It’s so refreshing to enjoy a Korean royal drama again, especially with a story connected to food and cooking. Please continue to create many more dramas related to Kingdom, cooking, or food. Struck with the portrayal of an adult world, not because of the legalese or high end stakes politically or financially but by the direction of adult mannerisms, attraction, range of interactions and rich high context. Coming from a very low context culture in the USA, I was introduced to a higher context living in France for a year when I was 18. Now after retirement I enjoy the “couleurs locales” of foreign made productions. The current Korean romcoms I’ve watched this year, in part, feel low context with tropes such as umbrellas, rain, gazes, repetition and predictable stories. Almost boring. So, I returned to Hyena. It is refreshing in a richly layered way. Hyena knocks it out of the park. It remains the best adult drama to date. Thank you. Gumsahabnida! ??? Jaine Mar 19 2021 8:31 am I love your direction in Hyena. Brilliant camera angles. (The set up to the closet scene is one of my favorites!) Brilliant facial expressions with all the flash backs you need to be able to feel what they are feeling. Even Mr. bad guy who shows no expression is brilliant. We are swept into the mystery. I am watching a 6th time now. I take breaks with other Korean and Turk dramas but I return to Hyena as one of the most brilliant productions I have ever seen. (I had to give up American tv because of the poor writing and poor value all around), thank you! I love the laughter, the history of its culture and most of all the characters with its beautiful background of the simple life and the power of the nobility. I love the contrasts it keeps me intrigue and wanting more. I look forward to viewing the other productions listed above.
