In 1999, Kim Yong (Yeo Jin-Goo) studies mechanical engineering at a university. He first entered the school in 1995, but took time off to perform his mandatory military service. After finishing his military service, he came back to school as a student. His first love is Seo Han-Sol (Kim Hye-Yoon).

Yong then somehow communicates with Kim Mu-Nee (Cho Yi-Hyun). Kim Mu-Nee lives in the present day. She enrolled at her university in 2021 and majors in sociology. Kim Yong and Kim Mu-Nee, who are from different time periods, communicate and their story unfolds.

KST Nov 07 2023 8:51 am Its really nice movie but I still like Ditto 2000 movie more. It was really more emotional than this. Anyhow Yeo jin goo and choi yi hyun's acting is really impressive here.I wish if Kim hye yoon's role is replaced by another actress. She is not matching to this role.

Mike Sep 21 2023 7:30 pm I just saw this movie and loved it! Great writing, taking the story to another level when we see a connection between the two past and present ham operators. I thought the ending had to be the way it ended, for the existence of the sweet Mu-Nee, and the scene with Mu-Nee meeting Kim Yong at his book signing was so emotional... Kim Yong's wedding ring is noticeable, so to me, he has moved on, and Mu-Nee expressing her gratitude to Kim Yong for his decision to stop seeing her mom, allowing her mom to marry her dad and thereby giving the miracle of life to her. So, the ending made sense to me, although sad and bittersweet.

Maria Errica M. Lim May 06 2023 7:20 pm Ditto 2000 and 2022 movies has the same time travelling plots as Il Mare movie of Jun Ji Hyun on 2000. Il Mare is where the 2006 hollywood film of Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves is based from. Both the original Korean and the remade Hollywood are highly recommended to watch as these are both a feel good movie that will leave a lasting impression to its viewers.

Time travelling through the Ham radio, the two individual finds comfort by confiding in each other, although 20 years apart from their real time space, their bond grew only to find that they have a connection through the special person in their lives. Kim Yong from 20 years ago is the first love of Seo Han Sol and his bestfriend is Kim Eun Sung, on the other side of the radio, at present lives Kim Mu Nee who is secretly in love with her friend of 7 years, Oh Young Ji. Together while conversing on a Ham radio, they become each other’s confidante, they soon learn about each other more. Both could hardly believe their connection as Kim Mu Nee is the daughter of Yong’s bestfriend and his first love. Mun Nee on the other hand felt the guilt that she could be the reason why the lovers went their separate ways. Yong was eager to go after his one true love Han Sol but upon seeing her with Eun Suk on a tender moment upon finding Mok Man, Yong’s beloved pet turtle, he started to retreat and disappear from both his friend and his girlfriend’s lives. Mun Nee tried to reach Yong through his father’s ham radio, to no avail. The story of love became her topic on her class presentation and it was well applauded. She later fround out through Young Ji who gave her the book about time travelling, that the person she talks to over the ham radio could be the writer behind the book. She went to see the writer on his book signing event and soon they were able to recognize each other as “old friends”. Being honest about her feelings is what Yong has written on his note to Mun Nee. It gave her the strength to reveal her true feelings for Young Ji, only to find out that her long time friend likes her too “ditto”

The story of the main character’s encompasses that one should not give up on love and on their dreams, if there is still a chance to pursue the love, one should still go for it but although one could chase for that one true love, it could also mean setting that one true love free so as to move on to its future. Love exist and revolves in mysterious ways and only love could make one understand how and where that love and dream could lead to.

On the story, maybe Yong could have thought that if he chased after Han Sol, Mun Hee could have not lived on the present day. They could have been together, but Mun Hee could not exist. One might have an idea, what if there is a hidden chapter out of the story, that the lovers might have spent a night together, thus having Mun Hee out of that encounter? Maybe because Yong suddenly disappeared, his best friend owned his responsibilty to Han Sol and gave his name to their lovechild? This could be thought of too.

A part 2 of the story could be longed for as viewers might be asking about the hidden chapters that the movie was not able to unfold, of course there is the part missing as to how Yong is living and healing his broken heart aside from living his dream and being a writer.

but I don't understand with turtles, what happened? Kim Young looks everywhere until it rains. but when found he simply gave up. and didn't Han Sol and Eun Sung who were his closest friends know that the turtle was Kim Young's pet?

and I'm quite surprised Yoo Jae Myung plays a sweeper here. moreover he is a role without dialogue, which I think he will have his own story.

gobaek Feb 08 2023 4:32 am i love this movie, it was light but really touched my heart. Yong made so many decisions that actually really hard to make and it turns out to be his own happy ending. i would say 9/10, the plot, the acting, and the vibe is really cute and lovely.

saoirse Feb 05 2023 5:35 pm so I haven't watch the 2000 version but this new ver is sooo good! I really thought that they would end up together (Young and Muni) bec they were the main character but the plot was still amazing tho. SPOILER!!! I still cant move on and im still sobbing rn bec Young didn't end up with someone in the end of the story, instead became a writer of his own life, while Muni ended up with her friend and prolly became lovers in the end. I guess it was better that way, bec if Young and Han Gul ended up together, then Muni wouldn't exist at all. sooo, Young was a part of Muni's parents love story!!! Still disappointed tho, he didn't ended up with anyone.

reely Jan 23 2023 1:20 am I’m excited to see how this one went! Just finished watching the 2000 ver and I have expected the flow already but I wanna see some plot twists too. First thing I noticed is that the girl here was the one on the modern times and the guy’s in the 1999 which was already different from the 00 version so I’m really excited how will this turn out! Kinda intrugued that they both have the same surname haha so does the friend,, sooooo we’ll see!

Ha Ji Won was the second lead in the first movie and look how big her career became after the movie. Hoping this will be as successful as the first one!

Because the ML and FL were from different timeline. KHY's character lived in the same timeline with YJG's character, thus allowed them to have scenes together.

I always have high expectation that she will be a first female lead, but then.. she is just main lead (support or second lead female). So, sometimes, i feel sad about it.

But, this film plot is still great.. i can't wait it
