Strange incidents take place within the palace. The King (Cho Seung-Woo) secretly calls for Gu-Cheon (Nam Joo-Hyuk) and Court Lady Saeng-Gang (Roh Yoon-Seo) and asks them to uncover the curse that lies within the palace of the Crown Prince. Gu-Cheon can traverse the world of ghosts and has a special ability to kill the ghosts with his sword. Court Lady Saeng-Gang was born with the ability to hear the sounds of ghosts. She considers her ability a lifelong curse, but using her special ability, she tries to uncover the secret of the palace with Gu-Cheon. An unimaginable word of darkness awaits for them.

so does the pond spirit really exists or is it just the work of poison?

there are so many questions unanswered & i'm left with more questions at the end.

& i hate how dumb the Princess is lol. are we getting season 2 or is it just gonna be an open-ending? i think i prefer this open-ending because i feel season 2 might get ruined...

Melissa B Jul 20 2026 11:57 am Was hoping for Haunted Palace 2.0 but I’m not feeling it anymore. Too Hollywood without any deeper meaning or awareness as was abundant in HP. That little rockface guy is way too cutesie and the last straw for me. Compare with the little boy who stole shoes to meet his mother or the jumping spirit in HP. It’s like they took the flash without the drive. I’m disappointed and probably won’t continue watching.

The best actors were actually the ladies. for the princess to go head to head with seasoned actors such as the king and daebi mama, wow. props to you. the first eps was enticing, so much so that i needed to watch it in succession. but by midseason, it started going downhill for me. This was Shamanism 101. i just gave up counting how many time i have had to endure scenes were either were in bed just to wake up and fight again. can't it be suggested? i found the scene transitions were rough around the edges such that the characters eventually looked the same to me. the storytelling was good in the beginning. For a viewer to go into a summary after each eps is telling: that the teling of this epic drama needed work.

Snu Jul 19 2026 5:37 am Absolute cinema!! The acting, cinematography, directing, colorgrading, storyline including plot twist are perfect. No dragging story dan no overusing CGI. The only thing that annoyed me is just the ggeomeoksali which looks like a Labubu Joseon. Too cute to be a ghost. But since it's a fantasy, i can accept this one. I hope the story continues to season 2. Netflix you have many things to do! ?

I was so focused to the extent of putting my phone to flight mode....... for calls and texts not to distract me from watching in peace. I was all alone watching. But do you know what? I had to get my crunchy chips and cola with me while watching the drama. Locked my room door and my earpod straight into my ear. I so much love this drama after KINGDOM 1,2&3. Kudos to the writer and the director. The casts are not left out too. Mostly Nam Joo Hyuk. It's really nice having you back. Expecting more from you. Waiting for Season 2. Kudos! ????? Chey Jul 18 2026 2:58 pm I really loved this! I dropped some series of Nam Joo Hyuk gor I just didn't warm up to the plot but with this one, I was glued to my screen since the pilot spayed to is final. Well executed, well written , the visuals and their face cards, amazing!

Roh Yoon Seo, since her 1st serie, Our Blues, and the rest of the works she has done, she never ceases to amaze me!

viola Jul 18 2026 11:10 am I usually find it really hard to love any kdrama these days but the East Palace definitely stood out for me. The cinematography was beautiful (usually all netflix movies/kshows have that quality which I really like), the plot was good (there were a considerable amount of twists-some which I didn't see coming), I adore the FL and ML, great visuals from both of them, happy ending. Yea solid 10/10 from me.

The pacing was excellent, and every twist made me want to watch the next episode immediately. Nam Joo Hyuk delivered an outstanding performance. He portrayed his character with such intensity, charisma, and emotional depth that every action scene and emotional moment felt authentic and unforgettable. His screen presence is simply captivating. Roh Yoon Seo was equally phenomenal. She brought so much grace, strength, and vulnerability to her character, making her incredibly easy to root for. Her chemistry with Nam Joo Hyuk was one of the drama's greatest strengths, it felt natural, heartfelt, and effortless. Every scene they shared was filled with emotion and tension, making their relationship truly memorable. Cho Seung-Woo who played the King also deserves special recognition. His commanding presence, expressive performance, and ability to balance authority with emotional complexity made him one of the standout characters in the series. The entire cast delivered exceptional performances, and the breathtaking cinematography, gripping action sequences, and well-crafted suspense made every episode unforgettable. The East Palace is a masterpiece that deserves all the praise and is definitely a must-watch. I need Season 2. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sarha Jul 18 2026 4:59 am Waiting for 8 months was definitely not in vain. Even though I only watched it for Cho Seung-woo and Roh Yoon-seo, Nam Joo-hyuk gave a truly excellent performance. The graphics were movie-quality, and what I loved the most was the combination of ghosts, zombies, and monsters—it was highly engaging for me. I'd give this masterpiece a 9.5/10. Hats off to the cast!
