In 1947, Sahee Inugami dies, leaving behind a fortune. His will will be announced after his grandson Sukekiyo returns from the war. Several months later, Kosuke Kindaichi (Shigeaki Kato) receives a letter from Toyoichiro Wakabayashi. He works for the law office that represents the Inugami family. According to the letter, "soon, some bad thing will take place to the Inugami Family. Please stop that from happening."
