An explosion took place in the past. That explosion led to a serial murder case known as the Chimera case. 35 years later, a similar explosion takes place.

Cha Jae-Hwan (Park Hae-Soo) is an enthusiastic detective. When Eugene (Soo-Hyun) was little, she was adopted by parents in the United States. She once worked for the FBI and she now works as a criminal profiler. When Lee Joong-Yeop (Lee Hee-Jun) was little, he was adopted by parents in England. He became a surgeon and returned to South Korea, but he gets involved in a mysterious case.

Cha Jae-Hwan, Eugene and Lee Joong-Yeop have different reasons to chase the truth of the Chimera case.

Henna Mar 23 2024 4:40 pm Interesting plot. Cha Jae-Hwan's performance as a detective was lacking, but great performance by the actor. The series gets better as it progresses. A bit disappointed with the penultimate death! She should've lived one way or the other.

Meyame Mar 13 2024 8:50 am Spoilers : I think from the 3 cops who investigate lee sang woo, han ju seok is the worst. He is the real cop who deserve to die. While in the movie, we sympathy to han ju seok because he is like the father figure for jae hwan. But seung gwan and yong book really thought the chimera is lee sang woo. In the other hand, han ju seok KNEW who is chimera. For God's sake, ryu sung hee is not his wife. Just a woman he loved. And then, you sacrificed others live just to save the real killer? Very very very selfish man

Park Min Aug 23 2023 2:40 pm Such a disappointment! It started off promising with an interesting premise but fell off shortly after. I hated how the story turned up to be by the end. The last 5 episodes of the drama were embarrassing, chaotic, and sloppy. They must've changed the writer! Anyway, seems like this is a common trend with OCN thrillers.

At first I thought she has a significant role in the story but after watching the whole series. Her character was just a filler in the story. It would be nice if they hint like she is a probable Chimera since she knows about explosives and chemical etc. I love the story all in all. Great Drama

My honest and detailed review at end of show: firstly characters i disliked rather hated. 1) cha jae hwans character was hotheaded but a very dumb and slow cop, always behind in investigations and acting childish. Character ihated with passion was eugenes. It was the most unneeded character in show. Firstly, her job was not clear, she was a profiler but an explosives expert as well, is it possible?she was also very slow in investigations like jaehwan. She also had a very low EQ( not iq, eq). What was very annoying that in every interrogation scene she will unnecessarily force herself in. Every single arrest from jongyeops to ryu sung hee she will jump in saying i will question the suspect with baseless confidence that she will be successful only to end up with a long face, even when cops are talking to hanter former ceo of on laptop she again jumps in the chat...like seriously..attention deficit disorder to insert yourself everywhere? Lastly what i really disliked was her judgemental attitude towards suspects. While questioning ryu sung hee despite knowing her daughter was killed she wears judgemental expressions and asks questions about regretting crimes. Similarly she even tells jy that she hated kim hyo yong....what a sad person. Those were victims of crimes and law never supported them, its only natural for them to kill those monsters as theres no help for them but she would judge them instead. Also actresses expressions during judgy scenes with pursed lips would make her character super unlikable.

Now characters i liked was jy and his sister. It was very dumb of kim hyo yong to tell jaehwan about her dad and let those tutorials sit online when shes the actual killer. Dont know why writers did this. If it wrent for kim hyo yongs mistakes jae hwan never had brains to nab her. She shouldn't have died. Instead after quietly killing all should have only told jong yeop about herself and moved to uk and lived as a family. Last ep made me cry for both jy and hyo yong. It was unfair.

It was a very good show minus eugene and jae hwans characters. Very diff from usual ocn dramas.

Recommend for sure Dec 19 2021 9:02 pm Saw this drama on an ad and clicked on it. Honestly didn't think it would be this good. Would totally rate this a 9/10 because of the smoothness in the plot and the twist and turns this drama made.

Everything that was going on was staring him right in the face and even after being told the situation he still didnt get it. Everyone keeps thinking the culprit is a male....why because there is no a way a female could have done it....the mere sexism of it all its so baffling. I dont know why but the more you saw Kim Hyo-Kyung the more I kept thinking she looked like Lord Voldermort. I really hope we get a good ending to this drama.

Why haven't I thought about it before...., since Chimera is actually a female monster in the Greek myth. This drama is unpredictable. Who would've thought that the kind protagonists are the actual villain. Only 2 episodes left. I don't know of there will be more twist in the end.

Dearest Dee Dec 12 2021 2:23 am Idc about low ratings! This Kdrama series from OCN deserves appreciation! To those crime-thrillern fan, this is a fresh drama having serial killing with arson MO. The leads give justice to characters. I love how it ends every episode w/cliff hangers, this drama makes watcher think and imagine. Just like j*risan, at some point, it is frustrating but that's what keep the drama worth waiting every week.

I am not that patient so i was kinda bored at first and i thought that its pace is too slow. i decided to trust it and i swear starting from ep 8, every ep is a surprise! I Luv It.

Also, of ure into this genre, try to finish Awaken or The veil. people who finished those and watched attentively cannot say theyre not good.

He wants to find the truth behind this case to find out the real culprit, that's why he was found in the scene of the case and related to the victims 35 years later. Because the victims were related to the 1984 case.

Wht i still dont get is how han ju seok knew her n since when. I fear the writers wont clarify everything and leave untied ends. So ithink eugene is chairman seos daughter. N jae hwan most likely is younger bro of doctor and as han ju seok was involved in this case he gave the boy to other mother. I have a feeling eugene is aware of her parents. Chairmans wife is sus for giving that painting to doc.

I also think mayb detective cha might be the son of the chairman... if the chairman wife was chimera mayb she liked the chairman n tired to get kid of his wife n kid...or in anoda theory detective cha n dr lee are sinbling mayb the mother gave birth b4 she died n the new chimera is a son of one of those professors that got killed by the real chimera.... still waiting for the twist buh I’m definitely hooked up on this drama

Han Ju Seok was probably in love with her even when she was married. I suspect that he gave her Jae Hwan to help her with her mental state. Jae Hwan is probably brother of Lee Joong-Yeop, they are so similar and his mother was pregnant at that time. Chimera is chairman's wife. But I think new Chimera 1(responsible for swat of reporter and Han Ju Seok) is as well woman.

Not really Nov 19 2021 2:29 am Dr lee is perhaps the kid whose pregnant mom died. Real chimera was chairman or his wife. Dr lee is defo one of the agrieved partues. Jae hwans mom is not his real mom. I dunno why jae hwans mom tries suicide and also whats her link to han ju seok its too damn confusing, like shes married has kid and is preggers than what she has to do wid han ju seok? Is he the father of her kids? I think firefighter guy's dad and jae hwans mom's husband were researchers who were murdered in chimera serial murders by chairman or his wife. New chimera is taking revenge for his father.

I think chimera is someone else then that fire fighter guy is the son of lee who was accused of being chimera mayb his wife put to birth b4 she died n wen he came of age he got to know what happened 35 years ago and he taking revenge for his father cause I know dr lee is innocent... in the las episode 6 u can see dr lee was with another man from my observation I think that man there is the real chumera... let’s wait for the twist tho

Det Cha mother is also pregnant in the picture with Captain Han Ju Seok. That picture taken in 1984. In episode 1, Det Cha was saying, why Dr Lee eyes looks so sad when he ask to shoot him. It must because at that time, Dr Lee already know Det Cha is his brother. What Madam Hwang said in Ep 5. About don't look for family. That family will become an enemy. Dr Lee must have come to Korea to find his brother.

Not bad Nov 05 2021 7:32 am Sometimes some shows are so bad that you can drop them after 1st episode, for many other shows you have to give first 4 epis a try to decide to drop or not. With chimera i have seen only 1ep till now. Ep2 and 3 will help me to decide to go on or not. But after ep 1, i like the show ,its interesting. Not novel , all ocn dramas are almost alike or have same vibe with little changes in scenarios so its a typical ocn drama. Both male leads are excellent actors. The drama has some similarity to voice. Some comment below on ep 1 had made me think i shoudnt give this show a try but i am glad i did. It's not new but it's interesting. I find it similar to quiz of god season 4's first few episides which also dealt with human combustion incidents.

I mainly felt compelled to write because i noticed many kdramas take real life tragic incidents and very cruelly show those scenarios in dramas where those events are handled very casually and at times are mentioned to joke about things; about same here. The spontaneous human combustion case had happened in usa to an old woman sitting in her chair and smoking and suddenly she got burned up. The way incident was mentioned by autospy doctors in a joking way was v insensitive. Same thing was done with sarin gas attack incident in hometown. Please show respect to victims and their loved ones.

The only channel that I would come to if I wanna watch thriller genre. Never disappointed. Thumbs up OCN. No romance. Only thriller.

Genesis77 Oct 30 2021 9:59 pm I wish dramas would give credit to all of the actor's and actresses that take on roles, no matter how big or how small...why because there are fans of actors and actresses that would come watch the drama or movie, just to get a glimpse of an actor or actress they like. That being said, right off in Ep. 1 of this drama I see an actor that I came to adore from his role in Vincenzo as Mr. An...and that is Lim Chul-Soo. He is brilliant! If you find this comment and wonder just where he is in the drama, he's playing what looks like a gangster or collector, chasing the character Cha Jae-Hwan through an alley of houses.

Anyways, it's good to see him in anything he does. Wishing him greater success with his career.
