Plot

In 1979, college student Yoon So-Eun (Kim Ha-Neul) begins talking to another student via her ham radio. In the year 2000, college student Ji-In (Yoo Ji-Tae) begins talking to another student via his radio. Both of these students makes plans to meet their radio friend and through a series misunderstandings begin to realize that the persons they are talking to live in different time periods.

This movie is about how Yoon So-Eun reacted to the future she came to know.

 Please read after you watched the movie..

SPOILER: That is why I don't want to know the future.. Either it will motivate you to achieve that.. OR do NOTHING since eventually it will happen and you have no choice but to accept it.

Yoon So-Eun lost all her motivation.. because afterall, it will eventually happen. She didn't bother to fight for it. She didn't even confront her friend. She completely surrendered to the future she came to know. I think that's the reason why she hasn't moved on after all those years.. she did nothing to make her own future. She just surrendered to the future that is served to her. That's why she's still living in the past.

Yes, they are not destined, but fighting for it is a different story. She just abandoned it. That's why it's a sad story.

aicha Jul 15 2017 10:38 am It's been years since I've watched this. One of my first Korean Dramas but still my favorite movie. Usually I can't remember after a short time the content of the movies. It even surprises me that I still remember (after 7-8 years) every little scene in this movie.

I enjoyed Ditto so I wish there was an English subtitled version of Remember Me available, I would love to see how the ending was changed as the ending to Ditto was a little depressing. Korean movies/dramas are just too sad sometimes, I hope the Japanese altered the ending.

I really disliked the ending. Being single and childless at the age of approximately 43, it is unlikely she will have children, and that is very tragic. I wish she would have found another man by then. And why couldn't they talk when they met? Or talked at another time?

Nalyah Jun 16 2009 10:49 am This movie entered the cinemas in the same year as 'Il Mare', actually a few months earlier. Ditto is also about two parallel dimensions where the main characters are separated by time. Since the story is told by two students of different decades to one another, it makes the story not only intimate and personal but also becomes a witness to cultural and political changes within a country throughout time.

I, personally, liked the two main characters played by Ji-Tae Yu and Ha-Neul Kim. The movie isn't a tearjerker, although you might be touched by the story. I would recommend this movie to anyone that is up for a drama movie with a delicate dilemma.

It's funny how knowing the future makes one stick to it regardless of ones happiness...
