Set during the Joseon period, Ok Tae-Young (Lim Ji-Yeon) is a legal expert. She is smart, has an excellent work ethic, and is athletic. Even in difficult situations, she doesn't hesitate to help people. That is why she is loved by people around her, but she has secret. Her secret is that her name, husband, and her status are all fake. She happens to meet Cheon Seung-Hwi (Choo Yeong-Woo). He is a story-teller and travels all around the country reciting novels to people. He happens to meet Ok Tae-Young and falls in love with her at first sight. He stays near her and helps her no matter what.

Well-written, well-directed, well-acted, well-produced. Enemies-turned-allies storyline is my favorite. A heatwarming story with Perfect ending. One of the best sageuk dramas I've ever watched in my life.

Wade Manix Aug 02 2025 10:43 pm I got hooked on kdramas several months ago and have watched dozens of them so far. There have been a few I found memorable. This one will join that group. First, let me praise the writers for coming up with an original plot and developing it so well. The plot is really improbable, but they made it seem convincing. As in so many of these series, the acting is superb. These two lead stars should have been honored by their industry, and should be used frequently in future dramas. The idea of a young woman taking on the establishment at that time is commendable, but the introduction of homosexuality was a bold stroke that has to be praised. To conclude, the production, the direction, and the post-production are all excellent, but again, the writing and the acting, especially by the two leads, are to be celebrated. If you haven't seen this drama, you are missing out on a work of art.

Norik BC Jun 12 2025 3:15 pm Choo young Woo , first time seeing him in a drama ,I cannot stop my admiration ,by every episode ,as I watch , he becomes better and better developing his character . He is unbelievably talented actor ,even with his young age he has managed greatness . Korea get ready for another great artist in your midst. I wish that homosexual part was not included , this is a great drama about relationships . However just to see his acting please watch this drama , of course lim ji yeon , his female counterpart , had a great chemistry with him and others too bad she is 10 years older , and I’m sure the loving scenes were limited because of that , I don’t understand why they don’t pick leads closer to their ages . Every member has shown great talent , bravo to the director .

The plot or the storyline was not ever possible in historical times and it felt like a fake imagined scenario of modern day story .

Surprisingly good! I'm not a hardcore fan of saeguk dramas and i only like Under the Queen's Umbrella so far, but this series easily became one of my best watch! I'm impressed with the idea of fake identity for both main leads and i find it unique in way that its not the typical cliche story that goes a nobleman and a poor character getting involved in romantic relationship and the people around them trying to get in the way or whatever. Historical dramas are often filled with heavy corruption and violence, but this ones i think is a bit bearable. It is well written and i love how the people behind this series (directors, writers, etc.) along with the actors were able to give justice to this show.

Lim ji yeon really has the eyes of a villain that even tho she's the main protagonist here, her showing her feisty attitude whenever she's facing her enemies or fighting to get justice for her clients as a legal advocate scares me and gives me goosebumps.

Came here for chok Yeong Woo but fell inlove with Lim Ji Yeon.

At episode 3, they were talking about Tae-young and Yoon-gyeom’s marriage; but Tae-yeong is hesitant because of her real identity. Her grandmother mentioned that “If anything happens, I will take responsibility for it.” After that, her role/character just disappeared from the story.

Based on the title, the Tale means she died?! My heart is really sad if this will be the ending. Kim Dec 15 2024 7:27 pm I gave this drama a chance although I am not into the plot nor know anything about the ML. It was my first time watching him, even at that as a lead, and I mostly tried to watch this because of Lim Ji-Yeon. So I watched episode 1 and got intrigued because of how they started the drama, and I envision that character development and improvements will come as the episode goes on. I was right, just episode 2 and it was a done deal for me. I will continue this and already added it to my weekly drama binge. I love following a FL's character and situation changes at just the right timing, the writer did well in writing her character and LJY is doing well in portraying her character.

Jezak Dec 11 2024 11:02 am I'm loving this drama so far. The pace is good, all the actors and actresses are great, and the little comedy is enjoyable. I also like that even though it's love at first sight, the ML is not cringey or overwhelming to the FL and that he just wants to be there to help her. Each episode up to 3 is filled with angst but it is balanced out well with thrill, excitement, and just a hint of romance (for now). I also love that the FL is a strong FL character and isn't a damsel in distress. I cannot wait for the next few episodes because I'm very curious about Song Seo-In / Cheon Seung-Hwi and Sung Yoon-Gyum and how their characters will play out.
