Nodoka Iwasaki (Nao) is a single mother, with a son. She has recently moved to a port city and experiences a hard time adjusting to the area. She begins to work at a hotel as staff member. One day, Nodoka Iwasaki meets fisherman Hiroshi Kataoka (Shinichi Tsutsumi) at the hotel. He is attending a banquet there. Circumstances leads Hiroshi Kataoka to praise Nodoka Iwasaki’s resourcefulness and he asks her to work for the fisherman. Nodoka Iwasaki doesn't know anything about the fishing industry, but she decides to work for the fisherman. Due to her unfamiliarity with the industry, she proposes a new idea of selling fish directly to businesses. A sensation in the fishing industry is created.

- "The First Penguin" takes over NTV's Wednesday 22:00 time slot previously occupied by "Home Tutor" and followed by "Reversal Orchestra" on January 11, 2023.
- Screenplay is based on the life of Chika Tsubouch. She founded Hagi Oshima Sendanmaru in 2011, which sold fish from fishermen to businesses directly.
