Plot

A young priest falls in love with a chic young woman and soon must choose between his religious calling and the charms of a sexy parishioner.

Kim Gyu-Shik (Kwon Sang-Woo) is a serious young man who has always worked towards his life ambition... to serve God as a Catholic priest. When he gets assigned to a small church in rural Korea, Gyu-Shik meets the Pastor's niece, Bong-Hee (Ha Ji-Won) who has just come back from the United States. Can love bloom for the couple?

scarletsungrok Sep 12 2020 4:09 pm This Movie Was Amazing !!!! i watched it because i recognized the two main leads and found the plot intriguing but i expected the movie to be cliche because of how long ago it was made. but it was funny, cute, heartwarming, sad, it took me on a whole emotional rollercoaster. i really expected gyushik to say deo gratias at the end and was expecting to cry at the bittersweet ending but thankfully that didn’t happen. religion is also a huge part of me, and i can really connect to the religious struggles gyushik was facing. it’s such a wholesome movie, if you like wholesome sweet romances, this movie is great for you. also can we just take a moment to appreciate how talentedd kwon sang woo is??? his acting was so so realistic i cried when he cried because his acting was so raw and real. i’ve watched him before in queen of mystery but never noticed what a great actor he is. same for ha ji won, she is so cute and spunky and loud in this drama, i’ve never seen her act in that type of role before so it was very refreshing and surprising! overall, this movie is a solid 10/10!!!!!

sayoh Aug 24 2015 7:51 pm its ok for a man to marry a woman God understand we all have our weak point in life its not a sin to go to bed married if you have a wife better to marry than burn i've seen preachers get married they have a heart like anybody else a man and woman have the right choose and it don't leave God out of anything....

I am disappointed that this movie got low ratings when it was shown in South Korea. I think that it is a VERY GOOD movie.

Although it has been described as a romantic-comedy, IMO, I didn’t find it so funny because I already have watched lots of rom-com South Korean movies. However, I find it very, very moving. It’s a very lovely love story that tells love is a more-than-great blessing from God. I applaud both Kwon Sang Woo and Ha Ji Won for playing their roles very well (Kwon Sang Woo sooooo handsome, btw ^^)

That also shows a sad reality for Roman Catholic seminarians. The rule of the RC church is that priests have to accept the vow of celibacy. However in the Bible, it’s really not necessary. It’s said in 1 Cor. 7 that people who devote themselves to God would do better if they are single, but the Apostle Paul said that it’s a choice for people to either remain single or married when they serve God as a priest, bishop, etc.

With that said, we can say that Kim Kyushik in the story didn’t commit a sin when he fell in love while being a seminarian ^^ But then, the tradition shown in this movie is of the Roman Catholic Church and I can’t do anything. I just gave an information above ^^ Ah, really, this movie is truly heartrendingly sweet :’D

NewKDramaAddict Mar 17 2012 4:22 am Definitely a story to re-watch. I enjoyed immensely! Ha Ji-Won as always, a great performance. Kwon Sang-Woo, excellent. I think the moral of the story was even though he chose the girl, he still maintained his love for God. Excellent ending!
