A story about the dreams and love of young people who also carry wounds and trauma. Ko Gyum (Choi Woo-Sik) becomes a movie critic after working as an extra actor. He loves movies so much that his goal is to watch all the movies made in the world. Kim Mu-Bee (Park Bo-Young) then comes into his life. Ko Gyum is very curious about her and he even likes her name that sounds like "movie." Kim Mu-Bee began to work in movie industry due to her love and hatred for her father (who loved movies more than her) and her own curiosity on what exactly is a movie. She has a quiet and peaceful life in the movie industry, but Ko Gyum, who stands out too much, suddenly appears in front of her and causes change in her life. Meanwhile, Hong Si-Jun (Lee Jun-Young) thinks of himself as a genius, but he is still an unknown songwriter. His ex-girlfriend Son Ju-A (Jeon So-Nee) works as a screenwriter.

I love park boyoung but this is my least favorite drama of her. And choi woosik hmm idk i just can’t enjoy every drama that he’s in it. I don’t dislike him, i just can’t enjoy and like his dramas. Even our beloved summer, i gave it a try because it was popular but it was just overhyped.

Kate Jun 21 2025 8:49 pm This movie has so many amazing characters, each with their own heavy emotional baggage. The complex characters are slowly unfolded and then explored whole being intertwined. Very realistic to real life. Emotions take time to analyze and conclude. A very deep life movie. Acting was really great. And Choi woo shik is still totally youthful and beyond adorable. I watched it because of him. But I found all of the characters interesting. I laughed a lot too. Choi woo shik is so cute. He made me smile through out the movie. The story was interesting. But I think you need to be in the right headspace for this one.

A lot of them kdrama out there really make you cringe and repetitive scence but not this drama. The storyline depict different real life situations that most adults can relate to. The cinematography of this drama were amazing. Been a long time fan of both lead Park Bo Young and Choi Woo Shik. They were a dream pairing. Every scene of them both together gave you butterfly. Excellent acting from both and the rest of the cast. Thank you for a beautiful and healing drama to start the year of 2025!

I was tired of the clichés often seen in K-dramas, such as love at first sight, the couple discovering they knew each other as children and being destined for each other, or the main couple getting temporarily separated in the last two episodes only to reunite at the end.

However, this drama avoids those clichés; it simply depicts young adults experiencing young adult love and facing relatable problems. It's quite calming, and I can connect with the characters. The conflicts are minor and don't emotionally drain the viewer. If I need a drama to pass the time later, I might consider rewatching this.

Julie Apr 10 2025 12:29 am It may be slow moving, but wonderful to watch, especially the character development of Kim Jae Wook, the limping, injured older brother who is injured inside and out. His acting is outstanding, he makes the character real and the viewer can feel his suffering and empathise. Leads are cute and well known. The story a bit shallow, but the acting is superb. They all need a faster plot line and better script.

Don’t blame the actors or director, they have to work with what they are given,

Wooshik is incredible actor he protrayed emotional comedic romantic scenes so well. Brother was literally a father to him Jae Wook really suits the handsome kind old brother. Young is amazing too. I love the way writer protrayed 2nd leads love story. They are so much in love but just love only is not enough . Specially boy didnt understand the girl well. Girl was really like a fangirl rather a girlfriend . Lee Jun Young is so talented he lives in that character

Some say it's a slow drama, but for me with the good cinematography you won't realize because this slow pace is needed to make this stroy a whole. It teaches us how important loved ones are to our mental and spiritual health. The writing and acting was brilliant. I can't recommend this wholesome, unforgettable Korean drama enough. There's something in it and the actors are good, I just regret that all the men are pathetic losers, except maybe one: Director Ma, who is always a loser, but a tenacious loser. Kdrama Llama Feb 26 2025 2:08 am If you enjoyed Our Beloved Summer, this drama is definitely for you. The style and approach and, of course, the ML are the same. Choi Woo Shik’s character is quite similar to his OBS role - laid back and charming - but here there’s an added layer that took it to another level in his relationship with his older brother, which was sad, fragile but also life affirming. They literally lived the whole lives for each other.

I loved Park Bo Gum’s Mubee, the second lead couple, director Ma, the video store owner and, of course, Kim Jae Wook as the tormented but utterly devoted brother. The quiet portrayal of devastating grief, and the later scenes in the car, honestly made me ugly cry. It’s not a thriller or action packed, the various love stories in it aren’t based on grand gestures or big displays of affection instead it showed it’s the little things that mean so much (again I’m thinking about the car scenes with Gyum and Si Jun, sob!). It’s also beautifully shot.

I love when the characters bring up unforgettable classic films from foreign lands as well, like Cinema Paradiso or Hitchcock films. The music OST is delicate and lovely. I love the brotherly love story too, it's adorable. Kim Jae Wook was perfect casting for Choi Woo Sik's older brother. Been watching him in dramas for over two decades. He never disappoints. Park Bo Young is perfect casting too. She always excels in roles that display gentle humor. She makes me smile. :)

No hyperbolic or too far-fetched story, simple and relatable scenes that happen in our normal life. The 1-4 episodes might seem uninteresting, but the climax begins at 5th episode and so on. All characters eventually has their own story, the top tearjerker was the relationship between the main male lead and his brother. Must watch for those who love ‘melo movie’ or simply romcom with a touch of family movie.

Donut Sugar Feb 22 2025 1:43 am Finally finished this drama… and it really took some time. At first, I struggled because the pacing was just too slow and honestly, a bit boring. But that was the whole Point to create a heartwarming and healing story that unfolds gradually.

In the beginning, it was hard to fully understand the characters and kept wondering, what is this story even about? the characters may seem confusing or even unrelatable. Their action and feelings are unclear.

But as it progressed, I can see that the writer wanted to highlight the struggles of each character, Mubee, Ko Gyum, Ko Jun, Hong Sijun, and Son Jua and why they acted the way they did.

By the end, everything take places. Each character emotions was revealed and how they feel, explaining their earlier actions. However, the way the drama chose to unfold these revelations so late in the story made it a difficult watch (I still don't get and fully understand why Ko Jun live in depress in his whole life). If only the pacing had been better, this could have been a much more engaging experience.

Overall, Melo Movie is not for everyone (unless you like slow burn pace) It’s slow, realistic, and emotionally heavy. But if you’re patient, it does have a meaningful message at its core.

Shin Feb 20 2025 2:59 pm Love Park Bo-young but this is another cliche ridden drama full of idiotic tropes… Especially the one where the male lead just disappears for years without explanation and then reappears and expects the female lead to just be fine with it (Dear Hyeri, serendipity’s embrace etc etc) is the dumbest of them all! I don’t care what their reasons for disappearing were but unless they were kidnapped by aliens and were unable to call, text or send a freaking email there are no excuses. And this is a guy saying this.

@Donut Sugar - girl you’re tripping! I’m guessing you’re not that well versed in the Korean culture but kissing is not as frivolous as you in your western little mind think! He was the one always chasing her around & when she finally gave in & opened up to him he disappeared! If you can’t understand this I feel sorry for you…

Donut Sugar Feb 20 2025 9:42 am Now that I’m on Episode 5, I realize I’m actually more invested in the second lead’s storyline than the main couple. Hong Sijun and Son Jua’s relationship dynamic feels more compelling and his anger towards her makes sense. They were together for seven years, and then she suddenly decided to break up to pursue her dream. Now she’s back, successful, while he’s still stuck in the same place. And to make it worse, she wants to work with him like nothing ever happened. I completely understand why he feels frustrated.

On the other hand, Mubee anger towards Ko Gyum still doesn’t make sense to me. Yes, he like her but she was the one who kissed him first. They weren’t even in a relationship, so why is she acting like he betrayed her? It feels more like her own internal issue rather than something Ko Gyum should be held accountable for. He doesn’t owe her an explanation for disappearing.

As for Ko Gyum, I actually feel more sympathy towards him than anyone else. It’s clear he’s dealing with a lot behind the scenes but still manages to stay positive. His struggle with his brother seem far more interesting than his romance with Mubee, and I’m more curious about how it will goes rather than their relationship drama.

I understand that they try to give a more realistic ending but it wasn’t very clearly motivated why they didn’t end up together after all. We can guess that Ju A is genuinely fan of his music, not just based on her feelings for him. Also probably they didn’t want them returning back together after Si Jun became successful. It would make their relationship too superficial. But still the writer can find a better way to wrap up their story. Like going back to each other by really getting to know themselves etc. ok happy endings are not realistic all the time. But they have such a love, affection,, respect to the talent of each other, they built a connection through such a long past. As you get older even as friends it is not possible to build such deep relationships later in life, let alone finding a partner in the same level of connection they showed in the show. So I think a more realistic approach would be showing them miserable for longing such a deep connection that they created when they get a little bit older and reconnecting not to re-live the past but by re-knowing each other this time with a better communication. Because that was the only missing thing in their relationship: better communication and they solved it in their final meetings by letting out whatever they think.

Another thing that didn’t make sense is Ko Gyum being ok with unemployment and quitting his well paying movie critic job for a travel agency job. Is the travel agency relevant because he wants to help people to travel now as he didn’t keep his promise to travel with his brother? Ok even so how rich he is to make a sudden career switch and being unemployed for a long time? Also at the end he doesn’t even work there, just hanging out at Mubi’s movie set without getting paid again probably.

So ending of these both stories rushed a lot apparently.

I think the writer and director mainly wanted to tell this story to tell Ko Jun’s story: a sibling story in which the big brother wants to die through his whole life and just holds on for his little brother and a little brother who develops a “always happy” personality to make his big brother stay with him. Even though he’s sick of watching movies, he has to because they are the only things making him not lonely. Big brother knows it even the little brother hides it behind his happy personality but cannot help himself still and feels miserable about what he puts through his little brother. Then trying to end his life. Later we understand that he actually regrets that decision and wants to live again but due to his heart disease he cannot. Maybe heart disease happened because of all the stress he lived through his life because of his depression and alienated feeling. They portrayed very nicely the dynamics between two brothers and the actors were great playing their role..

Another thing that is very nicely told was Mubi wanting to make melodrama to tell a story of people loving each other and then she thinks her father holding her hand while watching movies. So even she says from outside she was never loved, she knows she was loved a lot by both of her father and mother. So intrinsically, maybe at the beginning even without knowing, she wants to tell story of love. I think that was told very nicely as wel.

One thing that frustrating is Mubee’s reaction to Ko Gyum disappearing. I get that she upset, but does she really have to treat him like an enemy? They weren’t even in a relationship.. Her emotions make sense, but the way she handles them feels overly dramatic, which makes it hard to fully connect with her character.

For now it’s a bit of a struggle to stay invested. Hoping for better pacing and character development soon!

At first I started watching without having high expectations, but now I could say that it was one of the top dramas I’ve watched in my whole life. From where do I even start, everything was great. The story, the cinematography, the acting, the ost , literally every single thing. I’ve cried and smiled like an idiot. It was extremely touching. Would definitely recommend it for everyone. 1000000 of 10! Thank you for making my time very valuable while watching it.

I haven’t finished it yet, there is still 3 episode to go but I already know I’m going to re watch it again later. Everything is perfect so far, great casting, great storyline, great screenplay. When Choi woo shik is in a drama, you know it’s going to be good.

Lee Na Eun Fans Feb 16 2025 8:11 am The drama was really good! 10 episodes felt too short, and towards the end, it seemed rushed and crammed in. There was still so much story that could’ve been developed. I’m not sure if this was due to Netflix’s production constraints or if it was the writer’s choice. It’s surprising because the same writer did Our Beloved Summer, which had such a well-paced, deep yet soothing storyline, perfectly complemented by its soundtrack—truly one of the best healing dramas.

I initially watched this because it was written by the same writer and starred Choi Woo Shik and Park Bo Young, but I ended up getting more drawn into Hong Si Jun and Son Ju A’s story, especially because of Lee Jun Young’s acting. I really don’t understand why the writer didn’t bring them back together—they clearly still loved each other. Ju A even kissed Si Jun in the final episode, yet she still refused to be with him? That part felt unclear and not well-explained. The reason for their breakup also wasn’t conveyed strongly from Ju A’s perspective, whereas from Si Jun’s side, it was painfully obvious how much he loved her and how devastated he was.

Ju A was the one who wanted to work with Si Jun again. She was still the first person to listen to his songs. So in the end, I just don’t fully understand or relate to what the writer was trying to say. They showed all these moments, making it clear that their biggest issue was miscommunication, yet they still didn’t end up together?

I really hope Lee Na-Eun noona reads this. I’m looking forward to her next work! In the midst of this exhausting and tough world, her stories bring a sense of healing. I used to enjoy fantasy dramas full of plot twists, but as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to appreciate dramas like this even more. I hope her future works continue to give viewers a moment to breathe and heal amidst the fast-paced chaos of life. Lee Na-Eun… Fighting!!!
