A newspaper reporter (Masahiro Motoki) uncovers a secret "Okinawa pact" between the Japanese and U.S. government. A woman who is the deputy director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs becomes a key figure in the story.

- Based on Toyoko Yamasaki's 2009 novel "Unmei no Hito"
- The novel "Unmei no Hito" itself is based on the true story of Okinawa journalist Takichi Nishiyama who uncovered a secret pact between the U.S. and Japanese government over the reversion of the Okinawa islands to the Japanese government. Takichi Nishiyama then became involved in a sex scandal with a Ministry of Foreign Affairs worker who leaked the document.[1]
