Yoon Dan-O (Shin Ye-Eun) enjoyed a comfortable life as the beloved youngest daughter, but not anymore. She is the breadwinner of her family and runs Ihwawon Inn. The guests at Ihwawon Inn are scholars who came to Hanyang to take the exam to become a ranking official. The scholars at Inn Ihwawon includes Kang San (Ryeo Un), Kim Shi-Yeol (Kang Hoon) and Jung Yoo-Ha (Jung Gun-Joo). One day, an unexpected case shakes their life. Yoon Dan-O is offered the chance to have the debt on Ihwawon Inn wiped clear if she is able to find Lee Seol, who is the oldest son of the deposed crown prince. Yoon Dan-O, Kang San, Kim Shi-Yeol and Jung Yoo-Ha attempt to find the missing man.

jada Mar 09 2026 6:27 pm If you’ve ever watched Sungkyunkwan Scandal—despite the later scandals surrounding the male cast—you’ll notice the lack of chemistry among the trio and FL in Romantic Guesthouse. Might be due to a lack of acting experience, but the two main leads seemed to miss a natural flow in their performances. Their acting was fine, but it felt a bit lacking depth. The sister character was annoying TBH not like her fiancee wouldnt have killed the watchman, and hearing the female lead constantly refer to them as “orabeoni” was just as annoying esp since they did not have that sibling kind of relationship and it wasn't cute. The storyline itself was interesting, and the supporting cast did a great job. Would have been superb with aligning chemistry among the cast. 7/10

Park Min Dec 29 2023 5:31 pm They tried to sprinkle in some fake scripted bland romance in the beginning but they forgot to add the chemistry to the mix and develop it gradually, so it ended up being too delayed to care about. The same thing can be said about the mystery once it dwindled, like it lost its mojo in a heartbeat. The trend continued until the end without ever recovering. To put it simply, the story was dead on arrival from all angles and salvaging it was near impossible. As if that wasn't enough, we had to endure it for 18 episodes. Which leaves us with the saddest part, the cast, specifically the leads. What a fine collection of disappointing soulless performances. I guess FL was kinda passable to a certain degree but the other trio boys were a lost cause.

Pks Dec 25 2023 6:06 am Not the best sageuk as it has many flaws in direction and editing.. Also the male lead is somewhat stiff with expressions.. But other characters are nicely done and drama gets better as it progresaea.. And for the ending I would give full marks.. Very complete ending unlike most sageuks..

Hi Oct 28 2023 8:51 pm The second couple's angst isn't necessary TBH.. yoon hongju should communicate with siyeol instead of being overly sad of her fiancee.. it's not like her fiancee is a good person as she believes, since he wants to kill lee seol (kang san) merely to impress the tyrant.. I was rooting more on this couple but after eps 16-17 I started getting annoyed with her character

The couples are stunning andtouchingthe heart, the story intricate and captivating, the scenes subtle, nothing overdone, perfect timing and sequencing, had me smiling and crying all the way through. The music too, beautifully illustrative, even though there are no catchy lead songs. But then, they might have distracted from the story.

Motunade Sep 18 2023 9:26 am Wow....this drama had me hooked from start to finish.... recently I've been finding kdramas kinda boring until I decided to give this drama a trial which I'm happy I did the story writing was superb...no unnecessary dragging of the storyline... everything was just straight to the point which is what made it beautiful I love the way San conceded the throne admitting yu ha will make a better king and I love the way the writer didn't make the brothers start fighting for the throne...I finished this drama with a smile on my face....I look forward to more of Ryeo Un and that his deep voice?♥️

Too many actors to mention, the leads are remarkable…Shin Ye Eun, Ryeo Un, Jung Gun-Joo, Kang Hoon each sparkle…together, an acting force to behold. It’s fusion historical drama , so it has romcom , funny and weird moments , plus some serious but not crybaby type like other historical drama . I also think the title doesn’t suit at all, I will prefer three flower musketeers .. all 3 main casts please to the eyes . :-) plus female lead also pretty and good at acting. Whoever hate her at Glory , will love her here.

Victory May 13 2023 5:36 am This drama is simply the best..but I wish for a happy ending...the love story of the watch man and Lady hong ju..is the sweetest romance in this drama ever...Dan o is funny not good in the romance aspect... And Jesse I never thought of si yeol to be the watch man he was so naive and didn't look like he could raise a sword...my God it was so unpredictable.... All I thought was kang San was the watch man and si yeol was the crown prince...and sec I never saw Lee gyoem coming into this as the other son the late king...my head nearly bust out.... I love it I love it...so unpredictable and trilling.. I can't wait for the next episode... I am checking the internet everyday to see if its out.... And I pray hong ju forgives si seol he was only performing his duty as the watch man....and I don't know if I am the only one who thinks the title of this drama doesn't suit the story...it should have been titled the WATCH MAN....

I still hate him to the bones from CLOY, I am not a fan of his but I acknowledge his skills. I am sad that it is ending next week but happy that they did not become greedy by extending it.

Betty May 08 2023 10:15 am I love this drama and ost, the romance is soft and sweet will make you giggle. All 4 main casts are good looking. I think San and Dan have very good chemistry they can speak thru their eyes and truly care each other. Storyline is ok , not the best for historical kdrama, but tbh , my own opinion, it’s better than most recent Blooming Youth. It’s must see, it’s relaxing and just right amount for entertainment purpose.

When we see these seriels down the line we relate with them infact become a household characters.By the time it catches up so well and start mingling with them the serial gets over.And we miss all of them.Anyway thanks guys once again great job

Light May 02 2023 8:43 pm It feels like the drama will take the direction I'm hoping for to happen. From the start I want San to be Lee Seol but I don't want him to become a king. So there's the need for another royal to take the throne and now we have Yooha and he seems more savvy about politics than San right now. I think it's because he grew up in Hanyang (or near it) the Joseon Capital and no one in the palace know Lee Gyeom's existence so there's no danger threaten him thus he has more access to learn about politics. On the other hand, San spent his time hiding far from the Capital and learn more about martial art for his own survival and maybe for revenge too so he is not as savvy in politics. Though I'm sure if he become the king he will eventually learn about it and be a good king with help from Yooha. But No! I don't want San and Dan-oh trapped in the palace politics, I want them to live happily and freely outside the palace. Both of them had such a suffocating life. San has been chased since he was a kid and Dan-oh became her family's main breadwinner since such a young age. So I hope they they can live a worry-free life. It's the same for Shiyeol and Hongjoo, I wish them all a happy and free life.

I can accept the romance thingy, but the over-romance slow down the pace of the story and its really annoying and not too exciting as I watch in the earlier episode. Overall, 4 episodes left I guess.

Also, the secrets are revealed within a reasonable amount of time and doesn't get drawn out for a excessively long time. I also like that the characters express their feelings without keeping it hidden.

Now I got to hate the character of Yoo Ha since the begining I got an I'll feeling towards him. And the mother is grabbing the opportunity for her to gain power and to banished her low status and to eventually become the Queen Mother.

Like Why would you fake your identity to help the nation if you can do a lot of greater things without even becoming a king? Well You can search for your brother and help him enthrone and be back to rightful place and assist him to state matters and politics. Well I guess Yoo Ha is also hungry for power.

Looking forward on how this story unfold.

She seems to be very close to Chief Administrator Jang Tae-Hwa (JTH) serving him and reporting to him all the movements of Ihwawon Inn. Yet she is coo-ing to Kang San wanting to be close to him. Double-Agent or she feels JTH can feed her ego?

Glad Shi-Yeol and Kang San are safe and both roles are revealed. Yoo-ha seems to be the "son" of Hwa Ryeung seeing how she's protecting him Does Minister Shin Won-Ho knows Yoo-ha is Hwa Ryeung's son?

My guess the son of the deposed crown prince is Kang San, as he must have learnt from the older watchman how to become one. And yes, there can be more than one watchmen to protect him. Good story and acting.

jojoanna Apr 17 2023 11:03 am watching Ep 07 ending and ouch i want to whack smack Kim Shi-Yeol. Is he so blinded by love that he would lead Master Jang guards to Dan-O place of stay? What if the guards also see Dan-O unnie? Then is Shi-Yeol prepared to pay the consequence...If he is really the Watchman...i am worried for the sisters. He is too free and easy compared to Kang San. Even Yoo-Ha is alert mode. Notice how Yoo-Ha is on alert mode when he go visit Dan-O? This Shi-Yeol...ouch...too painful to think of the consequence. Now Dan-O is in the hands of the guards while Shi-Yeol is happily sitting in the open at Dan-O house and even bigger ouch is Dan-O unnie comes out from her room and sits there. Hey...there's danger as long as Master Jang is around. The only possibility any of you can escape from Master Jang is Master Jang demise or the sisters demise. 18 Episodes and we are about half way thru the series. Overall the story line is good by me. And I like to see that Ahn Nae-Sang as Minister Shin Won-Ho is in this series. His voice somehow very soothing to hear :) :) :)

At this point which is in the middle of the story, the writers did a good job in spilling the beans, it was revealed that the hostess, Hwa Ryeong, with a sadness and longing in her eyes handed over a will to Yu Ha and brought him to a high ranking minister, and surprisingly the minister knelt and bowed his head, a gesture in respect to a higher status than him or one who comes from a royal family.

Dan Oh found Kang San's book and was amazed at the tiny illustrations on the bottom of every page of the book. It was a drawing of a female and male kid beside a white little barn that looks like a dog house, then her memories when she was still a child in mourning clothes flashed back when she met a little boy with blood on his clothes who hid on her dog's house.

There could be two sons of the deposed prince. And there could be two suns in the sky over the secret romantic guesthouse. And the guessing game is still not over yet as to who is snowflakes' watchman.

Secret Romantic Apr 12 2023 2:06 pm I still think that Shi Yeol is the watchman. He was there watchmanning over Lee Seol when he hid in the dog house and that is how he knew about Boksil. He also only came to the guesthouse after Kang Sang & he seems to know alot but plays dumb. He probably feels guilty for killing ghost sisters fiance and that's why he no longer kills ppl but still protects Lee Seol.

injeolmiii Apr 11 2023 12:28 pm Because if you see, Kang san is so obviously the main character because he has the most screen time with dan-oh and in general, also in yesterday's episode someone left a box with the dragon compass lid in it and this happened right after kang san visited so I'm guessing that's him. Also in last week's episode when he came over to protect dan-oh from the mean guy (forgot his name) he was dressed as the watchman, but his swordsmanship wasn't as good as the real watchman who came to protect him after, which I'm guessing is she-yeol because out of the three scholars, even though yu-ha went back to see what was going on, I doubt he had enough time to get changed, go round the back and jump over that roof. He can't have known that this was gonna happen either so he can't have prepared to protect lee sell. However shi-yeol wasn't present in this whole situation so I'm guessing he's the watchman.

mongji Apr 11 2023 11:59 am I just finished Episode 3 and I've been jumping guesses from Shi-Yeol (because his name is close to Lee Seol and he named the dog BokSil) to Kang San (because he doesn't want to use swords to kill and the no eye contact thing with eunuch) and now to Yoo Ha (simply because he stayed in the inn long before the new guests came and that Yook-Ho could be his night watchman).

Yoo Ha is my top guess so far, but I have to get more clues. If it hasn't been revealed yet, I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes. I love how the writers are not making it so obvious who Lee Seol is.

Yet still I'm not convinced by that because my gut is telling me that Kang San is the son of deposed crown prince. Maybe Kang San was trained to be a watchman to hide his identity?

I guess I have to keep watching.

Kim shi yeol might be the watch man, but again, not so sure. Also, he is definitely the love interest of Dan Oh's sister, Yoon Hong-Joo and I'm here for it. As for Jung Yoo-Ha.. idk, I feel something's off about him.

Hmmm Mar 30 2023 9:54 am Watchman looks older than Lee Seol based on flashbacks so its impossible for Kang San to be the watchman, it is either Shiyeol or Yuha because they look older than both Kang San and Danoh. Also younger Lee Seol looks more like Kang San aside from the other two guys. I also think that Shiyeol has an important role but I don't believe he is Lee Seol since that reveal was too early.

So I think the ship goes Danoh & Kang San (obviously) Shiyeol & Danoh's sister Yuha & Banya

Thats only possible for everyone gets a happy ending.

San has a tsundere male-lead quality and YuHa is a second-male-lead we all are familiar with, but Kim SiYeol is a refreshing character.. his comedic personality is not what we expect from a lead character, yet they put Kang Hun's name in front of the other two male actors like the character is more important than the others.. i think this drama has surprises that surpass our knowledge of K-drama..

Dan Oh is obviously the FL, but it seems like Ryeoun is the ML here, Although I wanted it to be Kang Hoon, just because he's totally nailing his role. He's like Song Joongki's character in Sungkyungkwan so he's probably not the ML? though I still wish he is

He also seems adamant in showing his identity tag when the officials were searching because the tag might be fake. However, another possibility is that he was adopted by a good family when he was on the run (which explains why he said that he is from the Kang clan; and the official acknowledged).

So far, the episodes are good. I hope the remaining episodes will not disappoint. Looking forward.

haupiamaster Mar 21 2023 11:33 pm @Loveyoi it makes more sense if Kang San is Lee Seol rather than the watchman. San is likely the same age as Seol, and that he wanted to be a warrior/swordsman/military because of what happened to him that night. Teen Seol's words to (what looks like Jang Tae-hwa's son) is very similar to San's words about why he uses a wooden sword instead of a real one.

I really would have wanted Dano to end up with Shi Yeol (because I love Kang Hoon since The Red Sleeve) but it looks like she will end up with San eventually. Love the main leads (and the whole Flower Inn crew) in their previous dramas, and even though I've refrained from saeguks this year, I'm really enjoying this show so far.

Loveyoi Mar 21 2023 7:47 pm I think lee seol is Yu-ha. And kang san was the watchman that protected him when he was being attacked. My theory is someone took in Lee Seol and changed his name so it’s probably Yu ha or Shi Yeol because they were taken in and disowned by their own family.
