Being familiar with the effects of PTSD on a whole country, I really appreciate how you portrayed, with the help of the fantastic cast and director, the effect of trauma not just on the survivors, but on their families, their friends, their community. Thank you very much, I'm going to look for everything else you've written. Naomi Jaine Oct 15 2024 9:19 am Dear Ms Yoo, I’m a retired French teacher from the USA. As a k drama fan after being a Turk drama fan I am aware of high context culture compared to our very blunt low context. French is in the middle. So I taught children to notice honorifics and yet the Korean culture likely is beyond my reach. But because I’m USAn I am going to take a leap and talk about your Rain or Shine show. I understand you wrote it under a different title. Because the word shine wasn’t intentional I still want to compliment you on the granny character. She brought shine to those in the rain. Her line she wrote to the boy reminded me of the little girl in Ponette. Did you see that French movie? Same line but it wrapped up the story for her. Had you known, it would have been easy to weave granny’s shine into more scenes. When she was in the hospital surrounded by loved ones, it was a super shiny moment in the story. Her clinic and it’s life line could have shined up the contrast for those in the rain (sad and stuck in guilt) part of the story. I’m rewatching Mystic Pop Up Bar. See how she has shiny moments telling us truth about life!?! Did you ever see Love Actually? It showed all the various types of love. Your story was not about love as your original title intimated: it was about guilt. I love thé granny shine aspect but your story was about guilt and shame actually. When you write a screenplay do you write in how long the camera holds on one face? Or is that purely the director’s fault: when I watch this show in the future, for the third time, I will count thé seconds of camera shots on shame and guilt versus love. Shame actually. Guilt causing shame. David Hawkins charted it. Shame is at 23. Low low low. It hard to watch that many seconds of it. The FL had to have been chosen for her look of shame. When she shines is when granny brings out the joy in her. Joy (540) is higher than love(500). Maybe next time, frame sections with your goal. I think one of them ( a goal) was to call out people on their eyes. The sister to the raging narcissist had dead eyes most of the time: the fact that you wrote about eyes in the script means you will write it again! The tall guy had better expression. The shamed girl stayed in surprise, shame or guilt so her eyes looked dead when she did that. Dr Yoon in Los Angeles will tell you that the retina can process sound and light. The one time the girl is actually sharing her guilt, there is no sound on the film. So weird. Anyway, keep on keeping on. Since the world continues to have more and more disabled people, you will be able to write and weave them into very meaningful roles as you did here. Just marvelous!!! That’s why I will watch this again. They shine too!!!!! You shine too! Tery Apr 12 2023 2:41 pm I thought the writer, though dealing with such difficult material, infused it with insight and love, giving a follow-up account from many angles and perspectives contributing to a fuller picture of the whole incident and it’s affects as it ripples through the lives of the people involved. The actors did so well with the task that was set. Dan Oct 29 2019 5:45 pm I've watched Just Between Lovers so many times already, and it's still as beautiful as the first time. Thank you for writing such a solid story about trauma, loss, healing, and found families. Thank for casting Lee Jun Ho and Won Jin Ah for their first lead roles. I think they gave the story justice with their raw and honest portrayals. I would love to see another drama written by Yoo Bo-Ra, and see Won Jin Ah casted as lead again. Her acting deserves a script as good as Just Between Lovers. Dayu Feb 03 2019 6:23 am Just Between Lovers will forever remains as my no 1 Kdrama series. Before this, I thought that Beauty Inside, Encounter or Drinking Solo would be my top drama because I watched this during the Boyfriend drama was ongoing (and I regret that I was late), but this drama was so touching and heartwarming and gave me so much feeling. The flow of the story development was just perfect and was near to reality. And the plot was also very unique in every way and so, it is really different from all the other dramas (even the love triangle). Mamo Dec 17 2018 2:04 am I watched Just Between lovers and I loved it but then I watched Secret love and couldn't believe that it was written by the same script writer. I guess the script writer matured with time because secret love was not IT. In my opinion the ideology portrayed was unrealistic and borderline psychotic and though the acting was awesome, the storyline pretty much was frustrating. So I commend the writer's maturity in Just between lovers, it was worth watching. regi May 06 2018 7:04 am After watching Secret and Just Between Lovers I could say that Yoo Boo Ra's writing is stellar. The way she portrays her characters, the situations that follow their actions and the consequences are incredible, it feel so real I feel like being drawn to their lives, and I'm glad I could witness them with my own eyes. I'm really looking forward to her future works! yeye Apr 07 2018 8:50 am Dear Writer-nim... Thank you for give me Happy ending for Just between lover. I am so enjoy your drama. Before, i watch Secret too. you are so great writer. Charlotte Feb 14 2018 2:52 am Both "Secret Lovers" and "Just Between Lovers" are in my top all-time five favourite movies. In both of them, the male & female leads have been deeply wounded and show it. Ji Sung & Junho were perfect choices for heroes that began at their lowest and managed to climb out of hurt & anger into love because of the strong, loyal & determined women they met. Both scripts are taught, layered and Keiko Feb 01 2018 2:52 pm Enjoyed your "Just Between Lovers" very much. I was afraid it was going to have a sad ending. So happy it did not. Best wishes on your future dramas/movies. Aza Jan 31 2018 9:47 am Dearest, dearest miss yoo, Thank you, thank you, thank you, a thousand million thanks for the happy ending. I haven't watched episode 15 and 16 yet, but I have received the confirmation that I needed to gather my courage and watch the episodes. You just made an old ahjumma's life a nicer one. Be happy miss yoo cause you have made so many people happy with a beautiful ending for the most deserving couple of a happy ending in what can only be described as a beautiful story. For me, lee kang doo is always and ever way better than what lee junho can ever be and ha moon soo is always and ever better than won ji ah can ever be. To me those two fictional character is a real life entity that had made other who come into contact with them, just better. Thank you again. I feel really grateful to you. Have a good life dear writer, though we might never meet, I wish I could hug you thank you, once. Goodbye. V Jan 29 2018 11:11 am Hi Ms. Yoo, i really really really hope your drama- just between loves ends with happy ending. Everyone will die now or later and not everyone will have happy ending but can you make this story ends with happiness..... Tammy Jan 25 2018 12:00 pm Dear Writernim- I want to say thank you for writing a beautiful, realistic and unpretentious drama. It’s been excellent! I've watched a lot of dramas over the years and very few of them stop my eye-rolling due to the many clichés, tropes and ridiculous situations I find depicted. That said, they have provided entertainment. Your piece is also providing entertainment, but with it, I have had my heart stirred and indulged in much contemplation. Thanks for making me look forward to Mondays and Tuesdays and rooting for the happiness of ALL the characters. I am a firm fan! Lastly, I know this is your script and you can do with it as you wish, but I would like to echo the pleas of others who have done so in hopes of influencing things positively. Please allow our young couple the opportunity to experience together the joys as well as the ups and downs that life brings. For that to happen, they both need to be alive. Mina Jan 25 2018 11:25 am Please make just between lovers happy ending Aza Jan 25 2018 3:33 am Dear miss yoo, it's me again. I have just finished watching episode 14, after the teaser, I cried buckets. As the last episode falls on my birthday, I dare not watch the story anymore or else I will.from this year on celebrate my birthday with sadness for as long as I shall live. I'd like to tell you what happened to me when I was 13/14. A teacher had asked us to write a review of a movie. My friend wrote about a sad story that she had watched about a guy who was already down on his luck ended up with worse. I remembered the line she wrote, "God is not fair for making somebody who was already in bad situation wind up with worse circumstances" I honestly didn't know why this line stayed with me this long, for it was over 30 years ago or why it had struck.such a chord. All grown up, we understand that God doesn't make movies, producers, directors and writers do. And actors and actresses get well paid and praises and goes home to a good night's sleep. But that thought that resonates within a teenager... I wonder, what will it do to her? Something? Nothing? Everything?. I like your work in just between lovers, I really do. But the unfairness and unresolved unhappiness makes me question your point again. Grandma, has had her happiness, I guess if she was around, she'd sass you heavily for killing off such a character. No matter how much I wish I could sass you, I couldn't. However, let me ask you this favour before you write the next story, please don't let another innocent girl think that God is unfair. Sadzakhieomma Jan 24 2018 7:57 pm Dear ms. Yoo. I think i have to say gumawo to you. I am so happy because of this drama. I can feel the emotion. I can feel the spirit. I feel sympathy. Thank you for lee gang do that really act well by junho. And ha moon so by won jin ah. The story is great, PD is great. Actors are great. All the detail is super. Thank you for production team. Everyone is doing a great job. If you don't won daesang... This story ia already grow in my heart. Thank you. yong Jan 24 2018 11:32 am Dear Ms.Yoo, I do not usually do this kind of thing like complaint about how the story was going. But, I need to tell you how your drama, just between lovers, have a special place in my heart. It's so deep, not only about happiness, mostly about sadness and pain, but the healing process was so beautiful and sweet. And sincerely, I really want it to stay there as a great and beautiful memory. Please, please, do not let him die. Therefore I can still remember it as a great and beautiful story and anytime can happily looking back for it. Do not you think they've struggled enough? Please give hope to those who are waiting for it. Otherwise, it will be too pitiful and unfair, isn't it? At least, they deserve to be happy, right? I know it's not going to change anything. But pretty please, I almost beg you, with my last hope, I hope he can heal the pain and start anew, living a normal life with people he loves. Please.. Aza Jan 23 2018 8:37 am Dear ms/mr Yoo I cannot begin to tell you how much I've enjoyed and learned from your latest drama just between lovers. Thank you from the. Bottom of my heart for writing this story. There is so much to learn here about the grieving process. And I guess if a main character in this drama dies, I'll be grieving again as well. I cannot really accept sad endings. However, since I've come this far avidly watching this story, I would probably be seeing the last episode as well no matter how it goes. The last episode of this movie would end on my birthday. If ever our paths should cross, I would like to have a cup of coffee with you. Just because. sarah Jan 21 2018 9:04 pm thanks for just between loves i loved it also i didn't know you wrote secret love and youth i loved these two as well Anaxii Jan 20 2018 5:13 pm So far it was a great story of Just Between Lovers.
