it was a big fat fail. The woman was evil period. The only good thing she did in the whole drama was beat up Sunhee. Jaesuk *sigh* where to begin? I can’t say he’s trash because trash can be recycled and I can’t say he’s a piece of shit because even shit can be used as fertilizer. So whatever exists that is absolutely worthless that would be him. I just wanted to reach through the screen and kill him, he was absolutely disgusting, revolting and f-ing annoying. Sunghee, goodness gracious probably wins the most shameless, annoying f-ed up mistress of all time title. And her mom too. The JOY I felt when Ajin’s mom, Jinhee and the ahjumma beat the shit out of them, highlight of the whole drama!! The killer twist, surprising? Yes. Did I like it? No. I would have preferred another character to kill her. Now for the good, Ajin was a badass! Didn’t like how she kinda forgave Sunghee and treated her nicely at the end but it was so satisfying seeing her putting her in her place each time. I’m sad we only got a scene of Ajin and Kiho holding hands because I loved their chemistry!!! That’s it I mostly skipped every other scene.

Fun and blood boiling Feb 19 2022 5:31 pm Yes this drama is both fun and blood boiling.. if you ask me "the most annoying mistress in any kdrama, I have to say it's yoon sunghee... Girl kept throwing tantrum or crying like baby when things happened beyond her control or when she was dragged by the female lead for something she deserve.. like the FL said, she wasn't ready to embrace the consequences of loving a married man..

Seyi Oct 30 2020 12:42 pm I was 23 when i watched this drama, i literally followed the drama when it came out, a big fan of sun ah unni and i have to say Kim sun ah and Kim hee sun were wonderful in this drama. For all 20 episodes, i was literally amazed and the plot twists, wonderful. Whoever wrote the script, Daebak!!! I would never have guessed the murderer. This is for me an amazing drama, female lead oriented that no one could outshine the women. I am perplexed by some saying it was bad, but for me awesome!!! is what qualifies this drama.

ad Jul 07 2020 9:03 am I stopped at episode 3 and that doesn't mean the story/series was bad by any means. I thought it was an interesting murder mystery plot. I just wasn't into it, with the story revolving characters cheating and stuff. I'm sure its relatable to some people but I just wasn't into that kind of story. I might revisit and watch another time once I get passed that story line. I'm sure the story has much more than what's on the surface. I can't give it a score just yet but so far it's been an interesting watch.

Also Kim Yong-Geon surely deserved a best supporting actor award as the Patriarch. A bit too much pontificating on the meaning of life, especially in the last two episodes, but I can forgive that, given the quality of the rest of the production.

JLu Aug 09 2018 7:26 pm I am a binge watcher of Korean and Asian dramas, and my biggest complaint with many of them is that they rush to an unsettled ending that sometimes makes no sense, with too many plot holes and unanswered questions. Another complaint is the characters are often too black and white (or change their stripes completely so the main love interest ends up with the anti-hero).

None of this is evident in Woman of Dignity (Lady in Dignity). I couldn't take my eyes off Kim Sun-A as Park Bok-Ja, a lowly caretaker who comes to invade a wealthy family's life. As evil as she is (and she does some awful things), there is an innocence that eventually breaks through and it's understandable why she does what she does. (I mean, who wouldn't rub some kimchi in that biatch's face!) She also changes from country bumpkin to stunning socialite, and her pixie haircut and face reminds me of a young Shirley MacLaine at times...Shirley with ATTITUDE!

The characters for the most part are well fleshed out and real, such as the girlfriends (Yoo So-Jin as Cha Ki-Ok is one who always rings true) and the dopy husband. He deserves an award for being Idiot #1 and reminding me of Fred Armisen at the same time. Hard not to laugh at that face!

The best of all, though, is that none of the people I had pegged for the murder were the actual murderer. I'm always ahead of the game but not this time. Plenty of twists and turns right up to the end. Great writing. Bravo!

The story is great, all the cast are well utilised and deliver, lots of laughs while covering weighty issues of adultery and class and money and children's education in Gangnam. Ignore any comment that complains about the drama.

Kim Hee Sun and Kim Sun Ah are a class act here. I wish they'd both won at the Daesang along with Kim Nam joo.

Sandra_oh Nov 30 2017 8:32 am Two thumbs up. Great script, editing and stellar acting by all. I didn’t have high expectations when I first started but man was i impressed. Luckily the drama had already ended its run so I didn’t have to wait but was able to finish it over several days. KHS’s character gets to wear gorgeous outfits and she nailed the look each time. I particularly love the actor who plays KHS’s husband. He’s darn funny, and his scenes bring out the comedy in the midst of an otherwise intense drama. Highly recommend!

She is not a bad people. Just who like Ah Jin said " want something she can't have " but She achieved that in the bad way. The she realized that is the thing from the first place and she had gone too far. Two last episodes to watch. So sad for a lifetime. She can do so much more if she was alive.

I must admit that I do not have such stories when things go backwards, too fond of. The Korean filmmakers, writers and scriptwriters, and above all the outstanding performances of all the actors, led by the stunning duo Kim Hee-Seon and Kim Sun - have done an admirable achievement. The final series, including her name, was great, excellent, and only some movies in me could provoke such strong emotions. Thank you for the wonderful experience of this work, thank you all, much ..... :)))

It was written so well and realistically, with additional humor here and there. Even though main focus of the show are Woo Ah Jin and Park Bok Ja, there are also side stories including troubling marriages of rich Gangnam women, affairs and scandals, which only draws you more into the show. Park Bok Ja, who you will hate with passion at the beginning but going further into drama, especially episode before grand ending, Kim Sun Ah's character will make you rethink your decision to hate her and you will WEEP when you realize she's going to die anyway, even though we knew it from episode one I can't believe it has been almost a month since last episode aired, time does fly... Cast: 10/10 Plot: 100/10 OST: Haven't really paid attention but maybe 4/10 Re-watch value: 9/10 Overall rating: 10/10

Plus, those inspirational quotes that's so relatable to life itself. Definitely Recommended!! I still can't get over the feels from this.

I feel sorry for park bok-ja even though she did bad things but still she had a good side. and she cared for the old man more than his own kids.. all they cared about is money especially his daughter she is so annoying and greedy. she didn't even visit him when he was in hospital.

I dislike her so much in this drama but am in disbelief to discover her in drama Live up to your name (with actor Kim Nam Gil) with a soft expression and smile. Amazing. She is totally transformed.

I am watching "Live up to your name" which is a very good drama too . Especially a comeback of Kim Nam Gil in drama world.

He was a problem boy who had been silent over his parent problems years ago and no even the grandpa consent him. Really a surprise to me as a viewer in this show. Very satisfy ending.

She just wanted to make her life easier. Too bad she went at it the wrong way. Just when she wants to turn her life around and make up for all her mistake, that happened.

In the beginning, I also hated Mr. Ahn for being so dumb. I thought he really deserved what Bok-Ja did to him. However, all he wanted was to love and be loved. With the 3 dumb kids, I really pitied him too. That house was already broken before Bok-Ja even appeared.

Many people think that this drama just a thriller-comedian genre but is not, most of their story-telling is quite real in reality but they turned it into humorous and appealing as just what this great writer did in her previous drama,"Strong Woman Do Bong Soon". I won't be surprise that their ratings is so high because this two great veterans actress are really good in their acting. I enjoyed every moment of it.

Though its definitely new for me seeing Kim Sun Ah playing such an evil role because I have always loved her as the comedic leading lady, but nonetheless she has not disappointed at all in this! She is as amazing an actress as ever!! Kim Hee Seon for sure is another favorite of mine! Plus I like dramas with strong leading ladies and mature themes. Super super enjoying this drama. Its serious yet hilarious at the same time. Watching it I feel like I'm sitting in on some really good gossip! hahaha

It is very amazing drama about how to pursue your dream and how to pay the consequence for what we've done,how to face our cheating husband and also karma is the real deal. Usually i always get gored after watch 15 episode but this drama is the only exception. The more i watch it the more i wanna know about the development of the story. So, if you are women or already married,this drama is a must. Trust me.

Kdrama_lover Aug 08 2017 4:03 pm Like if you want something different I recommend this drama I watched so many dramas every kind and this one shows you the actual truth about what rich people is like and that they are not perfect and that karma is soooo real and you gotta be strong I don't know if you are older than 15 you would understand it better it's not the typical romantic comedy it makes you angry and then satisfies you when revenge happens to the bad guy so if you want something that will give you all sort of emotions I recommend it by the way it's my opinion give it a try it's worth it I promise but it's really only what I think I found out that in the comments you can't really know anything from anybody do you know how many AMAZING dramas I left because of the comments and how many dramas that were recommended and were loved I watched and wasn't my type so don't read comments take them as little advices that you can choose to take or leave ok I spoke too much ??

One thing to remember is, elite societies never mix or befriend with lower class or their maids or staffs. What so special of Bok-ja lowlife been so attracted by Chairman Ahn? As he was a businessman, he should be more alert of this type of cons but why in such short-times, he gave-up all his assets to his young newlywed wife who had no knowledge of his business. No matter what? I can't accept his stupidity. If this story is all about Bok-ja, will be boring but they added so many sub-characters with their others story make so much different feels, so it's quite to watch.

The word 'greed' is continuously used somewhat making the viewers conscious of the seven deadly sins; which is what the drama is circulating around with each character. The protagonists execute powerful acting. Although the story is lacking to an extent, it justifies what one would do if it was all real. Give it a watch to see for yourselves whether the ratings are only about the veteran actors or there's something more to it. Humble request: please kindly respect my opinion.

What I known "Bride of the Water God" ratings is so poor despite so many young netrizens keep-on praising and commenting it? If you knew real story, they are non-sense, all this idols are young and sucked in acting skills yet they are not really good looking actors, easily fading over times. Can't make you understand, you are just beginner viewer, dumb!

Of course, I'm expected those with honorable dignities and not this bitchy dignities but then, think it other ways round, I realize it shows to us that all those women married and mostly depend on their spouses but their spouses cheated or abused them, so they have to wake-up and fight back as same as Bok-ja. She become con because she need to survive and cares for her daughter. It's a nice plots if I don't think of it as a mystery or thriller because every scene make me laugh instead of intense.

I don't know and Jae-suk was his younger son, married to Ah-jin. Now, his daughter, Jae-hee comeback from US after divorced. So, Ahn family members are dumb except Ah-jin. They trusted her and gave her responsibility to care for their well-beings and company. So now to take away their wealthy status, Bok-ja had to deals with Ah-jin first then only Joo-mi the elder sister-in-law. I can't wait to see how tough and stubborn Bok-ja reacts when she been kicked out from their house.

Hope Kim Sun A isn't an insane, she might be an evil with reasons and don't make it as similar story as Prefect Wife. That's really sucks.

Long-times, I haven't watch Kim Sun A acts in the drama and also Kim Hee Sun since 'Angry Mom'. Both ladies here are superb attractive and great in their acting. I love to see them soon.

They don't seem famous actors and not very young too, this will be a problem to degrade the ratings. Nowadays, viewers only watch those handsome and well-known actors. Those who aging actors are preferred to cast in family dramas.
